ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੰਤ
मति पूरी परधान ते गुर पूरे मन मंत ॥
Maṯ pūrī parḏẖān ṯe gur pūre man manṯ.
Perfect is the intellect, and most distinguished is the reputation, of those whose minds are filled with the Mantra of the Perfect Guru.

ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪੁਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੧॥
जिह जानिओ प्रभु आपुना नानक ते भगवंत ॥१॥
Jih jāni▫o parabẖ āpunā Nānak ṯe bẖagvanṯ. ||1||
Those who come to know their God, O Nanak, are very fortunate. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਮਮਾ ਜਾਹੂ ਮਰਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ
ममा जाहू मरमु पछाना ॥
Mamā jāhū maram pacẖẖānā.
MAMMA: Those who understand God's mystery,

ਭੇਟਤ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਤੀਆਨਾ
भेटत साधसंग पतीआना ॥
Bẖetaṯ sāḏẖsang paṯī▫ānā.
are satisfied, joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਉਆ ਕੈ ਸਮਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ
दुख सुख उआ कै समत बीचारा ॥
Ḏukẖ sukẖ u▫ā kai samaṯ bīcẖārā.
They look upon pleasure and pain as the same.

ਨਰਕ ਸੁਰਗ ਰਹਤ ਅਉਤਾਰਾ
नरक सुरग रहत अउतारा ॥
Narak surag rahaṯ a▫uṯārā.
They are exempt from incarnation into heaven or hell.

ਤਾਹੂ ਸੰਗ ਤਾਹੂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪਾ
ताहू संग ताहू निरलेपा ॥
Ŧāhū sang ṯāhū nirlepā.
They live in the world, and yet they are detached from it.

ਪੂਰਨ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ
पूरन घट घट पुरख बिसेखा ॥
Pūran gẖat gẖat purakẖ bisekẖā.
The Sublime Lord, the Primal Being, is totally pervading each and every heart.

ਉਆ ਰਸ ਮਹਿ ਉਆਹੂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ
उआ रस महि उआहू सुखु पाइआ ॥
U▫ā ras mėh u▫āhū sukẖ pā▫i▫ā.
In His Love, they find peace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਪਤ ਨਹੀ ਤਿਹ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੪੨॥
नानक लिपत नही तिह माइआ ॥४२॥
Nānak lipaṯ nahī ṯih mā▫i▫ā. ||42||
O Nanak, Maya does not cling to them at all. ||42||

Shalok:

ਯਾਰ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਾਜਨਹੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਛੂਟਨੁ ਨਾਹਿ
यार मीत सुनि साजनहु बिनु हरि छूटनु नाहि ॥
Yār mīṯ sun sājanhu bin har cẖẖūtan nāhi.
Listen, my dear friends and companions: without the Lord, there is no salvation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਚਰਨੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
नानक तिह बंधन कटे गुर की चरनी पाहि ॥१॥
Nānak ṯih banḏẖan kate gur kī cẖarnī pāhi. ||1||
O Nanak, one who falls at the Feet of the Guru, has his bonds cut away. ||1||

ਪਵੜੀ
पवड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਯਯਾ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧੀਆ
यया जतन करत बहु बिधीआ ॥
Ya▫yā jaṯan karaṯ baho biḏẖī▫ā.
YAYYA: People try all sorts of things,

ਏਕ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਹ ਲਉ ਸਿਧੀਆ
एक नाम बिनु कह लउ सिधीआ ॥
Ėk nām bin kah la▫o siḏẖī▫ā.
but without the One Name, how far can they succeed?

ਯਾਹੂ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਹੋਤ ਛੁਟਾਰਾ
याहू जतन करि होत छुटारा ॥
Yāhū jaṯan kar hoṯ cẖẖutārā.
Those efforts, by which emancipation may be attained -

ਉਆਹੂ ਜਤਨ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਾਰਾ
उआहू जतन साध संगारा ॥
U▫āhū jaṯan sāḏẖ sangārā.
those efforts are made in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਯਾ ਉਬਰਨ ਧਾਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਊ
या उबरन धारै सभु कोऊ ॥
Yā ubran ḏẖārai sabẖ ko▫ū.
Everyone has this idea of salvation,

ਉਆਹਿ ਜਪੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਉਬਰ ਹੋਊ
उआहि जपे बिनु उबर न होऊ ॥
U▫āhi jape bin ubar na ho▫ū.
but without meditation, there can be no salvation.

