ਜਿਨਾ ਰਾਸਿ ਨ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
जिना रासि न सचु है किउ तिना सुखु होइ ॥
Jinā rās na sacẖ hai ki▫o ṯinā sukẖ ho▫e.
Who have not the capital of righteousness, how shall they find peace?

ਖੋਟੈ ਵਣਜਿ ਵਣੰਜਿਐ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਖੋਟਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
खोटै वणजि वणंजिऐ मनु तनु खोटा होइ ॥
Kẖotai vaṇaj vaṇanji▫ai man ṯan kẖotā ho▫e.
By dealing in false trade, soul and body become false.

ਫਾਹੀ ਫਾਥੇ ਮਿਰਗ ਜਿਉ ਦੂਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਨਿਤ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥
फाही फाथे मिरग जिउ दूखु घणो नित रोइ ॥२॥
Fāhī fāthe mirag ji▫o ḏūkẖ gẖaṇo niṯ ro▫e. ||2||
Like the deer ensnared is a snare, they come to great grief and ever bewail.

ਖੋਟੇ ਪੋਤੈ ਨਾ ਪਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
खोटे पोतै ना पवहि तिन हरि गुर दरसु न होइ ॥
Kẖote poṯai nā pavėh ṯin har gur ḏaras na ho▫e.
The counterfeit are not consigned to the divine treasury. They obtain not the sight of the great God.

ਖੋਟੇ ਜਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਖੋਟਿ ਨ ਸੀਝਸਿ ਕੋਇ ॥
खोटे जाति न पति है खोटि न सीझसि कोइ ॥
Kẖote jāṯ na paṯ hai kẖot na sījẖas ko▫e.
The false one has no caste and honour. No one succeeds through falsehood.

ਖੋਟੇ ਖੋਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਆਇ ਗਇਆ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥੩॥
खोटे खोटु कमावणा आइ गइआ पति खोइ ॥३॥
Kẖote kẖot kamāvaṇā ā▫e ga▫i▫ā paṯ kẖo▫e. ||3||
The untrue mortal practises untruth and loses his honour in transmigration.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨੁ ਸਮਝਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹ ॥
नानक मनु समझाईऐ गुर कै सबदि सालाह ॥
Nānak man samjā▫ī▫ai gur kai sabaḏ sālāh.
O Nanak! By Guru's Instruction and counsel instruct thy mind.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ਭਾਰੁ ਨ ਭਰਮੁ ਤਿਨਾਹ ॥
राम नाम रंगि रतिआ भारु न भरमु तिनाह ॥
Rām nām rang raṯi▫ā bẖār na bẖaram ṯināh.
Those, who are imbued with the love of the Name of Pervading Lord, have no load of sin and no scepticism
|
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਅਗਲਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹ ॥੪॥੨੩॥
हरि जपि लाहा अगला निरभउ हरि मन माह ॥४॥२३॥
Har jap lāhā aglā nirbẖa▫o har man māh. ||4||23||
Those, in whose heart God abides, are dauntless and by meditating on God, they earn a great gain.

ਧਨੁ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਅਰੁ ਫੁਲੜਾ ਨਾਠੀਅੜੇ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ॥
धनु जोबनु अरु फुलड़ा नाठीअड़े दिन चारि ॥
Ḏẖan joban ar fulṛā nāṯẖī▫aṛe ḏin cẖār.
Wealth, youth, and flowers are guests only for four days.
|
ਪਬਣਿ ਕੇਰੇ ਪਤ ਜਿਉ ਢਲਿ ਢੁਲਿ ਜੁੰਮਣਹਾਰ ॥੧॥
पबणि केरे पत जिउ ढलि ढुलि जुमणहार ॥१॥
Pabaṇ kere paṯ ji▫o dẖal dẖul jummaṇhār. ||1||
Like the leaves or water lily, they whither, fade (and finally) die away.

ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣਿ ਲੈ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਨਉ ਹੁਲਾ ॥
रंगु माणि लै पिआरिआ जा जोबनु नउ हुला ॥
Rang māṇ lai pi▫āri▫ā jā joban na▫o hulā.
Enjoy Lord's love, O dear one! so long as thou hast buoyant fresh youth.

