Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 1.
Gauri 1st Guru.
|
ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਨਹ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
किरतु पइआ नह मेटै कोइ ॥
Kiraṯ pa▫i▫ā nah metai ko▫e.
Past actions none can erase.
|
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਿਆ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
किआ जाणा किआ आगै होइ ॥
Ki▫ā jāṇā ki▫ā āgai ho▫e.
What do I know what shall befall me hereafter?
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸੋਈ ਹੂਆ ॥
जो तिसु भाणा सोई हूआ ॥
Jo ṯis bẖāṇā so▫ī hū▫ā.
Whatever is His will, that comes to pass.
|
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣੈ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੂਆ ॥੧॥
अवरु न करणै वाला दूआ ॥१॥
Avar na karṇai vālā ḏū▫ā. ||1||
Without God there is no other doer.
|
ਨਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਕਰਮ ਕੇਵਡ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
ना जाणा करम केवड तेरी दाति ॥
Nā jāṇā karam kevad ṯerī ḏāṯ.
I know not how great is Thy bounty, and how great is Thine gift!
|
ਕਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਜਾਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
करमु धरमु तेरे नाम की जाति ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Karam ḏẖaram ṯere nām kī jāṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Good actions, religion and high caste are contained in Thy Name, O Lord. Pause.
|
ਤੂ ਏਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
तू एवडु दाता देवणहारु ॥
Ŧū evad ḏāṯā ḏevaṇhār.
Thou art so great the donor and Giver,
|
ਤੋਟਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
तोटि नाही तुधु भगति भंडार ॥
Ŧot nāhī ṯuḏẖ bẖagaṯ bẖandār.
that Thine treasures of meditation run not short.
|
ਕੀਆ ਗਰਬੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
कीआ गरबु न आवै रासि ॥
Kī▫ā garab na āvai rās.
It is never right to take pride.
|
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
जीउ पिंडु सभु तेरै पासि ॥२॥
Jī▫o pind sabẖ ṯerai pās. ||2||
Man's life and body are all at Thy disposal.
|
ਤੂ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਹਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
तू मारि जीवालहि बखसि मिलाइ ॥
Ŧū mār jīvālėh bakẖas milā▫e.
Thou takest and givest life, and forgiving unitest the mortal with Thee.
|
ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੀ ਤਿਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਇ ॥
जिउ भावी तिउ नामु जपाइ ॥
Ji▫o bẖāvī ṯi▫o nām japā▫e.
As is Thy will, so do Thou cause me to remember Thy Name,
|
ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੇਰੈ ॥
तूं दाना बीना साचा सिरि मेरै ॥
Ŧūʼn ḏānā bīnā sācẖā sir merai.
Thou art all-Wise, All-seeing, and All-true, O my over Lord,
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਭਰੋਸੈ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੩॥
गुरमति देइ भरोसै तेरै ॥३॥
Gurmaṯ ḏe▫e bẖarosai ṯerai. ||3||
Grant unto me Guru's instruction, my faith is in Thee.
|
ਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
तन महि मैलु नाही मनु राता ॥
Ŧan mėh mail nāhī man rāṯā.
He, whose mind is imbued with the love of the Lord, has no filth in his body.
|
ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
गुर बचनी सचु सबदि पछाता ॥
Gur bacẖnī sacẖ sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.
By Guru's words, the true Lord is recognised.
|
ਤੇਰਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
तेरा ताणु नाम की वडिआई ॥
Ŧerā ṯāṇ nām kī vadi▫ā▫ī.
My might is in Thee and my greatness in Thy Name.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਣਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
नानक रहणा भगति सरणाई ॥४॥१०॥
Nānak rahṇā bẖagaṯ sarṇā▫ī. ||4||10||
Nanak abides in the sanctuary of Thine devotees.
|

|
ਜਿਨਿ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਹਾਇਆ ਅਪਿਓ ਪੀਆਇਆ ॥
जिनि अकथु कहाइआ अपिओ पीआइआ ॥
Jin akath kahā▫i▫ā api▫o pī▫ā▫i▫ā.
