ਆਪਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੪॥
Āp cẖẖadā▫e cẖẖutī▫ai saṯgur cẖaraṇ samāl. ||4||
If the Lord Himself saves you, then you shall be saved. Dwell upon the Feet of the True Guru. ||4||
|
ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
Man karhalā mere pi▫āri▫ā vicẖ ḏehī joṯ samāl.
O my dear beloved camel-like mind, dwell upon the Divine Light within the body.

ਗੁਰਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਖਾਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਦਇਆਲਿ ॥੫॥
Gur na▫o niḏẖ nām vikẖāli▫ā har ḏāṯ karī ḏa▫i▫āl. ||5||
The Guru has shown me the nine treasures of the Naam. The Merciful Lord has bestowed this gift. ||5||
|
ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਤੂੰ ਚੰਚਲਾ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਛਡਿ ਵਿਕਰਾਲਿ ॥
Man karhalā ṯūʼn cẖancẖlā cẖaṯurā▫ī cẖẖad vikrāl.
O camel-like mind, you are so fickle; give up your cleverness and corruption.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ॥੬॥
Har har nām samāl ṯūʼn har mukaṯ kare anṯ kāl. ||6||
Dwell upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; at the very last moment, the Lord shall liberate you. ||6||
|
ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲਾ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਤੂੰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
Man karhalā vadbẖāgī▫ā ṯūʼn gi▫ān raṯan samāl.
O camel-like mind, you are so very fortunate; dwell upon the jewel of spiritual wisdom.

ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਖੜਗੁ ਹਥਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿਅੜਾ ਜਮਕਾਲਿ ॥੭॥
Gur gi▫ān kẖaṛag hath ḏẖāri▫ā jam māri▫aṛā jamkāl. ||7||
You hold in your hands the sword of the Guru's spiritual wisdom; with this destroyer of death, kill the Messenger of Death. ||7||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭਵਹਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਭਾਲਿ ॥
Anṯar niḏẖān man karhale bẖaram bẖavėh bāhar bẖāl.
The treasure is deep within, O camel-like mind, but you wander around outside in doubt, searching for it.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਲਧੜਾ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੮॥
Gur purakẖ pūrā bẖeti▫ā har sajaṇ laḏẖ▫ṛā nāl. ||8||
Meeting the Perfect Guru, the Primal Being, you shall discover that the Lord, your Best Friend, is with you. ||8||

ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜੇ ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥
Rang raṯ▫ṛe man karhale har rang saḏā samāl.
You are engrossed in pleasures, O camel-like mind; dwell upon the Lord's lasting love instead!

ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੯॥
Har rang kaḏe na uṯrai gur sevā sabaḏ samāl. ||9||
The color of the Lord's Love never fades away; serve the Guru, and dwell upon the Word of the Shabad. ||9||
|
ਹਮ ਪੰਖੀ ਮਨ ਕਰਹਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਕਾਲਿ ॥
Ham pankẖī man karhale har ṯarvar purakẖ akāl.
We are birds, O camel-like mind; the Lord, the Immortal Primal Being, is the tree.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧੦॥੨॥
vadbẖāgī gurmukẖ pā▫i▫ā jan Nānak nām samāl. ||10||2||
The Gurmukhs are very fortunate - they find it. O servant Nanak, dwell upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||2||

ੴ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯnām karṯā purakẖ gur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. By Guru's Grace:

ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਤ ਗੁਮਾਨਾ ॥
Jab ih man mėh karaṯ gumānā.
When this mind is filled with pride,
|
ਤਬ ਇਹੁ ਬਾਵਰੁ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥
Ŧab ih bāvar firaṯ bigānā.
then it wanders around like a madman and a lunatic.
|
ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਹੂਆ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੀਨਾ ॥
Jab ih hū▫ā sagal kī rīnā.
But when it becomes the dust of all,
|
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਰਮਈਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਚੀਨਾ ॥੧॥
Ŧā ṯe rama▫ī▫ā gẖat gẖat cẖīnā. ||1||
then it recognizes the Lord in each and every heart. ||1||
|
ਸਹਜ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਫਲੁ ਮਸਕੀਨੀ ॥
Sahj suhelā fal maskīnī.
The fruit of humility is intuitive peace and pleasure.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਮੋਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Saṯgur apunai mohi ḏān ḏīnī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
My True Guru has given me this gift. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਬ ਕਿਸ ਕਉ ਇਹੁ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਮੰਦਾ ॥
Jab kis ka▫o ih jānas manḏā.
When he believes others to be bad,
|
ਤਬ ਸਗਲੇ ਇਸੁ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਫੰਦਾ ॥
Ŧab sagle is melėh fanḏā.
then everyone lays traps for him.
|
ਮੇਰ ਤੇਰ ਜਬ ਇਨਹਿ ਚੁਕਾਈ ॥
Mer ṯer jab inėh cẖukā▫ī.
But when he stops thinking in terms of 'mine' and 'yours',
|
ਤਾ ਤੇ ਇਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥੨॥
Ŧā ṯe is sang nahī bairā▫ī. ||2||
then no one is angry with him. ||2||
|
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਅਪਨੀ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Jab in apunī apnī ḏẖārī.
When he clings to 'my own, my own',
|
ਤਬ ਇਸ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਮੁਸਕਲੁ ਭਾਰੀ ॥
Ŧab is ka▫o hai muskal bẖārī.
then he is in deep trouble.
|
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
Jab in karṇaihār pacẖẖāṯā.
But when he recognizes the Creator Lord,
|
ਤਬ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
Ŧab is no nāhī kicẖẖ ṯāṯā. ||3||
then he is free of torment. ||3||
|
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਅਪੁਨੋ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਮੋਹਾ ॥
Jab in apuno bāḏẖi▫o mohā.
When he entangles himself in emotional attachment,
|
ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਜਮਿ ਜੋਹਾ ॥
Āvai jā▫e saḏā jam johā.
he comes and goes in reincarnation, under the constant gaze of Death.
|
ਜਬ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਭਰਮਾ ॥
Jab is ṯe sabẖ binse bẖarmā.
But when all his doubts are removed,
|
ਭੇਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ॥੪॥
Bẖeḏ nāhī hai pārbrahmā. ||4||
then there is no difference between him and the Supreme Lord God. ||4||
|
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ਭੇਦਾ ॥
Jab in kicẖẖ kar māne bẖeḏā.
When he perceives differences,
|
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਦੂਖ ਡੰਡ ਅਰੁ ਖੇਦਾ ॥
Ŧab ṯe ḏūkẖ dand ar kẖeḏā.
then he suffers pain, punishment and sorrow.
|
ਜਬ ਇਨਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੀ ਬੂਝਿਆ ॥
Jab in eko ekī būjẖi▫ā.
But when he recognizes the One and Only Lord,
|
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੂਝਿਆ ॥੫॥
Ŧab ṯe is no sabẖ kicẖẖ sūjẖi▫ā. ||5||
he understands everything. ||5||
|
ਜਬ ਇਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਰਥੀ ॥
Jab ih ḏẖāvai mā▫i▫ā arthī.
When he runs around for the sake of Maya and riches,
|
ਨਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵੈ ਨਹ ਤਿਸ ਲਾਥੀ ॥
Nah ṯaripṯāvai nah ṯis lāthī.
he is not satisfied, and his desires are not quenched.
|
ਜਬ ਇਸ ਤੇ ਇਹੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਜਉਲਾ ॥
Jab is ṯe ih ho▫i▫o ja▫ulā.
But when he runs away from Maya,
|
ਪੀਛੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਚਲੀ ਉਠਿ ਕਉਲਾ ॥੬॥
Pīcẖẖai lāg cẖalī uṯẖ ka▫ulā. ||6||
then the Goddess of Wealth gets up and follows him. ||6||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਓ ॥
Kar kirpā ja▫o saṯgur mili▫o.
When, by His Grace, the True Guru is met,
|
ਮਨ ਮੰਦਰ ਮਹਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਜਲਿਓ ॥
Man manḏar mėh ḏīpak jali▫o.
the lamp is lit within the temple of the mind.
|
ਜੀਤ ਹਾਰ ਕੀ ਸੋਝੀ ਕਰੀ ॥
Jīṯ hār kī sojẖī karī.
When he realizes what victory and defeat really are,
|
ਤਉ ਇਸੁ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਰੀ ॥੭॥
Ŧa▫o is gẖar kī kīmaṯ parī. ||7||
then he comes to appreciate the true value of his own home. ||7||