ਯਾਹੂ ਤਰਨ ਤਾਰਨ ਸਮਰਾਥਾ
याहू तरन तारन समराथा ॥
Yāhū ṯaran ṯāran samrāthā.
The All-powerful Lord is the boat to carry us across.

ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਨਰਨਾਥਾ
राखि लेहु निरगुन नरनाथा ॥
Rākẖ leho nirgun narnāthā.
O Lord, please save these worthless beings!

ਮਨ ਬਚ ਕ੍ਰਮ ਜਿਹ ਆਪਿ ਜਨਾਈ
मन बच क्रम जिह आपि जनाई ॥
Man bacẖ karam jih āp janā▫ī.
Those whom the Lord Himself instructs in thought, word and deed -

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਮਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੀ ਆਈ ॥੪੩॥
नानक तिह मति प्रगटी आई ॥४३॥
Nānak ṯih maṯ pargatī ā▫ī. ||43||
O Nanak, their intellect is enlightened. ||43||

ਸਲੋਕੁ

Shalok:

ਰੋਸੁ ਕਾਹੂ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਹੁ ਆਪਨ ਆਪੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ
रोसु न काहू संग करहु आपन आपु बीचारि ॥
Ros na kāhū sang karahu āpan āp bīcẖār.
Do not be angry with anyone else; look within your own self instead.

ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਨਾ ਜਗਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
होइ निमाना जगि रहहु नानक नदरी पारि ॥१॥
Ho▫e nimānā jag rahhu Nānak naḏrī pār. ||1||
Be humble in this world, O Nanak, and by His Grace you shall be carried across. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਰਾਰਾ ਰੇਨ ਹੋਤ ਸਭ ਜਾ ਕੀ
रारा रेन होत सभ जा की ॥
Rārā ren hoṯ sabẖ jā kī.
RARRA: Be the dust under the feet of all.

ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਛੁਟੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਾਕੀ
तजि अभिमानु छुटै तेरी बाकी ॥
Ŧaj abẖimān cẖẖutai ṯerī bākī.
Give up your egotistical pride, and the balance of your account shall be written off.

ਰਣਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਤਉ ਸੀਝਹਿ ਭਾਈ
रणि दरगहि तउ सीझहि भाई ॥
Raṇ ḏargahi ṯa▫o sījẖėh bẖā▫ī.
Then, you shall win the battle in the Court of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਜਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ
जउ गुरमुखि राम नाम लिव लाई ॥
Ja▫o gurmukẖ rām nām liv lā▫ī.
As Gurmukh, lovingly attune yourself to the Lord's Name.

ਰਹਤ ਰਹਤ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਬਿਕਾਰਾ
रहत रहत रहि जाहि बिकारा ॥
Rahaṯ rahaṯ rėh jāhi bikārā.
Your evil ways shall be slowly and steadily blotted out,

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ
गुर पूरे कै सबदि अपारा ॥
Gur pūre kai sabaḏ apārā.
by the Shabad, the Incomparable Word of the Perfect Guru.

ਰਾਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਮਾਤੇ
राते रंग नाम रस माते ॥
Rāṯe rang nām ras māṯe.
You shall be imbued with the Lord's Love, and intoxicated with the Nectar of the Naam.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੪੪॥
नानक हरि गुर कीनी दाते ॥४४॥
Nānak har gur kīnī ḏāṯe. ||44||
O Nanak, the Lord, the Guru, has given this gift. ||44||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਲਾਲਚ ਝੂਠ ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਇਆ ਦੇਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਸ
लालच झूठ बिखै बिआधि इआ देही महि बास ॥
Lālacẖ jẖūṯẖ bikẖai bi▫āḏẖ i▫ā ḏehī mėh bās.
The afflictions of greed, falsehood and corruption abide in this body.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੀਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੂਖਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੧॥
हरि हरि अम्रितु गुरमुखि पीआ नानक सूखि निवास ॥१॥
Har har amriṯ gurmukẖ pī▫ā Nānak sūkẖ nivās. ||1||
Drinking in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name, Har, Har, O Nanak, the Gurmukh abides in peace. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ

