ਪਰਦੇਸੁ ਝਾਗਿ ਸਉਦੇ ਕਉ ਆਇਆ
परदेसु झागि सउदे कउ आइआ ॥
Parḏes jẖāg sa▫uḏe ka▫o ā▫i▫ā.
Having wandered through foreign lands, I have come here to do business.

ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਸੁਣੀ ਲਾਭਾਇਆ
वसतु अनूप सुणी लाभाइआ ॥
vasaṯ anūp suṇī lābẖā▫i▫ā.
I heard of the incomparable and profitable merchandise.

ਗੁਣ ਰਾਸਿ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਪਲੈ ਆਨੀ
गुण रासि बंन्हि पलै आनी ॥
Guṇ rās banėh palai ānī.
I have gathered in my pockets my capital of virtue, and I have brought it here with me.

ਦੇਖਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਲਪਟਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
देखि रतनु इहु मनु लपटानी ॥१॥
Ḏekẖ raṯan ih man laptānī. ||1||
Beholding the jewel, this mind is fascinated. ||1||

ਸਾਹ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਆਏ
साह वापारी दुआरै आए ॥
Sāh vāpārī ḏu▫ārai ā▫e.
I have come to the door of the Trader.

ਵਖਰੁ ਕਾਢਹੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
वखरु काढहु सउदा कराए ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
vakẖar kādẖahu sa▫uḏā karā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Please display the merchandise, so that the business may be transacted. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਹਿ ਪਠਾਇਆ ਸਾਹੈ ਪਾਸਿ
साहि पठाइआ साहै पासि ॥
Sāhi paṯẖā▫i▫ā sāhai pās.
The Trader has sent me to the Banker.

ਅਮੋਲ ਰਤਨ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਰਾਸਿ
अमोल रतन अमोला रासि ॥
Amol raṯan amolā rās.
The jewel is priceless, and the capital is priceless.

ਵਿਸਟੁ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੀਤ
विसटु सुभाई पाइआ मीत ॥
visat subẖā▫ī pā▫i▫ā mīṯ.
O my gentle brother, mediator and friend -

ਸਉਦਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਚੀਤ ॥੨॥
सउदा मिलिआ निहचल चीत ॥२॥
Sa▫uḏā mili▫ā nihcẖal cẖīṯ. ||2||
I have obtained the merchandise, and my consciousness is now steady and stable. ||2||

ਭਉ ਨਹੀ ਤਸਕਰ ਪਉਣ ਪਾਨੀ
भउ नही तसकर पउण न पानी ॥
Bẖa▫o nahī ṯaskar pa▫uṇ na pānī.
I have no fear of thieves, of wind or water.

ਸਹਜਿ ਵਿਹਾਝੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਨੀ
सहजि विहाझी सहजि लै जानी ॥
Sahj vihājī sahj lai jānī.
I have easily made my purchase, and I easily take it away.

ਸਤ ਕੈ ਖਟਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ
सत कै खटिऐ दुखु नही पाइआ ॥
Saṯ kai kẖati▫ai ḏukẖ nahī pā▫i▫ā.
I have earned Truth, and I shall have no pain.

ਸਹੀ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਘਰਿ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ॥੩॥
सही सलामति घरि लै आइआ ॥३॥
Sahī salāmaṯ gẖar lai ā▫i▫ā. ||3||
I have brought this merchandise home, safe and sound. ||3||

ਮਿਲਿਆ ਲਾਹਾ ਭਏ ਅਨੰਦ
मिलिआ लाहा भए अनंद ॥
Mili▫ā lāhā bẖa▫e anand.
I have earned the profit, and I am happy.

ਧੰਨੁ ਸਾਹ ਪੂਰੇ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ
धंनु साह पूरे बखसिंद ॥
Ḏẖan sāh pūre bakẖsinḏ.
Blessed is the Banker, the Perfect Bestower.

ਇਹੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਪਾਇਆ
इहु सउदा गुरमुखि किनै विरलै पाइआ ॥
Ih sa▫uḏā gurmukẖ kinai virlai pā▫i▫ā.
How rare is the Gurmukh who obtains this merchandise;

ਸਹਲੀ ਖੇਪ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੬॥
सहली खेप नानकु लै आइआ ॥४॥६॥
Sahlī kẖep Nānak lai ā▫i▫ā. ||4||6||
Nanak has brought this profitable merchandise home. ||4||6||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ५ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਨੁ ਅਵਗਨੁ ਮੇਰੋ ਕਛੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ
गुनु अवगनु मेरो कछु न बीचारो ॥
Gun avgan mero kacẖẖ na bīcẖāro.
He does not consider my merits or demerits.

