ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
जिस नो क्रिपा करै तिसु आपन नामु देइ ॥
Jis no kirpā karai ṯis āpan nām ḏe▫e.
He Himself gives His Name to those, upon whom He bestows His Mercy.

ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਸੇਇ ॥੮॥੧੩॥
बडभागी नानक जन सेइ ॥८॥१३॥
Badbẖāgī Nānak jan se▫e. ||8||13||

ਤਜਹੁ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸੁਰਿ ਜਨਹੁ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
तजहु सिआनप सुरि जनहु सिमरहु हरि हरि राइ ॥
Ŧajahu si▫ānap sur janhu simrahu har har rā▫e.
Give up your cleverness, good people - remember the Lord God, your King!

ਏਕ ਆਸ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੂਖੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
एक आस हरि मनि रखहु नानक दूखु भरमु भउ जाइ ॥१॥
Ėk ās har man rakẖahu Nānak ḏūkẖ bẖaram bẖa▫o jā▫e. ||1||
Enshrine in your heart, your hopes in the One Lord. O Nanak, your pain, doubt and fear shall depart. ||1||

ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਥੀ ਸਭ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
मानुख की टेक ब्रिथी सभ जानु ॥
Mānukẖ kī tek barithī sabẖ jān.
Reliance on mortals is in vain - know this well.
|
ਦੇਵਨ ਕਉ ਏਕੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥
देवन कउ एकै भगवानु ॥
Ḏevan ka▫o ekai bẖagvān.
The Great Giver is the One Lord God.
|
ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਦੀਐ ਰਹੈ ਅਘਾਇ ॥
जिस कै दीऐ रहै अघाइ ॥
Jis kai ḏī▫ai rahai agẖā▫e.
By His gifts, we are satisfied,
|
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥
बहुरि न त्रिसना लागै आइ ॥
Bahur na ṯarisnā lāgai ā▫e.
and we suffer from thirst no longer.
|
ਮਾਰੈ ਰਾਖੈ ਏਕੋ ਆਪਿ ॥
मारै राखै एको आपि ॥
Mārai rākẖai eko āp.
The One Lord Himself destroys and also preserves.
|
ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਾਥਿ ॥
मानुख कै किछु नाही हाथि ॥
Mānukẖ kai kicẖẖ nāhī hāth.
Nothing at all is in the hands of mortal beings.
|
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
तिस का हुकमु बूझि सुखु होइ ॥
Ŧis kā hukam būjẖ sukẖ ho▫e.
Understanding His Order, there is peace.
|
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੁ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਰੋਇ ॥
तिस का नामु रखु कंठि परोइ ॥
Ŧis kā nām rakẖ kanṯẖ paro▫e.
So take His Name, and wear it as your necklace.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
सिमरि सिमरि सिमरि प्रभु सोइ ॥
Simar simar simar parabẖ so▫e.
Remember, remember, remember God in meditation.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
नानक बिघनु न लागै कोइ ॥१॥
Nānak bigẖan na lāgai ko▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, no obstacle shall stand in your way. ||1||
|
ਉਸਤਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥
उसतति मन महि करि निरंकार ॥
Usṯaṯ man mėh kar nirankār.
Praise the Formless Lord in your mind.
|
ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥
करि मन मेरे सति बिउहार ॥
Kar man mere saṯ bi▫uhār.
O my mind, make this your true occupation.
|
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਉ ॥
निरमल रसना अम्रितु पीउ ॥
Nirmal rasnā amriṯ pī▫o.
Let your tongue become pure, drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਜੀਉ ॥
सदा सुहेला करि लेहि जीउ ॥
Saḏā suhelā kar lehi jī▫o.
Your soul shall be forever peaceful.
|
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਪੇਖੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
नैनहु पेखु ठाकुर का रंगु ॥
Nainhu pekẖ ṯẖākur kā rang.
With your eyes, see the wondrous play of your Lord and Master.
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
साधसंगि बिनसै सभ संगु ॥
Sāḏẖsang binsai sabẖ sang.
In the Company of the Holy, all other associations vanish.
|
ਚਰਨ ਚਲਉ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥
चरन चलउ मारगि गोबिंद ॥
Cẖaran cẖala▫o mārag gobinḏ.
With your feet, walk in the Way of the Lord.
|
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਜਪੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਬਿੰਦ ॥
मिटहि पाप जपीऐ हरि बिंद ॥
Mitėh pāp japī▫ai har binḏ.
Sins are washed away, chanting the Lord's Name, even for a moment.
|
ਕਰ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਮ ਸ੍ਰਵਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ॥
कर हरि करम स्रवनि हरि कथा ॥
Kar har karam sarvan har kathā.
So do the Lord's Work, and listen to the Lord's Sermon.

