ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि भजु मेरे मन गहिर ग्मभीरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har bẖaj mere man gahir gambẖīrā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
O my soul, vibrate on the Profound, Unfathomable Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
अनत तरंग भगति हरि रंगा ॥
Anaṯ ṯarang bẖagaṯ har rangā.
Loving devotion to the Lord brings endless waves of joy and delight.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੂਚੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
अनदिनु सूचे हरि गुण संगा ॥
An▫ḏin sūcẖe har guṇ sangā.
One who dwells with the Glorious Praises of the Lord, night and day, is sanctified.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
मिथिआ जनमु साकत संसारा ॥
Mithi▫ā janam sākaṯ sansārā.
The birth into the world of the faithless cynic is totally useless.
|
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
राम भगति जनु रहै निरारा ॥२॥
Rām bẖagaṯ jan rahai nirārā. ||2||
The humble devotee of the Lord remains unattached. ||2||
|
ਸੂਚੀ ਕਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
सूची काइआ हरि गुण गाइआ ॥
Sūcẖī kā▫i▫ā har guṇ gā▫i▫ā.
The body which sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord is sanctified.

ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
आतमु चीनि रहै लिव लाइआ ॥
Āṯam cẖīn rahai liv lā▫i▫ā.
The soul remains conscious of the Lord, absorbed in His Love.

ਆਦਿ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਹੀਰਾ ॥
आदि अपारु अपर्मपरु हीरा ॥
Āḏ apār aprampar hīrā.
The Lord is the Infinite Primal Being, beyond the beyond, the priceless jewel.

ਲਾਲਿ ਰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥੩॥
लालि रता मेरा मनु धीरा ॥३॥
Lāl raṯā merā man ḏẖīrā. ||3||
My mind is totally content, imbued with my Beloved. ||3||
|
ਕਥਨੀ ਕਹਹਿ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਮੂਏ ॥
कथनी कहहि कहहि से मूए ॥
Kathnī kahėh kahėh se mū▫e.
Those who speak and babble on and on, are truly dead.
|
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੂੰ ਹੈ ॥
सो प्रभु दूरि नाही प्रभु तूं है ॥
So parabẖ ḏūr nāhī parabẖ ṯūʼn hai.
God is not far away - O God, You are right here.

ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਛਾਇਆ ॥
सभु जगु देखिआ माइआ छाइआ ॥
Sabẖ jag ḏekẖi▫ā mā▫i▫ā cẖẖā▫i▫ā.
I have seen that the whole world is engrossed in Maya.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੭॥
नानक गुरमति नामु धिआइआ ॥४॥१७॥
Nānak gurmaṯ nām ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā. ||4||17||
O Nanak, through the Guru's Teachings, I meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||17||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਤਿਤੁਕਾ ॥
आसा महला १ तितुका ॥
Āsā mėhlā 1 ṯiṯukā.
Aasaa, First Mehl, Ti-Tukas:
|
ਕੋਈ ਭੀਖਕੁ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਖਾਇ ॥
कोई भीखकु भीखिआ खाइ ॥
Ko▫ī bẖīkẖak bẖīkẖi▫ā kẖā▫e.
One is a beggar, living on charity;
|
ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
कोई राजा रहिआ समाइ ॥
Ko▫ī rājā rahi▫ā samā▫e.
another is a king, absorbed in himself.
|
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਮਾਨੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਅਪਮਾਨੁ ॥
किस ही मानु किसै अपमानु ॥
Kis hī mān kisai apmān.
One receives honor, and another dishonor.
|
ਢਾਹਿ ਉਸਾਰੇ ਧਰੇ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
ढाहि उसारे धरे धिआनु ॥
Dẖāhi usāre ḏẖare ḏẖi▫ān.
The Lord destroys and creates; He is enshrined in His meditation.
|
ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
तुझ ते वडा नाही कोइ ॥
Ŧujẖ ṯe vadā nāhī ko▫e.
There is no other as great as You.
|
ਕਿਸੁ ਵੇਖਾਲੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
किसु वेखाली चंगा होइ ॥१॥
Kis vekẖālī cẖanga ho▫e. ||1||
So whom should I present to You? Who is good enough? ||1||
|
ਮੈ ਤਾਂ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
मै तां नामु तेरा आधारु ॥
Mai ṯāʼn nām ṯerā āḏẖār.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is my only Support.
|
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
तूं दाता करणहारु करतारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ŧūʼn ḏāṯā karanhār karṯār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You are the Great Giver, the Doer, the Creator. ||1||Pause||
|
ਵਾਟ ਨ ਪਾਵਉ ਵੀਗਾ ਜਾਉ ॥
वाट न पावउ वीगा जाउ ॥
vāt na pāva▫o vīgā jā▫o.
I have not walked on Your Path; I have followed the crooked path.
|
ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
दरगह बैसण नाही थाउ ॥
Ḏargėh baisaṇ nāhī thā▫o.
In the Court of the Lord, I find no place to sit.
|
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾ ਬੰਧੁ ॥
मन का अंधुला माइआ का बंधु ॥
Man kā anḏẖulā mā▫i▫ā kā banḏẖ.
I am mentally blind, in the bondage of Maya.

