ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ਕੇ ਕਾਫੀ ਮਹਲਾ
रागु आसा घरु ८ के काफी महला ४ ॥
Rāg āsā gẖar 8 ke kāfī mėhlā 4.
Raag Aasaa, Eighth House, Kaafee, Fourth Mehl:

ਆਇਆ ਮਰਣੁ ਧੁਰਾਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਈਐ
आइआ मरणु धुराहु हउमै रोईऐ ॥
Ā▫i▫ā maraṇ ḏẖurāhu ha▫umai ro▫ī▫ai.
Death is ordained from the very beginning, and yet ego makes us cry.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਈਐ ॥੧॥
गुरमुखि नामु धिआइ असथिरु होईऐ ॥१॥
Gurmukẖ nām ḏẖi▫ā▫e asthir ho▫ī▫ai. ||1||
Meditating on the Naam, as Gurmukh, one becomes stable and steady. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਚਲਣੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ
गुर पूरे साबासि चलणु जाणिआ ॥
Gur pūre sābās cẖalaṇ jāṇi▫ā.
Blessed is the Perfect Guru, through whom the way of Death is known.

ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
लाहा नामु सु सारु सबदि समाणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Lāhā nām so sār sabaḏ samāṇi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The sublime people earn the profit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they are absorbed in the Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||

ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖੇ ਡੇਹ ਸਿ ਆਏ ਮਾਇਆ
पूरबि लिखे डेह सि आए माइआ ॥
Pūrab likẖe deh sė ā▫e mā▫i▫ā.
The days of one's life are pre-ordained; they will come to their end, O mother.

ਚਲਣੁ ਅਜੁ ਕਿ ਕਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
चलणु अजु कि कल्हि धुरहु फुरमाइआ ॥२॥
Cẖalaṇ aj kė kalėh ḏẖarahu furmā▫i▫ā. ||2||
One must depart, today or tomorrow, according to the Lord's Primal Order. ||2||

ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ
बिरथा जनमु तिना जिन्ही नामु विसारिआ ॥
Birthā janam ṯinā jinĥī nām visāri▫ā.
Useless are the lives of those, who have forgotten the Naam.

ਜੂਐ ਖੇਲਣੁ ਜਗਿ ਕਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਾਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
जूऐ खेलणु जगि कि इहु मनु हारिआ ॥३॥
Jū▫ai kẖelaṇ jag kė ih man hāri▫ā. ||3||
They play the game of chance in this world, and lose their mind. ||3||

ਜੀਵਣਿ ਮਰਣਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ
जीवणि मरणि सुखु होइ जिन्हा गुरु पाइआ ॥
Jīvaṇ maraṇ sukẖ ho▫e jinĥā gur pā▫i▫ā.
Those who have found the Guru are at peace, in life and in death.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੪॥
नानक सचे सचि सचि समाइआ ॥४॥१२॥६४॥
Nānak sacẖe sacẖ sacẖ samā▫i▫ā. ||4||12||64||
O Nanak, the true ones are truly absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||12||64||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ४ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 4.
Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ
जनमु पदारथु पाइ नामु धिआइआ ॥
Janam paḏārath pā▫e nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā.
Having obtained the treasure of this human birth, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
गुर परसादी बुझि सचि समाइआ ॥१॥
Gur parsādī bujẖ sacẖ samā▫i▫ā. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, I understand, and I am absorbed into the True Lord. ||1||

ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ
जिन्ह धुरि लिखिआ लेखु तिन्ही नामु कमाइआ ॥
Jinĥ ḏẖur likẖi▫ā lekẖ ṯinĥī nām kamā▫i▫ā.
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny practice the Naam.

ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
दरि सचै सचिआर महलि बुलाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏar sacẖai sacẖiār mahal bulā▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The True Lord summons the truthful to the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ
अंतरि नामु निधानु गुरमुखि पाईऐ ॥
Anṯar nām niḏẖān gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai.
Deep within is the treasure of the Naam; it is obtained by the Gurmukh.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੨॥
अनदिनु नामु धिआइ हरि गुण गाईऐ ॥२॥
An▫ḏin nām ḏẖi▫ā▫e har guṇ gā▫ī▫ai. ||2||
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੇਕ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈਐ
अंतरि वसतु अनेक मनमुखि नही पाईऐ ॥
Anṯar vasaṯ anek manmukẖ nahī pā▫ī▫ai.
Deep within are infinite substances, but the self-willed manmukh does not find them.

ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਈਐ ॥੩॥
हउमै गरबै गरबु आपि खुआईऐ ॥३॥
Ha▫umai garbai garab āp kẖu▫ā▫ī▫ai. ||3||
In egotism and pride, the mortal's proud self consumes him. ||3||

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਈਐ
नानक आपे आपि आपि खुआईऐ ॥
Nānak āpe āp āp kẖu▫ā▫ī▫ai.
O Nanak, his identity consumes his identical identity.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੬੫॥
गुरमति मनि परगासु सचा पाईऐ ॥४॥१३॥६५॥
Gurmaṯ man pargās sacẖā pā▫ī▫ai. ||4||13||65||
Through the Guru's Teachings, the mind is illumined, and meets the True Lord. ||4||13||65||

Rāg āsāvarī gẖar 16 ke 2 mėhlā 4 suḏẖang
Raag Aasaavaree, 2 Of Sixteenth House, Fourth Mehl, Sudhang:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰਉ
हउ अनदिनु हरि नामु कीरतनु करउ ॥
Ha▫o an▫ḏin har nām kīrṯan kara▫o.
Night and day, I sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the Name of the Lord.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਇਆ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
सतिगुरि मो कउ हरि नामु बताइआ हउ हरि बिनु खिनु पलु रहि न सकउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṯgur mo ka▫o har nām baṯā▫i▫ā ha▫o har bin kẖin pal rėh na saka▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The True Guru has revealed to me the Name of the Lord; without the Lord, I cannot live, for a moment, even an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਹਮਰੈ ਸ੍ਰਵਣੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਹਉ ਇਕੁ ਖਿਨੁ
हमरै स्रवणु सिमरनु हरि कीरतनु हउ हरि बिनु रहि न सकउ हउ इकु खिनु ॥
Hamrai sarvaṇ simran har kīrṯan ha▫o har bin rėh na saka▫o ha▫o ik kẖin.
My ears hear the Lord's Kirtan, and I contemplate Him; without the Lord, I cannot live, even for an instant.

ਜੈਸੇ ਹੰਸੁ ਸਰਵਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਬਿਨੁ ॥੧॥
जैसे हंसु सरवर बिनु रहि न सकै तैसे हरि जनु किउ रहै हरि सेवा बिनु ॥१॥
Jaise hans sarvar bin rėh na sakai ṯaise har jan ki▫o rahai har sevā bin. ||1||
As the swan cannot live without the lake, how can the Lord's slave live without serving Him? ||1||

ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਮੋਹ ਅਪਮਾਨ
किनहूं प्रीति लाई दूजा भाउ रिद धारि किनहूं प्रीति लाई मोह अपमान ॥
Kinhūʼn parīṯ lā▫ī ḏūjā bẖā▫o riḏ ḏẖār kinhūʼn parīṯ lā▫ī moh apmān.
Some enshrine love for duality in their hearts, and some pledge love for worldly attachments and ego.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਪਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥੧੪॥੬੬॥
हरि जन प्रीति लाई हरि निरबाण पद नानक सिमरत हरि हरि भगवान ॥२॥१४॥६६॥
Har jan parīṯ lā▫ī har nirbāṇ paḏ Nānak simraṯ har har bẖagvān. ||2||14||66||
The Lord's servant embraces love for the Lord and the state of Nirvaanaa; Nanak contemplates the Lord, the Lord God. ||2||14||66||

ਆਸਾਵਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ
आसावरी महला ४ ॥
Āsāvarī mėhlā 4.
Aasaavaree, Fourth Mehl:

ਮਾਈ ਮੋਰੋ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਰੀ ਮਾਈ
माई मोरो प्रीतमु रामु बतावहु री माई ॥
Mā▫ī moro parīṯam rām baṯāvhu rī mā▫ī.
O mother, my mother, tell me about my Beloved Lord.

ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਕਰਹਲੁ ਬੇਲਿ ਰੀਝਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
हउ हरि बिनु खिनु पलु रहि न सकउ जैसे करहलु बेलि रीझाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ha▫o har bin kẖin pal rėh na saka▫o jaise karhal bel rījẖā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the Lord, I cannot live for a moment, even an instant; I love Him, like the camel loves the vine. ||1||Pause||

ਹਮਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਬਿਰਕਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਮੀਤ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ
हमरा मनु बैराग बिरकतु भइओ हरि दरसन मीत कै ताई ॥
Hamrā man bairāg birkaṯ bẖa▫i▫o har ḏarsan mīṯ kai ṯā▫ī.
My mind has become sad and distant, longing for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, my Friend.

ਜੈਸੇ ਅਲਿ ਕਮਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੈ ਤੈਸੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਨੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
जैसे अलि कमला बिनु रहि न सकै तैसे मोहि हरि बिनु रहनु न जाई ॥१॥
Jaise al kamlā bin rėh na sakai ṯaise mohi har bin rahan na jā▫ī. ||1||
As the bumblebee cannot live without the lotus, I cannot live without the Lord. ||1||

ਰਾਖੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਜਗਦੀਸੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ
राखु सरणि जगदीसुर पिआरे मोहि सरधा पूरि हरि गुसाई ॥
Rākẖ saraṇ jagḏīsur pi▫āre mohi sarḏẖā pūr har gusā▫ī.
Keep me under Your Protection, O Beloved Master of the Universe; fulfill my faith, O Lord of the World.