He, who utters the unutterable God, and quaffs Nectar,
|
ਅਨ ਭੈ ਵਿਸਰੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
अन भै विसरे नामि समाइआ ॥१॥
An bẖai visre nām samā▫i▫ā. ||1||
forgets other fears, and gets absorbed in Lord's Name.
|
ਕਿਆ ਡਰੀਐ ਡਰੁ ਡਰਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
किआ डरीऐ डरु डरहि समाना ॥
Ki▫ā darī▫ai dar darėh samānā.
Why should we fear, when all the fears sink in Lord's fear?
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
पूरे गुर कै सबदि पछाना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Pūre gur kai sabaḏ pacẖẖānā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Through the instruction of perfect Guru I have recognised the Master. Pause
|
ਜਿਸੁ ਨਰ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
जिसु नर रामु रिदै हरि रासि ॥
Jis nar rām riḏai har rās.
Within whose mind has the capital of the Omnipresent God's Name,
|
ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
सहजि सुभाइ मिले साबासि ॥२॥
Sahj subẖā▫e mile sābās. ||2||
is blessed automatically with natural ease.
|
ਜਾਹਿ ਸਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਝ ਬਿਆਲ ॥
जाहि सवारै साझ बिआल ॥
Jāhi savārai sājẖ bi▫āl.
The wayward, whom the Lord puts to slumber, evening and morning,
|
ਇਤ ਉਤ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬਾਧੇ ਕਾਲ ॥੩॥
इत उत मनमुख बाधे काल ॥३॥
Iṯ uṯ manmukẖ bāḏẖe kāl. ||3||
are bound to death here and hereafter.
|
ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
अहिनिसि रामु रिदै से पूरे ॥
Ahinis rām riḏai se pūre.
They in whose heart, and night abides the Pervading God, are perfect.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਦੂਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
नानक राम मिले भ्रम दूरे ॥४॥११॥
Nānak rām mile bẖaram ḏūre. ||4||11||
Nanak, they cast off their doubt, and blend with the Lord.
|

|
ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਹਿਤਕਾਰੁ ॥
जनमि मरै त्रै गुण हितकारु ॥
Janam marai ṯarai guṇ hiṯkār.
He who loves the three qualities continues coming and going.
|
ਚਾਰੇ ਬੇਦ ਕਥਹਿ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
चारे बेद कथहि आकारु ॥
Cẖāre beḏ kathėh ākār.
The four Vedas describe only the visible Forms.
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਕਹਹਿ ਵਖਿਆਨੁ ॥
तीनि अवसथा कहहि वखिआनु ॥
Ŧīn avasthā kahėh vakẖi▫ān.
They explain and expound the three mental states.
|
ਤੁਰੀਆਵਸਥਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
तुरीआवसथा सतिगुर ते हरि जानु ॥१॥
Ŧurī▫āvasthā saṯgur ṯe har jān. ||1||
The fourth state of communion with the Lord, is known through the Divine True Guru.
|
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤਰਣਾ ॥
राम भगति गुर सेवा तरणा ॥
Rām bẖagaṯ gur sevā ṯarṇā.
Through Lord's meditation, and Guru's service, the mortal swims across.
|
ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਹੈ ਮਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बाहुड़ि जनमु न होइ है मरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bāhuṛ janam na ho▫e hai marṇā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Again, he is not born and he dies not. Pause.
|
ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
चारि पदारथ कहै सभु कोई ॥
Cẖār paḏārath kahai sabẖ ko▫ī.
Everyone talks of the four cardinal boons,
|
ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
सिम्रिति सासत पंडित मुखि सोई ॥
Simriṯ sāsaṯ pandiṯ mukẖ so▫ī.
twenty-seven Simritis, six Shashtras, and the leading pandits speak of them as well,
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਅਰਥੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
बिनु गुर अरथु बीचारु न पाइआ ॥
Bin gur arath bīcẖār na pā▫i▫ā.
