ਨਾਮ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਇਲਿ ਥਾਟੁ ॥
नाम संजोगी गोइलि थाटु ॥
Nām sanjogī go▫il thāt.
They, who are associated with the Name, seem the world a temporary but in pastureland.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਫੂਟੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਟੁ ॥
काम क्रोध फूटै बिखु माटु ॥
Kām kroḏẖ fūtai bikẖ māt.
The poisonous pitcher of lust and wrath, at last bursts.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਵਖਰ ਸੂਨੋ ਘਰੁ ਹਾਟੁ ॥
बिनु वखर सूनो घरु हाटु ॥
Bin vakẖar sūno gẖar hāt.
Without the merchandise of the Name, the body-house and the mind-shop are empty.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੋਲੇ ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ॥੪॥
गुर मिलि खोले बजर कपाट ॥४॥
Gur mil kẖole bajar kapāt. ||4||
By meeting the Guru, the adamant shutters are opened.
|
ਸਾਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਪੂਰਬ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥
साधु मिलै पूरब संजोग ॥
Sāḏẖ milai pūrab sanjog.
The saint is met through primal destiny.
|
ਸਚਿ ਰਹਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਲੋਗ ॥
सचि रहसे पूरे हरि लोग ॥
Sacẖ rahse pūre har log.
Lord's perfect people rejoice in Truth.
|
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਦੇ ਲੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
मनु तनु दे लै सहजि सुभाइ ॥
Man ṯan ḏe lai sahj subẖā▫e.
Who automatically obtain their Lord by surrendering their soul and body,
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥੬॥
नानक तिन कै लागउ पाइ ॥५॥६॥
Nānak ṯin kai lāga▫o pā▫e. ||5||6||
Nanak falls at the feet of those.

Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 1.
Gauri, 1st Guru.
|
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
कामु क्रोधु माइआ महि चीतु ॥
Kām kroḏẖ mā▫i▫ā mėh cẖīṯ.
In lust, wrath and wealth, thy mind is engrossed.
|
ਝੂਠ ਵਿਕਾਰਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਹਿਤ ਚੀਤੁ ॥
झूठ विकारि जागै हित चीतु ॥
Jẖūṯẖ vikār jāgai hiṯ cẖīṯ.
On account of secular love in thy mind, thou art awake in falsehood and sin.
|
ਪੂੰਜੀ ਪਾਪ ਲੋਭ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੁ ॥
पूंजी पाप लोभ की कीतु ॥
Pūnjī pāp lobẖ kī kīṯ.
Thou hast amassed the capital of vice and greed.
|
ਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਚੀਤੁ ॥੧॥
तरु तारी मनि नामु सुचीतु ॥१॥
Ŧar ṯārī man nām sucẖīṯ. ||1||
With the immaculate Name O my mind, do thou swim across the life-stream.
|
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਮੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥
वाहु वाहु साचे मै तेरी टेक ॥
vāhu vāhu sācẖe mai ṯerī tek.
Wonderous, blest thou art, O my True Lord. I have but Thine support.
|
ਹਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਏਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हउ पापी तूं निरमलु एक ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ha▫o pāpī ṯūʼn nirmal ek. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I am a sinner, Thou alone art pure. Pause.
|
ਅਗਨਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੋਲੈ ਭੜਵਾਉ ॥
अगनि पाणी बोलै भड़वाउ ॥
Agan pāṇī bolai bẖaṛvā▫o.
Because of fire and water, the breath roars loudly.
|
ਜਿਹਵਾ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਏਕੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
जिहवा इंद्री एकु सुआउ ॥
Jihvā inḏrī ek su▫ā▫o.
The tongue and the sexual organ each enjoys a relish.
|
ਦਿਸਟਿ ਵਿਕਾਰੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ॥
दिसटि विकारी नाही भउ भाउ ॥
Ḏisat vikārī nāhī bẖa▫o bẖā▫o.
The evil-eyed possess not the fear and love of God.
|
ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਉ ॥੨॥
आपु मारे ता पाए नाउ ॥२॥
Āp māre ṯā pā▫e nā▫o. ||2||
If man effaces his self-conceit, he obtains the Name, then.
