ਬਿਆਪਤ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ harakẖ sog bisthār.
It torments us with the expression of pleasure and pain.

ਬਿਆਪਤ ਸੁਰਗ ਨਰਕ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ surag narak avṯār.
It torments us through incarnations in heaven and hell.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਧਨ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਪੇਖਿ ਸੋਭਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ ḏẖan nirḏẖan pekẖ sobẖā.
It is seen to afflict the rich, the poor and the glorious.
|
ਮੂਲੁ ਬਿਆਧੀ ਬਿਆਪਸਿ ਲੋਭਾ ॥੧॥
Mūl bi▫āḏẖī bi▫āpas lobẖā. ||1||
The source of this illness which torments us is greed. ||1||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰੀ ॥
Mā▫i▫ā bi▫āpaṯ baho parkārī.
Maya torments us in so many ways.
|
ਸੰਤ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sanṯ jīvėh parabẖ ot ṯumārī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
But the Saints live under Your Protection, God. ||1||Pause||

ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ ahaʼn▫buḏẖ kā māṯā.
It torments us through intoxication with intellectual pride.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ puṯar kalṯar sang rāṯā.
It torments us through the love of children and spouse.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਹਸਤਿ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਰੁ ਬਸਤਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ hasaṯ gẖoṛe ar basṯā.
It torments us through elephants, horses and beautiful clothes.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਰੂਪ ਜੋਬਨ ਮਦ ਮਸਤਾ ॥੨॥
Bi▫āpaṯ rūp joban maḏ masṯā. ||2||
It torments us through the intoxication of wine and the beauty of youth. ||2||
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਭੂਮਿ ਰੰਕ ਅਰੁ ਰੰਗਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ bẖūm rank ar rangā.
It torments landlords, paupers and lovers of pleasure.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੰਗਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ gīṯ nāḏ suṇ sangā.
It torments us through the sweet sounds of music and parties.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਸੇਜ ਮਹਲ ਸੀਗਾਰ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ sej mahal sīgār.
It torments us through beautiful beds, palaces and decorations.
|
ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਅੰਧਿਆਰ ॥੩॥
Pancẖ ḏūṯ bi▫āpaṯ anḏẖi▫ār. ||3||
It torments us through the darkness of the five evil passions. ||3||
|
ਬਿਆਪਤ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਹਉ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ karam karai ha▫o fāsā.
It torments those who act, entangled in ego.
|
ਬਿਆਪਤਿ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਉਦਾਸਾ ॥
Bi▫āpaṯ girsaṯ bi▫āpaṯ uḏāsā.
It torments us through household affairs, and it torments us in renunciation.
|
ਆਚਾਰ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਇਹ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
Ācẖār bi▫uhār bi▫āpaṯ ih jāṯ.
It torments us through character, lifestyle and social status.
|
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਤ ॥੪॥
Sabẖ kicẖẖ bi▫āpaṯ bin har rang rāṯ. ||4||
It torments us through everything, except for those who are imbued with the Love of the Lord. ||4||
|
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ ॥
Sanṯan ke banḏẖan kāte har rā▫e.
The Sovereign Lord King has cut away the bonds of His Saints.
|
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਮਾਇ ॥
Ŧā ka▫o kahā bi▫āpai mā▫e.
How can Maya torment them?
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਾਈ ॥
Kaho Nānak jin ḏẖūr sanṯ pā▫ī.
Says Nanak, who have obtained the dust of the feet of the Saints,
|
ਤਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮਾਈ ॥੫॥੧੯॥੮੮॥
Ŧā kai nikat na āvai mā▫ī. ||5||19||88||
Maya does not draw near them. ||5||19||88||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 5.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:

