हरि जन हरि अंतरु नही नानक साची मानु ॥२९॥
Har jan har anṯar nahī Nānak sācẖī mān. ||29||
Between God's slave and God, there is no difference, O Nanak, understand thou this as true.

मनु माइआ मै फधि रहिओ बिसरिओ गोबिंद नामु ॥
Man mā▫i▫ā mai faḏẖ rahi▫o bisri▫o gobinḏ nām.
The man is entangled in mammon and he has forgotten the Lord's Name.
|
कहु नानक बिनु हरि भजन जीवन कउने काम ॥३०॥
Kaho Nānak bin har bẖajan jīvan ka▫une kām. ||30||
Says Nanak, without the Lord's meditation, of what avail is this human life?
|
प्रानी रामु न चेतई मदि माइआ कै अंधु ॥
Parānī rām na cẖeṯ▫ī maḏ mā▫i▫ā kai anḏẖ.
Blinded by the wine of wealth, the mortal remembers not his Lord.
|
कहु नानक हरि भजन बिनु परत ताहि जम फंध ॥३१॥
Kaho Nānak har bẖajan bin paraṯ ṯāhi jam fanḏẖ. ||31||
Says Nanak, without the God's meditation, death's noose falls around him.
|
सुख मै बहु संगी भए दुख मै संगि न कोइ ॥
Sukẖ mai baho sangī bẖa▫e ḏukẖ mai sang na ko▫e.
Man finds many friends in prosperity, however, none becomes his friend in adversity.
|
कहु नानक हरि भजु मना अंति सहाई होइ ॥३२॥
Kaho Nānak har bẖaj manā anṯ sahā▫ī ho▫e. ||32||
Says Nanak, O man, ponder thou over thy God, who shall be thy succourer in the end.
|
जनम जनम भरमत फिरिओ मिटिओ न जम को त्रासु ॥
Janam janam bẖarmaṯ firi▫o miti▫o na jam ko ṯarās.
Man wanders about in many births and his fear of death is removed not.
|
कहु नानक हरि भजु मना निरभै पावहि बासु ॥३३॥
Kaho Nānak har bẖaj manā nirbẖai pāvahi bās. ||33||
Says Nanak, O man, ponder thou over thy Lord, that thou may abides in the fearless God.
|
जतन बहुतु मै करि रहिओ मिटिओ न मन को मानु ॥
Jaṯan bahuṯ mai kar rahi▫o miti▫o na man ko mān.
I have grown weary of making many efforts, but my mind's ego is effaced not.
|
दुरमति सिउ नानक फधिओ राखि लेहु भगवान ॥३४॥
Ḏurmaṯ si▫o Nānak faḏẖi▫o rākẖ leho bẖagvān. ||34||
I am engrossed in evil-intentions, says Nanak, 'save me, O save me, my illustrious Lord.
|
बाल जुआनी अरु बिरधि फुनि तीनि अवसथा जानि ॥
Bāl ju▫ānī ar biraḏẖ fun ṯīn avasthā jān.
Know thou that there are three stages of life, childhood, youth and then old age.
|
कहु नानक हरि भजन बिनु बिरथा सभ ही मानु ॥३५॥
Kaho Nānak har bẖajan bin birthā sabẖ hī mān. ||35||
Says Nanak, know thou that without the Lord's meditation all are in vain.
|
करणो हुतो सु ना कीओ परिओ लोभ कै फंध ॥
Karṇo huṯo so nā kī▫o pari▫o lobẖ kai fanḏẖ.
What thou should have done, that thou have done not. Thou are entangled in the net of covetousness.
|
नानक समिओ रमि गइओ अब किउ रोवत अंध ॥३६॥
Nānak sami▫o ram ga▫i▫o ab ki▫o rovaṯ anḏẖ. ||36||
Nanak! When one's times is past, why wail them, O blind man?
|
मनु माइआ मै रमि रहिओ निकसत नाहिन मीत ॥
Man mā▫i▫ā mai ram rahi▫o niksaṯ nāhin mīṯ.
O friend, the mind is absorbed in riches and it can escape not from it,
|
नानक मूरति चित्र जिउ छाडित नाहिन भीति ॥३७॥
Nānak mūraṯ cẖiṯar ji▫o cẖẖādiṯ nāhin bẖīṯ. ||37||
just as a picture, painted on the wall, leaves it not, O Nanak.
|
नर चाहत कछु अउर अउरै की अउरै भई ॥
Nar cẖāhaṯ kacẖẖ a▫or a▫urai kī a▫urai bẖa▫ī.
