ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੩॥੫੪॥
अंतरि बाहरि एकु दिखाइआ ॥४॥३॥५४॥
Anṯar bāhar ek ḏikẖā▫i▫ā. ||4||3||54||
Inwardly and outwardly, He has shown me the One Lord. ||4||3||54||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ५ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਪਾਵਤੁ ਰਲੀਆ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਬਲੀਆ
पावतु रलीआ जोबनि बलीआ ॥
Pāvaṯ ralī▫ā joban balī▫ā.
The mortal revels in joy, in the vigor of youth;

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਟੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਲੀਆ ॥੧॥
नाम बिना माटी संगि रलीआ ॥१॥
Nām binā mātī sang ralī▫ā. ||1||
but without the Name, he mingles with dust. ||1||

ਕਾਨ ਕੁੰਡਲੀਆ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਓਢਲੀਆ
कान कुंडलीआ बसत्र ओढलीआ ॥
Kān kundlī▫ā basṯar odẖalī▫ā.
He may wear ear-rings and fine clothes,

ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਲੀਆ ਮਨਿ ਗਰਬਲੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
सेज सुखलीआ मनि गरबलीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sej sukẖlī▫ā man garablī▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
and have a comfortable bed, and his mind may be so proud. ||1||Pause||

ਤਲੈ ਕੁੰਚਰੀਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਨਿਕ ਛਤਰੀਆ
तलै कुंचरीआ सिरि कनिक छतरीआ ॥
Ŧalai kuncẖrī▫ā sir kanik cẖẖaṯrī▫ā.
He may have elephants to ride, and golden umbrellas over his head;

ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ਲੇ ਧਰਨਿ ਗਡਲੀਆ ॥੨॥
हरि भगति बिना ले धरनि गडलीआ ॥२॥
Har bẖagaṯ binā le ḏẖaran gadlī▫ā. ||2||
but without devotional worship to the Lord, he is buried beneath the dirt. ||2||

ਰੂਪ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆ ਅਨਿਕ ਇਸਤਰੀਆ
रूप सुंदरीआ अनिक इसतरीआ ॥
Rūp sunḏrī▫ā anik isṯarī▫ā.
He may enjoy many women, of exquisite beauty;

ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਸੁਆਦ ਫਿਕਰੀਆ ॥੩॥
हरि रस बिनु सभि सुआद फिकरीआ ॥३॥
Har ras bin sabẖ su▫āḏ fikrī▫ā. ||3||
but without the sublime essence of the Lord, all tastes are tasteless. ||3||

ਮਾਇਆ ਛਲੀਆ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਖਲੀਆ
माइआ छलीआ बिकार बिखलीआ ॥
Mā▫i▫ā cẖẖalī▫ā bikār bikẖlī▫ā.
Deluded by Maya, the mortal is led into sin and corruption.

ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਇਅਲੀਆ ॥੪॥੪॥੫੫॥
सरणि नानक प्रभ पुरख दइअलीआ ॥४॥४॥५५॥
Saraṇ Nānak parabẖ purakẖ ḏa▫i▫alī▫ā. ||4||4||55||
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of God, the All-powerful, Compassionate Lord. ||4||4||55||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ५ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਏਕੁ ਬਗੀਚਾ ਪੇਡ ਘਨ ਕਰਿਆ
एकु बगीचा पेड घन करिआ ॥
Ėk bagīcẖā ped gẖan kari▫ā.
There is a garden, in which so many plants have grown.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹਾ ਮਹਿ ਫਲਿਆ ॥੧॥
अम्रित नामु तहा महि फलिआ ॥१॥
Amriṯ nām ṯahā mėh fali▫ā. ||1||
They bear the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam as their fruit. ||1||

ਐਸਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ
ऐसा करहु बीचारु गिआनी ॥
Aisā karahu bīcẖār gi▫ānī.
Consider this, O wise one,

ਜਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ
जा ते पाईऐ पदु निरबानी ॥
Jā ṯe pā▫ī▫ai paḏ nirbānī.
by which you may attain the state of Nirvaanaa.