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
सबदि मरै फिरि मरणु न होइ ॥
Sabaḏ marai fir maraṇ na ho▫e.
He, who dies through Gurbani, dies not again.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਮੂਏ ਕਿਉ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
बिनु मूए किउ पूरा होइ ॥
Bin mū▫e ki▫o pūrā ho▫e.
Without such death, how can man attain perfection.
|
ਪਰਪੰਚਿ ਵਿਆਪਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਦੋਇ ॥
परपंचि विआपि रहिआ मनु दोइ ॥
Parpancẖ vi▫āp rahi▫ā man ḏo▫e.
The mind is engrossed in the expansion and duality.
|
ਥਿਰੁ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
थिरु नाराइणु करे सु होइ ॥३॥
Thir nārā▫iṇ kare so ho▫e. ||3||
Whatever the Immortal Lord does that comes to pass.
|
ਬੋਹਿਥਿ ਚੜਉ ਜਾ ਆਵੈ ਵਾਰੁ ॥
बोहिथि चड़उ जा आवै वारु ॥
Bohith cẖaṛa▫o jā āvai vār.
I shall board the ship, when my turn comes.
|
ਠਾਕੇ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਰ ॥
ठाके बोहिथ दरगह मार ॥
Ŧẖāke bohith ḏargėh mār.
They, who are stopped from embarking upon the ship shall be thrashed in Lord's court.
|
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
सचु सालाही धंनु गुरदुआरु ॥
Sacẖ sālāhī ḏẖan gurḏu▫ār.
Blest, is the court of the Guru, where the praises of the True Lord are sung.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੭॥
नानक दरि घरि एकंकारु ॥४॥७॥
Nānak ḏar gẖar ekankār. ||4||7||
Nanak, the unique Lord is pervading heart and home.
|
ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
गउड़ी महला १ ॥
Ga▫oṛī mėhlā 1.
Gauri 1st Guru.
|
ਉਲਟਿਓ ਕਮਲੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
उलटिओ कमलु ब्रहमु बीचारि ॥
Ulti▫o kamal barahm bīcẖār.
The inverted lotus has turned upwards through Lord's meditation,
|
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰ ਗਗਨਿ ਦਸ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
अम्रित धार गगनि दस दुआरि ॥
Amriṯ ḏẖār gagan ḏas ḏu▫ār.
From the tenth-gate firmament, the nectar-line has commenced to trickle.
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
त्रिभवणु बेधिआ आपि मुरारि ॥१॥
Ŧaribẖavaṇ beḏẖi▫ā āp murār. ||1||
God, the Enemy of pride, is pervading the three worlds, Himself.
|
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
रे मन मेरे भरमु न कीजै ॥
Re man mere bẖaram na kījai.
O my mind, entertain not any doubt.
|
ਮਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਐ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मनि मानिऐ अम्रित रसु पीजै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Man mānī▫ai amriṯ ras pījai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By mind's propitiation, the Name's immortalising Nectar is quaffed. Pause.
|
ਜਨਮੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਮਰਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
जनमु जीति मरणि मनु मानिआ ॥
Janam jīṯ maraṇ man māni▫ā.
Win thy life game, O man and accept in thy mind, the truth of death.
|
ਆਪਿ ਮੂਆ ਮਨੁ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
आपि मूआ मनु मन ते जानिआ ॥
Āp mū▫ā man man ṯe jāni▫ā.
When self is effaced, the Supreme Soul is comprehended in the mind itself.
|
ਨਜਰਿ ਭਈ ਘਰੁ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
नजरि भई घरु घर ते जानिआ ॥२॥
Najar bẖa▫ī gẖar gẖar ṯe jāni▫ā. ||2||
By the dawning of God's Grace, man comes to recognise His mansion, from within his home.
|
ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਮਜਨੁ ਨਾਮਿ ॥
जतु सतु तीरथु मजनु नामि ॥
Jaṯ saṯ ṯirath majan nām.
God's Name is the true continence, chastity and ablution at the places of pilgrimage.
|
ਅਧਿਕ ਬਿਥਾਰੁ ਕਰਉ ਕਿਸੁ ਕਾਮਿ ॥
अधिक बिथारु करउ किसु कामि ॥
Aḏẖik bithār kara▫o kis kām.