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਨਾਨਕ ਊਜਲ ਮਥਾ ॥੨॥
हरि दरगह नानक ऊजल मथा ॥२॥
Har ḏargėh Nānak ūjal mathā. ||2||
In the Lord's Court, O Nanak, your face shall be radiant. ||2||
|
ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਜਗ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
बडभागी ते जन जग माहि ॥
Badbẖāgī ṯe jan jag māhi.
Very fortunate are those humble beings in this world,
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਹਿ ॥
सदा सदा हरि के गुन गाहि ॥
Saḏā saḏā har ke gun gāhi.
who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, forever and ever.
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਜੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
राम नाम जो करहि बीचार ॥
Rām nām jo karahi bīcẖār.
Those who dwell upon the Lord's Name,
|
ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਗਨੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
से धनवंत गनी संसार ॥
Se ḏẖanvanṯ ganī sansār.
are the most wealthy and prosperous in the world.
|
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖੀ ॥
मनि तनि मुखि बोलहि हरि मुखी ॥
Man ṯan mukẖ bolėh har mukẖī.
Those who speak of the Supreme Lord in thought, word and deed -
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੀ ॥
सदा सदा जानहु ते सुखी ॥
Saḏā saḏā jānhu ṯe sukẖī.
know that they are peaceful and happy, forever and ever.
|
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
एको एकु एकु पछानै ॥
Ėko ek ek pacẖẖānai.
One who recognizes the One and only Lord as One,
|
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕੀ ਓਹੁ ਸੋਝੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
इत उत की ओहु सोझी जानै ॥
Iṯ uṯ kī oh sojẖī jānai.
understands this world and the next.
|
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
नाम संगि जिस का मनु मानिआ ॥
Nām sang jis kā man māni▫ā.
One whose mind accepts the Company of the Naam,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥
नानक तिनहि निरंजनु जानिआ ॥३॥
Nānak ṯinėh niranjan jāni▫ā. ||3||
the Name of the Lord, O Nanak, knows the Immaculate Lord. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ ਸੁਝੈ ॥
गुर प्रसादि आपन आपु सुझै ॥
Gur parsāḏ āpan āp sujẖai.
By Guru's Grace, one understands himself;
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ॥
तिस की जानहु त्रिसना बुझै ॥
Ŧis kī jānhu ṯarisnā bujẖai.
know that then, his thirst is quenched.
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਹਤ ॥
साधसंगि हरि हरि जसु कहत ॥
Sāḏẖsang har har jas kahaṯ.
In the Company of the Holy, one chants the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.
|
ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਤੇ ਓਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਰਹਤ ॥
सरब रोग ते ओहु हरि जनु रहत ॥
Sarab rog ṯe oh har jan rahaṯ.
Such a devotee of the Lord is free of all disease.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਬਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਨੁ ॥
अनदिनु कीरतनु केवल बख्यानु ॥
An▫ḏin kīrṯan keval bakẖ▫yān.
Night and day, sing the Kirtan, the Praises of the One Lord.
|
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਤ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੁ ॥
ग्रिहसत महि सोई निरबानु ॥
Garihsaṯ mėh so▫ī nirbān.
In the midst of your household, remain balanced and unattached.
|