ਨਹ ਦੇਖਿਓ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ
नह देखिओ रूप रंग सींगारो ॥
Nah ḏekẖi▫o rūp rang sīʼngāro.
He does not look at my beauty, color or decorations.

ਚਜ ਅਚਾਰ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੀ
चज अचार किछु बिधि नही जानी ॥
Cẖaj acẖār kicẖẖ biḏẖ nahī jānī.
I do not know the ways of wisdom and good conduct.

ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੇਜੈ ਆਨੀ ॥੧॥
बाह पकरि प्रिअ सेजै आनी ॥१॥
Bāh pakar pari▫a sejai ānī. ||1||
But taking me by the arm, my Husband Lord has led me to His Bed. ||1||

ਸੁਨਿਬੋ ਸਖੀ ਕੰਤਿ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਕੀਅਲੋ ਖਸਮਾਨਾ
सुनिबो सखी कंति हमारो कीअलो खसमाना ॥
Sunibo sakẖī kanṯ hamāro kī▫alo kẖasmānā.
Hear, O my companions, my Husband, my Lord Master, possesses me.

ਕਰੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨੈ ਇਹੁ ਲੋਕੁ ਅਜਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
करु मसतकि धारि राखिओ करि अपुना किआ जानै इहु लोकु अजाना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kar masṯak ḏẖār rākẖi▫o kar apunā ki▫ā jānai ih lok ajānā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Placing His Hand upon my forehead, He protects me as His Own. What do these ignorant people know? ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ਹਮਾਰੋ ਅਬ ਹੁਣਿ ਸੋਹਿਓ
सुहागु हमारो अब हुणि सोहिओ ॥
Suhāg hamāro ab huṇ sohi▫o.
My married life now appears so beauteous;

ਕੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮੇਰੋ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜੋਹਿਓ
कंतु मिलिओ मेरो सभु दुखु जोहिओ ॥
Kanṯ mili▫o mero sabẖ ḏukẖ johi▫o.
my Husband Lord has met me, and He sees all my pains.

ਆਂਗਨਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਚੰਦ
आंगनि मेरै सोभा चंद ॥
Āʼngan merai sobẖā cẖanḏ.
Within the courtyard of my heart, the glory of the moon shines.

ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਨੰਦ ॥੨॥
निसि बासुर प्रिअ संगि अनंद ॥२॥
Nis bāsur pari▫a sang anand. ||2||
Night and day, I have fun with my Beloved. ||2||

ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲ
बसत्र हमारे रंगि चलूल ॥
Basṯar hamāre rang cẖalūl.
My clothes are dyed the deep crimson color of the poppy.

ਸਗਲ ਆਭਰਣ ਸੋਭਾ ਕੰਠਿ ਫੂਲ
सगल आभरण सोभा कंठि फूल ॥
Sagal ābẖraṇ sobẖā kanṯẖ fūl.
All the ornaments and garlands around my neck adorn me.

ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪੇਖੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪਾਏ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨ
प्रिअ पेखी द्रिसटि पाए सगल निधान ॥
Pari▫a pekẖī ḏarisat pā▫e sagal niḏẖān.
Gazing upon my Beloved with my eyes, I have obtained all treasures;

ਦੁਸਟ ਦੂਤ ਕੀ ਚੂਕੀ ਕਾਨਿ ॥੩॥
दुसट दूत की चूकी कानि ॥३॥
Ḏusat ḏūṯ kī cẖūkī kān. ||3||
I have shaken off the power of the evil demons. ||3||

ਸਦ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੇ
सद खुसीआ सदा रंग माणे ॥
Saḏ kẖusī▫ā saḏā rang māṇe.
I have obtained eternal bliss, and I constantly celebrate.

ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ
नउ निधि नामु ग्रिह महि त्रिपताने ॥
Na▫o niḏẖ nām garih mėh ṯaripṯāne.
With the nine treasures of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am satisfied in my own home.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਉ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ
कहु नानक जउ पिरहि सीगारी ॥
Kaho Nānak ja▫o pirėh sīgārī.
Says Nanak, when the happy soul-bride is adorned by her Beloved,

ਥਿਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਨਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਤਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੭॥
थिरु सोहागनि संगि भतारी ॥४॥७॥
Thir sohāgan sang bẖaṯārī. ||4||7||
she is forever happy with her Husband Lord. ||4||7||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ५ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਨਾ
दानु देइ करि पूजा करना ॥
Ḏān ḏe▫e kar pūjā karnā.
They give you donations and worship you.

