ਮਹਲਾ ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ਕੇ
महला ४ रागु आसा घरु ६ के ३ ॥
Mėhlā 4 rāg āsā gẖar 6 ke 3.
Fourth Mehl, Raag Aasaa, 3 Of Sixth House:

ਹਥਿ ਕਰਿ ਤੰਤੁ ਵਜਾਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਥੋਥਰ ਵਾਜੈ ਬੇਨ
हथि करि तंतु वजावै जोगी थोथर वाजै बेन ॥
Hath kar ṯanṯ vajāvai jogī thothar vājai ben.
You may pluck the strings with your hand, O Yogi, but your playing of the harp is in vain.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਭੇਨ ॥੧॥
गुरमति हरि गुण बोलहु जोगी इहु मनूआ हरि रंगि भेन ॥१॥
Gurmaṯ har guṇ bolhu jogī ih manū▫ā har rang bẖen. ||1||
Under Guru's Instruction, chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, O Yogi, and this mind of yours shall be imbued with the Lord's Love. ||1||

ਜੋਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ
जोगी हरि देहु मती उपदेसु ॥
Jogī har ḏeh maṯī upḏes.
O Yogi, give your intellect the Teachings of the Lord.

ਜੁਗੁ ਜੁਗੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਹਮ ਆਦੇਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जुगु जुगु हरि हरि एको वरतै तिसु आगै हम आदेसु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jug jug har har eko varṯai ṯis āgai ham āḏes. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Lord, the One Lord, is pervading throughout all the ages; I humbly bow down to Him. ||1||Pause||

ਗਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਗ ਭਾਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖੇਲੈ ਖੇਲ
गावहि राग भाति बहु बोलहि इहु मनूआ खेलै खेल ॥
Gāvahi rāg bẖāṯ baho bolėh ih manū▫ā kẖelai kẖel.
You sing in so many Ragas and harmonies, and you talk so much, but this mind of yours is only playing a game.

ਜੋਵਹਿ ਕੂਪ ਸਿੰਚਨ ਕਉ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਲ ਗਏ ਚਰਿ ਬੇਲ ॥੨॥
जोवहि कूप सिंचन कउ बसुधा उठि बैल गए चरि बेल ॥२॥
Jovėh kūp sincẖan ka▫o basuḏẖā uṯẖ bail ga▫e cẖar bel. ||2||
You work the well and irrigate the fields, but the oxen have already left to graze in the jungle. ||2||

ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਮ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਮੈ ਹਰਿਆ ਖੇਤੁ
काइआ नगर महि करम हरि बोवहु हरि जामै हरिआ खेतु ॥
Kā▫i▫ā nagar mėh karam har bovhu har jāmai hari▫ā kẖeṯ.
In the field of the body, plant the Lord's Name, and the Lord will sprout there, like a lush green field.

ਮਨੂਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਬੈਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੋਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਜੇਤੁ ॥੩॥
मनूआ असथिरु बैलु मनु जोवहु हरि सिंचहु गुरमति जेतु ॥३॥
Manū▫ā asthir bail man jovhu har sincẖahu gurmaṯ jeṯ. ||3||
O mortal, hook up your unstable mind like an ox, and irrigate your fields with the Lord's Name, through the Guru's Teachings. ||3||

ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਭ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਜੋ ਦੇਹੁ ਮਤੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਚੇਲ
जोगी जंगम स्रिसटि सभ तुमरी जो देहु मती तितु चेल ॥
Jogī jangam sarisat sabẖ ṯumrī jo ḏeh maṯī ṯiṯ cẖel.
The Yogis, the wandering Jangams, and all the world is Yours, O Lord. According to the wisdom which You give them, so do they follow their ways.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਪੇਲ ॥੪॥੯॥੬੧॥
जन नानक के प्रभ अंतरजामी हरि लावहु मनूआ पेल ॥४॥९॥६१॥
Jan Nānak ke parabẖ anṯarjāmī har lāvhu manū▫ā pel. ||4||9||61||
O Lord God of servant Nanak, O Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts, please link my mind to You. ||4||9||61||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ४ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 4.
Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:

ਕਬ ਕੋ ਭਾਲੈ ਘੁੰਘਰੂ ਤਾਲਾ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਬਜਾਵੈ ਰਬਾਬੁ
कब को भालै घुंघरू ताला कब को बजावै रबाबु ॥
Kab ko bẖālai gẖungẖrū ṯālā kab ko bajāvai rabāb.
How long must one search for angle bells and cymbals, and how long must one play the guitar?

ਆਵਤ ਜਾਤ ਬਾਰ ਖਿਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਹਉ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਮਾਰਉ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
आवत जात बार खिनु लागै हउ तब लगु समारउ नामु ॥१॥
Āvaṯ jāṯ bār kẖin lāgai ha▫o ṯab lag samāra▫o nām. ||1||
In the brief instant between coming and going, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਐਸੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ
मेरै मनि ऐसी भगति बनि आई ॥
Merai man aisī bẖagaṯ ban ā▫ī.
Such is the devotional love which has been produced in my mind.

ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
हउ हरि बिनु खिनु पलु रहि न सकउ जैसे जल बिनु मीनु मरि जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ha▫o har bin kẖin pal rėh na saka▫o jaise jal bin mīn mar jā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the Lord, I cannot live even for an instant, like the fish which dies without water. ||1||Pause||

ਕਬ ਕੋਊ ਮੇਲੈ ਪੰਚ ਸਤ ਗਾਇਣ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਗ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਠਾਵੈ
कब कोऊ मेलै पंच सत गाइण कब को राग धुनि उठावै ॥
Kab ko▫ū melai pancẖ saṯ gā▫iṇ kab ko rāg ḏẖun uṯẖāvai.
How long must one tune the five strings, and assemble the seven singers, and how long will they raise their voices in song?