Without the Guru none gets at their meaning and real significance.
|
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
मुकति पदारथु भगति हरि पाइआ ॥२॥
Mukaṯ paḏārath bẖagaṯ har pā▫i▫ā. ||2||
The wealth of salvation is obtained by the devotional service of god.
|
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥
जा कै हिरदै वसिआ हरि सोई ॥
Jā kai hirḏai vasi▫ā har so▫ī.
Within whose mind that God abides,
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
गुरमुखि भगति परापति होई ॥
Gurmukẖ bẖagaṯ parāpaṯ ho▫ī.
Through the Guru, he obtains His meditations.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ॥
हरि की भगति मुकति आनंदु ॥
Har kī bẖagaṯ mukaṯ ānanḏ.
By God's worship, emancipation and celestial bliss are procured.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦੁ ॥੩॥
गुरमति पाए परमानंदु ॥३॥
Gurmaṯ pā▫e parmānanḏ. ||3||
By Guru's instruction supreme happiness is obtained.
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
जिनि पाइआ गुरि देखि दिखाइआ ॥
Jin pā▫i▫ā gur ḏekẖ ḏikẖā▫i▫ā.
He, who has met the Guru, himself beholds God, and causes others to behold Him.
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੁ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
आसा माहि निरासु बुझाइआ ॥
Āsā māhi nirās bujẖā▫i▫ā.
Amidst hopes, the Guru has instructed him to remain without hope.
|
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
दीना नाथु सरब सुखदाता ॥
Ḏīnā nāth sarab sukẖ▫ḏāṯa.
He is the Master of the meek, and the Giver of peace to all.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥
नानक हरि चरणी मनु राता ॥४॥१२॥
Nānak har cẖarṇī man rāṯā. ||4||12||
Nanak's mind is imbued with the love of God's feet.
|
ਗਉੜੀ ਚੇਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
गउड़ी चेती महला १ ॥
Ga▫oṛī cẖeṯī mėhlā 1.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਾਇਆ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਖਾਲੀ ਬਾਜੀ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੋ ॥
अम्रित काइआ रहै सुखाली बाजी इहु संसारो ॥
Amriṯ kā▫i▫ā rahai sukẖālī bājī ih sansāro.
O body, thinking thyself immortal thou livest in peace, but this world is a play,
|
ਲਬੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਮੁਚੁ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਉਠਾਵਹਿ ਭਾਰੋ ॥
लबु लोभु मुचु कूड़ु कमावहि बहुतु उठावहि भारो ॥
Lab lobẖ mucẖ kūṛ kamāvėh bahuṯ uṯẖāvėh bẖāro.
Thou practisest avarice covetousness, great, false-hood, and carriest many, burdens.
|
ਤੂੰ ਕਾਇਆ ਮੈ ਰੁਲਦੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਜਿਉ ਧਰ ਉਪਰਿ ਛਾਰੋ ॥੧॥
तूं काइआ मै रुलदी देखी जिउ धर उपरि छारो ॥१॥
Ŧūʼn kā▫i▫ā mai rulḏī ḏekẖī ji▫o ḏẖar upar cẖẖāro. ||1||
O body! I have seen, thee, wallowing like ashes on the earth.
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਿਖ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
सुणि सुणि सिख हमारी ॥
Suṇ suṇ sikẖ hamārī.
Hearken, hearken to my instruction.
|
ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਰਹਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सुक्रितु कीता रहसी मेरे जीअड़े बहुड़ि न आवै वारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sukariṯ kīṯā rahsī mere jī▫aṛe bahuṛ na āvai vārī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The good deeds done shall abide with thee, O my soul, thou shalt not, again find such opportunity. Pause.
|
