ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੧॥
गुर परसादी सेव कराए ॥१॥
Gur parsādī sev karā▫e. ||1||
By Guru's Grace, one serves Him. ||1||
|
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
गिआन रतनि सभ सोझी होइ ॥
Gi▫ān raṯan sabẖ sojẖī ho▫e.
With the jewel of spiritual wisdom, total understanding is obtained.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर परसादि अगिआनु बिनासै अनदिनु जागै वेखै सचु सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur parsāḏ agi▫ān bināsai an▫ḏin jāgai vekẖai sacẖ so▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By Guru's Grace, ignorance is dispelled; one then remains wakeful, night and day, and beholds the True Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
मोहु गुमानु गुर सबदि जलाए ॥
Moh gumān gur sabaḏ jalā▫e.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, attachment and pride are burnt away.
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
पूरे गुर ते सोझी पाए ॥
Pūre gur ṯe sojẖī pā▫e.
From the Perfect Guru, true understanding is obtained.
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
अंतरि महलु गुर सबदि पछाणै ॥
Anṯar mahal gur sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇai.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one realizes the Lord's Presence within.
|
ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਰਹੈ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥੨॥
आवण जाणु रहै थिरु नामि समाणे ॥२॥
Āvaṇ jāṇ rahai thir nām samāṇe. ||2||
Then, one's coming and going cease, and one becomes stable, absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
|
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
जमणु मरणा है संसारु ॥
Jamaṇ marṇā hai sansār.
The world is tied to birth and death.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥
मनमुखु अचेतु माइआ मोहु गुबारु ॥
Manmukẖ acẖeṯ mā▫i▫ā moh gubār.
The unconscious, self-willed manmukh is enveloped in the darkness of Maya and emotional attachment.
|
ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਹੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
पर निंदा बहु कूड़ु कमावै ॥
Par ninḏā baho kūṛ kamāvai.
He slanders others, and practices utter falsehood.
|
ਵਿਸਟਾ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
विसटा का कीड़ा विसटा माहि समावै ॥३॥
vistā kā kīṛā vistā māhi samāvai. ||3||
He is a maggot in manure, and into manure he is absorbed. ||3||
|
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
सतसंगति मिलि सभ सोझी पाए ॥
Saṯsangaṯ mil sabẖ sojẖī pā▫e.
Joining the True Congregation, the Sat Sangat, total understanding is obtained.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
गुर का सबदु हरि भगति द्रिड़ाए ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ har bẖagaṯ driṛ▫ā▫e.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, devotional love for the Lord is implanted.
|
ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
भाणा मंने सदा सुखु होइ ॥
Bẖāṇā manne saḏā sukẖ ho▫e.
One who surrenders to the Lord's Will is peaceful forever.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੯॥
नानक सचि समावै सोइ ॥४॥१०॥४९॥
Nānak sacẖ samāvai so▫e. ||4||10||49||
O Nanak, he is absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||10||49||
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਪੰਚਪਦੇ ॥
आसा महला ३ पंचपदे ॥
Āsā mėhlā 3 pancẖpaḏe.
Aasaa, Third Mehl, Panch-Padas:
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥
सबदि मरै तिसु सदा अनंद ॥
Sabaḏ marai ṯis saḏā anand.
One who dies in the Word of the Shabad, finds eternal bliss.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
सतिगुर भेटे गुर गोबिंद ॥
Saṯgur bẖete gur gobinḏ.
He is united with the True Guru, the Guru, the Lord God.
|
ਨਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
ना फिरि मरै न आवै जाइ ॥
Nā fir marai na āvai jā▫e.
He does not die any more, and he does not come or go.
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
पूरे गुर ते साचि समाइ ॥१॥
Pūre gur ṯe sācẖ samā▫e. ||1||
Through the Perfect Guru, he merges with the True Lord. ||1||
|
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਲੇਖੁ ॥
जिन्ह कउ नामु लिखिआ धुरि लेखु ॥
Jinĥ ka▫o nām likẖi▫ā ḏẖur lekẖ.
One who has the Naam, the Name of the Lord, written in his pre-ordained destiny,
|
ਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਵਿਸੇਖੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ते अनदिनु नामु सदा धिआवहि गुर पूरे ते भगति विसेखु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧe an▫ḏin nām saḏā ḏẖi▫āvahi gur pūre ṯe bẖagaṯ visekẖ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
night and day, meditates forever on the Naam; he obtains the wondrous blessing of devotional love from the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
जिन्ह कउ हरि प्रभु लए मिलाइ ॥
Jinĥ ka▫o har parabẖ la▫e milā▫e.
Those, whom the Lord God has blended with Himself -
|
ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੀ ਗਹਣ ਗਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
तिन्ह की गहण गति कही न जाइ ॥
Ŧinĥ kī gahaṇ gaṯ kahī na jā▫e.
their sublime state cannot be described.
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਿਤੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
पूरै सतिगुर दिती वडिआई ॥
Pūrai saṯgur ḏiṯī vadi▫ā▫ī.
The Perfect True Guru has given the Glorious Greatness,
|
ਊਤਮ ਪਦਵੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
ऊतम पदवी हरि नामि समाई ॥२॥
Ūṯam paḏvī har nām samā▫ī. ||2||
of the most exalted order, and I am absorbed into the Lord's Name. ||2||
|
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥
जो किछु करे सु आपे आपि ॥
Jo kicẖẖ kare so āpe āp.