Of what avail is it to make extensive ostentation?
|
ਨਰ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮਿ ॥੩॥
नर नाराइण अंतरजामि ॥३॥
Nar nārā▫iṇ anṯarjām. ||3||
The Omnipresent Lord is the Knower of the hearts of men.
|
ਆਨ ਮਨਉ ਤਉ ਪਰ ਘਰ ਜਾਉ ॥
आन मनउ तउ पर घर जाउ ॥
Ān man▫o ṯa▫o par gẖar jā▫o.
If I have faith in another, then, I would go to another's house.
|
ਕਿਸੁ ਜਾਚਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਥਾਉ ॥
किसु जाचउ नाही को थाउ ॥
Kis jācẖa▫o nāhī ko thā▫o.
Whom should I beg? For me there is no other place.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੪॥੮॥
नानक गुरमति सहजि समाउ ॥४॥८॥
Nānak gurmaṯ sahj samā▫o. ||4||8||
Nanak, by Guru's instruction, I am absorbed in the Supreme Lord,

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁ ਮਰਣੁ ਦਿਖਾਏ ॥
सतिगुरु मिलै सु मरणु दिखाए ॥
Saṯgur milai so maraṇ ḏikẖā▫e.
When the true Guru meets, he shows the way to die in life.
|
ਮਰਣ ਰਹਣ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
मरण रहण रसु अंतरि भाए ॥
Maraṇ rahaṇ ras anṯar bẖā▫e.
The joy of remaining alive, after such a death, is pleasing to my mind.
|
ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਗਗਨ ਪੁਰੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥
गरबु निवारि गगन पुरु पाए ॥१॥
Garab nivār gagan pur pā▫e. ||1||
Having abrogated my ego, I have reached the tenth gate.
|
ਮਰਣੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ਆਏ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ॥
मरणु लिखाइ आए नही रहणा ॥
Maraṇ likẖā▫e ā▫e nahī rahṇā.
Getting recorded the time of death, men did come into the world, and cannot stay longer.
|
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਰਹਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि जपि जापि रहणु हरि सरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har jap jāp rahaṇ har sarṇā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
They should, therefore, embrace God's meditation and abide in God's sanctuary. Pause.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
सतिगुरु मिलै त दुबिधा भागै ॥
Saṯgur milai ṯa ḏubiḏẖā bẖāgai.
When the true Guru meets, then does duality take to heels.
|
ਕਮਲੁ ਬਿਗਾਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
कमलु बिगासि मनु हरि प्रभ लागै ॥
Kamal bigās man har parabẖ lāgai.
The heart lotus blooms, and the mind gets attached to the Lord God.
|
ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਆਗੈ ॥੨॥
जीवतु मरै महा रसु आगै ॥२॥
Jīvaṯ marai mahā ras āgai. ||2||
He, who remains dead in life obtains Supreme bliss hereafter.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸਚ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਸੂਚਾ ॥
सतिगुरि मिलिऐ सच संजमि सूचा ॥
Saṯgur mili▫ai sacẖ sanjam sūcẖā.
By meeting the true Guru, one becomes truthful, abstinent, and pure.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਊਚੋ ਊਚਾ ॥
गुर की पउड़ी ऊचो ऊचा ॥
Gur kī pa▫oṛī ūcẖo ūcẖā.
By walking in Guru's way man becomes the highest of the high.
|
ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਭਉ ਮੂਚਾ ॥੩॥
करमि मिलै जम का भउ मूचा ॥३॥
Karam milai jam kā bẖa▫o mūcẖā. ||3||
By being endowed with Lord's grace, the fear of death is destroyed,
|
ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਿਲਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
गुरि मिलिऐ मिलि अंकि समाइआ ॥
Gur mili▫ai mil ank samā▫i▫ā.
By uniting unto Guru's union, mortal sinks into Lord's lap.
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਘਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
करि किरपा घरु महलु दिखाइआ ॥
Kar kirpā gẖar mahal ḏikẖā▫i▫ā.
Showing his mercy, the Guru reveals Lord's mansion, within man's own house.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੯॥
नानक हउमै मारि मिलाइआ ॥४॥९॥
Nānak ha▫umai mār milā▫i▫ā. ||4||9||
Nanak, effacing his ego, the Guru unites man with the Master.
|