ਲੈਤ ਦੇਤ ਉਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮੂਕਰਿ ਪਰਨਾ
लैत देत उन्ह मूकरि परना ॥
Laiṯ ḏeṯ unĥ mūkar parnā.
You take from them, and then deny that they have given anything to you.

ਜਿਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹੈ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਜਾਣਾ
जितु दरि तुम्ह है ब्राहमण जाणा ॥
Jiṯ ḏar ṯumĥ hai barāhmaṇ jāṇā.
That door, through which you must ultimately go, O Brahmin -

ਤਿਤੁ ਦਰਿ ਤੂੰਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
तितु दरि तूंही है पछुताणा ॥१॥
Ŧiṯ ḏar ṯūʼnhī hai pacẖẖuṯāṇā. ||1||
at that door, you will come to regret and repent. ||1||

ਐਸੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਡੂਬੇ ਭਾਈ
ऐसे ब्राहमण डूबे भाई ॥
Aise barāhmaṇ dūbe bẖā▫ī.
Such Brahmins shall drown, O Siblings of Destiny;

ਨਿਰਾਪਰਾਧ ਚਿਤਵਹਿ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
निरापराध चितवहि बुरिआई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nirāprāḏẖ cẖiṯvahi buri▫ā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
they think of doing evil to the innocent. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਹਲਕਾਏ
अंतरि लोभु फिरहि हलकाए ॥
Anṯar lobẖ firėh halkā▫e.
Within them is greed, and they wander around like mad dogs.

ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰੁ ਉਠਾਏ
निंदा करहि सिरि भारु उठाए ॥
Ninḏā karahi sir bẖār uṯẖā▫e.
They slander others and carry loads of sin upon their heads.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੂਠਾ ਚੇਤੈ ਨਾਹੀ
माइआ मूठा चेतै नाही ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mūṯẖā cẖeṯai nāhī.
Intoxicated by Maya, they do not think of the Lord.

ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਰਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
भरमे भूला बहुती राही ॥२॥
Bẖarme bẖūlā bahuṯī rāhī. ||2||
Deluded by doubt, they wander off on many paths. ||2||

ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਘਨੇਰੇ
बाहरि भेख करहि घनेरे ॥
Bāhar bẖekẖ karahi gẖanere.
Outwardly, they wear various religious robes,

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਉਤਰੀ ਘੇਰੇ
अंतरि बिखिआ उतरी घेरे ॥
Anṯar bikẖi▫ā uṯrī gẖere.
but within, they are enveloped by poison.

ਅਵਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਆਪਿ ਬੂਝੈ
अवर उपदेसै आपि न बूझै ॥
Avar upḏesai āp na būjẖai.
They instruct others, but do not understand themselves.

ਐਸਾ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਕਹੀ ਸੀਝੈ ॥੩॥
ऐसा ब्राहमणु कही न सीझै ॥३॥
Aisā barāhmaṇ kahī na sījẖai. ||3||
Such Brahmins will never be emancipated. ||3||

ਮੂਰਖ ਬਾਮਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਮਾਲਿ
मूरख बामण प्रभू समालि ॥
Mūrakẖ bāmaṇ parabẖū samāl.
O foolish Brahmin, reflect upon God.

ਦੇਖਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਤੇਰੈ ਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ
देखत सुनत तेरै है नालि ॥
Ḏekẖaṯ sunaṯ ṯerai hai nāl.
He watches and hears, and is always with you.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੇ ਹੋਵੀ ਭਾਗੁ
कहु नानक जे होवी भागु ॥
Kaho Nānak je hovī bẖāg.
Says Nanak, if this is your destiny,

ਮਾਨੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੮॥
मानु छोडि गुर चरणी लागु ॥४॥८॥
Mān cẖẖod gur cẖarṇī lāg. ||4||8||
renounce your pride, and grasp the Guru's Feet. ||4||8||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ५ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 5.
Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਭਏ ਗਤੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ
दूख रोग भए गतु तन ते मनु निरमलु हरि हरि गुण गाइ ॥
Ḏūkẖ rog bẖa▫e gaṯ ṯan ṯe man nirmal har har guṇ gā▫e.
Pain and disease have left my body, and my mind has become pure; I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.
