गुरू गुरु गुरु करहु गुरू हरि पाईऐ ॥
Guroo gur gur karahu guroo har paa▫ee▫æ.
Chant Guru, Guru, Guru; through the Guru, the Lord is obtained.

ਉਦਧਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨਗ ਹੀਰ ਮਣਿ ਮਿਲਤ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈਐ ॥
उदधि गुरु गहिर ग्मभीर बेअंतु हरि नाम नग हीर मणि मिलत लिव लाईऐ ॥
Uḋaḋʰ gur gahir gambʰeer bé▫anṫ har naam nag heer maṇ milaṫ liv laa▫ee▫æ.
The Guru is an Ocean, deep and profound, infinite and unfathomable. Lovingly attuned to the Lord’s Name, you shall be blessed with jewels, diamonds and emeralds.

ਫੁਨਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮਲ ਸਰਸ ਕਰਤ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਪਰਸ ਮੈਲੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਿਰਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੵਾਈਐ ॥
फुनि गुरू परमल सरस करत कंचनु परस मैलु दुरमति हिरत सबदि गुरु ध्याईऐ ॥
Fun guroo parmal saras karaṫ kanchan paras mæl ḋurmaṫ hiraṫ sabaḋ gur ḋʰa▫yaa▫ee▫æ.
And, the Guru makes us fragrant and fruitful, and His Touch transforms us into gold. The filth of evil-mindedness is washed away, meditating on the Word of the Guru’s Shabad.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਛੁਟਕੰਤ ਸਦ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੵਾਨ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਮਲ ਸਰ ਸੰਤ ਸਿਖ ਨਾਈਐ ॥
अमृत परवाह छुटकंत सद द्वारि जिसु ग्यान गुर बिमल सर संत सिख नाईऐ ॥
Amriṫ parvaah chʰutkanṫ saḋ ḋavaar jis ga▫yaan gur bimal sar sanṫ sikʰ naa▫ee▫æ.
The Stream of Ambrosial Nectar flows constantly from His Door. The Saints and Sikhs bathe in the immaculate pool of the Guru’s spiritual wisdom.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥੧੫॥
नामु निरबाणु निधानु हरि उरि धरहु गुरू गुरु गुरु करहु गुरू हरि पाईऐ ॥३॥१५॥
Naam nirbaaṇ niḋʰaan har ur ḋʰarahu guroo gur gur karahu guroo har paa▫ee▫æ. ||3||15||
Enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart, and dwell in Nirvana. Chant Guru, Guru, Guru; through the Guru, the Lord is obtained. ||3||15||

ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਪੁ ਮੰਨ ਰੇ ॥
गुरू गुरु गुरू गुरु गुरू जपु मंन रे ॥
Guroo gur guroo gur guroo jap man ré.
Chant Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, O my mind.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਸਿਵ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸੁਰ ਅਸੁਰ ਗਣ ਤਰਹਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਕੰਨ ਰੇ ॥
जा की सेव सिव सिध साधिक सुर असुर गण तरहि तेतीस गुर बचन सुणि कंन रे ॥
Jaa kee sév siv siḋʰ saaḋʰik sur asur gaṇ ṫarėh ṫéṫees gur bachan suṇ kann ré.
Serving Him, Shiva and the Siddhas, the angels and demons and servants of the gods, and the thirty-three million gods cross over, listening to the Word of the Guru’s Teachings.

ਫੁਨਿ ਤਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਹਿਤ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਰਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਤ ਮੁਨਿ ਜੰਨ ਰੇ ॥
फुनि तरहि ते संत हित भगत गुरु गुरु करहि तरिओ प्रहलादु गुर मिलत मुनि जंन रे ॥
Fun ṫarėh ṫé sanṫ hiṫ bʰagaṫ gur gur karahi ṫari▫o parahlaaḋ gur milaṫ mun jann ré.
And, the Saints and loving devotees are carried across, chanting Guru, Guru. Prahlaad and the silent sages met the Guru, and were carried across.

ਤਰਹਿ ਨਾਰਦਾਦਿ ਸਨਕਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਹਿ ਤਰਹਿ ਇਕ ਨਾਮ ਲਗਿ ਤਜਹੁ ਰਸ ਅੰਨ ਰੇ ॥
तरहि नारदादि सनकादि हरि गुरमुखहि तरहि इक नाम लगि तजहु रस अंन रे ॥
Ṫarėh naarḋaaḋ sankaaḋ har gurmukʰėh ṫarėh ik naam lag ṫajahu ras ann ré.
Naarad and Sanak and those men of God who became Gurmukh were carried across; attached to the One Name, they abandoned other tastes and pleasures, and were carried across.

