ਰੂਪਵੰਤੁ ਸੋ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
Rūpvanṯ so cẖaṯur si▫āṇā.
They alone are handsome, clever and wise,
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ॥੨॥
Jin jan māni▫ā parabẖ kā bẖāṇā. ||2||
who surrender to the Will of God. ||2||
|
ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
Jag mėh ā▫i▫ā so parvāṇ.
Blessed is their coming into this world,
|
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅਪਣਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
Gẖat gẖat apṇā su▫āmī jāṇ. ||3||
if they recognize their Lord and Master in each and every heart. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਾਗ ॥
Kaho Nānak jā ke pūran bẖāg.
Says Nanak, their good fortune is perfect,
|
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗ ॥੪॥੯੦॥੧੫੯॥
Har cẖarṇī ṯā kā man lāg. ||4||90||159||
if they enshrine the Lord's Feet within their minds. ||4||90||159||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ਸਿਉ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Har ke ḏās si▫o sākaṯ nahī sang.
The Lord's servant does not associate with the faithless cynic.
|
ਓਹੁ ਬਿਖਈ ਓਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Oh bikẖ▫ī os rām ko rang. ||1|| rahā▫o.
One is in the clutches of vice, while the other is in love with the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਮਨ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਜੈਸੇ ਤੁਰੀ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ ॥
Man asvār jaise ṯurī sīgārī.
It would be like an imaginary rider on a decorated horse,
|
ਜਿਉ ਕਾਪੁਰਖੁ ਪੁਚਾਰੈ ਨਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
Ji▫o kāpurakẖ pucẖārai nārī. ||1||
or a eunuch caressing a woman. ||1||
|
ਬੈਲ ਕਉ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾ ਪਾਇ ਦੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
Bail ka▫o neṯarā pā▫e ḏuhāvai.
It would be like tying up an ox and trying to milk it,
|
ਗਊ ਚਰਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
Ga▫ū cẖar singẖ pācẖẖai pāvai. ||2||
or riding a cow to chase a tiger. ||2||
|
ਗਾਡਰ ਲੇ ਕਾਮਧੇਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜੀ ॥
Gādar le kāmḏẖen kar pūjī.
It would be like taking a sheep and worshipping it as the Elysian cow,
|
ਸਉਦੇ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ॥੩॥
Sa▫uḏe ka▫o ḏẖāvai bin pūnjī. ||3||
the giver of all blessings; it would be like going out shopping without any money. ||3||
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਚੀਤ ॥
Nānak rām nām jap cẖīṯ.
O Nanak, consciously meditate on the Lord's Name.
|
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਾ ਮੀਤ ॥੪॥੯੧॥੧੬੦॥
Simar su▫āmī har sā mīṯ. ||4||91||160||
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord Master, your Best Friend. ||4||91||160||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਧੀਰ ॥
Sā maṯ nirmal kahī▫aṯ ḏẖīr.
Pure and steady is that intellect,
|
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਪੀਵਤ ਬੀਰ ॥੧॥
Rām rasā▫iṇ pīvaṯ bīr. ||1||
which drinks in the Lord's sublime essence. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਕਰਿ ਓਟ ॥
Har ke cẖaraṇ hirḏai kar ot.
Keep the Support of the Lord's Feet in your heart,
|
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਹੋਵਤ ਛੋਟ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Janam maraṇ ṯe hovaṯ cẖẖot. ||1|| rahā▫o.
and you shall be saved from the cycle of birth and death. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਪਜੈ ਨ ਪਾਪੁ ॥
So ṯan nirmal jiṯ upjai na pāp.
Pure is that body, in which sin does not arise.
|
ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੨॥
Rām rang nirmal parṯāp. ||2||
In the Love of the Lord is pure glory. ||2||
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥
Sāḏẖsang mit jāṯ bikār.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, corruption is eradicated.
|
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਏਹੋ ਉਪਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ eho upkār. ||3||
This is the greatest blessing of all. ||3||
|
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
Parem bẖagaṯ rāṯe gopāl.
