ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ
हिरदै नामु वडी वडिआई ॥
Hirḏai nām vadī vadi▫ā▫ī.
His greatest greatness is that the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is in his heart.

ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
सदा प्रीतमु प्रभु होइ सखाई ॥१॥
Saḏā parīṯam parabẖ ho▫e sakẖā▫ī. ||1||
The Beloved Lord God is his constant companion. ||1||

ਸੋ ਲਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ
सो लाला जीवतु मरै ॥
So lālā jīvaṯ marai.
He alone is the Lord's slave, who remains dead while yet alive.

ਸੋਗੁ ਹਰਖੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਉਧਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
सोगु हरखु दुइ सम करि जाणै गुर परसादी सबदि उधरै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sog harakẖ ḏu▫e sam kar jāṇai gur parsādī sabaḏ uḏẖrai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He looks upon pleasure and pain alike; by Guru's Grace, he is saved through the Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||

ਕਰਣੀ ਕਾਰ ਧੁਰਹੁ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ
करणी कार धुरहु फुरमाई ॥
Karṇī kār ḏẖarahu furmā▫ī.
He does his deeds according to the Lord's Primal Command.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ
बिनु सबदै को थाइ न पाई ॥
Bin sabḏai ko thā▫e na pā▫ī.
Without the Shabad, no one is approved.

ਕਰਣੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਈ
करणी कीरति नामु वसाई ॥
Karṇī kīraṯ nām vasā▫ī.
Singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, the Naam abides within the mind.

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਢਿਲ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
आपे देवै ढिल न पाई ॥२॥
Āpe ḏevai dẖil na pā▫ī. ||2||
He Himself gives His gifts, without hesitation. ||2||

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ
मनमुखि भरमि भुलै संसारु ॥
Manmukẖ bẖaram bẖulai sansār.
The self-willed manmukh wanders around the world in doubt.

ਬਿਨੁ ਰਾਸੀ ਕੂੜਾ ਕਰੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ
बिनु रासी कूड़ा करे वापारु ॥
Bin rāsī kūṛā kare vāpār.
Without any capital, he makes false transactions.

ਵਿਣੁ ਰਾਸੀ ਵਖਰੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ
विणु रासी वखरु पलै न पाइ ॥
viṇ rāsī vakẖar palai na pā▫e.
Without any capital, he does not obtain any merchandise.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੁਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੩॥
मनमुखि भुला जनमु गवाइ ॥३॥
Manmukẖ bẖulā janam gavā▫e. ||3||
The mistaken manmukh wastes away his life. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੁ ਲਾਲਾ ਹੋਇ
सतिगुरु सेवे सु लाला होइ ॥
Saṯgur seve so lālā ho▫e.
One who serves the True Guru is the Lord's slave.

ਊਤਮ ਜਾਤੀ ਊਤਮੁ ਸੋਇ
ऊतम जाती ऊतमु सोइ ॥
Ūṯam jāṯī ūṯam so▫e.
His social status is exalted, and his reputation is exalted.

ਗੁਰ ਪਉੜੀ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ
गुर पउड़ी सभ दू ऊचा होइ ॥
Gur pa▫oṛī sabẖ ḏū ūcẖā ho▫e.
Climbing the Guru's Ladder, he becomes the most exalted of all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੭॥੪੬॥
नानक नामि वडाई होइ ॥४॥७॥४६॥
Nānak nām vadā▫ī ho▫e. ||4||7||46||
O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, greatness is obtained. ||4||7||46||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ३ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 3.
Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਝੂਠੋ ਝੂਠੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ
मनमुखि झूठो झूठु कमावै ॥
Manmukẖ jẖūṯẖo jẖūṯẖ kamāvai.
The self-willed manmukh practices falsehood, only falsehood.

ਖਸਮੈ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਕਦੇ ਪਾਵੈ
खसमै का महलु कदे न पावै ॥
Kẖasmai kā mahal kaḏe na pāvai.
He never attains the Mansion of the Lord Presence.

ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੀ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵੈ
दूजै लगी भरमि भुलावै ॥
Ḏūjai lagī bẖaram bẖulāvai.
Attached to duality, he wanders, deluded by doubt.

ਮਮਤਾ ਬਾਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
ममता बाधा आवै जावै ॥१॥
Mamṯā bāḏẖā āvai jāvai. ||1||
Entangled in worldly attachments, he comes and goes. ||1||

ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕਾ ਮਨ ਦੇਖੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ
दोहागणी का मन देखु सीगारु ॥
Ḏuhāgaṇī kā man ḏekẖ sīgār.
Behold, the decorations of the discarded bride!

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤਿ ਧਨਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਝੂਠੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਾਖੰਡ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
पुत्र कलति धनि माइआ चितु लाए झूठु मोहु पाखंड विकारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Puṯar kalaṯ ḏẖan mā▫i▫ā cẖiṯ lā▫e jẖūṯẖ moh pakẖand vikār. Rahā▫o. ||1||
Her consciousness is attached to children, spouse, wealth, and Maya, falsehood, emotional attachment, hypocrisy and corruption. ||1||Pause||

ਸਦਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ
सदा सोहागणि जो प्रभ भावै ॥
Saḏā sohagaṇ jo parabẖ bẖāvai.
She who is pleasing to God is forever a happy soul-bride.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਵੈ
गुर सबदी सीगारु बणावै ॥
Gur sabḏī sīgār baṇāvai.
She makes the Word of the Guru's Shabad her decoration.

ਸੇਜ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਵੈ
सेज सुखाली अनदिनु हरि रावै ॥
Sej sukẖālī an▫ḏin har rāvai.
Her bed is so comfortable; she enjoys her Lord, night and day.

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
मिलि प्रीतम सदा सुखु पावै ॥२॥
Mil parīṯam saḏā sukẖ pāvai. ||2||
Meeting her Beloved, the obtains eternal peace. ||2||

ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਪਿਆਰੁ
सा सोहागणि साची जिसु साचि पिआरु ॥
Sā sohagaṇ sācẖī jis sācẖ pi▫ār.
She is a true, virtuous soul-bride, who enshrines love for the True Lord.

ਅਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ
अपणा पिरु राखै सदा उर धारि ॥
Apṇā pir rākẖai saḏā ur ḏẖār.
She keeps her Husband Lord always clasped to her heart.

ਨੇੜੈ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ
नेड़ै वेखै सदा हदूरि ॥
Neṛai vekẖai saḏā haḏūr.
She sees Him near at hand, ever-present.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਰਬ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
मेरा प्रभु सरब रहिआ भरपूरि ॥३॥
Merā parabẖ sarab rahi▫ā bẖarpūr. ||3||
My God is all-pervading everywhere. ||3||

ਆਗੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਜਾਇ
आगै जाति रूपु न जाइ ॥
Āgai jāṯ rūp na jā▫e.
Social status and beauty will not go with you hereafter.

ਤੇਹਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ
तेहा होवै जेहे करम कमाइ ॥
Ŧehā hovai jehe karam kamā▫e.
As are the deeds done here, so does one become.

ਸਬਦੇ ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ
सबदे ऊचो ऊचा होइ ॥
Sabḏe ūcẖo ūcẖā ho▫e.
Through the Word of the Shabad, one becomes the highest of the high.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੮॥੪੭॥
नानक साचि समावै सोइ ॥४॥८॥४७॥
Nānak sācẖ samāvai so▫e. ||4||8||47||
O Nanak, he is absorbed in the True Lord. ||4||8||47||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ
आसा महला ३ ॥
Āsā mėhlā 3.
Aasaa, Third Mehl:

