ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਊਤਮ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ
गिआनु स्रेसट ऊतम इसनानु ॥
Gi▫ān saresat ūṯam isnān.
The most sublime wisdom and purifying baths;

ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ
चारि पदारथ कमल प्रगास ॥
Cẖār paḏārath kamal pargās.
the four cardinal blessings, the opening of the heart-lotus;

ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧਿ ਸਗਲ ਤੇ ਉਦਾਸ
सभ कै मधि सगल ते उदास ॥
Sabẖ kai maḏẖ sagal ṯe uḏās.
in the midst of all, and yet detached from all;

ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਤਤ ਕਾ ਬੇਤਾ
सुंदरु चतुरु तत का बेता ॥
Sunḏar cẖaṯur ṯaṯ kā beṯā.
beauty, intelligence, and the realization of reality;

ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਏਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੇਤਾ
समदरसी एक द्रिसटेता ॥
Samaḏrasī ek ḏaristeṯā.
to look impartially upon all, and to see only the One

ਇਹ ਫਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਨੇ
इह फल तिसु जन कै मुखि भने ॥
Ih fal ṯis jan kai mukẖ bẖane.
These blessings come to one who chants the Naam with his mouth,

ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਚਨ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਨੇ ॥੬॥
गुर नानक नाम बचन मनि सुने ॥६॥
Gur Nānak nām bacẖan man sune. ||6||
and hears the Word with his ears through Guru Nanak. ||6||

ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਜਪੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ
इहु निधानु जपै मनि कोइ ॥
Ih niḏẖān japai man ko▫e.
One who chants this treasure in his mind -

ਸਭ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ
सभ जुग महि ता की गति होइ ॥
Sabẖ jug mėh ṯā kī gaṯ ho▫e.
in every age, he attains salvation.

ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਧੁਨਿ ਬਾਣੀ
गुण गोबिंद नाम धुनि बाणी ॥
Guṇ gobinḏ nām ḏẖun baṇī.
In it is the Glory of God, the Naam, the chanting of Gurbani.

ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਬਖਾਣੀ
सिम्रिति सासत्र बेद बखाणी ॥
Simriṯ sāsṯar beḏ bakẖāṇī.
The Simritees, the Shaastras and the Vedas speak of it.

ਸਗਲ ਮਤਾਂਤ ਕੇਵਲ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ
सगल मतांत केवल हरि नाम ॥
Sagal maṯāʼnṯ keval har nām.
The essence of all religion is the Lord's Name alone.

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮ
गोबिंद भगत कै मनि बिस्राम ॥
Gobinḏ bẖagaṯ kai man bisrām.
It abides in the minds of the devotees of God.

ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪ੍ਰਾਧ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੈ
कोटि अप्राध साधसंगि मिटै ॥
Kot aprāḏẖ sāḏẖsang mitai.
Millions of sins are erased, in the Company of the Holy.

ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟੈ
संत क्रिपा ते जम ते छुटै ॥
Sanṯ kirpā ṯe jam ṯe cẖẖutai.
By the Grace of the Saint, one escapes the Messenger of Death.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪਾਏ
जा कै मसतकि करम प्रभि पाए ॥
Jā kai masṯak karam parabẖ pā▫e.
Those, who have such pre-ordained destiny on their foreheads,

ਸਾਧ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਆਏ ॥੭॥
साध सरणि नानक ते आए ॥७॥
Sāḏẖ saraṇ Nānak ṯe ā▫e. ||7||
O Nanak, enter the Sanctuary of the Saints. ||7||

ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸੁਨੈ ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ
जिसु मनि बसै सुनै लाइ प्रीति ॥
Jis man basai sunai lā▫e parīṯ.
One, within whose mind it abides, and who listens to it with love -

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਆਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੀਤਿ
तिसु जन आवै हरि प्रभु चीति ॥
Ŧis jan āvai har parabẖ cẖīṯ.
that humble person consciously remembers the Lord God.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ
जनम मरन ता का दूखु निवारै ॥
Janam maran ṯā kā ḏūkẖ nivārai.
The pains of birth and death are removed.

ਦੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ
दुलभ देह ततकाल उधारै ॥
Ḏulabẖ ḏeh ṯaṯkāl uḏẖārai.
The human body, so difficult to obtain, is instantly redeemed.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ
निरमल सोभा अम्रित ता की बानी ॥
Nirmal sobẖā amriṯ ṯā kī bānī.
Spotlessly pure is his reputation, and ambrosial is his speech.

ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ
एकु नामु मन माहि समानी ॥
Ėk nām man māhi samānī.
The One Name permeates his mind.

ਦੂਖ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ
दूख रोग बिनसे भै भरम ॥
Ḏūkẖ rog binse bẖai bẖaram.
Sorrow, sickness, fear and doubt depart.

ਸਾਧ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ
साध नाम निरमल ता के करम ॥
Sāḏẖ nām nirmal ṯā ke karam.
He is called a Holy person; his actions are immaculate and pure.

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬਨੀ
सभ ते ऊच ता की सोभा बनी ॥
Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ ṯā kī sobẖā banī.
His glory becomes the highest of all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਗੁਣਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਖਮਨੀ ॥੮॥੨੪॥
नानक इह गुणि नामु सुखमनी ॥८॥२४॥
Nānak ih guṇ nām sukẖmanī. ||8||24||
O Nanak, by these Glorious Virtues, this is named Sukhmani, Peace of mind. ||8||24||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ
जलि थलि महीअलि पूरिआ सुआमी सिरजनहारु ॥
Jal thal mahī▫al pūri▫ā su▫āmī sirjanhār.
The Creator Lord and Master is pervading the water, the land, and the sky.

ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
अनिक भांति होइ पसरिआ नानक एकंकारु ॥१॥
Anik bẖāʼnṯ ho▫e pasri▫ā Nānak ekankār. ||1||
In so many ways, the One, the Universal Creator has diffused Himself, O Nanak. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਏਕਮ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਉ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਧਿਆਇ
एकम एकंकारु प्रभु करउ बंदना धिआइ ॥
Ėkam ekankār parabẖ kara▫o banḏnā ḏẖi▫ā▫e.
The first day of the lunar cycle: Bow in humility and meditate on the One, the Universal Creator Lord God.

ਗੁਣ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ
गुण गोबिंद गुपाल प्रभ सरनि परउ हरि राइ ॥
Guṇ gobinḏ gupāl parabẖ saran para▫o har rā▫e.
Praise God, the Lord of the Universe, the Sustainer of the World; seek the Sanctuary of the Lord, our King.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੁਖ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਹੋਇ
ता की आस कलिआण सुख जा ते सभु कछु होइ ॥
Ŧā kī ās kali▫āṇ sukẖ jā ṯe sabẖ kacẖẖ ho▫e.
Place your hopes in Him, for salvation and peace; all things come from Him.

ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਕੋਇ
चारि कुंट दह दिसि भ्रमिओ तिसु बिनु अवरु न कोइ ॥
Cẖār kunt ḏah ḏis bẖarmi▫o ṯis bin avar na ko▫e.
I wandered around the four corners of the world and in the ten directions, but I saw nothing except Him.

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸੁਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਰਉ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ
बेद पुरान सिम्रिति सुने बहु बिधि करउ बीचारु ॥
Beḏ purān simriṯ sune baho biḏẖ kara▫o bīcẖār.
I listened to the Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, and I pondered over them in so many ways.

ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਭੈ ਹਰਨ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ
पतित उधारन भै हरन सुख सागर निरंकार ॥
Paṯiṯ uḏẖāran bẖai haran sukẖ sāgar nirankār.
The Saving Grace of sinners, the Destroyer of fear, the Ocean of peace, the Formless Lord.

ਦਾਤਾ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਦੇਨਹਾਰੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਜਾਇ
दाता भुगता देनहारु तिसु बिनु अवरु न जाइ ॥
Ḏāṯā bẖugṯā ḏenhār ṯis bin avar na jā▫e.
The Great Giver, the Enjoyer, the Bestower - there is no place at all without Him.

ਜੋ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧॥
जो चाहहि सोई मिलै नानक हरि गुन गाइ ॥१॥
Jo cẖāhėh so▫ī milai Nānak har gun gā▫e. ||1||
You shall obtain all that you desire, O Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਤ
गोबिंद जसु गाईऐ हरि नीत ॥
Gobinḏ jas gā▫ī▫ai har nīṯ.
Sing the Praises of the Lord, the Lord of the Universe, each and every day.

ਮਿਲਿ ਭਜੀਐ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
मिलि भजीऐ साधसंगि मेरे मीत ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Mil bẖajī▫ai sāḏẖsang mere mīṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and vibrate, meditate on Him, O my friend. ||1||Pause||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਕਰਉ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਅਨਿਕ ਵਾਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ
करउ बंदना अनिक वार सरनि परउ हरि राइ ॥
Kara▫o banḏnā anik vār saran para▫o har rā▫e.
Bow in humility to the Lord, over and over again, and enter the Sanctuary of the Lord, our King.

ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਤੀਆ ਭਾਉ ਮਿਟਾਇ ॥੨॥
भ्रमु कटीऐ नानक साधसंगि दुतीआ भाउ मिटाइ ॥२॥
Bẖaram katī▫ai Nānak sāḏẖsang ḏuṯī▫ā bẖā▫o mitā▫e. ||2||
Doubt is eradicated, O Nanak, in the Company of the Holy, and the love of duality is eliminated. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਦੁਤੀਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਨੀਤ
दुतीआ दुरमति दूरि करि गुर सेवा करि नीत ॥
Ḏuṯī▫ā ḏurmaṯ ḏūr kar gur sevā kar nīṯ.
The second day of the lunar cycle: Get rid of your evil-mindedness, and serve the Guru continually.

ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੀਤ
राम रतनु मनि तनि बसै तजि कामु क्रोधु लोभु मीत ॥
Rām raṯan man ṯan basai ṯaj kām kroḏẖ lobẖ mīṯ.
The jewel of the Lord's Name shall come to dwell in your mind and body, when you renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, O my friend.

ਮਰਣੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਬਿਨਸਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਕਲੇਸ
मरणु मिटै जीवनु मिलै बिनसहि सगल कलेस ॥
Maraṇ mitai jīvan milai binsahi sagal kales.
Conquer death and obtain eternal life; all your troubles will depart.

ਆਪੁ ਤਜਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਜਹੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ
आपु तजहु गोबिंद भजहु भाउ भगति परवेस ॥
Āp ṯajahu gobinḏ bẖajahu bẖā▫o bẖagaṯ parves.
Renounce your self-conceit and vibrate upon the Lord of the Universe; loving devotion to Him shall permeate your being.