ਮੇਲਤ ਚੁਨਤ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਚਸਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
मेलत चुनत खिनु पलु चसा लागै तब लगु मेरा मनु राम गुन गावै ॥२॥
Melaṯ cẖunaṯ kẖin pal cẖasā lāgai ṯab lag merā man rām gun gāvai. ||2||
In the time it takes to select and assemble these musicians, a moment elapses, and my mind sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਕਬ ਕੋ ਨਾਚੈ ਪਾਵ ਪਸਾਰੈ ਕਬ ਕੋ ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰੈ
कब को नाचै पाव पसारै कब को हाथ पसारै ॥
Kab ko nācẖai pāv pasārai kab ko hāth pasārai.
How long must one dance and stretch out one's feet, and how long must one reach out with one's hands?

ਹਾਥ ਪਾਵ ਪਸਾਰਤ ਬਿਲਮੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
हाथ पाव पसारत बिलमु तिलु लागै तब लगु मेरा मनु राम सम्हारै ॥३॥
Hāth pāv pasāraṯ bilam ṯil lāgai ṯab lag merā man rām samĥārai. ||3||
Stretching out one's hands and feet, there is a moment's delay; and then, my mind meditates on the Lord. ||3||

ਕਬ ਕੋਊ ਲੋਗਨ ਕਉ ਪਤੀਆਵੈ ਲੋਕਿ ਪਤੀਣੈ ਨਾ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ
कब कोऊ लोगन कउ पतीआवै लोकि पतीणै ना पति होइ ॥
Kab ko▫ū logan ka▫o paṯī▫āvai lok paṯīṇai nā paṯ ho▫e.
How long must one satisfy the people, in order to obtain honor?

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਤਾ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਰੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੬੨॥
जन नानक हरि हिरदै सद धिआवहु ता जै जै करे सभु कोइ ॥४॥१०॥६२॥
Jan Nānak har hirḏai saḏ ḏẖi▫āvahu ṯā jai jai kare sabẖ ko▫e. ||4||10||62||
O servant Nanak, meditate forever in your heart on the Lord, and then everyone will congratulate you. ||4||10||62||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ४ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 4.
Aasaa, Fourth Mehl:

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ
सतसंगति मिलीऐ हरि साधू मिलि संगति हरि गुण गाइ ॥
Saṯsangaṯ milī▫ai har sāḏẖū mil sangaṯ har guṇ gā▫e.
Join the Sat Sangat, the Lord's True Congregation; joining the Company of the Holy, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਬਲਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
गिआन रतनु बलिआ घटि चानणु अगिआनु अंधेरा जाइ ॥१॥
Gi▫ān raṯan bali▫ā gẖat cẖānaṇ agi▫ān anḏẖerā jā▫e. ||1||
With the sparkling jewel of spiritual wisdom, the heart is illumined, and ignorance is dispelled. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਚਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ
हरि जन नाचहु हरि हरि धिआइ ॥
Har jan nācẖahu har har ḏẖi▫ā▫e.
O humble servant of the Lord, let your dancing be meditation on the Lord, Har, Har.

ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਹਮ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਧੋਵਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
ऐसे संत मिलहि मेरे भाई हम जन के धोवह पाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Aise sanṯ milėh mere bẖā▫ī ham jan ke ḏẖovah pā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
If only I cold meet such Saints, O my Siblings of Destiny; I would wash the feet of such servants. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ
हरि हरि नामु जपहु मन मेरे अनदिनु हरि लिव लाइ ॥
Har har nām japahu man mere an▫ḏin har liv lā▫e.
Meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O my mind; night and day, center your consciousness on the Lord.

ਜੋ ਇਛਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਭੂਖ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੨॥
जो इछहु सोई फलु पावहु फिरि भूख न लागै आइ ॥२॥
Jo icẖẖahu so▫ī fal pāvhu fir bẖūkẖ na lāgai ā▫e. ||2||
You shall have the fruits of your desires, and you shall never feel hunger again. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੋਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇ
आपे हरि अपर्मपरु करता हरि आपे बोलि बुलाइ ॥
Āpe har aprampar karṯā har āpe bol bulā▫e.
The Infinite Lord Himself is the Creator; the Lord Himself speaks, and causes us to speak.

ਸੇਈ ਸੰਤ ਭਲੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥
सेई संत भले तुधु भावहि जिन्ह की पति पावहि थाइ ॥३॥
Se▫ī sanṯ bẖale ṯuḏẖ bẖāvėh jinĥ kī paṯ pāvahi thā▫e. ||3||
The Saints are good, who are pleasing to Your Will; their honor is approved by You. ||3||

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖਿ ਰਾਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਿਉ ਆਖੈ ਤਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ
नानकु आखि न राजै हरि गुण जिउ आखै तिउ सुखु पाइ ॥
Nānak ākẖ na rājai har guṇ ji▫o ākẖai ṯi▫o sukẖ pā▫e.
Nanak is not satisfied by chanting the Lord's Glorious Praises; the more he chants them, the more he is at peace.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਦੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਵਣਜਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੬੩॥
भगति भंडार दीए हरि अपुने गुण गाहकु वणजि लै जाइ ॥४॥११॥६३॥
Bẖagaṯ bẖandār ḏī▫e har apune guṇ gāhak vaṇaj lai jā▫e. ||4||11||63||
The Lord Himself has bestowed the treasure of devotional love; His customers purchase virtues, and carry them home. ||4||11||63||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
