ਕਵਨੁ ਸੁ ਮੁਨਿ ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੈ ॥
कवनु सु मुनि जो मनु मारै ॥
Kavan so mun jo man mārai.
Who is that silent sage, who has killed his mind?

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मन कउ मारि कहहु किसु तारै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Man ka▫o mār kahhu kis ṯārai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By killing the mind, tell me, who is saved? ||1||Pause||
|
ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
मन अंतरि बोलै सभु कोई ॥
Man anṯar bolai sabẖ ko▫ī.
Everyone speaks through the mind.
|
ਮਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥
मन मारे बिनु भगति न होई ॥२॥
Man māre bin bẖagaṯ na ho▫ī. ||2||
Without killing the mind, devotional worship is not performed. ||2||
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੋ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
कहु कबीर जो जानै भेउ ॥
Kaho Kabīr jo jānai bẖe▫o.
Says Kabeer, one who knows the secret of this mystery,
|
ਮਨੁ ਮਧੁਸੂਦਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਦੇਉ ॥੩॥੨੮॥
मनु मधुसूदनु त्रिभवण देउ ॥३॥२८॥
Man maḏẖusūḏan ṯaribẖavaṇ ḏe▫o. ||3||28||
beholds within his own mind the Lord of the three worlds. ||3||28||

ਓਇ ਜੁ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਅੰਬਰਿ ਤਾਰੇ ॥
ओइ जु दीसहि अम्बरि तारे ॥
O▫e jo ḏīsėh ambar ṯāre.
The stars which are seen in the sky -
|
ਕਿਨਿ ਓਇ ਚੀਤੇ ਚੀਤਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
किनि ओइ चीते चीतनहारे ॥१॥
Kin o▫e cẖīṯe cẖīṯanhāre. ||1||
who is the painter who painted them? ||1||
|
ਕਹੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਅੰਬਰੁ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
कहु रे पंडित अम्बरु का सिउ लागा ॥
Kaho re pandiṯ ambar kā si▫o lāgā.
Tell me, O Pandit, what is the sky attached to?

ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਨਹਾਰੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बूझै बूझनहारु सभागा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Būjẖai būjẖanhār sabẖāgā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Very fortunate is the knower who knows this. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੂਰਜ ਚੰਦੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਜੀਆਰਾ ॥
सूरज चंदु करहि उजीआरा ॥
Sūraj cẖanḏ karahi ujī▫ārā.
The sun and the moon give their light;
|
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
सभ महि पसरिआ ब्रहम पसारा ॥२॥
Sabẖ mėh pasri▫ā barahm pasārā. ||2||
God's creative extension extends everywhere. ||2||
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਾਨੈਗਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
कहु कबीर जानैगा सोइ ॥
Kaho Kabīr jānaigā so▫e.
Says Kabeer, he alone knows this,
|
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮੈ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥੨੯॥
हिरदै रामु मुखि रामै होइ ॥३॥२९॥
Hirḏai rām mukẖ rāmai ho▫e. ||3||29||
whose heart is filled with the Lord, and whose mouth is also filled with the Lord. ||3||29||

ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
बेद की पुत्री सिम्रिति भाई ॥
Beḏ kī puṯrī simriṯ bẖā▫ī.
The Simritee is the daughter of the Vedas, O Siblings of Destiny.
|
ਸਾਂਕਲ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਲੈ ਹੈ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
सांकल जेवरी लै है आई ॥१॥
Sāʼnkal jevrī lai hai ā▫ī. ||1||
She has brought a chain and a rope. ||1||
|
ਆਪਨ ਨਗਰੁ ਆਪ ਤੇ ਬਾਧਿਆ ॥
आपन नगरु आप ते बाधिआ ॥
Āpan nagar āp ṯe bāḏẖi▫ā.
She has imprisoned the people in her own city.
|
ਮੋਹ ਕੈ ਫਾਧਿ ਕਾਲ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਂਧਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मोह कै फाधि काल सरु सांधिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Moh kai fāḏẖ kāl sar sāʼnḏẖi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
She has tightened the noose of emotional attachment and shot the arrow of death. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਟੀ ਨ ਕਟੈ ਤੂਟਿ ਨਹ ਜਾਈ ॥
कटी न कटै तूटि नह जाई ॥
Katī na katai ṯūt nah jā▫ī.
By cutting, she cannot be cut, and she cannot be broken.
|
ਸਾ ਸਾਪਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਖਾਈ ॥੨॥
सा सापनि होइ जग कउ खाई ॥२॥
Sā sāpan ho▫e jag ka▫o kẖā▫ī. ||2||
She has become a serpent, and she is eating the world. ||2||
|
ਹਮ ਦੇਖਤ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਲੂਟਿਆ ॥
हम देखत जिनि सभु जगु लूटिआ ॥
Ham ḏekẖaṯ jin sabẖ jag lūti▫ā.
Before my very eyes, she has plundered the entire world.
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਮੈ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿ ਛੂਟਿਆ ॥੩॥੩੦॥
कहु कबीर मै राम कहि छूटिआ ॥३॥३०॥
Kaho Kabīr mai rām kahi cẖẖūti▫ā. ||3||30||
Says Kabeer, chanting the Lord's Name, I have escaped her. ||3||30||

ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
गउड़ी कबीर जी ॥
Ga▫oṛī Kabīr jī.
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

ਦੇਇ ਮੁਹਾਰ ਲਗਾਮੁ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਉ ॥
देइ मुहार लगामु पहिरावउ ॥
Ḏe▫e muhār lagām pahirāva▫o.
I have grasped the reins and attached the bridle;
|
ਸਗਲ ਤ ਜੀਨੁ ਗਗਨ ਦਉਰਾਵਉ ॥੧॥
सगल त जीनु गगन दउरावउ ॥१॥
Sagal ṯa jīn gagan ḏa▫orāva▫o. ||1||
abandoning everything, I now ride through the skies. ||1||
|
ਅਪਨੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
अपनै बीचारि असवारी कीजै ॥
Apnai bīcẖār asvārī kījai.
I made self-reflection my mount,
|
ਸਹਜ ਕੈ ਪਾਵੜੈ ਪਗੁ ਧਰਿ ਲੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सहज कै पावड़ै पगु धरि लीजै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sahj kai pāvṛai pag ḏẖar lījai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
and in the stirrups of intuitive poise, I placed my feet. ||1||Pause||
|
ਚਲੁ ਰੇ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਲੇ ਤਾਰਉ ॥
चलु रे बैकुंठ तुझहि ले तारउ ॥
Cẖal re baikunṯẖ ṯujẖėh le ṯāra▫o.
Come, and let me ride you to heaven.

ਹਿਚਹਿ ਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਬੁਕ ਮਾਰਉ ॥੨॥
हिचहि त प्रेम कै चाबुक मारउ ॥२॥
Hicẖėh ṯa parem kai cẖābuk māra▫o. ||2||
If you hold back, then I shall strike you with the whip of spiritual love. ||2||
|
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਲੇ ਅਸਵਾਰਾ ॥
कहत कबीर भले असवारा ॥
Kahaṯ Kabīr bẖale asvārā.
Says Kabeer, those are the best riders,
|
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਤੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੩੧॥
बेद कतेब ते रहहि निरारा ॥३॥३१॥
Beḏ kaṯeb ṯe rahėh nirārā. ||3||31||
who remain detached from the Vedas, the Koran and the Bible. ||3||31||

ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥

Ga▫oṛī Kabīr jī.
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

ਜਿਹ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਂਚਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਖਾਏ ॥
जिह मुखि पांचउ अम्रित खाए ॥
Jih mukẖ pāʼncẖa▫o amriṯ kẖā▫e.
That mouth, which used to eat the five delicacies -
|
ਤਿਹ ਮੁਖ ਦੇਖਤ ਲੂਕਟ ਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
तिह मुख देखत लूकट लाए ॥१॥
Ŧih mukẖ ḏekẖaṯ lūkat lā▫e. ||1||
I have seen the flames being applied to that mouth. ||1||
|
ਇਕੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
इकु दुखु राम राइ काटहु मेरा ॥
Ik ḏukẖ rām rā▫e kātahu merā.
O Lord, my King, please rid me of this one affliction:
|
ਅਗਨਿ ਦਹੈ ਅਰੁ ਗਰਭ ਬਸੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अगनि दहै अरु गरभ बसेरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Agan ḏahai ar garabẖ baserā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
may I not be burned in fire, or cast into the womb again. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਬਿਗੂਤੀ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਤੀ ॥
काइआ बिगूती बहु बिधि भाती ॥
Kā▫i▫ā bigūṯī baho biḏẖ bẖāṯī.
The body is destroyed by so many ways and means.
|
ਕੋ ਜਾਰੇ ਕੋ ਗਡਿ ਲੇ ਮਾਟੀ ॥੨॥
को जारे को गडि ले माटी ॥२॥
Ko jāre ko gad le mātī. ||2||
Some burn it, and some bury it in the earth. ||2||
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਦਿਖਾਵਹੁ ॥
कहु कबीर हरि चरण दिखावहु ॥
Kaho Kabīr har cẖaraṇ ḏikẖāvhu.
Says Kabeer, O Lord, please reveal to me Your Lotus Feet;

