ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ
अपनी क्रिपा करहु भगवंता ॥
Apnī kirpā karahu bẖagvanṯā.
Please shower me with Your Mercy, O Lord God!

ਛਾਡਿ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਬਹੁ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ
छाडि सिआनप बहु चतुराई ॥
Cẖẖād si▫ānap baho cẖaṯurā▫ī.
I have given up my excessive cleverness and scheming,

ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਈ
संतन की मन टेक टिकाई ॥
Sanṯan kī man tek tikā▫ī.
and I have taken the support of the Saints as my mind's support.

ਛਾਰੁ ਕੀ ਪੁਤਰੀ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ
छारु की पुतरी परम गति पाई ॥
Cẖẖār kī puṯrī param gaṯ pā▫ī.
Even a puppet of ashes attains the supreme status,

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਹਾਈ ॥੨੩॥
नानक जा कउ संत सहाई ॥२३॥
Nānak jā ka▫o sanṯ sahā▫ī. ||23||
O Nanak, if it has the help and support of the Saints. ||23||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਜੋਰ ਜੁਲਮ ਫੂਲਹਿ ਘਨੋ ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ
जोर जुलम फूलहि घनो काची देह बिकार ॥
Jor julam fūlėh gẖano kācẖī ḏeh bikār.
Practicing oppression and tyranny, he puffs himself up; he acts in corruption with his frail, perishable body.

ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਛੁਟਾਰ ॥੧॥
अह्मबुधि बंधन परे नानक नाम छुटार ॥१॥
Ahaʼn▫buḏẖ banḏẖan pare Nānak nām cẖẖutār. ||1||
He is bound by his egotistical intellect; O Nanak, salvation comes only through the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਜਜਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉ ਕਛੁ ਹੂਆ
जजा जानै हउ कछु हूआ ॥
Jajā jānai ha▫o kacẖẖ hū▫ā.
JAJJA: When someone, in his ego, believes that he has become something,

ਬਾਧਿਓ ਜਿਉ ਨਲਿਨੀ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸੂਆ
बाधिओ जिउ नलिनी भ्रमि सूआ ॥
Bāḏẖi▫o ji▫o nalinī bẖaram sū▫ā.
he is caught in his error, like a parrot in a trap.

ਜਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉ ਭਗਤੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ
जउ जानै हउ भगतु गिआनी ॥
Ja▫o jānai ha▫o bẖagaṯ gi▫ānī.
When he believes, in his ego, that he is a devotee and a spiritual teacher,

ਆਗੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਨੀ
आगै ठाकुरि तिलु नही मानी ॥
Āgai ṯẖākur ṯil nahī mānī.
then, in the world hereafter, the Lord of the Universe shall have no regard for him at all.

ਜਉ ਜਾਨੈ ਮੈ ਕਥਨੀ ਕਰਤਾ
जउ जानै मै कथनी करता ॥
Ja▫o jānai mai kathnī karṯā.
When he believes himself to be a preacher,

ਬਿਆਪਾਰੀ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਜਿਉ ਫਿਰਤਾ
बिआपारी बसुधा जिउ फिरता ॥
Bi▫āpārī basuḏẖā ji▫o firṯā.
he is merely a peddler wandering over the earth.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ
साधसंगि जिह हउमै मारी ॥
Sāḏẖsang jih ha▫umai mārī.
But one who conquers his ego in the Company of the Holy,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੇ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੨੪॥
नानक ता कउ मिले मुरारी ॥२४॥
Nānak ṯā ka▫o mile murārī. ||24||
O Nanak, meets the Lord. ||24||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਝਾਲਾਘੇ ਉਠਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਆਰਾਧਿ
झालाघे उठि नामु जपि निसि बासुर आराधि ॥
Jẖālāgẖe uṯẖ nām jap nis bāsur ārāḏẖ.
Rise early in the morning, and chant the Naam; worship and adore the Lord, night and day.

ਕਾਰ੍ਹਾ ਤੁਝੈ ਬਿਆਪਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਟੈ ਉਪਾਧਿ ॥੧॥
कार्हा तुझै न बिआपई नानक मिटै उपाधि ॥१॥
Kārĥā ṯujẖai na bi▫āpa▫ī Nānak mitai upāḏẖ. ||1||
Anxiety shall not afflict you, O Nanak, and your misfortune shall vanish. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥

Pauree:

ਝਝਾ ਝੂਰਨੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਤੁਮਾਰੋ
झझा झूरनु मिटै तुमारो ॥
Jẖajẖā jẖūran mitai ṯumāro.
JHAJHA: Your sorrows shall depart,

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੋ
राम नाम सिउ करि बिउहारो ॥
Rām nām si▫o kar bi▫uhāro.
when you deal with the Lord's Name.