Pauree:

ਲਲਾ ਲਾਵਉ ਅਉਖਧ ਜਾਹੂ
लला लावउ अउखध जाहू ॥
Lalā lāva▫o a▫ukẖaḏẖ jāhū.
LALLA: One who takes the medicine of the Naam, the Name of the Lord,

ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤਿਹ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਖਿਨਾਹੂ
दूख दरद तिह मिटहि खिनाहू ॥
Ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ ṯih mitėh kẖināhū.
is cured of his pain and sorrow in an instant.

ਨਾਮ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜਿਹ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਿਤਾਵੈ
नाम अउखधु जिह रिदै हितावै ॥
Nām a▫ukẖaḏẖ jih riḏai hiṯāvai.
One whose heart is filled with the medicine of the Naam,

ਤਾਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ
ताहि रोगु सुपनै नही आवै ॥
Ŧāhi rog supnai nahī āvai.
is not infested with disease, even in his dreams.

ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ
हरि अउखधु सभ घट है भाई ॥
Har a▫ukẖaḏẖ sabẖ gẖat hai bẖā▫ī.
The medicine of the Lord's Name is in all hearts, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਬਨਾਈ
गुर पूरे बिनु बिधि न बनाई ॥
Gur pūre bin biḏẖ na banā▫ī.
Without the Perfect Guru, no one knows how to prepare it.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਆ
गुरि पूरै संजमु करि दीआ ॥
Gur pūrai sanjam kar ḏī▫ā.
When the Perfect Guru gives the instructions to prepare it,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੂਖ ਥੀਆ ॥੪੫॥
नानक तउ फिरि दूख न थीआ ॥४५॥
Nānak ṯa▫o fir ḏūkẖ na thī▫ā. ||45||
then, O Nanak, one does not suffer illness again. ||45||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥

Shalok:

ਵਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਊਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਠਾਇ
वासुदेव सरबत्र मै ऊन न कतहू ठाइ ॥
vāsuḏev sarbaṯar mai ūn na kaṯhū ṯẖā▫e.
The All-pervading Lord is in all places. There is no place where He does not exist.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਇ ਦੁਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
अंतरि बाहरि संगि है नानक काइ दुराइ ॥१॥
Anṯar bāhar sang hai Nānak kā▫e ḏurā▫e. ||1||
Inside and outside, He is with you. O Nanak, what can be hidden from Him? ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਵਵਾ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰੀਐ ਕਾਹੂ
ववा वैरु न करीऐ काहू ॥
vavā vair na karī▫ai kāhū.
WAWWA: Do not harbor hatred against anyone.

ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸਮਾਹੂ
घट घट अंतरि ब्रहम समाहू ॥
Gẖat gẖat anṯar barahm samāhū.
In each and every heart, God is contained.

ਵਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿਆ
वासुदेव जल थल महि रविआ ॥
vāsuḏev jal thal mėh ravi▫ā.
The All-pervading Lord is permeating and pervading the oceans and the land.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹੀ ਗਵਿਆ
गुर प्रसादि विरलै ही गविआ ॥
Gur parsāḏ virlai hī gavi▫ā.
How rare are those who, by Guru's Grace, sing of Him.

ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਮਿਟੇ ਤਿਹ ਮਨ ਤੇ
वैर विरोध मिटे तिह मन ते ॥
vair viroḏẖ mite ṯih man ṯe.
Hatred and alienation depart from those

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋ ਸੁਨਤੇ
हरि कीरतनु गुरमुखि जो सुनते ॥
Har kīrṯan gurmukẖ jo sunṯe.
who, as Gurmukh, listen to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.

ਵਰਨ ਚਿਹਨ ਸਗਲਹ ਤੇ ਰਹਤਾ
वरन चिहन सगलह ते रहता ॥
varan cẖihan saglah ṯe rahṯā.
He rises above all social classes and status symbols,