Imbued with loving devotional worship of the Sustainer of the Universe,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਚੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲ ॥੪॥੯੨॥੧੬੧॥
Nānak jācẖai sāḏẖ ravāl. ||4||92||161||
Nanak asks for the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||92||161||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਐਸੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Aisī parīṯ govinḏ si▫o lāgī.
Such is my love for the Lord of the Universe;
|
ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mel la▫e pūran vadbẖāgī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
through perfect good destiny, I have been united with Him. ||1||Pause||
|
ਭਰਤਾ ਪੇਖਿ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
Bẖarṯā pekẖ bigsai ji▫o nārī.
As the wife is delighted upon beholding her husband,
|
ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
Ŧi▫o har jan jīvai nām cẖiṯārī. ||1||
so does the Lord's humble servant live by chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||
|
ਪੂਤ ਪੇਖਿ ਜਿਉ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
Pūṯ pekẖ ji▫o jīvaṯ māṯā.
As the mother is rejuvenated upon seeing her son,
|
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੨॥
Oṯ poṯ jan har si▫o rāṯā. ||2||
so is the Lord's humble servant imbued with Him, through and through. ||2||
|
ਲੋਭੀ ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰੈ ਪੇਖਿ ਧਨਾ ॥
Lobẖī anaḏ karai pekẖ ḏẖanā.
As the greedy man rejoices upon beholding his wealth,
|
ਜਨ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਮਨਾ ॥੩॥
Jan cẖaran kamal si▫o lāgo manā. ||3||
so is the mind of the Lord's humble servant attached to His Lotus Feet. ||3||
|
ਬਿਸਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਦਾਤਾਰ ॥
Bisar nahī ik ṯil ḏāṯār.
May I never forget You, for even an instant, O Great Giver!
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥੪॥੯੩॥੧੬੨॥
Nānak ke parabẖ parān aḏẖār. ||4||93||162||
Nanak's God is the Support of his breath of life. ||4||93||162||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਗੀਧੇ ॥
Rām rasā▫iṇ jo jan gīḏẖe.
Those humble beings who are accustomed to the Lord's sublime essence,
|
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤੀ ਬੀਧੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Cẖaran kamal parem bẖagṯī bīḏẖe. ||1|| rahā▫o.
are pierced through with loving devotional worship of the Lord's Lotus Feet. ||1||Pause||
|
ਆਨ ਰਸਾ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
Ān rasā ḏīsėh sabẖ cẖẖār.
All other pleasures look like ashes;
|
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੧॥
Nām binā nihfal sansār. ||1||
without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the world is fruitless. ||1||
|
ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੇ ਆਪਿ ॥
Anḏẖ kūp ṯe kādẖe āp.
He Himself rescues us from the deep dark well.
|
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਅਚਰਜ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥੨॥
Guṇ govinḏ acẖraj parṯāp. ||2||
Wondrous and Glorious are the Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
|
ਵਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਣਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
vaṇ ṯariṇ ṯaribẖavaṇ pūran gopāl.
In the woods and meadows, and throughout the three worlds, the Sustainer of the Universe is pervading.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਸਾਰੁ ਜੀਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੩॥
Barahm pasār jī▫a sang ḏa▫i▫āl. ||3||
The Expansive Lord God is Merciful to all beings. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਕਥਨੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
Kaho Nānak sā kathnī sār.
Says Nanak, that speech alone is excellent,
|
ਮਾਨਿ ਲੇਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਜਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੯੪॥੧੬੩॥
Mān leṯ jis sirjanhār. ||4||94||163||
which is approved by the Creator Lord. ||4||94||163||

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 5.
Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਨਿਤਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਰਾਮ ਸਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
Niṯparaṯ nāvaṇ rām sar kījai.
Every day, take your bath in the Sacred Pool of the Lord.
|
ਝੋਲਿ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jẖol mahā ras har amriṯ pījai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Mix and drink in the most delicious, sublime Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਉਦਕੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਨਾਮ ॥
Nirmal uḏak govinḏ kā nām.
The water of the Name of the Lord of the Universe is immaculate and pure.
|
ਮਜਨੁ ਕਰਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥
Majan karaṯ pūran sabẖ kām. ||1||
Take your cleansing bath in it, and all your affairs shall be resolved. ||1||
