ਰੇ ਮਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਹ ਰਚਹੁ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Re man bin har jah racẖahu ṯah ṯah banḏẖan pāhi.
O mind: without the Lord, whatever you are involved in shall bind you in chains.
|
ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਸਾਕਤ ਤੇਊ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
Jih biḏẖ kaṯhū na cẖẖūtī▫ai sākaṯ ṯe▫ū kamāhi.
The faithless cynic does those deeds which will never allow him to be emancipated.
|
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਰਤ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਭਾਰੁ ਅਫਾਰ ॥
Ha▫o ha▫o karṯe karam raṯ ṯā ko bẖār afār.
Acting in egotism, selfishness and conceit, the lovers of rituals carry the unbearable load.

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਉ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਉ ਤਉ ਏਊ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
Parīṯ nahī ja▫o nām si▫o ṯa▫o e▫ū karam bikār.
When there is no love for the Naam, then these rituals are corrupt.

ਬਾਧੇ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਮੀਠੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ॥
Bāḏẖe jam kī jevrī mīṯẖī mā▫i▫ā rang.
The rope of death binds those who are in love with the sweet taste of Maya.

ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੇ ਮੋਹੇ ਨਹ ਬੁਝਹਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦਹੂ ਸੰਗ ॥
Bẖaram ke mohe nah bujẖėh so parabẖ saḏhū sang.
Deluded by doubt, they do not understand that God is always with them.

ਲੇਖੈ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਛੂਟੀਐ ਕਾਚੀ ਭੀਤਿ ਨ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
Lekẖai gaṇaṯ na cẖẖūtī▫ai kācẖī bẖīṯ na suḏẖ.
When their accounts are called for, they shall not be released; their wall of mud cannot be washed clean.

ਜਿਸਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਤਿਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬੁਧਿ ॥੯॥
Jisahi bujẖā▫e nānkā ṯih gurmukẖ nirmal buḏẖ. ||9||
One who is made to understand - O Nanak, that Gurmukh obtains immaculate understanding. ||9||

ਟੂਟੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਜਾਸੁ ਕੇ ਹੋਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Tūte banḏẖan jās ke ho▫ā sāḏẖū sang.
One whose bonds are cut away joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਰੰਗ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੂੜਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥
Jo rāṯe rang ek kai Nānak gūṛā rang. ||1||
Those who are imbued with the Love of the One Lord, O Nanak, take on the deep and lasting color of His Love. ||1||

ਰਾਰਾ ਰੰਗਹੁ ਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
Rārā rangahu i▫ā man apnā.
RARRA: Dye this heart of yours in the color of the Lord's Love.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ॥
Har har nām japahu jap rasnā.
Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har - chant it with your tongue.
|
ਰੇ ਰੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
Re re ḏargėh kahai na ko▫ū.
In the Court of the Lord, no one shall speak harshly to you.
|
ਆਉ ਬੈਠੁ ਆਦਰੁ ਸੁਭ ਦੇਊ ॥
Ā▫o baiṯẖ āḏar subẖ ḏe▫ū.
Everyone shall welcome you, saying, "Come, and sit down".
|
ਉਆ ਮਹਲੀ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੂ ਬਾਸਾ ॥
U▫ā mahlī pāvahi ṯū bāsā.
In that Mansion of the Lord's Presence, you shall find a home.
|
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਨਹ ਹੋਇ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥
Janam maran nah ho▫e bināsā.
There is no birth or death, or destruction there.
|
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਧੁਰਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ॥
Masṯak karam likẖi▫o ḏẖur jā kai.
One who has such karma written on his forehead,
|
ਹਰਿ ਸੰਪੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਘਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੈ ॥੧੦॥
Har sampai Nānak gẖar ṯā kai. ||10||
O Nanak, has the wealth of the Lord in his home. ||10||

ਲਾਲਚ ਝੂਠ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਮੂੜੇ ਅੰਧ ॥
Lālacẖ jẖūṯẖ bikār moh bi▫āpaṯ mūṛe anḏẖ.
Greed, falsehood, corruption and emotional attachment entangle the blind and the foolish.

