ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਦ ਭੈ ਰਚੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
सतगुरि मिलिऐ सद भै रचै आपि वसै मनि आइ ॥१॥
Saṯgur mili▫ai saḏ bẖai racẖai āp vasai man ā▫e. ||1||
Meeting the True Guru, one is permeated forever with the Fear of God, who Himself comes to dwell within the mind. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ
भाई रे गुरमुखि बूझै कोइ ॥
Bẖā▫ī re gurmukẖ būjẖai ko▫e.
O Siblings of Destiny, one who becomes Gurmukh and understands this is very rare.

ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
बिनु बूझे करम कमावणे जनमु पदारथु खोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bin būjẖe karam kamāvṇe janam paḏārath kẖo▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
To act without understanding is to lose the treasure of this human life. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਨੀ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਸਾਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਚਾਖੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ
जिनी चाखिआ तिनी सादु पाइआ बिनु चाखे भरमि भुलाइ ॥
Jinī cẖākẖi▫ā ṯinī sāḏ pā▫i▫ā bin cẖākẖe bẖaram bẖulā▫e.
Those who have tasted it, enjoy its flavor; without tasting it, they wander in doubt, lost and deceived.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਜਾਇ
अम्रितु साचा नामु है कहणा कछू न जाइ ॥
Amriṯ sācẖā nām hai kahṇā kacẖẖū na jā▫e.
The True Name is the Ambrosial Nectar; no one can describe it.

ਪੀਵਤ ਹੂ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
पीवत हू परवाणु भइआ पूरै सबदि समाइ ॥२॥
Pīvaṯ hū parvāṇ bẖa▫i▫ā pūrai sabaḏ samā▫e. ||2||
Drinking it in, one becomes honorable, absorbed in the Perfect Word of the Shabad. ||2||

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਾਈਐ ਹੋਰੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਜਾਇ
आपे देइ त पाईऐ होरु करणा किछू न जाइ ॥
Āpe ḏe▫e ṯa pā▫ī▫ai hor karṇā kicẖẖū na jā▫e.
He Himself gives, and then we receive. Nothing else can be done.

ਦੇਵਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੈ ਹਥਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਪਾਇ
देवण वाले कै हथि दाति है गुरू दुआरै पाइ ॥
Ḏevaṇ vāle kai hath ḏāṯ hai gurū ḏu▫ārai pā▫e.
The Gift is in the Hands of the Great Giver. At the Guru's Door, in the Gurdwara, it is received.

ਜੇਹਾ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਤੇਹਾ ਹੋਆ ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
जेहा कीतोनु तेहा होआ जेहे करम कमाइ ॥३॥
Jehā kīṯon ṯehā ho▫ā jehe karam kamā▫e. ||3||
Whatever He does, comes to pass. All act according to His Will. ||3||

ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ
जतु सतु संजमु नामु है विणु नावै निरमलु न होइ ॥
Jaṯ saṯ sanjam nām hai viṇ nāvai nirmal na ho▫e.
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is abstinence, truthfulness, and self-restraint. Without the Name, no one becomes pure.

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ
पूरै भागि नामु मनि वसै सबदि मिलावा होइ ॥
Pūrai bẖāg nām man vasai sabaḏ milāvā ho▫e.
Through perfect good fortune, the Naam comes to abide within the mind. Through the Shabad, we merge into Him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਰੰਗਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੭॥੫੦॥
नानक सहजे ही रंगि वरतदा हरि गुण पावै सोइ ॥४॥१७॥५०॥
Nānak sėhje hī rang varaṯḏā har guṇ pāvai so▫e. ||4||17||50||
O Nanak, one who lives in intuitive peace and poise, imbued with the Lord's Love, obtains the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||4||17||50||

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ
सिरीरागु महला ३ ॥
Sirīrāg mėhlā 3.
Siree Raag, Third Mehl:

ਕਾਂਇਆ ਸਾਧੈ ਉਰਧ ਤਪੁ ਕਰੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ
कांइआ साधै उरध तपु करै विचहु हउमै न जाइ ॥
Kāʼn▫i▫ā sāḏẖai uraḏẖ ṯap karai vicẖahu ha▫umai na jā▫e.
You may torment your body with extremes of self-discipline, practice intensive meditation and hang upside-down, but your ego will not be eliminated from within.

ਅਧਿਆਤਮ ਕਰਮ ਜੇ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਪਾਇ
अधिआतम करम जे करे नामु न कब ही पाइ ॥
Aḏẖi▫āṯam karam je kare nām na kab hī pā▫e.
You may perform religious rituals, and still never obtain the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥
गुर कै सबदि जीवतु मरै हरि नामु वसै मनि आइ ॥१॥
Gur kai sabaḏ jīvaṯ marai har nām vasai man ā▫e. ||1||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, remain dead while yet alive, and the Name of the Lord shall come to dwell within the mind. ||1||

ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਜੁ ਸਤਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾ
सुणि मन मेरे भजु सतगुर सरणा ॥
Suṇ man mere bẖaj saṯgur sarṇā.
Listen, O my mind: hurry to the Protection of the Guru's Sanctuary.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
गुर परसादी छुटीऐ बिखु भवजलु सबदि गुर तरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur parsādī cẖẖutī▫ai bikẖ bẖavjal sabaḏ gur ṯarṇā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By Guru's Grace you shall be saved. Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean of poison. ||1||Pause||

ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਸਭਾ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਵਿਕਾਰੁ
त्रै गुण सभा धातु है दूजा भाउ विकारु ॥
Ŧarai guṇ sabẖā ḏẖāṯ hai ḏūjā bẖā▫o vikār.
Everything under the influence of the three qualities shall perish; the love of duality is corrupting.

ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਪੜੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਮੋਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਨਹ ਬੂਝੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਪਿਆਰਿ
पंडितु पड़ै बंधन मोह बाधा नह बूझै बिखिआ पिआरि ॥
Pandiṯ paṛai banḏẖan moh bāḏẖā nah būjẖai bikẖi▫ā pi▫ār.
The Pandits, the religious scholars, read the scriptures, but they are trapped in the bondage of emotional attachment. In love with evil, they do not understand.

ਸਤਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਛੂਟੈ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਦਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
सतगुरि मिलिऐ त्रिकुटी छूटै चउथै पदि मुकति दुआरु ॥२॥
Saṯgur mili▫ai ṯarikutī cẖẖūtai cẖa▫uthai paḏ mukaṯ ḏu▫ār. ||2||
Meeting the Guru, the bondage of the three qualities is cut away, and in the fourth state, the Door of Liberation is attained. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ
गुर ते मारगु पाईऐ चूकै मोहु गुबारु ॥
Gur ṯe mārag pā▫ī▫ai cẖūkai moh gubār.
Through the Guru, the Path is found, and the darkness of emotional attachment is dispelled.

ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਉਧਰੈ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ
सबदि मरै ता उधरै पाए मोख दुआरु ॥
Sabaḏ marai ṯā uḏẖrai pā▫e mokẖ ḏu▫ār.
If one dies through the Shabad, then salvation is obtained, and one finds the Door of Liberation.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
गुर परसादी मिलि रहै सचु नामु करतारु ॥३॥
Gur parsādī mil rahai sacẖ nām karṯār. ||3||
By Guru's Grace, one remains blended with the True Name of the Creator. ||3||

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਅਤਿ ਸਬਲ ਹੈ ਛਡੇ ਕਿਤੈ ਉਪਾਇ
इहु मनूआ अति सबल है छडे न कितै उपाइ ॥
Ih manū▫ā aṯ sabal hai cẖẖade na kiṯai upā▫e.
This mind is very powerful; we cannot escape it just by trying.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਇਦਾ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਇ
दूजै भाइ दुखु लाइदा बहुती देइ सजाइ ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e ḏukẖ lā▫iḏā bahuṯī ḏe▫e sajā▫e.
In the love of duality, people suffer in pain, condemned to terrible punishment.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੫੧॥
नानक नामि लगे से उबरे हउमै सबदि गवाइ ॥४॥१८॥५१॥
Nānak nām lage se ubre ha▫umai sabaḏ gavā▫e. ||4||18||51||
O Nanak, those who are attached to the Naam are saved; through the Shabad, their ego is banished. ||4||18||51||

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ
सिरीरागु महला ३ ॥
Sirīrāg mėhlā 3.
Siree Raag, Third Mehl:

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਦੇਇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇ
किरपा करे गुरु पाईऐ हरि नामो देइ द्रिड़ाइ ॥
Kirpā kare gur pā▫ī▫ai har nāmo ḏe▫e driṛ▫ā▫e.
By His Grace, the Guru is found, and the Name of the Lord is implanted within.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਪਾਇਓ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ
बिनु गुर किनै न पाइओ बिरथा जनमु गवाइ ॥
Bin gur kinai na pā▫i▫o birthā janam gavā▫e.
Without the Guru, no one has obtained it; they waste away their lives in vain.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
मनमुख करम कमावणे दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥१॥
Manmukẖ karam kamāvṇe ḏargėh milai sajā▫e. ||1||
The self-willed manmukhs create karma, and in the Court of the Lord, they receive their punishment. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਚੁਕਾਇ
मन रे दूजा भाउ चुकाइ ॥
Man re ḏūjā bẖā▫o cẖukā▫e.
O mind, give up the love of duality.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ ਰਹਾਉ
अंतरि तेरै हरि वसै गुर सेवा सुखु पाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Anṯar ṯerai har vasai gur sevā sukẖ pā▫e. Rahā▫o.
The Lord dwells within you; serving the Guru, you shall find peace. ||Pause||

ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਸਚਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ
सचु बाणी सचु सबदु है जा सचि धरे पिआरु ॥
Sacẖ baṇī sacẖ sabaḏ hai jā sacẖ ḏẖare pi▫ār.
When you love the Truth, your words are true; they reflect the True Word of the Shabad.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ
हरि का नामु मनि वसै हउमै क्रोधु निवारि ॥
Har kā nām man vasai ha▫umai kroḏẖ nivār.
The Name of the Lord dwells within the mind; egotism and anger are wiped away.

ਮਨਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
मनि निरमल नामु धिआईऐ ता पाए मोख दुआरु ॥२॥
Man nirmal nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai ṯā pā▫e mokẖ ḏu▫ār. ||2||
Meditating on the Naam with a pure mind, the Door of Liberation is found. ||2||

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਗੁ ਬਿਨਸਦਾ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ
हउमै विचि जगु बिनसदा मरि जमै आवै जाइ ॥
Ha▫umai vicẖ jag binasḏā mar jammai āvai jā▫e.
Engrossed in egotism, the world perishes. It dies and is re-born; it continues coming and going in reincarnation.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ
मनमुख सबदु न जाणनी जासनि पति गवाइ ॥
Manmukẖ sabaḏ na jāṇnī jāsan paṯ gavā▫e.
The self-willed manmukhs do not recognize the Shabad; they forfeit their honor, and depart in disgrace.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾਉ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
गुर सेवा नाउ पाईऐ सचे रहै समाइ ॥३॥
Gur sevā nā▫o pā▫ī▫ai sacẖe rahai samā▫e. ||3||
Serving the Guru, the Name is obtained, and one remains absorbed in the True Lord. ||3||