ਖੀਨ ਖਰਾਬੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਕੰਧੁ ॥
खीन खराबु होवै नित कंधु ॥
Kẖīn kẖarāb hovai niṯ kanḏẖ.
The wall of my body is breaking down, wearing away, growing weaker.
|
ਖਾਣ ਜੀਵਣ ਕੀ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਆਸ ॥
खाण जीवण की बहुती आस ॥
Kẖāṇ jīvaṇ kī bahuṯī ās.
You have such high hopes of eating and living -
|
ਲੇਖੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸ ॥੨॥
लेखै तेरै सास गिरास ॥२॥
Lekẖai ṯerai sās girās. ||2||
your breaths and morsels of food are already counted! ||2||
|
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
अहिनिसि अंधुले दीपकु देइ ॥
Ahinis anḏẖule ḏīpak ḏe▫e.
Night and day they are blind - please, bless them with Your Light.

ਭਉਜਲ ਡੂਬਤ ਚਿੰਤ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
भउजल डूबत चिंत करेइ ॥
Bẖa▫ojal dūbaṯ cẖinṯ kare▫i.
They are drowning in the terrifying world-ocean, crying out in pain.

ਕਹਹਿ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਜੋ ਮਾਨਹਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
कहहि सुणहि जो मानहि नाउ ॥
Kahėh suṇėh jo mānėh nā▫o.
Who chant, hear and believe in the Name,
|
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਜਾਉ ॥
हउ बलिहारै ता कै जाउ ॥
Ha▫o balihārai ṯā kai jā▫o.
I am a sacrifice to those.
|
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਏਕ ਕਹੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
नानकु एक कहै अरदासि ॥
Nānak ek kahai arḏās.
Nanak utters this one prayer;
|
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੩॥
जीउ पिंडु सभु तेरै पासि ॥३॥
Jī▫o pind sabẖ ṯerai pās. ||3||
soul and body, all belong to You, Lord. ||3||
|
ਜਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਜਪੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
जां तूं देहि जपी तेरा नाउ ॥
Jāʼn ṯūʼn ḏėh japī ṯerā nā▫o.
When You bless me, I chant Your Name.
|
ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣ ਹੋਵੈ ਥਾਉ ॥
दरगह बैसण होवै थाउ ॥
Ḏargėh baisaṇ hovai thā▫o.
Thus I find my seat in the Court of the Lord.
|
ਜਾਂ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
जां तुधु भावै ता दुरमति जाइ ॥
Jāʼn ṯuḏẖ bẖāvai ṯā ḏurmaṯ jā▫e.
When it pleases You, evil-mindedness departs,
|
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਆਇ ॥
गिआन रतनु मनि वसै आइ ॥
Gi▫ān raṯan man vasai ā▫e.
and the jewel of spiritual wisdom comes to dwell in the mind.
|
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥
नदरि करे ता सतिगुरु मिलै ॥
Naḏar kare ṯā saṯgur milai.
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, then one comes to meet the True Guru.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ॥੪॥੧੮॥
प्रणवति नानकु भवजलु तरै ॥४॥१८॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak bẖavjal ṯarai. ||4||18||
Prays Nanak, carry us across the terrifying world-ocean. ||4||18||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਪੰਚਪਦੇ ॥
आसा महला १ पंचपदे ॥
Āsā mėhlā 1 pancẖpaḏe.
Aasaa, First Mehl, Panch-Padas:

ਦੁਧ ਬਿਨੁ ਧੇਨੁ ਪੰਖ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਉਤਭੁਜ ਕਾਮਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
दुध बिनु धेनु पंख बिनु पंखी जल बिनु उतभुज कामि नाही ॥
Ḏuḏẖ bin ḏẖen pankẖ bin pankẖī jal bin uṯ▫bẖuj kām nāhī.
A cow without milk; a bird without wings; a garden without water - totally useless!

