ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟੈ ਜਮ ਪੰਥ ਕੀ ਜਾਸੁ ਬਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਉ
त्रास मिटै जम पंथ की जासु बसै मनि नाउ ॥
Ŧarās mitai jam panth kī jās basai man nā▫o.
One whose heart is filled with the Name shall have no fear on the path of death.

ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਠਾਉ
गति पावहि मति होइ प्रगास महली पावहि ठाउ ॥
Gaṯ pāvahi maṯ ho▫e pargās mahlī pāvahi ṯẖā▫o.
He shall obtain salvation, and his intellect shall be enlightened; he will find his place in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

ਤਾਹੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਨੁ ਚਲੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜੋਬਨ ਨਹ ਰਾਜ
ताहू संगि न धनु चलै ग्रिह जोबन नह राज ॥
Ŧāhū sang na ḏẖan cẖalai garih joban nah rāj.
Neither wealth, nor household, nor youth, nor power shall go along with you.

ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹਹੁ ਇਹੈ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਕਾਜ
संतसंगि सिमरत रहहु इहै तुहारै काज ॥
Saṯsang simraṯ rahhu ihai ṯuhārai kāj.
In the Society of the Saints, meditate in remembrance on the Lord. This alone shall be of use to you.

ਤਾਤਾ ਕਛੂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਜਉ ਤਾਪ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ਆਪ
ताता कछू न होई है जउ ताप निवारै आप ॥
Ŧāṯā kacẖẖū na ho▫ī hai ja▫o ṯāp nivārai āp.
There will be no burning at all, when He Himself takes away your fever.

ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮਹਿ ਆਪਹਿ ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ॥੩੨॥
प्रतिपालै नानक हमहि आपहि माई बाप ॥३२॥
Paraṯipālai Nānak hamėh āpėh mā▫ī bāp. ||32||
O Nanak, the Lord Himself cherishes us; He is our Mother and Father. ||32||

Shalok:

ਥਾਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਘਾਲਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਲਾਥ
थाके बहु बिधि घालते त्रिपति न त्रिसना लाथ ॥
Thāke baho biḏẖ gẖālṯe ṯaripaṯ na ṯarisnā lāth.
They have grown weary, struggling in all sorts of ways; but they are not satisfied, and their thirst is not quenched.

ਸੰਚਿ ਸੰਚਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਥ ॥੧॥
संचि संचि साकत मूए नानक माइआ न साथ ॥१॥
Sancẖ sancẖ sākaṯ mū▫e Nānak mā▫i▫ā na sāth. ||1||
Gathering in and hoarding what they can, the faithless cynics die, O Nanak, but the wealth of Maya does not go with them in the end. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ

ਥਥਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਕੋਊ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਇ ਪਸਾਰਹੁ ਪਾਵ
थथा थिरु कोऊ नही काइ पसारहु पाव ॥
Thathā thir ko▫ū nahī kā▫e pasārahu pāv.
T'HAT'HA: Nothing is permanent - why do you stretch out your feet?

ਅਨਿਕ ਬੰਚ ਬਲ ਛਲ ਕਰਹੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਏਕ ਉਪਾਵ
अनिक बंच बल छल करहु माइआ एक उपाव ॥
Anik bancẖ bal cẖẖal karahu mā▫i▫ā ek upāv.
You commit so many fraudulent and deceitful actions as you chase after Maya.

ਥੈਲੀ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਥਾਕਿ ਪਰਹੁ ਗਾਵਾਰ
थैली संचहु स्रमु करहु थाकि परहु गावार ॥
Thailī sancẖahu saram karahu thāk parahu gāvār.
You work to fill up your bag, you fool, and then you fall down exhausted.

ਮਨ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਆਵਈ ਅੰਤੇ ਅਉਸਰ ਬਾਰ
मन कै कामि न आवई अंते अउसर बार ॥
Man kai kām na āvī anṯe a▫osar bār.
But this shall be of no use to you at all at that very last instant.

ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਹੁ ਸੰਤਹ ਕੀ ਸਿਖ ਲੇਹੁ
थिति पावहु गोबिद भजहु संतह की सिख लेहु ॥
Thiṯ pāvhu gobiḏ bẖajahu sanṯėh kī sikẖ leho.
You shall find stability only by vibrating upon the Lord of the Universe, and accepting the Teachings of the Saints.

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਸਦ ਏਕ ਸਿਉ ਇਆ ਸਾਚਾ ਅਸਨੇਹੁ
प्रीति करहु सद एक सिउ इआ साचा असनेहु ॥
Parīṯ karahu saḏ ek si▫o i▫ā sācẖā asnehu.
Embrace love for the One Lord forever - this is true love!

ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨੋ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਏਕੈ ਹਾਥ
कारन करन करावनो सभ बिधि एकै हाथ ॥
Kāran karan karāvano sabẖ biḏẖ ekai hāth.
He is the Doer, the Cause of causes. All ways and means are in His Hands alone.

ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੰਤ ਅਨਾਥ ॥੩੩॥
जितु जितु लावहु तितु तितु लगहि नानक जंत अनाथ ॥३३॥
Jiṯ jiṯ lāvhu ṯiṯ ṯiṯ lagėh Nānak janṯ anāth. ||33||
Whatever You attach me to, to that I am attached; O Nanak, I am just a helpless creature. ||33||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਦਾਸਹ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਹਾਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਛੁ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ
दासह एकु निहारिआ सभु कछु देवनहार ॥
Ḏāsah ek nihāri▫ā sabẖ kacẖẖ ḏevanhār.
His slaves have gazed upon the One Lord, the Giver of everything.

ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੧॥
सासि सासि सिमरत रहहि नानक दरस अधार ॥१॥
Sās sās simraṯ rahėh Nānak ḏaras aḏẖār. ||1||
They continue to contemplate Him with each and every breath; O Nanak, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is their Support. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਦਦਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਨਹਾਰ
ददा दाता एकु है सभ कउ देवनहार ॥
Ḏaḏā ḏāṯā ek hai sabẖ ka▫o ḏevanhār.
DADDA: The One Lord is the Great Giver; He is the Giver to all.

ਦੇਂਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਆਵਈ ਅਗਨਤ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ
देंदे तोटि न आवई अगनत भरे भंडार ॥
Ḏeʼnḏe ṯot na āvī agnaṯ bẖare bẖandār.
There is no limit to His Giving. His countless warehouses are filled to overflowing.

ਦੈਨਹਾਰੁ ਸਦ ਜੀਵਨਹਾਰਾ
दैनहारु सद जीवनहारा ॥
Ḏainhār saḏ jīvanhārā.
The Great Giver is alive forever.

ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਿਉ ਤਾਹਿ ਬਿਸਾਰਾ
मन मूरख किउ ताहि बिसारा ॥
Man mūrakẖ ki▫o ṯāhi bisārā.
O foolish mind, why have you forgotten Him?

ਦੋਸੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਕਉ ਮੀਤਾ
दोसु नही काहू कउ मीता ॥
Ḏos nahī kāhū ka▫o mīṯā.
No one is at fault, my friend.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਬੰਧੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਤਾ
माइआ मोह बंधु प्रभि कीता ॥
Mā▫i▫ā moh banḏẖ parabẖ kīṯā.
God created the bondage of emotional attachment to Maya.

ਦਰਦ ਨਿਵਾਰਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਆਪੇ
दरद निवारहि जा के आपे ॥
Ḏaraḏ nivārėh jā ke āpe.
He Himself removes the pains of the Gurmukh;