Man seeks something, however, something totally different happens.
|
चितवत रहिओ ठगउर नानक फासी गलि परी ॥३८॥
Cẖiṯvaṯ rahi▫o ṯẖaga▫ur Nānak fāsī gal parī. ||38||
O Nanak, he thinks of deceiving others, however, a halter is put round his neck.
|
जतन बहुत सुख के कीए दुख को कीओ न कोइ ॥
Jaṯan bahuṯ sukẖ ke kī▫e ḏukẖ ko kī▫o na ko▫e.
Man makes many efforts to obtain peace, however, makes none to fight pain.
|
कहु नानक सुनि रे मना हरि भावै सो होइ ॥३९॥
Kaho Nānak sun re manā har bẖāvai so ho▫e. ||39||
Says Nanak, O man, understand, whatever pleases God, that alone happens.
|
जगतु भिखारी फिरतु है सभ को दाता रामु ॥
Jagaṯ bẖikẖārī firaṯ hai sabẖ ko ḏāṯā rām.
The world wanders about as a beggar and the Lord alone is the Bestower of all.
|
कहु नानक मन सिमरु तिह पूरन होवहि काम ॥४०॥
Kaho Nānak man simar ṯih pūran hovėh kām. ||40||
Says Nanak, dwell thou on Him, O man, that thine tasks may be fulfilled.
|
झूठै मानु कहा करै जगु सुपने जिउ जानु ॥
Jẖūṯẖai mān kahā karai jag supne ji▫o jān.
Why take thou false pride? Know thou that the world is like a dream.
|
इन मै कछु तेरो नही नानक कहिओ बखानि ॥४१॥
In mai kacẖẖ ṯero nahī Nānak kahi▫o bakẖān. ||41||
In it there is nothing, which is thine. Nanak proclaims and narrates this truth.
|
गरबु करतु है देह को बिनसै छिन मै मीत ॥
Garab karaṯ hai ḏeh ko binsai cẖẖin mai mīṯ.
Thou entertain pride of thy body, which perishes in a moment, O friend.
|
जिहि प्रानी हरि जसु कहिओ नानक तिहि जगु जीति ॥४२॥
Jihi parānī har jas kahi▫o Nānak ṯihi jag jīṯ. ||42||
The mortal, who recites the Lord's praise, he, O Nanak, conquers the whole world.
|
जिह घटि सिमरनु राम को सो नरु मुकता जानु ॥
Jih gẖat simran rām ko so nar mukṯā jān.
He, within whose mind is the Lord's meditation, consider him to be emancipated.
|
तिहि नर हरि अंतरु नही नानक साची मानु ॥४३॥
Ŧihi nar har anṯar nahī Nānak sācẖī mān. ||43||
Between that man and God, there is no difference. Accept thou this as truth, O Nanak.
|
एक भगति भगवान जिह प्रानी कै नाहि मनि ॥
Ėk bẖagaṯ bẖagvān jih parānī kai nāhi man.
The mortal, who enshrines not the devotion of One Lord in his mind,
|
जैसे सूकर सुआन नानक मानो ताहि तनु ॥४४॥
Jaise sūkar su▫ān Nānak māno ṯāhi ṯan. ||44||
O Nanak, deem thou his body to be like that of a hog and a dog.
|
सुआमी को ग्रिहु जिउ सदा सुआन तजत नही नित ॥
Su▫āmī ko garihu ji▫o saḏā su▫ān ṯajaṯ nahī niṯ.
As a dog never abandons the home of his Master of his Master for aye;
|
नानक इह बिधि हरि भजउ इक मनि हुइ इक चिति ॥४५॥
Nānak ih biḏẖ har bẖaja▫o ik man hu▫e ik cẖiṯ. ||45||
Nanak, in this way, thou contemplate on God with focused mind and whole heart.
|
तीरथ बरत अरु दान करि मन मै धरै गुमानु ॥
Ŧirath baraṯ ar ḏān kar man mai ḏẖarai gumān.
Whosoever, while going on pilgrimage, fasting and giving alms, takes pride in his mind,
|
नानक निहफल जात तिह जिउ कुंचर इसनानु ॥४६॥
Nānak nihfal jāṯ ṯih ji▫o kuncẖar isnān. ||46||
Nanak, these deeds of him go in vain like the bathing of an elephant.
|
सिरु क्मपिओ पग डगमगे नैन जोति ते हीन ॥
Sir kampi▫o pag dagmage nain joṯ ṯe hīn.
The head shakes, the feet stagger and the eyes become devoid of luster,
|
कहु नानक इह बिधि भई तऊ न हरि रसि लीन ॥४७॥
Kaho Nānak ih biḏẖ bẖa▫ī ṯa▫ū na har ras līn. ||47||
this has become thy condition, O man, even then thou are absorbed not in the Lord's Name Nectar, Says Nanak.