ਪਾਛੈ ਤੇ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਪਠਾਵਹੁ ॥੩॥੩੨॥
पाछै ते जमु किउ न पठावहु ॥३॥३२॥
Pācẖẖai ṯe jam ki▫o na paṯẖāvhu. ||3||32||
after that, go ahead and send me to my death. ||3||32||

ਗਉੜੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ॥
गउड़ी कबीर जी ॥
Ga▫oṛī Kabīr jī.
Gauree, Kabeer Jee:

ਆਪੇ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਵਨਾ ॥
आपे पावकु आपे पवना ॥
Āpe pāvak āpe pavnā.
He Himself is the fire, and He Himself is the wind.
|
ਜਾਰੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਤ ਰਾਖੈ ਕਵਨਾ ॥੧॥
जारै खसमु त राखै कवना ॥१॥
Jārai kẖasam ṯa rākẖai kavnā. ||1||
When our Lord and Master wishes to burn someone, then who can save him? ||1||
|
ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਤਨੁ ਜਰਿ ਕੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
राम जपत तनु जरि की न जाइ ॥
Rām japaṯ ṯan jar kī na jā▫e.
When I chant the Lord's Name, what does it matter if my body burns?
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਚਿਤੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
राम नाम चितु रहिआ समाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Rām nām cẖiṯ rahi▫ā samā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
My consciousness remains absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਾ ਕੋ ਜਰੈ ਕਾਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਹਾਨਿ ॥
का को जरै काहि होइ हानि ॥
Kā ko jarai kāhi ho▫e hān.
Who is burned, and who suffers loss?
|
ਨਟ ਵਟ ਖੇਲੈ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨਿ ॥੨॥
नट वट खेलै सारिगपानि ॥२॥
Nat vat kẖelai sārigpān. ||2||
The Lord plays, like the juggler with his ball. ||2||
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਖਰ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਖਿ ॥
कहु कबीर अखर दुइ भाखि ॥
Kaho Kabīr akẖar ḏu▫e bẖākẖ.
Says Kabeer, chant the two letters of the Lord's Name - Raa Maa.

ਹੋਇਗਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਤ ਲੇਇਗਾ ਰਾਖਿ ॥੩॥੩੩॥
होइगा खसमु त लेइगा राखि ॥३॥३३॥
Ho▫igā kẖasam ṯa le▫igā rākẖ. ||3||33||
If He is your Lord and Master, He will protect you. ||3||33||

गउड़ी कबीर जी दुपदे ॥
Ga▫oṛī Kabīr jī ḏupḏe.
Gauree, Kabeer Jee, Du-Padas:

ਨਾ ਮੈ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
ना मै जोग धिआन चितु लाइआ ॥
Nā mai jog ḏẖi▫ān cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā.
I have not practiced Yoga, or focused my consciousness on meditation.

ਬਿਨੁ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਨ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
बिनु बैराग न छूटसि माइआ ॥१॥
Bin bairāg na cẖẖūtas mā▫i▫ā. ||1||
Without renunciation, I cannot escape Maya. ||1||
|
ਕੈਸੇ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
कैसे जीवनु होइ हमारा ॥
Kaise jīvan ho▫e hamārā.
How have I passed my life?
|
ਜਬ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
जब न होइ राम नाम अधारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jab na ho▫e rām nām aḏẖārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I have not taken the Lord's Name as my Support. ||1||Pause||