Whatever the Lord does, He does all by Himself.
|
ਏਕ ਘੜੀ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਿ ॥
एक घड़ी महि थापि उथापि ॥
Ėk gẖaṛī mėh thāp uthāp.
In an instant, He establishes, and disestablishes.
|
ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਣਾ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
कहि कहि कहणा आखि सुणाए ॥
Kahi kahi kahṇā ākẖ suṇā▫e.
By merely speaking, talking, shouting and preaching about the Lord,
|
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਘਾਲੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥
जे सउ घाले थाइ न पाए ॥३॥
Je sa▫o gẖāle thā▫e na pā▫e. ||3||
even hundreds of times, the mortal is not approved. ||3||
|
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕੈ ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
जिन्ह कै पोतै पुंनु तिन्हा गुरू मिलाए ॥
Jinĥ kai poṯai punn ṯinĥā gurū milā▫e.
The Guru meets with those, who take virtue as their treasure;
|
ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
सचु बाणी गुरु सबदु सुणाए ॥
Sacẖ baṇī gur sabaḏ suṇā▫e.
they listen to the True Word of the Guru's Bani, the Shabad.
|
ਜਹਾਂ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਤਹਾਂ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਏ ॥
जहां सबदु वसै तहां दुखु जाए ॥
Jahāʼn sabaḏ vasai ṯahāʼn ḏukẖ jā▫e.
Pain departs, from that place where the Shabad abides.
|
ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥
गिआनि रतनि साचै सहजि समाए ॥४॥
Gi▫ān raṯan sācẖai sahj samā▫e. ||4||
By the jewel of spiritual wisdom, one is easily absorbed into the True Lord. ||4||
|
ਨਾਵੈ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
नावै जेवडु होरु धनु नाही कोइ ॥
Nāvai jevad hor ḏẖan nāhī ko▫e.
No other wealth is as great as the Naam.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
जिस नो बखसे साचा सोइ ॥
Jis no bakẖse sācẖā so▫e.
It is bestowed only by the True Lord.
|
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
पूरै सबदि मंनि वसाए ॥
Pūrai sabaḏ man vasā▫e.
Through the Perfect Word of the Shabad, it abides in the mind.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੫॥੧੧॥੫੦॥
नानक नामि रते सुखु पाए ॥५॥११॥५०॥
Nānak nām raṯe sukẖ pā▫e. ||5||11||50||
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, peace is obtained. ||5||11||50||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
आसा महला ३ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 3.
Aasaa, Third Mehl:
|
ਨਿਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਹੁ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਾਏ ॥
निरति करे बहु वाजे वजाए ॥
Niraṯ kare baho vāje vajā▫e.
One may dance and play numerous instruments;
|
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਏ ॥
इहु मनु अंधा बोला है किसु आखि सुणाए ॥
Ih man anḏẖā bolā hai kis ākẖ suṇā▫e.
but this mind is blind and deaf, so for whose benefit is this speaking and preaching?
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਅਨਲ ਵਾਉ ॥
अंतरि लोभु भरमु अनल वाउ ॥
Anṯar lobẖ bẖaram anal vā▫o.
Deep within is the fire of greed, and the dust-storm of doubt.
|
ਦੀਵਾ ਬਲੈ ਨ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
दीवा बलै न सोझी पाइ ॥१॥
Ḏīvā balai na sojẖī pā▫e. ||1||
The lamp of knowledge is not burning, and understanding is not obtained. ||1||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
गुरमुखि भगति घटि चानणु होइ ॥
Gurmukẖ bẖagaṯ gẖat cẖānaṇ ho▫e.
The Gurmukh has the light of devotional worship within his heart.
|
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
आपु पछाणि मिलै प्रभु सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Āp pacẖẖāṇ milai parabẖ so▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Understanding his own self, he meets God. ||1||Pause||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਭਾਉ ॥
गुरमुखि निरति हरि लागै भाउ ॥
Gurmukẖ niraṯ har lāgai bẖā▫o.
The Gurmukh's dance is to embrace love for the Lord;
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਤਾਲ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
पूरे ताल विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥
Pūre ṯāl vicẖahu āp gavā▫e.
to the beat of the drum, he sheds his ego from within.
|
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
मेरा प्रभु साचा आपे जाणु ॥
Merā parabẖ sācẖā āpe jāṇ.
My God is True; He Himself is the Knower of all.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
गुर कै सबदि अंतरि ब्रहमु पछाणु ॥२॥
Gur kai sabaḏ anṯar barahm pacẖẖāṇ. ||2||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, recognize the Creator Lord within yourself. ||2||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
गुरमुखि भगति अंतरि प्रीति पिआरु ॥
Gurmukẖ bẖagaṯ anṯar parīṯ pi▫ār.
The Gurmukh is filled with devotional love for the Beloved Lord.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
गुर का सबदु सहजि वीचारु ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ sahj vīcẖār.
He intuitively reflects upon the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
गुरमुखि भगति जुगति सचु सोइ ॥
Gurmukẖ bẖagaṯ jugaṯ sacẖ so▫e.
For the Gurmukh, loving devotional worship is the way to the True Lord.
|
ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਿਰਤਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
पाखंडि भगति निरति दुखु होइ ॥३॥
Pakẖand bẖagaṯ niraṯ ḏukẖ ho▫e. ||3||
But the dances and the worship of the hypocrites bring only pain. ||3||
|
ਏਹਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ॥
एहा भगति जनु जीवत मरै ॥
Ėhā bẖagaṯ jan jīvaṯ marai.
True Devotion is to remain dead while yet alive.
