ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਕਰਿ ਪਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Sabʰ kichʰ suṇḋaa vékʰ▫ḋaa ki▫o mukar pa▫i▫aa jaa▫é.
The Lord Hears and Sees every thing. How can, then, man refuse to admit?

ਪਾਪੋ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਪਾਪੇ ਪਚਹਿ ਪਚਾਇ ॥
Paapo paap kamaavḋé paapé pachėh pachaa▫é.
They, who commit sins upon sins, putrefy and die in sins.
|
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
So parabʰ naḋar na aavee manmukʰ boojʰ na paa▫é.
That Lord they perceive not. The self-willed obtain not understanding.

ਜਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੇ ਸੋਈ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੩॥੫੬॥
Jis vékʰaalé so▫ee vékʰæ Naanak gurmukʰ paa▫é. ||4||23||56||
He alone, whom God shows, sees Him. O Nanak! Through the Guru He is obtained.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਪੀੜ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Bin gur rog na ṫut▫ee ha▫umæ peeṛ na jaa▫é.
Without the Guru disease is not cured nor is the pain of pride removed.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Gur parsaadee man vasæ naamé rahæ samaa▫é.
By Guru’s grace God dwells in the mind and man remains merged in His Name.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Gur sabḋee har paa▫ee▫æ bin sabḋæ bʰaram bʰulaa▫é. ||1||
Through Guru’s hymns God is obtained. Without Gurbani the man is lost in doubt.

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Man ré nij gʰar vaasaa ho▫é.
O my Soul! thou shalt dwell in thy real Home.
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raam naam saalaahi ṫoo fir aavaṇ jaaṇ na ho▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Praise the name of the Lord thou shalt not again come and go. Pause.
|
ਹਰਿ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Har iko ḋaaṫaa varaṫḋaa ḋoojaa avar na ko▫é.
God alone, the Bestower, is doing everything. There is no other second.
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sabaḋ saalaahee man vasæ sėhjé hee sukʰ ho▫é.
If thou praise the Lord, He shall abide in thy mind and thou shalt automatically obtain peace.

ਸਭ ਨਦਰੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਜੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥
Sabʰ naḋree anḋar vékʰ▫ḋaa jæ bʰaavæ ṫæ ḋé▫é. ||2||
God beholds (keeps) all under His glance, He gives gift to Him whom He likes.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਸਭਾ ਗਣਤ ਹੈ ਗਣਤੈ ਨਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Ha▫umæ sabʰaa gaṇaṫ hæ gaṇṫæ na▫o sukʰ naahi.
In pride are all counts. Unto counting one’s doings there is no solace.
|
ਬਿਖੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥
Bikʰ kee kaar kamaavṇee bikʰ hee maahi samaahi.
Men take to evil ways and sink in evil.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਠਉਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਸਹਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Bin naavæ tʰa▫ur na paa▫inee jam pur ḋookʰ sahaahi. ||3||
Without Lord’s Name, they find no resting place and suffer agony in the city of death.
|
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਤਿਸੈ ਦਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
Jee▫o pind sabʰ ṫis ḋaa ṫisæ ḋaa aaḋʰaar.
The soul and body all being to Him and there is no support except that of Him.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Gur parsaadee bujʰee▫æ ṫaa paa▫é mokʰ ḋu▫aar.
If by Guru’s grace, man understand this it is then, that he attains to the door of salvation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੫੭॥
Naanak naam salaahi ṫooⁿ anṫ na paaraavaar. ||4||24||57||
O Nanak! Sing thou the praises of the Name of God whose limit, this and that end, no one knows.

ਤਿਨਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
Ṫinaa anand saḋaa sukʰ hæ jinaa sach naam aaḋʰaar.
They alone are in joy and ever-lasting peace who have the support of the True Name.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Gur sabḋee sach paa▫i▫aa ḋookʰ nivaaraṇhaar.
By Guru’s gospel they have obtained the True Being, the Destroyer of distress.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Saḋaa saḋaa saaché guṇ gaavahi saachæ naa▫é pi▫aar.
For ever and aye, they sing the praises of the True Lord and profess love for the True Name.

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਿਤੋਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Kirpaa kar kæ aapṇee ḋiṫon bʰagaṫ bʰandaar. ||1||
By showing His Mercy, the Lord has bestowed on them the treasures of His devotion.
|
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
Man ré saḋaa anand guṇ gaa▫é.
O My mind! everlasting bliss is acquired by singing Lord’s praises.
|
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sachee baṇee har paa▫ee▫æ har si▫o rahæ samaa▫é. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
Through the True Word God is gained and man remains blended with God. Pause.
|
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਤਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
Sachee bʰagṫee man laal ṫʰee▫aa raṫaa sahj subʰaa▫é.
With sincere worship, the mind goes red and is naturally, imbued with Lord’s love.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Gur sabḋee man mohi▫aa kahṇaa kachʰoo na jaa▫é.
By Guru’s Word the soul is so bewitched that its description cannot be given.

ਜਿਹਵਾ ਰਤੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਰਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
Jihvaa raṫee sabaḋ sachæ amriṫ peevæ ras guṇ gaa▫é.
The tongue is imbued with the True Name. It delightfully quaffs the Nectar of chanting God’s glories.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Gurmukʰ éhu rang paa▫ee▫æ jis no kirpaa karé rajaa▫é. ||2||
He, unto whom the Lord of Will shows mercy, obtains this Divine love, through the Guru.
|
ਸੰਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਸੁਤਿਆ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਇ ॥
Sansaa ih sansaar hæ suṫi▫aa ræṇ vihaa▫é.
This word is asleep in an illusion and in sleep the night (life) passes away.
|
ਇਕਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਢਿ ਲਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Ik aapṇæ bʰaaṇæ kadʰ la▫i▫an aapé la▫i▫on milaa▫é.
Some He delivers of His own will and unites with Himself.

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਚੁਕਾਇ ॥
Aapé hee aap man vasi▫aa maa▫i▫aa moh chukaa▫é.
He Himself abides within (man’s) mind and drives off love of mammon.

ਆਪਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਦਿਤੀਅਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੩॥
Aap vadaa▫ee ḋiṫee▫an gurmukʰ ḋé▫é bujʰaa▫é. ||3||
He Himself bestows honour and causes Himself to be understood through the Guru.
|
ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਭੁਲਿਆ ਲਏ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥
Sabʰnaa kaa ḋaaṫaa ék hæ bʰuli▫aa la▫é samjʰaa▫é.
The Lord alone is the Giver for all. He corrects those in error.

ਇਕਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਅਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਛਡਿਅਨੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Ik aapé aap kʰu▫aa▫i▫an ḋoojæ chʰadi▫an laa▫é.
He Himself has misled some and has attached them to duality.

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Gurmaṫee har paa▫ee▫æ joṫee joṫ milaa▫é.
Under Guru’s instruction God is attained and man’s soul merges with the Supreme Soul.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਤਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੫੮॥
An▫ḋin naamé raṫi▫aa Naanak naam samaa▫é. ||4||25||58||
By remaining imbued with Lord’s Name night and day, O Nanak! Mortal is absorbed in the Name.

ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Guṇvanṫee sach paa▫i▫aa ṫarisnaa ṫaj vikaar.
The virtuous attained the Truth by forsaking desire for vice.7
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Gur sabḋee man rangi▫aa rasnaa parém pi▫aar.
The mind of such is dyed in Guru’s word and on their tongue is the love and affection of God.
