ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਲਾਇ ਦੇਹ ਸਵਾਰੀ
संनिआसी बिभूत लाइ देह सवारी ॥
Sani▫āsī bibẖūṯ lā▫e ḏeh savārī.
The Sannyaasee smears his body with ashes;

ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਕਰੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ
पर त्रिअ तिआगु करी ब्रहमचारी ॥
Par ṯari▫a ṯi▫āg karī barahamcẖārī.
renouncing other men's women, he practices celibacy.

ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
मै मूरख हरि आस तुमारी ॥२॥
Mai mūrakẖ har ās ṯumārī. ||2||
I am just a fool, Lord; I place my hopes in You! ||2||

ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸੂਰਤਣੁ ਪਾਵੈ
खत्री करम करे सूरतणु पावै ॥
Kẖaṯrī karam kare sūrṯaṇ pāvai.
The Kashatriya acts bravely, and is recognized as a warrior.

ਸੂਦੁ ਵੈਸੁ ਪਰ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ
सूदु वैसु पर किरति कमावै ॥
Sūḏ vais par kiraṯ kamāvai.
The Soodra and the Vaisha work and slave for others;

ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛਡਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
मै मूरख हरि नामु छडावै ॥३॥
Mai mūrakẖ har nām cẖẖadāvai. ||3||
I am just a fool - I am saved by the Lord's Name. ||3||

ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ
सभ तेरी स्रिसटि तूं आपि रहिआ समाई ॥
Sabẖ ṯerī sarisat ṯūʼn āp rahi▫ā samā▫ī.
The entire Universe is Yours; You Yourself permeate and pervade it.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ
गुरमुखि नानक दे वडिआई ॥
Gurmukẖ Nānak ḏe vadi▫ā▫ī.
O Nanak, the Gurmukhs are blessed with glorious greatness.

ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੯॥
मै अंधुले हरि टेक टिकाई ॥४॥१॥३९॥
Mai anḏẖule har tek tikā▫ī. ||4||1||39||
I am blind - I have taken the Lord as my Support. ||4||1||39||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ
गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ४ ॥
Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 4.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Mehl:

ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਕਥਾ ਕਥਾ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ
निरगुण कथा कथा है हरि की ॥
Nirguṇ kathā kathā hai har kī.
The Speech of the Lord is the most sublime speech, free of any attributes.

ਭਜੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ
भजु मिलि साधू संगति जन की ॥
Bẖaj mil sāḏẖū sangaṯ jan kī.
Vibrate on it, meditate on it, and join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਤਰੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ॥੧॥
तरु भउजलु अकथ कथा सुनि हरि की ॥१॥
Ŧar bẖa▫ojal akath kathā sun har kī. ||1||
Cross over the terrifying world-ocean, listening to the Unspoken Speech of the Lord. ||1||

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਇ
गोबिंद सतसंगति मेलाइ ॥
Gobinḏ saṯsangaṯ melā▫e.
O Lord of the Universe, unite me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
हरि रसु रसना राम गुन गाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har ras rasnā rām gun gā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
My tongue savors the sublime essence of the Lord, singing the Lord's Glorious Praises. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋ ਜਨ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ
जो जन धिआवहि हरि हरि नामा ॥
Jo jan ḏẖi▫āvahi har har nāmā.
Those humble beings who meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har -

ਤਿਨ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮ ਰਾਮਾ
तिन दासनि दास करहु हम रामा ॥
Ŧin ḏāsan ḏās karahu ham rāmā.
please make me the slave of their slaves, Lord.

ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਊਤਮ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
जन की सेवा ऊतम कामा ॥२॥
Jan kī sevā ūṯam kāmā. ||2||
Serving Your slaves is the ultimate good deed. ||2||

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ
जो हरि की हरि कथा सुणावै ॥
Jo har kī har kathā suṇāvai.
One who chants the Speech of the Lord -

ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਹਮਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਭਾਵੈ
सो जनु हमरै मनि चिति भावै ॥
So jan hamrai man cẖiṯ bẖāvai.
that humble servant is pleasing to my conscious mind.

ਜਨ ਪਗ ਰੇਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
जन पग रेणु वडभागी पावै ॥३॥
Jan pag reṇ vadbẖāgī pāvai. ||3||
Those who are blessed with great good fortune obtain the dust of the feet of the humble. ||3||

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ
संत जना सिउ प्रीति बनि आई ॥
Sanṯ janā si▫o parīṯ ban ā▫ī.
They are in love with the humble Saints,

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਲਿਖਤੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਈ
जिन कउ लिखतु लिखिआ धुरि पाई ॥
Jin ka▫o likẖaṯ likẖi▫ā ḏẖur pā▫ī.
who are blessed with such pre-ordained destiny.

ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥੪੦॥
ते जन नानक नामि समाई ॥४॥२॥४०॥
Ŧe jan Nānak nām samā▫ī. ||4||2||40||
Those humble beings, O Nanak, are absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||2||40||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ
गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ४ ॥
Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 4.
Gauree Gwaarayree, Fourth Mehl:

ਮਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਪੁਤੁ ਖਾਇ
माता प्रीति करे पुतु खाइ ॥
Māṯā parīṯ kare puṯ kẖā▫e.
The mother loves to see her son eat.

ਮੀਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭਈ ਜਲਿ ਨਾਇ
मीने प्रीति भई जलि नाइ ॥
Mīne parīṯ bẖa▫ī jal nā▫e.
The fish loves to bathe in the water.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
सतिगुर प्रीति गुरसिख मुखि पाइ ॥१॥
Saṯgur parīṯ gursikẖ mukẖ pā▫e. ||1||
The True Guru loves to place food in the mouth of His GurSikh. ||1||

ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਹਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ
ते हरि जन हरि मेलहु हम पिआरे ॥
Ŧe har jan har melhu ham pi▫āre.
If only I could meet those humble servants of the Lord, O my Beloved.

ਜਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਦੁਖ ਜਾਹਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जिन मिलिआ दुख जाहि हमारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jin mili▫ā ḏukẖ jāhi hamāre. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Meeting with them, my sorrows depart. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਉ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਛਰੇ ਗਊ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਵੈ
जिउ मिलि बछरे गऊ प्रीति लगावै ॥
Ji▫o mil bacẖẖre ga▫ū parīṯ lagāvai.
As the cow shows her love to her strayed calf when she finds it,

ਕਾਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈ
कामनि प्रीति जा पिरु घरि आवै ॥
Kāman parīṯ jā pir gẖar āvai.
and as the bride shows her love for her husband when he returns home,

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
हरि जन प्रीति जा हरि जसु गावै ॥२॥
Har jan parīṯ jā har jas gāvai. ||2||
so does the Lord's humble servant love to sing the Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਬਸੈ ਜਲ ਧਾਰਾ
सारिंग प्रीति बसै जल धारा ॥
Sāring parīṯ basai jal ḏẖārā.
The rain-bird loves the rainwater, falling in torrents;

ਨਰਪਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇਖਿ ਪਸਾਰਾ
नरपति प्रीति माइआ देखि पसारा ॥
Narpaṯ parīṯ mā▫i▫ā ḏekẖ pasārā.
the king loves to see his wealth on display.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਜਪੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
हरि जन प्रीति जपै निरंकारा ॥३॥
Har jan parīṯ japai nirankārā. ||3||
The humble servant of the Lord loves to meditate on the Formless Lord. ||3||

ਨਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੇ
नर प्राणी प्रीति माइआ धनु खाटे ॥
Nar parāṇī parīṯ mā▫i▫ā ḏẖan kẖāte.
The mortal man loves to accumulate wealth and property.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗਲਾਟੇ
गुरसिख प्रीति गुरु मिलै गलाटे ॥
Gursikẖ parīṯ gur milai galāte.
The GurSikh loves to meet and embrace the Guru.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਚਾਟੇ ॥੪॥੩॥੪੧॥
जन नानक प्रीति साध पग चाटे ॥४॥३॥४१॥
Jan Nānak parīṯ sāḏẖ pag cẖāte. ||4||3||41||
Servant Nanak loves to kiss the feet of the Holy. ||4||3||41||

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ

Ga▫oṛī gu▫ārerī mėhlā 4.

ਭੀਖਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਭੀਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਇ
भीखक प्रीति भीख प्रभ पाइ ॥
Bẖīkẖak parīṯ bẖīkẖ parabẖ pā▫e.
The beggar loves to receive charity from the wealthy landlord.

ਭੂਖੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਅੰਨੁ ਖਾਇ
भूखे प्रीति होवै अंनु खाइ ॥
Bẖūkẖe parīṯ hovai ann kẖā▫e.
The hungry person loves to eat food.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਘਾਇ ॥੧॥
गुरसिख प्रीति गुर मिलि आघाइ ॥१॥
Gursikẖ parīṯ gur mil āgẖā▫e. ||1||
The GurSikh loves to find satisfaction by meeting the Guru. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ
हरि दरसनु देहु हरि आस तुमारी ॥
Har ḏarsan ḏeh har ās ṯumārī.
O Lord, grant me the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; I place my hopes in You, Lord.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੋਚ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
करि किरपा लोच पूरि हमारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kar kirpā locẖ pūr hamārī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Shower me with Your Mercy, and fulfill my longing. ||1||Pause||

ਚਕਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ
चकवी प्रीति सूरजु मुखि लागै ॥
Cẖakvī parīṯ sūraj mukẖ lāgai.
The song-bird loves the sun shining in her face.

ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਤਿਆਗੈ
मिलै पिआरे सभ दुख तिआगै ॥
Milai pi▫āre sabẖ ḏukẖ ṯi▫āgai.
Meeting her Beloved, all her pains are left behind.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੨॥
गुरसिख प्रीति गुरू मुखि लागै ॥२॥
Gursikẖ parīṯ gurū mukẖ lāgai. ||2||
The GurSikh loves to gaze upon the Face of the Guru. ||2||

ਬਛਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਖੀਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਖਾਇ
बछरे प्रीति खीरु मुखि खाइ ॥
Bacẖẖre parīṯ kẖīr mukẖ kẖā▫e.
The calf loves to suck its mother's milk;

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਦੇਖੈ ਮਾਇ
हिरदै बिगसै देखै माइ ॥
Hirḏai bigsai ḏekẖai mā▫e.
its heart blossoms forth upon seeing its mother.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
गुरसिख प्रीति गुरू मुखि लाइ ॥३॥
Gursikẖ parīṯ gurū mukẖ lā▫e. ||3||
The GurSikh loves to gaze upon the Face of the Guru. ||3||

ਹੋਰੁ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਕਾਚਾ
होरु सभ प्रीति माइआ मोहु काचा ॥
Hor sabẖ parīṯ mā▫i▫ā moh kācẖā.
All other loves and emotional attachment to Maya are false.

ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਕੂਰਾ ਕਚੁ ਪਾਚਾ
बिनसि जाइ कूरा कचु पाचा ॥
Binas jā▫e kūrā kacẖ pācẖā.
They shall pass away, like false and transitory decorations.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ॥੪॥੪॥੪੨॥
जन नानक प्रीति त्रिपति गुरु साचा ॥४॥४॥४२॥
Jan Nānak parīṯ ṯaripaṯ gur sācẖā. ||4||4||42||
Servant Nanak is fulfilled, through the Love of the True Guru. ||4||4||42||
