ਗਉੜੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ
गउड़ी छंत महला १ ॥
Ga▫oṛī cẖẖanṯ mėhlā 1.
Gauree, Chhant, First Mehl:

ਸੁਣਿ ਨਾਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੀਉ ਏਕਲੜੀ ਬਨ ਮਾਹੇ
सुणि नाह प्रभू जीउ एकलड़ी बन माहे ॥
Suṇ nāh parabẖū jī▫o ekalṛī ban māhe.
Hear me, O my Dear Husband God - I am all alone in the wilderness.

ਕਿਉ ਧੀਰੈਗੀ ਨਾਹ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ
किउ धीरैगी नाह बिना प्रभ वेपरवाहे ॥
Ki▫o ḏẖīraigī nāh binā parabẖ veparvāhe.
How can I find comfort without You, O my Carefree Husband God?

ਧਨ ਨਾਹ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਾਕੈ ਬਿਖਮ ਰੈਣਿ ਘਣੇਰੀਆ
धन नाह बाझहु रहि न साकै बिखम रैणि घणेरीआ ॥
Ḏẖan nāh bājẖahu rėh na sākai bikẖam raiṇ gẖaṇerī▫ā.
The soul-bride cannot live without her Husband; the night is so painful for her.

ਨਹ ਨੀਦ ਆਵੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੁਣਿ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਮੇਰੀਆ
नह नीद आवै प्रेमु भावै सुणि बेनंती मेरीआ ॥
Nah nīḏ āvai parem bẖāvai suṇ benanṯī merī▫ā.
Sleep does not come. I am in love with my Beloved. Please, listen to my prayer!

ਬਾਝਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਸਾਰੇ ਏਕਲੜੀ ਕੁਰਲਾਏ
बाझहु पिआरे कोइ न सारे एकलड़ी कुरलाए ॥
Bājẖahu pi▫āre ko▫e na sāre ekalṛī kurlā▫e.
Other than my Beloved, no one cares for me; I cry all alone in the wilderness.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
नानक सा धन मिलै मिलाई बिनु प्रीतम दुखु पाए ॥१॥
Nānak sā ḏẖan milai milā▫ī bin parīṯam ḏukẖ pā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, the bride meets Him when He causes her to meet Him; without her Beloved, she suffers in pain. ||1||

ਪਿਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਅੜੀ ਜੀਉ ਕਵਣੁ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ
पिरि छोडिअड़ी जीउ कवणु मिलावै ॥
Pir cẖẖodi▫aṛī jī▫o kavaṇ milāvai.
She is separated from her Husband Lord - who can unite her with Him?

ਰਸਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ
रसि प्रेमि मिली जीउ सबदि सुहावै ॥
Ras parem milī jī▫o sabaḏ suhāvai.
Tasting His Love, she meets Him, through the Beautiful Word of His Shabad.

ਸਬਦੇ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਦੀਪਕ ਦੇਹ ਉਜਾਰੈ
सबदे सुहावै ता पति पावै दीपक देह उजारै ॥
Sabḏe suhāvai ṯā paṯ pāvai ḏīpak ḏeh ujārai.
Adorned with the Shabad, she obtains her Husband, and her body is illuminated with the lamp of spiritual wisdom.

ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੈ
सुणि सखी सहेली साचि सुहेली साचे के गुण सारै ॥
Suṇ sakẖī sahelī sācẖ suhelī sācẖe ke guṇ sārai.
Listen, O my friends and companions - she who is at peace dwells upon the True Lord and His True Praises.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਤਾ ਪਿਰਿ ਰਾਵੀ ਬਿਗਸੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ
सतिगुरि मेली ता पिरि रावी बिगसी अम्रित बाणी ॥
Saṯgur melī ṯā pir rāvī bigsī amriṯ baṇī.
Meeting the True Guru, she is ravished and enjoyed by her Husband Lord; she blossoms forth with the Ambrosial Word of His Bani.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਜਾ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
नानक सा धन ता पिरु रावे जा तिस कै मनि भाणी ॥२॥
Nānak sā ḏẖan ṯā pir rāve jā ṯis kai man bẖāṇī. ||2||
O Nanak, the Husband Lord enjoys His bride when she is pleasing to His Mind. ||2||