ਨੈਨਹੁ ਨੀਦ ਪਰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥
Nainhu nīḏ par ḏarisat vikār.
The eyes are asleep in corruption, gazing upon the beauty of another.
|
ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਸੋਏ ਸੁਣਿ ਨਿੰਦ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥
Sarvaṇ so▫e suṇ ninḏ vīcẖār.
The ears are asleep, listening to slanderous stories.
|
ਰਸਨਾ ਸੋਈ ਲੋਭਿ ਮੀਠੈ ਸਾਦਿ ॥
Rasnā so▫ī lobẖ mīṯẖai sāḏ.
The tongue is asleep, in its desire for sweet flavors.
|
ਮਨੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਸਮਾਦਿ ॥੧॥
Man so▫i▫ā mā▫i▫ā bismāḏ. ||1||
The mind is asleep, fascinated by Maya. ||1||
|
ਇਸੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਗਤੁ ਰਹੈ ॥
Is garih mėh ko▫ī jāgaṯ rahai.
Those who remain awake in this house are very rare;
|
ਸਾਬਤੁ ਵਸਤੁ ਓਹੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sābaṯ vasaṯ oh apnī lahai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
by doing so, they receive the whole thing. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਗਲ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਅਪਨੈ ਰਸ ਮਾਤੀ ॥
Sagal sahelī apnai ras māṯī.
All of my companions are intoxicated with their sensory pleasures;
|
ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਤੀ ॥
Garih apune kī kẖabar na jāṯī.
they do not know how to guard their own home.
|
ਮੁਸਨਹਾਰ ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ॥
Musanhār pancẖ batvāre.
The five thieves have plundered them;
|
ਸੂਨੇ ਨਗਰਿ ਪਰੇ ਠਗਹਾਰੇ ॥੨॥
Sūne nagar pare ṯẖag▫hāre. ||2||
the thugs descend upon the unguarded village. ||2||
|
ਉਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਬਾਪੁ ਨ ਮਾਈ ॥
Un ṯe rākẖai bāp na mā▫ī.
Our mothers and fathers cannot save us from them;
|
ਉਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਮੀਤੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
Un ṯe rākẖai mīṯ na bẖā▫ī.
friends and brothers cannot protect us from them -
|
ਦਰਬਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਾ ਓਇ ਰਹਤੇ ॥
Ḏarab si▫āṇap nā o▫e rahṯe.
they cannot be restrained by wealth or cleverness.
|
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਓਇ ਦੁਸਟ ਵਸਿ ਹੋਤੇ ॥੩॥
Sāḏẖsang o▫e ḏusat vas hoṯe. ||3||
Only through the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, can those villains be brought under control. ||3||
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਾਰਿੰਗਪਾਣਿ ॥
Kar kirpā mohi sāringpāṇ.
Have Mercy upon me, O Lord, Sustainer of the world.
|
ਸੰਤਨ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
Sanṯan ḏẖūr sarab niḏẖān.
The dust of the feet of the Saints is all the treasure I need.
|
ਸਾਬਤੁ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Sābaṯ pūnjī saṯgur sang.
In the Company of the True Guru, one's investment remains intact.
|
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੪॥
Nānak jāgai pārbarahm kai rang. ||4||
Nanak is awake to the Love of the Supreme Lord. ||4||
|
ਸੋ ਜਾਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ॥
So jāgai jis parabẖ kirpāl.
He alone is awake, unto whom God shows His Mercy.
|
ਇਹ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨੦॥੮੯॥
Ih pūnjī sābaṯ ḏẖan māl. ||1|| rahā▫o ḏūjā. ||20||89||
This investment, wealth and property shall remain intact. ||1||Second. Pause||20||89||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 5.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Fifth Mehl:
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਖਾਨ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ॥
Jā kai vas kẖān sulṯān.
Kings and emperors are under His Power.
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨ ॥
Jā kai vas hai sagal jahān.
The whole world is under His Power.
|
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Jā kā kī▫ā sabẖ kicẖẖ ho▫e.
Everything is done by His doing;
|
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
Ŧis ṯe bāhar nāhī ko▫e. ||1||
other than Him, there is nothing at all. ||1||
|
ਕਹੁ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Kaho benanṯī apune saṯgur pāhi.
Offer your prayers to your True Guru;
|
ਕਾਜ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਦੇਇ ਨਿਬਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kāj ṯumāre ḏe▫e nibāhi. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He will resolve your affairs. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥
Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ jā kā ḏarbār.
The Darbaar of His Court is the most exalted of all.
|
ਸਗਲ ਭਗਤ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
Sagal bẖagaṯ jā kā nām aḏẖār.
His Name is the Support of all His devotees.
|
ਸਰਬ ਬਿਆਪਿਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਧਨੀ ॥
Sarab bi▫āpaṯ pūran ḏẖanī.
The Perfect Master is pervading everywhere.
|
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਬਨੀ ॥੨॥
Jā kī sobẖā gẖat gẖat banī. ||2||
His Glory is manifest in each and every heart. ||2||
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੁਖ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਹੈ ॥
Jis simraṯ ḏukẖ derā dẖahai.
Remembering Him in meditation, the home of sorrow is abolished.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਕਹੈ ॥
Jis simraṯ jam kicẖẖū na kahai.
Remembering Him in meditation, the Messenger of Death shall not touch you.
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਹੋਤ ਸੂਕੇ ਹਰੇ ॥
Jis simraṯ hoṯ sūke hare.
Remembering Him in meditation, the dry branches become green again.