ਝੂਰਤ ਝੂਰਤ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂਆ
झूरत झूरत साकत मूआ ॥
Jẖūraṯ jẖūraṯ sākaṯ mū▫ā.
The faithless cynic dies in sorrow and pain;

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਹੋਤ ਭਾਉ ਬੀਆ
जा कै रिदै होत भाउ बीआ ॥
Jā kai riḏai hoṯ bẖā▫o bī▫ā.
his heart is filled with the love of duality.

ਝਰਹਿ ਕਸੰਮਲ ਪਾਪ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨੂਆ
झरहि कसमल पाप तेरे मनूआ ॥
Jẖarėh kasamal pāp ṯere manū▫ā.
Your evil deeds and sins shall fall away, O my mind,

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨੂਆ
अम्रित कथा संतसंगि सुनूआ ॥
Amriṯ kathā saṯsang sunū▫ā.
listening to the ambrosial speech in the Society of the Saints.

ਝਰਹਿ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦ੍ਰੁਸਟਾਈ
झरहि काम क्रोध द्रुसटाई ॥
Jẖarėh kām kroḏẖ ḏarustā▫ī.
Sexual desire, anger and wickedness fall away,

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥੨੫॥
नानक जा कउ क्रिपा गुसाई ॥२५॥
Nānak jā ka▫o kirpā gusā▫ī. ||25||
O Nanak, from those who are blessed by the Mercy of the Lord of the World. ||25||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਞਤਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਹਨੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੀਤ
ञतन करहु तुम अनिक बिधि रहनु न पावहु मीत ॥
Ñaṯan karahu ṯum anik biḏẖ rahan na pāvhu mīṯ.
You can try all sorts of things, but you still cannot remain here, my friend.

ਜੀਵਤ ਰਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
जीवत रहहु हरि हरि भजहु नानक नाम परीति ॥१॥
Jīvaṯ rahhu har har bẖajahu Nānak nām parīṯ. ||1||
But you shall live forevermore, O Nanak, if you vibrate and love the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

ਪਵੜੀ
पवड़ी ॥
Pavṛī.
Pauree:

ਞੰਞਾ ਞਾਣਹੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਸਹੀ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਤ ਏਹ ਹੇਤ
ञंञा ञाणहु द्रिड़ु सही बिनसि जात एह हेत ॥
Ñañā njāṇaho ḏariṛ sahī binas jāṯ eh heṯ.
NYANYA: Know this as absolutely correct, that that this ordinary love shall come to an end.

ਗਣਤੀ ਗਣਉ ਗਣਿ ਸਕਉ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੇ ਕੇਤ
गणती गणउ न गणि सकउ ऊठि सिधारे केत ॥
Gaṇṯī gaṇa▫o na gaṇ saka▫o ūṯẖ siḏẖāre keṯ.
You may count and calculate as much as you want, but you cannot count how many have arisen and departed.

ਞੋ ਪੇਖਉ ਸੋ ਬਿਨਸਤਉ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਕਰੀਐ ਸੰਗੁ
ञो पेखउ सो बिनसतउ का सिउ करीऐ संगु ॥
Ño pekẖa▫o so binasṯa▫o kā si▫o karī▫ai sang.
Whoever I see shall perish. With whom should I associate?

ਞਾਣਹੁ ਇਆ ਬਿਧਿ ਸਹੀ ਚਿਤ ਝੂਠਉ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗੁ
ञाणहु इआ बिधि सही चित झूठउ माइआ रंगु ॥
Ñāṇaho i▫ā biḏẖ sahī cẖiṯ jẖūṯẖ▫o mā▫i▫ā rang.
Know this as true in your consciousness, that the love of Maya is false.

ਞਾਣਤ ਸੋਈ ਸੰਤੁ ਸੁਇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਤੇ ਕੀਚਿਤ ਭਿੰਨ
ञाणत सोई संतु सुइ भ्रम ते कीचित भिंन ॥
Ñaṇaṯ so▫ī sanṯ su▫e bẖaram ṯe kīcẖiṯ bẖinn.
He alone knows, and he alone is a Saint, who is free of doubt.

ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਤਿਹ ਕਢਹੁ ਜਿਹ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ
अंध कूप ते तिह कढहु जिह होवहु सुप्रसंन ॥
Anḏẖ kūp ṯe ṯih kadẖahu jih hovhu suparsan.
He is lifted up and out of the deep dark pit; the Lord is totally pleased with him.