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਣੀ ਨੀਘਰੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਕੂੜਿ ਮੁਠੀ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੇ
माइआ मोहणी नीघरीआ जीउ कूड़ि मुठी कूड़िआरे ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mohṇī nīgẖrī▫ā jī▫o kūṛ muṯẖī kūṛi▫āre.
Fascination with Maya made her homeless; the false are cheated by falsehood.

ਕਿਉ ਖੂਲੈ ਗਲ ਜੇਵੜੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ
किउ खूलै गल जेवड़ीआ जीउ बिनु गुर अति पिआरे ॥
Ki▫o kẖūlai gal jevaṛī▫ā jī▫o bin gur aṯ pi▫āre.
How can the noose around her neck be untied, without the Most Beloved Guru?

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ
हरि प्रीति पिआरे सबदि वीचारे तिस ही का सो होवै ॥
Har parīṯ pi▫āre sabaḏ vīcẖāre ṯis hī kā so hovai.
One who loves the Beloved Lord, and reflects upon the Shabad, belongs to Him.

ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਅਨੇਕ ਨਾਵਣ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਤਰ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ
पुंन दान अनेक नावण किउ अंतर मलु धोवै ॥
Punn ḏān anek nāvaṇ ki▫o anṯar mal ḏẖovai.
How can giving donations to charities and countless cleansing baths wash off the filth within the heart?

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਗਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਪਾਵੈ ਹਠਿ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਬੇਬਾਣੈ
नाम बिना गति कोइ न पावै हठि निग्रहि बेबाणै ॥
Nām binā gaṯ ko▫e na pāvai haṯẖ nigrahi bebāṇai.
Without the Naam, no one attains salvation. Stubborn self-discipline and living in the wilderness are of no use at all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚ ਘਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਿਞਾਪੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
नानक सच घरु सबदि सिञापै दुबिधा महलु कि जाणै ॥३॥
Nānak sacẖ gẖar sabaḏ siñāpai ḏubiḏẖā mahal kė jāṇai. ||3||
O Nanak, the home of Truth is attained through the Shabad. How can the Mansion of His Presence be known through duality? ||3||

ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਚਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੋ
तेरा नामु सचा जीउ सबदु सचा वीचारो ॥
Ŧerā nām sacẖā jī▫o sabaḏ sacẖā vīcẖāro.
True is Your Name, O Dear Lord; True is contemplation of Your Shabad.

ਤੇਰਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਸਚਾ ਜੀਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ
तेरा महलु सचा जीउ नामु सचा वापारो ॥
Ŧerā mahal sacẖā jī▫o nām sacẖā vāpāro.
True is the Mansion of Your Presence, O Dear Lord, and True is trade in Your Name.

ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੋ
नाम का वापारु मीठा भगति लाहा अनदिनो ॥
Nām kā vāpār mīṯẖā bẖagaṯ lāhā anḏino.
Trade in Your Name is very sweet; the devotees earn this profit night and day.

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਝੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਕੋਇ ਸੂਝੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਵਹੁ ਖਿਨੁ ਖਿਨੋ
तिसु बाझु वखरु कोइ न सूझै नामु लेवहु खिनु खिनो ॥
Ŧis bājẖ vakẖar ko▫e na sūjẖai nām levhu kẖin kẖino.
Other than this, I can think of no other merchandise. So chant the Naam each and every moment.