ਭਗਤਿ ਰਤਾ ਜਨੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ
भगति रता जनु सहजि सुभाइ ॥
Bẖagaṯ raṯā jan sahj subẖā▫e.
The Lord's humble servant is imbued with devotional love, effortlessly and spontaneously.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ
गुर कै भै साचै साचि समाइ ॥
Gur kai bẖai sācẖai sācẖ samā▫e.
Through awe and fear of the Guru, he is truly absorbed in the True One.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ
बिनु गुर पूरे भगति न होइ ॥
Bin gur pūre bẖagaṯ na ho▫e.
Without the Perfect Guru, devotional love is not obtained.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਰੁੰਨੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥੧॥
मनमुख रुंने अपनी पति खोइ ॥१॥
Manmukẖ runne apnī paṯ kẖo▫e. ||1||
The self-willed manmukhs lose their honor, and cry out in pain. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇ
मेरे मन हरि जपि सदा धिआइ ॥
Mere man har jap saḏā ḏẖi▫ā▫e.
O my mind, chant the Lord's Name, and meditate on Him forever.

ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
सदा अनंदु होवै दिनु राती जो इछै सोई फलु पाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saḏā anand hovai ḏin rāṯī jo icẖẖai so▫ī fal pā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You shall always be in ecstasy, day and night, and you shall obtain the fruits of your desires. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਏ
गुर पूरे ते पूरा पाए ॥
Gur pūre ṯe pūrā pā▫e.
Through the Perfect Guru, the Perfect Lord is obtained,

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ
हिरदै सबदु सचु नामु वसाए ॥
Hirḏai sabaḏ sacẖ nām vasā▫e.
and the Shabad, the True Name, is enshrined in the mind.

ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਏ
अंतरु निरमलु अम्रित सरि नाए ॥
Anṯar nirmal amriṯ sar nā▫e.
One who bathes in the Pool of Ambrosial Nectar becomes immaculately pure within.

ਸਦਾ ਸੂਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੨॥
सदा सूचे साचि समाए ॥२॥
Saḏā sūcẖe sācẖ samā▫e. ||2||
He becomes forever sanctified, and is absorbed in the True Lord. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ
हरि प्रभु वेखै सदा हजूरि ॥
Har parabẖ vekẖai saḏā hajūr.
He sees the Lord God ever-present.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ
गुर परसादि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥
Gur parsāḏ rahi▫ā bẖarpūr.
By Guru's Grace, he sees the Lord permeating and pervading everywhere.

ਜਹਾ ਜਾਉ ਤਹ ਵੇਖਾ ਸੋਇ
जहा जाउ तह वेखा सोइ ॥
Jahā jā▫o ṯah vekẖā so▫e.
Wherever I go, there I see Him.

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੩॥
गुर बिनु दाता अवरु न कोइ ॥३॥
Gur bin ḏāṯā avar na ko▫e. ||3||
Without the Guru, there is no other Giver. ||3||

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ
गुरु सागरु पूरा भंडार ॥
Gur sāgar pūrā bẖandār.
The Guru is the ocean, the perfect treasure,

ਊਤਮ ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਅਪਾਰ
ऊतम रतन जवाहर अपार ॥
Ūṯam raṯan javāhar apār.
the most precious jewel and priceless ruby.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ
गुर परसादी देवणहारु ॥
Gur parsādī ḏevaṇhār.
By Guru's Grace, the Great Giver blesses us;

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੯॥੪੮॥
नानक बखसे बखसणहारु ॥४॥९॥४८॥
Nānak bakẖse bakẖsaṇhār. ||4||9||48||
O Nanak, the Forgiving Lord forgives us. ||4||9||48||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਇਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ
गुरु साइरु सतिगुरु सचु सोइ ॥
Gur sā▫ir saṯgur sacẖ so▫e.
The Guru is the Ocean; the True Guru is the Embodiment of Truth.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਇ
पूरै भागि गुर सेवा होइ ॥
Pūrai bẖāg gur sevā ho▫e.
Through perfect good destiny, one serves the Guru.

ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ
सो बूझै जिसु आपि बुझाए ॥
So būjẖai jis āp bujẖā▫e.
He alone understands, whom the Lord Himself inspires to understand.