ਆਸਿ ਪਾਸਿ ਬਿਖੂਆ ਕੇ ਕੁੰਟਾ ਬੀਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
आसि पासि बिखूआ के कुंटा बीचि अम्रितु है भाई रे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ās pās bikẖū▫ā ke kuntā bīcẖ amriṯ hai bẖā▫ī re. ||1|| rahā▫o.
All around this garden are pools of poison, but within it is the Ambrosial Nectar, O Siblings of Destiny. ||1||Pause||

ਸਿੰਚਨਹਾਰੇ ਏਕੈ ਮਾਲੀ
सिंचनहारे एकै माली ॥
Sincẖanhāre ekai mālī.
There is only one gardener who tends it.

ਖਬਰਿ ਕਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਤ ਪਤ ਡਾਲੀ ॥੨॥
खबरि करतु है पात पत डाली ॥२॥
Kẖabar karaṯ hai pāṯ paṯ dālī. ||2||
He takes care of every leaf and branch. ||2||

ਸਗਲ ਬਨਸਪਤਿ ਆਣਿ ਜੜਾਈ
सगल बनसपति आणि जड़ाई ॥
Sagal banaspaṯ āṇ jaṛā▫ī.
He brings all sorts of plants and plants them there.

ਸਗਲੀ ਫੂਲੀ ਨਿਫਲ ਕਾਈ ॥੩॥
सगली फूली निफल न काई ॥३॥
Saglī fūlī nifal na kā▫ī. ||3||
They all bear fruit - none is without fruit. ||3||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ
अम्रित फलु नामु जिनि गुर ते पाइआ ॥
Amriṯ fal nām jin gur ṯe pā▫i▫ā.
One who receives the Ambrosial Fruit of the Naam from the Guru -

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਰੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥੫੬॥
नानक दास तरी तिनि माइआ ॥४॥५॥५६॥
Nānak ḏās ṯarī ṯin mā▫i▫ā. ||4||5||56||
O Nanak, such a servant crosses over the ocean of Maya. ||4||5||56||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ५ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਰਾਜ ਲੀਲਾ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਬਨਾਈ
राज लीला तेरै नामि बनाई ॥
Rāj līlā ṯerai nām banā▫ī.
The pleasures of royalty are derived from Your Name.

ਜੋਗੁ ਬਨਿਆ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥
जोगु बनिआ तेरा कीरतनु गाई ॥१॥
Jog bani▫ā ṯerā kīrṯan gā▫ī. ||1||
I attain Yoga, singing the Kirtan of Your Praises. ||1||

ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਬਨੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਓਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ
सरब सुखा बने तेरै ओल्है ॥
Sarab sukẖā bane ṯerai olĥai.
All comforts are obtained in Your Shelter.

ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
भ्रम के परदे सतिगुर खोल्हे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bẖaram ke parḏe saṯgur kẖolĥe. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The True Guru has removed the veil of doubt. ||1||Pause||

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣੇ
हुकमु बूझि रंग रस माणे ॥
Hukam būjẖ rang ras māṇe.
Understanding the Command of the Lord's Will, I revel in pleasure and joy.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਮਹਾ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੇ ॥੨॥
सतिगुर सेवा महा निरबाणे ॥२॥
Saṯgur sevā mahā nirbāṇe. ||3||
Serving the True Guru, I obtain the supreme state of Nirvaanaa. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ
जिनि तूं जाता सो गिरसत उदासी परवाणु ॥
Jin ṯūʼn jāṯā so girsaṯ uḏāsī parvāṇ.
One who recognizes You is recognized as a householder, and as a renunciate.

ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
नामि रता सोई निरबाणु ॥३॥
Nām raṯā so▫ī nirbāṇ. ||2||
Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he dwells in Nirvaanaa. ||3||

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ
जा कउ मिलिओ नामु निधाना ॥
Jā ka▫o mili▫o nām niḏẖānā.
One who has obtained the treasure of the Naam -

ਭਨਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਪੂਰ ਖਜਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥੫੭॥
भनति नानक ता का पूर खजाना ॥४॥६॥५७॥
Bẖanaṯ Nānak ṯā kā pūr kẖajānā. ||4||6||57||
prays Nanak, his treasure-house is filled to overflowing. ||4||6||57||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੀਰਥਿ ਜਾਉ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੇ
तीरथि जाउ त हउ हउ करते ॥
Ŧirath jā▫o ṯa ha▫o ha▫o karṯe.
Journeying to sacred shrines of pilgrimage, I see the mortals acting in ego.

ਪੰਡਿਤ ਪੂਛਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਾਤੇ ॥੧॥
पंडित पूछउ त माइआ राते ॥१॥
Pandiṯ pūcẖẖa▫o ṯa mā▫i▫ā rāṯe. ||1||
If I ask the Pandits, I find them tainted by Maya. ||1||

ਸੋ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਮੀਤਾ
सो असथानु बतावहु मीता ॥
So asthān baṯāvhu mīṯā.
Show me that place, O friend,

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨੀਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जा कै हरि हरि कीरतनु नीता ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jā kai har har kīrṯan nīṯā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
where the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises are forever sung. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਵੀਚਾਰ
सासत्र बेद पाप पुंन वीचार ॥
Sāsṯar beḏ pāp punn vīcẖār.
The Shaastras and the Vedas speak of sin and virtue;

ਨਰਕਿ ਸੁਰਗਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਅਉਤਾਰ ॥੨॥
नरकि सुरगि फिरि फिरि अउतार ॥२॥
Narak surag fir fir a▫uṯār. ||2||
they say that mortals are reincarnated into heaven and hell, over and over again. ||2||

ਗਿਰਸਤ ਮਹਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਉਦਾਸ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ
गिरसत महि चिंत उदास अहंकार ॥
Girsaṯ mėh cẖinṯ uḏās ahaʼnkār.
In the householder's life, there is anxiety, and in the life of the renunciate, there is egotism.

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤ ਜੀਅ ਕਉ ਜੰਜਾਰ ॥੩॥
करम करत जीअ कउ जंजार ॥३॥
Karam karaṯ jī▫a ka▫o janjār. ||3||
Performing religious rituals, the soul is entangled. ||3||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ
प्रभ किरपा ते मनु वसि आइआ ॥
Parabẖ kirpā ṯe man vas ā▫i▫ā.
By God's Grace, the mind is brought under control;

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਰੀ ਤਿਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
नानक गुरमुखि तरी तिनि माइआ ॥४॥
Nānak gurmukẖ ṯarī ṯin mā▫i▫ā. ||4||
O Nanak, the Gurmukh crosses over the ocean of Maya. ||4||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਈਐ
साधसंगि हरि कीरतनु गाईऐ ॥
Sāḏẖsang har kīrṯan gā▫ī▫ai.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.

ਇਹੁ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੭॥੫੮॥
इहु असथानु गुरू ते पाईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥७॥५८॥
Ih asthān gurū ṯe pā▫ī▫ai. ||1|| rahā▫o ḏūjā. ||7||58||
This place is found through the Guru. ||1||Second. Pause||7||58||

ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਖ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਫੁਨਿ ਸੂਖਾ
घर महि सूख बाहरि फुनि सूखा ॥
Gẖar mėh sūkẖ bāhar fun sūkẖā.
Within my home there is peace, and outwardly there is peace as well.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਦੂਖਾ ॥੧॥
हरि सिमरत सगल बिनासे दूखा ॥१॥
Har simraṯ sagal bināse ḏūkẖā. ||1||
Remembering the Lord in meditation, all pains are erased. ||1||

ਸਗਲ ਸੂਖ ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਂਵੈਂ
सगल सूख जां तूं चिति आंवैं ॥
Sagal sūkẖ jāʼn ṯūʼn cẖiṯ āʼnvaiʼn.
There is total peace, when You come into my mind.