ਪਰਖਿ ਲੇਖਾ ਨਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪਾਇਆ
परखि लेखा नदरि साची करमि पूरै पाइआ ॥
Parakẖ lekẖā naḏar sācẖī karam pūrai pā▫i▫ā.
The account is read; by the Grace of the True Lord and good karma, the Perfect Lord is obtained.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक नामु महा रसु मीठा गुरि पूरै सचु पाइआ ॥४॥२॥
Nānak nām mahā ras mīṯẖā gur pūrai sacẖ pā▫i▫ā. ||4||2||
O Nanak, the Nectar of the Name is so sweet. Through the Perfect True Guru, it is obtained. ||4||2||

ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ਪੂਰਬੀ ਛੰਤ ਮਹਲਾ
रागु गउड़ी पूरबी छंत महला ३
Rāg ga▫oṛī pūrbī cẖẖanṯ mėhlā 3
Raag Gauree Poorbee, Chhant, Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिनामु करता पुरखु गुरप्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯnām karṯā purakẖ gurparsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. By Guru's Grace:

ਸਾ ਧਨ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰੇ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰੇ
सा धन बिनउ करे जीउ हरि के गुण सारे ॥
Sā ḏẖan bin▫o kare jī▫o har ke guṇ sāre.
The soul-bride offers her prayers to her Dear Lord; she dwells upon His Glorious Virtues.

ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਰਹਿ ਸਕੈ ਜੀਉ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ
खिनु पलु रहि न सकै जीउ बिनु हरि पिआरे ॥
Kẖin pal rėh na sakai jī▫o bin har pi▫āre.
She cannot live without her Beloved Lord, for a moment, even for an instant.

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਹਿ ਸਾਕੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ
बिनु हरि पिआरे रहि न साकै गुर बिनु महलु न पाईऐ ॥
Bin har pi▫āre rėh na sākai gur bin mahal na pā▫ī▫ai.
She cannot live without her Beloved Lord; without the Guru, the Mansion of His Presence is not found.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੋਈ ਪਰੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਈਐ
जो गुरु कहै सोई परु कीजै तिसना अगनि बुझाईऐ ॥
Jo gur kahai so▫ī par kījai ṯisnā agan bujẖā▫ī▫ai.
Whatever the Guru says, she should surely do, to extinguish the fire of desire.

ਹਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਕੋਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ
हरि साचा सोई तिसु बिनु अवरु न कोई बिनु सेविऐ सुखु न पाए ॥
Har sācẖā so▫ī ṯis bin avar na ko▫ī bin sevi▫ai sukẖ na pā▫e.
The Lord is True; there is no one except Him. Without serving Him, peace is not found.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੧॥
नानक सा धन मिलै मिलाई जिस नो आपि मिलाए ॥१॥
Nānak sā ḏẖan milai milā▫ī jis no āp milā▫e. ||1||
O Nanak, that soul-bride, whom the Lord Himself unites, is united with Him; He Himself merges with her. ||1||

ਧਨ ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਹੇਲੜੀਏ ਜੀਉ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ
धन रैणि सुहेलड़ीए जीउ हरि सिउ चितु लाए ॥
Ḏẖan raiṇ suhelṛī▫e jī▫o har si▫o cẖiṯ lā▫e.
The life-night of the soul-bride is blessed and joyful, when she focuses her consciousness on her Dear Lord.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਭਾਉ ਕਰੇ ਜੀਉ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ
सतिगुरु सेवे भाउ करे जीउ विचहु आपु गवाए ॥
Saṯgur seve bẖā▫o kare jī▫o vicẖahu āp gavā▫e.
She serves the True Guru with love; she eradicates selfishness from within.

ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਭਾਓ
विचहु आपु गवाए हरि गुण गाए अनदिनु लागा भाओ ॥
vicẖahu āp gavā▫e har guṇ gā▫e an▫ḏin lāgā bẖā▫o.
Eradicating selfishness and conceit from within, and singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, she is in love with the Lord, night and day.

ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਮੇਲੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਓ
सुणि सखी सहेली जीअ की मेली गुर कै सबदि समाओ ॥
Suṇ sakẖī sahelī jī▫a kī melī gur kai sabaḏ samā▫o.
Listen, dear friends and companions of the soul - immerse yourselves in the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