ਦਿਨ ਥੋੜੜੇ ਥਕੇ ਭਇਆ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਚੋਲਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दिन थोड़ड़े थके भइआ पुराणा चोला ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏin thoṛ▫ṛe thake bẖa▫i▫ā purāṇā cẖolā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Few are thine days, thou hast grown weary and the body vesture has grown old. Pause.
|
ਸਜਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਰੰਗੁਲੇ ਜਾਇ ਸੁਤੇ ਜੀਰਾਣਿ ॥
सजण मेरे रंगुले जाइ सुते जीराणि ॥
Sajaṇ mere rangule jā▫e suṯe jārāṇ.
My playful friend has gone to sleep in the graveyard.

ਹੰ ਭੀ ਵੰਞਾ ਡੁਮਣੀ ਰੋਵਾ ਝੀਣੀ ਬਾਣਿ ॥੨॥
हं भी वंञा डुमणी रोवा झीणी बाणि ॥२॥
Haʼn bẖī vañā dumṇī rovā jẖīṇī bāṇ. ||2||
I, double minded, too shall depart and weep with a feeble voice.
|
ਕੀ ਨ ਸੁਣੇਹੀ ਗੋਰੀਏ ਆਪਣ ਕੰਨੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
की न सुणेही गोरीए आपण कंनी सोइ ॥
Kī na suṇehī gorī▫e āpaṇ kannī so▫e.
Within thine ears, O my fair coloured soul! why thou hearest not this fact?

ਲਗੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਨ ਪੇਈਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
लगी आवहि साहुरै नित न पेईआ होइ ॥३॥
Lagī āvahi sāhurai niṯ na pe▫ī▫ā ho▫e. ||3||
Thou shalt go to thy in laws and cannot stay with thy parents for ever.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਤੀ ਪੇਈਐ ਜਾਣੁ ਵਿਰਤੀ ਸੰਨਿ ॥
नानक सुती पेईऐ जाणु विरती संनि ॥
Nānak suṯī pe▫ī▫ai jāṇ virṯī sann.
O Nanak, know that she, who is asleep in her parent's home, is burgled in broad day light.

ਗੁਣਾ ਗਵਾਈ ਗੰਠੜੀ ਅਵਗਣ ਚਲੀ ਬੰਨਿ ॥੪॥੨੪॥
गुणा गवाई गंठड़ी अवगण चली बंनि ॥४॥२४॥
Guṇā gavā▫ī ganṯẖ▫ṛī avgaṇ cẖalī bann. ||4||24||
She is departing after having lost her bundle of merits and has tied one of demerits.

ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਘਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ੨ ॥
सिरीरागु महला १ घरु दूजा २ ॥
Sirīrāg mėhlā 1 gẖar ḏūjā 2.

ਆਪੇ ਰਸੀਆ ਆਪਿ ਰਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
आपे रसीआ आपि रसु आपे रावणहारु ॥
Āpe rasī▫ā āp ras āpe ravaṇhār.
Lord Himself is the Relisher, Himself the Relish, and Himself the Enjoyer.

ਆਪੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਚੋਲੜਾ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਜ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
आपे होवै चोलड़ा आपे सेज भतारु ॥१॥
Āpe hovai cẖolṛā āpe sej bẖaṯār. ||1||
He Himself is the Vesture (bride) and Himself the Couch and Bridegroom.
|
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
रंगि रता मेरा साहिबु रवि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Rang raṯā merā sāhib rav rahi▫ā bẖarpūr. ||1|| rahā▫o.
My Master is dyed with love and is fully pervading every where. Pause.

ਆਪੇ ਮਾਛੀ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਾਲੁ ॥
आपे माछी मछुली आपे पाणी जालु ॥
Āpe mācẖẖī macẖẖulī āpe pāṇī jāl.
He Himself is the fisherman and the fish and Himself the water and the net.
|
ਆਪੇ ਜਾਲ ਮਣਕੜਾ ਆਪੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਲਾਲੁ ॥੨॥
आपे जाल मणकड़ा आपे अंदरि लालु ॥२॥
Āpe jāl maṇkaṛā āpe anḏar lāl. ||2||
He Himself is the metal ball of the net and Himself the bait within.
|
ਆਪੇ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਰੰਗੁਲਾ ਸਖੀਏ ਮੇਰਾ ਲਾਲੁ ॥
आपे बहु बिधि रंगुला सखीए मेरा लालु ॥
Āpe baho biḏẖ rangulā sakẖī▫e merā lāl.
My maid! my Beloved is in every way playful.
|
ਨਿਤ ਰਵੈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਹਾਲੁ ॥੩॥
नित रवै सोहागणी देखु हमारा हालु ॥३॥
Niṯ ravai sohāgaṇī ḏekẖ hamārā hāl. ||3||
He ever enjoys the virtuous wife. Behold my plight (away from Him.)

ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਤੂ ਸਰਵਰੁ ਤੂ ਹੰਸੁ ॥
प्रणवै नानकु बेनती तू सरवरु तू हंसु ॥
Paraṇvai Nānak benṯī ṯū sarvar ṯū hans.
Prays Nanak, listen to my supplication. Thou art the tank and Thou the swan.

ਕਉਲੁ ਤੂ ਹੈ ਕਵੀਆ ਤੂ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸੁ ॥੪॥੨੫॥
कउलु तू है कवीआ तू है आपे वेखि विगसु ॥४॥२५॥
Ka▫ul ṯū hai kavī▫ā ṯū hai āpe vekẖ vigas. ||4||25||
Thou art the lotus and Thou the water-lily. Thou Thyself art pleased on beholding (them).

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਧਰਤੀ ਬੀਜੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਰੋ ਸਲਿਲ ਆਪਾਉ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣੀ ॥
इहु तनु धरती बीजु करमा करो सलिल आपाउ सारिंगपाणी ॥
Ih ṯan ḏẖarṯī bīj karmā karo salil āpā▫o sāringpāṇī.
Make this body the field, good actions the seed, and irrigate it with the water of the Name of God, the holder of earth in his hands.

ਮਨੁ ਕਿਰਸਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਜੰਮਾਇ ਲੈ ਇਉ ਪਾਵਸਿ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੧॥
मनु किरसाणु हरि रिदै जमाइ लै इउ पावसि पदु निरबाणी ॥१॥
Man kirsāṇ har riḏai jammā▫e lai i▫o pāvas paḏ nirbāṇī. ||1||
Make thy soul the cultivator, God will germinate in thy heat and thou shalt, thus, obtain the dignity of emancipation.

ਕਾਹੇ ਗਰਬਸਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
काहे गरबसि मूड़े माइआ ॥
Kāhe garbas mūṛe mā▫i▫ā.
O Fool! why takest thou pride on wealth?
|
ਪਿਤ ਸੁਤੋ ਸਗਲ ਕਾਲਤ੍ਰ ਮਾਤਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੋਹਿ ਨ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਖਾਇਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पित सुतो सगल कालत्र माता तेरे होहि न अंति सखाइआ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Piṯ suṯo sagal kālṯar māṯā ṯere hohi na anṯ sakẖā▫i▫ā. Rahā▫o.
Father, sons, wife, mother and all other (relations) become not thy helpers in the end.
|
ਬਿਖੈ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਦੁਸਟ ਕਿਰਖਾ ਕਰੇ ਇਨ ਤਜਿ ਆਤਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
बिखै बिकार दुसट किरखा करे इन तजि आतमै होइ धिआई ॥
Bikẖai bikār ḏusat kirkẖā kare in ṯaj āṯmai ho▫e ḏẖi▫ā▫ī.
Weed out evil wickedness and sins. Leaving these and becoming single-minded, meditate (on the Lord).

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਹੋਹਿ ਜਬ ਰਾਖੇ ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਮਧੁ ਆਸ੍ਰਮਾਈ ॥੨॥
जपु तपु संजमु होहि जब राखे कमलु बिगसै मधु आस्रमाई ॥२॥
Jap ṯap sanjam hohi jab rākẖe kamal bigsai maḏẖ āsarmā▫ī. ||2||
When Lord's meditation, arduous service and control of evil passions become guides, then does the heart lotus bloom and honey trickles.

ਬੀਸ ਸਪਤਾਹਰੋ ਬਾਸਰੋ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਤੀਨਿ ਖੋੜਾ ਨਿਤ ਕਾਲੁ ਸਾਰੈ ॥
बीस सपताहरो बासरो संग्रहै तीनि खोड़ा नित कालु सारै ॥
Bīs sapṯāhro bāsro sangrahai ṯīn kẖoṛā niṯ kāl sārai.
Amass (control) thy body residing place of twenty seven elements, and ever remember death in the three caves (stage) of life.

ਦਸ ਅਠਾਰ ਮੈ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੋ ਚੀਨੈ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਇਵ ਏਕੁ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੩॥੨੬॥
दस अठार मै अपर्मपरो चीनै कहै नानकु इव एकु तारै ॥३॥२६॥
Ḏas aṯẖār mai aprampro cẖīnai kahai Nānak iv ek ṯārai. ||3||26||
Behold the limitless Lord in ten directions and eighteen (loads of vegetation). Says Nanak, like this the One Master shall save thee.4