ਞਾ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਸਮਰਥ ਤੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗ
ञा कै हाथि समरथ ते कारन करनै जोग ॥
Ñā kai hāth samrath ṯe kāran karnai jog.
God's Hand is All-powerful; He is the Creator, the Cause of causes.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਞਾਹੂ ਕੀਓ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੨੬॥
नानक तिह उसतति करउ ञाहू कीओ संजोग ॥२६॥
Nānak ṯih usṯaṯ kara▫o ñahū kī▫o sanjog. ||26||
O Nanak, praise the One, who joins us to Himself. ||26||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਸਾਧ ਸੇਵ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇ
टूटे बंधन जनम मरन साध सेव सुखु पाइ ॥
Tūte banḏẖan janam maran sāḏẖ sev sukẖ pā▫e.
The bondage of birth and death is broken and peace is obtained, by serving the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਹੁ ਬੀਸਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
नानक मनहु न बीसरै गुण निधि गोबिद राइ ॥१॥
Nānak manhu na bīsrai guṇ niḏẖ gobiḏ rā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, may I never forget from my mind, the Treasure of Virtue, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe. ||1||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਟਹਲ ਕਰਹੁ ਤਉ ਏਕ ਕੀ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਕੋਇ
टहल करहु तउ एक की जा ते ब्रिथा न कोइ ॥
Tahal karahu ṯa▫o ek kī jā ṯe baritha na ko▫e.
Work for the One Lord; no one returns empty-handed from Him.

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੀਐ ਬਸੈ ਜੋ ਚਾਹਹੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ
मनि तनि मुखि हीऐ बसै जो चाहहु सो होइ ॥
Man ṯan mukẖ hī▫ai basai jo cẖāhhu so ho▫e.
When the Lord abides within your mind, body, mouth and heart, then whatever you desire shall come to pass.

ਟਹਲ ਮਹਲ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ
टहल महल ता कउ मिलै जा कउ साध क्रिपाल ॥
Tahal mahal ṯā ka▫o milai jā ka▫o sāḏẖ kirpāl.
He alone obtains the Lord's service, and the Mansion of His Presence, unto whom the Holy Saint is compassionate.

ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਤਉ ਬਸੈ ਜਉ ਆਪਨ ਹੋਹਿ ਦਇਆਲ
साधू संगति तउ बसै जउ आपन होहि दइआल ॥
Sāḏẖū sangaṯ ṯa▫o basai ja▫o āpan hohi ḏa▫i▫āl.
He joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, only when the Lord Himself shows His Mercy.

ਟੋਹੇ ਟਾਹੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਵਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ
टोहे टाहे बहु भवन बिनु नावै सुखु नाहि ॥
Tohe tāhe baho bẖavan bin nāvai sukẖ nāhi.
I have searched and searched, across so many worlds, but without the Name, there is no peace.

ਟਲਹਿ ਜਾਮ ਕੇ ਦੂਤ ਤਿਹ ਜੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ
टलहि जाम के दूत तिह जु साधू संगि समाहि ॥
Talėh jām ke ḏūṯ ṯih jo sāḏẖū sang samāhi.
The Messenger of Death retreats from those who dwell in the Saadh Sangat.

ਬਾਰਿ ਬਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਕੇ
बारि बारि जाउ संत सदके ॥
Bār bār jā▫o sanṯ saḏke.
Again and again, I am forever devoted to the Saints.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸੇ ਕਦਿ ਕੇ ॥੨੭॥
नानक पाप बिनासे कदि के ॥२७॥
Nānak pāp bināse kaḏ ke. ||27||
O Nanak, my sins from so long ago have been erased. ||27||

ਸਲੋਕੁ
सलोकु ॥
Salok.
Shalok:

ਠਾਕ ਹੋਤੀ ਤਿਨਹੁ ਦਰਿ ਜਿਹ ਹੋਵਹੁ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ
ठाक न होती तिनहु दरि जिह होवहु सुप्रसंन ॥
Ŧẖāk na hoṯī ṯinhu ḏar jih hovhu suparsan.
Those beings, with whom the Lord is thoroughly pleased, meet with no obstacles at His Door.

ਜੋ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ॥੧॥
जो जन प्रभि अपुने करे नानक ते धनि धंनि ॥१॥
Jo jan parabẖ apune kare Nānak ṯe ḏẖan ḏẖan. ||1||
Those humble beings whom God has made His own, O Nanak, are blessed, so very blessed. ||1||
