ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਕਰੈ ਦੁਹਕਰਮ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
Karai ḏuhkaram ḏikẖāvai hor.
They do their evil deeds, and pretend otherwise;
|
ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਰੁ ॥੧॥
Rām kī ḏargėh bāḏẖā cẖor. ||1||
but in the Court of the Lord, they shall be bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੈ ਸੋਈ ਰਾਮਾਣਾ ॥
Rām ramai so▫ī rāmāṇā.
Those who remember the Lord belong to the Lord.
|
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jal thal mahī▫al ek samāṇā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The One Lord is contained in the water, the land and the sky. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥
Anṯar bikẖ mukẖ amriṯ suṇāvai.
Their inner beings are filled with poison, and yet with their mouths, they preach words of Ambrosial Nectar.

ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
Jam pur bāḏẖā cẖotā kẖāvai. ||2||
Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they are punished and beaten. ||2||
|
ਅਨਿਕ ਪੜਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Anik paṛ▫ḏe mėh kamāvai vikār.
Hiding behind many screens, they commit acts of corruption,
|
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੩॥
Kẖin mėh pargat hohi sansār. ||3||
but in an instant, they are revealed to all the world. ||3||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Anṯar sācẖ nām ras rāṯā.
Those whose inner beings are true, who are attuned to the ambrosial essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord -
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੭੧॥੧੪੦॥
Nānak ṯis kirpāl biḏẖāṯā. ||4||71||140||
O Nanak, the Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is merciful to them. ||4||71||140||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਰਾਮ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਦੇ ਉਤਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Rām rang kaḏe uṯar na jā▫e.
The Lord's Love shall never leave or depart.
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥੧॥
Gur pūrā jis ḏe▫e bujẖā▫e. ||1||
They alone understand, unto whom the Perfect Guru gives it. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥
Har rang rāṯā so man sācẖā.
One whose mind is attuned to the Lord's Love is true.
|
ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Lāl rang pūran purakẖ biḏẖāṯā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Love of the Beloved, the Architect of Destiny, is perfect. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਸਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥
Sanṯėh sang bais gun gā▫e.
Sitting in the Society of the Saints, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
|
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Ŧā kā rang na uṯrai jā▫e. ||2||
The color of His Love shall never fade away. ||2||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Bin har simran sukẖ nahī pā▫i▫ā.
Without meditating in remembrance on the Lord, peace is not found.
|
ਆਨ ਰੰਗ ਫੀਕੇ ਸਭ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Ān rang fīke sabẖ mā▫i▫ā. ||3||
All the other loves and tastes of Maya are bland and insipid. ||3||
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਰੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
Gur range se bẖa▫e nihāl.
Those who are imbued with love by the Guru become happy.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਦਇਆਲ ॥੪॥੭੨॥੧੪੧॥
Kaho Nānak gur bẖa▫e hai ḏa▫i▫āl. ||4||72||141||
Says Nanak, the Guru has become merciful to them. ||4||72||141||

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਨਾਸੇ ॥
Simraṯ su▫āmī kilvikẖ nāse.
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord Master, sinful mistakes are erased,
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਿਵਾਸੇ ॥੧॥
Sūkẖ sahj ānanḏ nivāse. ||1||
and one comes to abide in peace, celestial joy and bliss. ||1||
|
ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਭਰੋਸਾ ॥
Rām janā ka▫o rām bẖarosā.
The Lord's humble servants place their faith in the Lord.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਸਭੁ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Nām japaṯ sabẖ miti▫o anḏesā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all anxieties are dispelled. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਛੁ ਭਉ ਨ ਭਰਾਤੀ ॥
Sāḏẖsang kacẖẖ bẖa▫o na bẖarāṯī.
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, there is no fear or doubt.
|
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
Guṇ gopāl gā▫ī▫ah ḏin rāṯī. ||2||
The Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung there, day and night. ||2||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੰਧਨ ਛੋਟ ॥
Kar kirpā parabẖ banḏẖan cẖẖot.
Granting His Grace, God has released me from bondage.
|
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਕੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਓਟ ॥੩॥
Cẖaraṇ kamal kī ḏīnī ot. ||3||
He has given me the Support of His Lotus Feet. ||3||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਭਈ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ॥
Kaho Nānak man bẖa▫ī parṯīṯ.
Says Nanak, faith comes into the mind of His servant,
|
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਸੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੪॥੭੩॥੧੪੨॥
Nirmal jas pīvėh jan nīṯ. ||4||73||142||
who continually drinks in the Immaculate Praises of the Lord. ||4||73||142||

|
ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
Har cẖarṇī jā kā man lāgā.
Those who keep their minds attached to the Lord's Feet -
|
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੧॥
Ḏūkẖ ḏaraḏ bẖaram ṯā kā bẖāgā. ||1||
pain, suffering and doubt run away from them. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਧਨ ਕੋ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Har ḏẖan ko vāpārī pūrā.
Those who deal in the Lord's wealth are perfect.
|
ਜਿਸਹਿ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੂਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jisahi nivāje so jan sūrā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Those who are honored by the Lord are the true spiritual heroes. ||1||Pause||
|
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
Jā ka▫o bẖa▫e kirpāl gusā▫ī.
Those humble beings, unto whom the Lord of the Universe shows mercy,
|
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥
Se jan lāge gur kī pā▫ī. ||2||
fall at the Guru's Feet. ||2||
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਆਨੰਦਾ ॥
Sūkẖ sahj sāʼnṯ ānanḏā.
They are blessed with peace, celestial bliss, tranquility and ecstasy;
|
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੩॥
Jap jap jīve parmānanḏā. ||3||
chanting and meditating, they live in supreme bliss. ||3||
|
ਨਾਮ ਰਾਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਾਟੀ ॥
Nām rās sāḏẖ sang kẖātī.
In the Saadh Sangat, I have earned the wealth of the Naam.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਦਾ ਕਾਟੀ ॥੪॥੭੪॥੧੪੩॥
Kaho Nānak parabẖ apḏā kātī. ||4||74||143||
Says Nanak, God has relieved my pain. ||4||74||143||

|
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ॥
Har simraṯ sabẖ mitėh kales.
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, all suffering is eradicated.
|
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥੧॥
Cẖaraṇ kamal man mėh parves. ||1||
The Lord's Lotus Feet are enshrined within my mind. ||1||
|
ਉਚਰਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਖ ਬਾਰੀ ॥
Ucẖrahu rām nām lakẖ bārī.
Chant the Lord's Name, hundreds of thousands of times, O my dear,
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Amriṯ ras pīvhu parabẖ pi▫ārī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
and drink deeply of the Ambrosial Essence of God. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਰਸ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦਾ ॥
Sūkẖ sahj ras mahā ananḏā.
Peace, celestial bliss, pleasures and the greatest ecstasy are obtained;
|
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥੨॥
Jap jap jīve parmānanḏā. ||2||
chanting and meditating, you shall live in supreme bliss. ||2||
|
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮਦ ਖੋਏ ॥
Kām kroḏẖ lobẖ maḏ kẖo▫e.
Sexual desire, anger, greed and ego are eradicated;
|
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਸਭ ਧੋਏ ॥੩॥
Sāḏẖ kai sang kilbikẖ sabẖ ḏẖo▫e. ||3||
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all sinful mistakes are washed away. ||3||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
Kar kirpā parabẖ ḏīn ḏa▫i▫ālā.
Grant Your Grace, O God, O Merciful to the meek.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਜੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭੫॥੧੪੪॥
Nānak ḏījai sāḏẖ ravālā. ||4||75||144||
Please bless Nanak with the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||75||144||