ਕਿਆ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੁ ਸਲਾਮ ਵਿਹੂਣਾ ਅੰਧੀ ਕੋਠੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
किआ सुलतानु सलाम विहूणा अंधी कोठी तेरा नामु नाही ॥१॥
Ki▫ā sulṯān salām vihūṇā anḏẖī koṯẖī ṯerā nām nāhī. ||1||
What is an emperor, without respect? The chamber of the soul is so dark, without the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਕੀ ਵਿਸਰਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
की विसरहि दुखु बहुता लागै ॥
Kī visrahi ḏukẖ bahuṯā lāgai.
How could I ever forget You? It would be so painful!
|
ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दुखु लागै तूं विसरु नाही ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏukẖ lāgai ṯūʼn visar nāhī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I would suffer such pain - no, I shall not forget You! ||1||Pause||
|
ਅਖੀ ਅੰਧੁ ਜੀਭ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੰਨੀ ਪਵਣੁ ਨ ਵਾਜੈ ॥
अखी अंधु जीभ रसु नाही कंनी पवणु न वाजै ॥
Akẖī anḏẖ jībẖ ras nāhī kannī pavaṇ na vājai.
The eyes grow blind, the tongue does not taste, and the ears do not hear any sound.

ਚਰਣੀ ਚਲੈ ਪਜੂਤਾ ਆਗੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੨॥
चरणी चलै पजूता आगै विणु सेवा फल लागे ॥२॥
Cẖarṇī cẖalai pajūṯā āgai viṇ sevā fal lāge. ||2||
He walks on his feet only when supported by someone else; without serving the Lord, such are the fruits of life. ||2||
|
ਅਖਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਬਾਗ ਭੁਇ ਚੋਖੀ ਸਿੰਚਿਤ ਭਾਉ ਕਰੇਹੀ ॥
अखर बिरख बाग भुइ चोखी सिंचित भाउ करेही ॥
Akẖar birakẖ bāg bẖu▫e cẖokẖī sincẖiṯ bẖā▫o karehī.
The Word is the tree; the garden of the heart is the farm; tend it, and irrigate it with the Lord's Love.

ਸਭਨਾ ਫਲੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਲੇਹੀ ॥੩॥
सभना फलु लागै नामु एको बिनु करमा कैसे लेही ॥३॥
Sabẖnā fal lāgai nām eko bin karmā kaise lehī. ||3||
All these trees bear the fruit of the Name of the One Lord; but without the karma of good actions, how can anyone obtain it? ||3||
|
ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਫਲੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
जेते जीअ तेते सभि तेरे विणु सेवा फलु किसै नाही ॥
Jeṯe jī▫a ṯeṯe sabẖ ṯere viṇ sevā fal kisai nāhī.
As many living beings are there are, they are all Yours. Without selfless service, no one obtains any reward.

ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਉ ਰਹੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੪॥
दुखु सुखु भाणा तेरा होवै विणु नावै जीउ रहै नाही ॥४॥
Ḏukẖ sukẖ bẖāṇā ṯerā hovai viṇ nāvai jī▫o rahai nāhī. ||4||
Pain and pleasure come by Your Will; without the Name, the soul does not even exist. ||4||

ਮਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਜਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
मति विचि मरणु जीवणु होरु कैसा जा जीवा तां जुगति नाही ॥
Maṯ vicẖ maraṇ jīvaṇ hor kaisā jā jīvā ṯāʼn jugaṯ nāhī.
To die in the Teachings is to live. Otherwise, what is life? That is not the way.

ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਆ ਜਹ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਹ ਰਾਖੁ ਤੁਹੀ ॥੫॥੧੯॥
कहै नानकु जीवाले जीआ जह भावै तह राखु तुही ॥५॥१९॥
Kahai Nānak jīvāle jī▫ā jah bẖāvai ṯah rākẖ ṯuhī. ||5||19||
Says Nanak, He grants life to the living beings; O Lord, please keep me according to Your Will. ||5||19||