ਏਕ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਆਸਾ ॥
एक ऊपरि जिसु जन की आसा ॥
Ėk ūpar jis jan kī āsā.
One who places his hopes in the One Lord -
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਕਟੀਐ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
तिस की कटीऐ जम की फासा ॥
Ŧis kī katī▫ai jam kī fāsā.
the noose of Death is cut away from his neck.
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਭੂਖ ॥
पारब्रहम की जिसु मनि भूख ॥
Pārbarahm kī jis man bẖūkẖ.
One whose mind hungers for the Supreme Lord God,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਲਾਗਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥੪॥
नानक तिसहि न लागहि दूख ॥४॥
Nānak ṯisėh na lāgėh ḏūkẖ. ||4||
O Nanak, shall not suffer pain. ||4||
|
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ॥
जिस कउ हरि प्रभु मनि चिति आवै ॥
Jis ka▫o har parabẖ man cẖiṯ āvai.
One who focuses his conscious mind on the Lord God -
|
ਸੋ ਸੰਤੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਡੁਲਾਵੈ ॥
सो संतु सुहेला नही डुलावै ॥
So sanṯ suhelā nahī dulāvai.
that Saint is at peace; he does not waver.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
जिसु प्रभु अपुना किरपा करै ॥
Jis parabẖ apunā kirpā karai.
Those unto whom God has granted His Grace -
|
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਸ ਤੇ ਡਰੈ ॥
सो सेवकु कहु किस ते डरै ॥
So sevak kaho kis ṯe darai.
who do those servants need to fear?
|
ਜੈਸਾ ਸਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
जैसा सा तैसा द्रिसटाइआ ॥
Jaisā sā ṯaisā ḏaristā▫i▫ā.
As God is, so does He appear;
|
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
अपुने कारज महि आपि समाइआ ॥
Apune kāraj mėh āp samā▫i▫ā.
in His Own creation, He Himself is pervading.
|
ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੀਝਿਆ ॥
सोधत सोधत सोधत सीझिआ ॥
Soḏẖaṯ soḏẖaṯ soḏẖaṯ sījẖi▫ā.
Searching, searching, searching, and finally, success!
|
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਬੂਝਿਆ ॥
गुर प्रसादि ततु सभु बूझिआ ॥
Gur parsāḏ ṯaṯ sabẖ būjẖi▫ā.
By Guru's Grace, the essence of all reality is understood.
|
ਜਬ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਬ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
जब देखउ तब सभु किछु मूलु ॥
Jab ḏekẖ▫a▫u ṯab sabẖ kicẖẖ mūl.
Wherever I look, there I see Him, at the root of all things.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਅਸਥੂਲੁ ॥੫॥
नानक सो सूखमु सोई असथूलु ॥५॥
Nānak so sūkẖam so▫ī asthūl. ||5||
O Nanak, He is the subtle, and He is also the manifest. ||5||
|
ਨਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਨਮੈ ਨਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਰੈ ॥
नह किछु जनमै नह किछु मरै ॥
Nah kicẖẖ janmai nah kicẖẖ marai.
Nothing is born, and nothing dies.
|
ਆਪਨ ਚਲਿਤੁ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
आपन चलितु आप ही करै ॥
Āpan cẖaliṯ āp hī karai.
He Himself stages His own drama.
|
ਆਵਨੁ ਜਾਵਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਅਨਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
आवनु जावनु द्रिसटि अनद्रिसटि ॥
Āvan jāvan ḏarisat an▫ḏarisat.
Coming and going, seen and unseen,
|
ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ਧਾਰੀ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ॥
आगिआकारी धारी सभ स्रिसटि ॥
Āgi▫ākārī ḏẖārī sabẖ sarisat.
all the world is obedient to His Will.