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੇ ॥੩੪॥
नानक ते ते गुरमुखि ध्रापे ॥३४॥
Nānak ṯe ṯe gurmukẖ ḏẖarāpe. ||34||
O Nanak, he is fulfilled. ||34||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਧਰ ਜੀਅਰੇ ਇਕ ਟੇਕ ਤੂ ਲਾਹਿ ਬਿਡਾਨੀ ਆਸ
धर जीअरे इक टेक तू लाहि बिडानी आस ॥
Ḏẖar jī▫are ik tek ṯū lāhi bidānī ās.
O my soul, grasp the Support of the One Lord; give up your hopes in others.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
नानक नामु धिआईऐ कारजु आवै रासि ॥१॥
Nānak nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai kāraj āvai rās. ||1||
O Nanak, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਧਧਾ ਧਾਵਤ ਤਉ ਮਿਟੈ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਬਾਸੁ
धधा धावत तउ मिटै संतसंगि होइ बासु ॥
Ḏẖaḏẖā ḏẖāvaṯ ṯa▫o mitai saṯsang ho▫e bās.
DHADHA: The mind's wanderings cease, when one comes to dwell in the Society of the Saints.

ਧੁਰ ਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਆਪਿ ਤਉ ਹੋਇ ਮਨਹਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ
धुर ते किरपा करहु आपि तउ होइ मनहि परगासु ॥
Ḏẖur ṯe kirpā karahu āp ṯa▫o ho▫e manėh pargās.
If the Lord is Merciful from the very beginning, then one's mind is enlightened.

ਧਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਤੇਊ ਸਚ ਸਾਹਾ
धनु साचा तेऊ सच साहा ॥
Ḏẖan sācẖā ṯe▫ū sacẖ sāhā.
Those who have the true wealth are the true bankers.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਸਾਹਾ
हरि हरि पूंजी नाम बिसाहा ॥
Har har pūnjī nām bihāsā.
The Lord, Har, Har, is their wealth, and they trade in His Name.

ਧੀਰਜੁ ਜਸੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਤਿਹ ਬਨਿਆ
धीरजु जसु सोभा तिह बनिआ ॥
Ḏẖīraj jas sobẖā ṯih bani▫ā.
Patience, glory and honor come to those

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਜਿਹ ਸੁਨਿਆ
हरि हरि नामु स्रवन जिह सुनिआ ॥
Har har nām sarvan jih suni▫ā.
who listen to the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਹ ਘਟਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਈ
गुरमुखि जिह घटि रहे समाई ॥
Gurmukẖ jih gẖat rahe samā▫ī.
That Gurmukh whose heart remains merged with the Lord,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਜਨ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੩੫॥
नानक तिह जन मिली वडाई ॥३५॥
Nānak ṯih jan milī vadā▫ī. ||35||
O Nanak, obtains glorious greatness. ||35||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥

Shalok:

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਿਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ
नानक नामु नामु जपु जपिआ अंतरि बाहरि रंगि ॥
Nānak nām nām jap japi▫ā anṯar bāhar rang.
O Nanak, one who chants the Naam, and meditates on the Naam with love inwardly and outwardly,

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਨਰਕੁ ਨਾਹਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
गुरि पूरै उपदेसिआ नरकु नाहि साधसंगि ॥१॥
Gur pūrai upḏesi▫ā narak nāhi sāḏẖsang. ||1||
receives the Teachings from the Perfect Guru; he joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, and does not fall into hell. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

ਨੰਨਾ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ
नंना नरकि परहि ते नाही ॥
Nannā narak parėh ṯe nāhī.
NANNA: Those shall not fall into hell,

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬਸਾਹੀ
जा कै मनि तनि नामु बसाही ॥
Jā kai man ṯan nām basāhī.
whose minds and bodies are filled with the Naam.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋ ਜਪਤੇ
नामु निधानु गुरमुखि जो जपते ॥
Nām niḏẖān gurmukẖ jo japṯe.
Those Gurmukhs who chant the treasure of the Naam,

ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਖਪਤੇ
बिखु माइआ महि ना ओइ खपते ॥
Bikẖ mā▫i▫ā mėh nā o▫e kẖapṯe.
are not destroyed by the poison of Maya.

ਨੰਨਾਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਤਾ ਤਾ ਕਹੁ
नंनाकारु न होता ता कहु ॥
Nannākār na hoṯā ṯā kaho.
Those shall not be turned away,

ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਜਾ ਕਹੁ
नामु मंत्रु गुरि दीनो जा कहु ॥
Nām manṯar gur ḏīno jā kaho.
who have been given the Mantra of the Naam by the Guru.