ਲਾਗਿ ਪਰੇ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਸਿਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਧ ॥੧॥
Lāg pare ḏurganḏẖ si▫o Nānak mā▫i▫ā banḏẖ. ||1||
Bound down by Maya, O Nanak, a foul odor clings to them. ||1||

ਲਲਾ ਲਪਟਿ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਸ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
Lalā lapat bikẖai ras rāṯe.
LALLA: People are entangled in the love of corrupt pleasures;

ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦ ਮਾਤੇ ॥
Ahaʼn▫buḏẖ mā▫i▫ā maḏ māṯe.
they are drunk with the wine of egotistical intellect and Maya.
|
ਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਮਰਨਾ ॥
I▫ā mā▫i▫ā mėh janmėh marnā.
In this Maya, they are born and die.
|
ਜਿਉ ਜਿਉ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਤਿਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਕਰਨਾ ॥
Ji▫o ji▫o hukam ṯivai ṯi▫o karnā.
People act according to the Hukam of the Lord's Command.
|
ਕੋਊ ਊਨ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Ko▫ū ūn na ko▫ū pūrā.
No one is perfect, and no one is imperfect.
|
ਕੋਊ ਸੁਘਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਮੂਰਾ ॥
Ko▫ū sugẖar na ko▫ū mūrā.
No one is wise, and no one is foolish.
|
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥
Jiṯ jiṯ lāvhu ṯiṯ ṯiṯ lagnā.
Wherever the Lord engages someone, there he is engaged.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਸਦਾ ਅਲਿਪਨਾ ॥੧੧॥
Nānak ṯẖākur saḏā alipanā. ||11||
O Nanak, our Lord and Master is forever detached. ||11||

ਲਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਥਾਹ ॥
Lāl gupāl gobinḏ parabẖ gahir gambẖīr athāh.
My Beloved God, the Sustainer of the World, the Lord of the Universe, is deep, profound and unfathomable.

ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਵਰ ਕੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ॥੧॥
Ḏūsar nāhī avar ko Nānak beparvāh. ||1||
There is no other like Him; O Nanak, He is not worried. ||1||

ਲਲਾ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਕੋਊ ॥
Lalā ṯā kai lavai na ko▫ū.
LALLA: There is no one equal to Him.

ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਅਵਰ ਨਹ ਹੋਊ ॥
Ėkėh āp avar nah ho▫ū.
He Himself is the One; there shall never be any other.
|
ਹੋਵਨਹਾਰੁ ਹੋਤ ਸਦ ਆਇਆ ॥
Hovanhār hoṯ saḏ ā▫i▫ā.
He is now, He has been, and He shall always be.
|
ਉਆ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
U▫ā kā anṯ na kāhū pā▫i▫ā.
No one has ever found His limit.
|
ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਪੂਰ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥
Kīt hasaṯ mėh pūr samāne.
In the ant and in the elephant, He is totally pervading.
|
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪੁਰਖ ਸਭ ਠਾਊ ਜਾਨੇ ॥
Pargat purakẖ sabẖ ṯẖā▫ū jāne.
The Lord, the Primal Being, is known by everyone everywhere.
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦੀਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥
Jā ka▫o ḏīno har ras apnā.
That one, unto whom the Lord has given His Love -
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਹ ਜਪਨਾ ॥੧੨॥
Nānak gurmukẖ har har ṯih japnā. ||12||
O Nanak, that Gurmukh chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||12||

ਆਤਮ ਰਸੁ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਣੁ ॥
Āṯam ras jih jāni▫ā har rang sėhje māṇ.
One who knows the taste of the Lord's sublime essence, intuitively enjoys the Lord's Love.

ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨਿ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਜਨ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥
Nānak ḏẖan ḏẖan ḏẖan jan ā▫e ṯe parvāṇ. ||1||
O Nanak, blessed, blessed, blessed are the Lord's humble servants; how fortunate is their coming into the world! ||1||

ਆਇਆ ਸਫਲ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਗਨੀਐ ॥
Ā▫i▫ā safal ṯāhū ko ganī▫ai.
How fruitful is the coming into the world, of those
|
ਜਾਸੁ ਰਸਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਭਨੀਐ ॥
Jās rasan har har jas bẖanī▫ai.
whose tongues celebrate the Praises of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
|
ਆਇ ਬਸਹਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
Ā▫e basėh sāḏẖū kai sange.
They come and dwell with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਰੰਗੇ ॥
An▫ḏin nām ḏẖi▫āvahi range.
night and day, they lovingly meditate on the Naam.
|
ਆਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Āvaṯ so jan nāmėh rāṯā.
Blessed is the birth of those humble beings who are attuned to the Naam;
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
Jā ka▫o ḏa▫i▫ā ma▫i▫ā biḏẖāṯā.
the Lord, the Architect of Destiny, bestows His Kind Mercy upon them.
|
ਏਕਹਿ ਆਵਨ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
Ėkėh āvan fir jon na ā▫i▫ā.
They are born only once - they shall not be reincarnated again.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
Nānak har kai ḏaras samā▫i▫ā. ||13||
O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||13||

ਯਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ॥
Yās japaṯ man ho▫e anand binsai ḏūjā bẖā▫o.
Chanting it, the mind is filled with bliss; love of duality is eliminated,
|
ਦੂਖ ਦਰਦ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਬੁਝੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੧॥
Ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ ṯarisnā bujẖai Nānak nām samā▫o. ||1||
and pain, distress and desires are quenched. O Nanak, immerse yourself in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