ਦਾਸੁ ਬੇਨਤਿ ਕਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲਹੈ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਪੁ ਮੰਨ ਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੬॥੨੯॥
दासु बेनति कहै नामु गुरमुखि लहै गुरू गुरु गुरू गुरु गुरू जपु मंन रे ॥४॥१६॥२९॥
Ḋaas bénaṫ kahæ naam gurmukʰ lahæ guroo gur guroo gur guroo jap man ré. ||4||16||29||
This is the prayer of the Lord’s humble slave: the Gurmukh obtains the Naam, the Name of the Lord, chanting Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, Guru, O my mind. ||4||16||29||

ਸਿਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ॥
सिरी गुरू साहिबु सभ ऊपरि ॥
Siree guroo saahib sabʰ oopar.
The Great, Supreme Guru showered His Mercy upon all;

ਕਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਸਤਜੁਗਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪਰਿ ॥
करी क्रिपा सतजुगि जिनि ध्रू परि ॥
Karee kirpaa saṫjug jin ḋʰaroo par.
in the Golden Age of Sat Yuga, He blessed Dhroo.

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਭਗਤ ਉਧਰੀਅੰ ॥
स्री प्रहलाद भगत उधरीअं ॥
Saree parahlaaḋ bʰagaṫ uḋʰree▫aⁿ.
He saved the devotee Prahlaad,
|
ਹਸ੍ਤ ਕਮਲ ਮਾਥੇ ਪਰ ਧਰੀਅੰ ॥
हस्त कमल माथे पर धरीअं ॥
Hasṫ kamal maaṫʰé par ḋʰaree▫aⁿ.
placing the Lotus of His Hand upon his forehead.

ਅਲਖ ਰੂਪ ਜੀਅ ਲਖੵਾ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
अलख रूप जीअ लख्या न जाई ॥
Alakʰ roop jee▫a lakʰ▫yaa na jaa▫ee.
The Unseen Form of the Lord cannot be seen.

ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਗਲ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
साधिक सिध सगल सरणाई ॥
Saaḋʰik siḋʰ sagal sarṇaa▫ee.
The Siddhas and seekers all seek His Sanctuary.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ਸਤਿ ਜੀਅ ਧਾਰਹੁ ॥
गुर के बचन सति जीअ धारहु ॥
Gur ké bachan saṫ jee▫a ḋʰaarahu.
True are the Words of the Guru’s teachings. Enshrine them in your soul.

ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਦੇਹ ਨਿਸ੍ਤਾਰਹੁ ॥
माणस जनमु देह निस्तारहु ॥
Maaṇas janam ḋéh nisṫaarahu.
Emancipate your body, and redeem this human incarnation.
|
ਗੁਰੁ ਜਹਾਜੁ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
गुरु जहाजु खेवटु गुरू गुर बिनु तरिआ न कोइ ॥
Gur jahaaj kʰévat guroo gur bin ṫari▫aa na ko▫é.
The Guru is the Boat, and the Guru is the Boatman. Without the Guru, no one can cross over.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
गुर प्रसादि प्रभु पाईऐ गुर बिनु मुकति न होइ ॥
Gur parsaaḋ parabʰ paa▫ee▫æ gur bin mukaṫ na ho▫é.
By Guru’s Grace, God is obtained. Without the Guru, no one is liberated.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਬਸੈ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
गुरु नानकु निकटि बसै बनवारी ॥
Gur Naanak nikat basæ banvaaree.
Guru Nanak dwells near the Creator Lord.

ਤਿਨਿ ਲਹਣਾ ਥਾਪਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
तिनि लहणा थापि जोति जगि धारी ॥
Ṫin lahṇaa ṫʰaap joṫ jag ḋʰaaree.
He established Lehnaa as Guru, and enshrined His Light in the world.
|
ਲਹਣੈ ਪੰਥੁ ਧਰਮ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ॥
लहणै पंथु धरम का कीआ ॥
Lahṇæ panṫʰ ḋʰaram kaa kee▫aa.
Lehnaa established the path of righteousness and Dharma,
|
ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਭਲੇ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥
अमरदास भले कउ दीआ ॥
Amarḋaas bʰalé ka▫o ḋee▫aa.
which He passed on to Guru Amar Das, of the Bhalla dynasty.
|
ਤਿਨਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਸੋਢੀ ਥਿਰੁ ਥਪੵਉ ॥
तिनि स्री रामदासु सोढी थिरु थप्यउ ॥
Ṫin saree Raamḋaas sodʰee ṫʰir ṫʰap▫ya▫o.
Then, He firmly established the Great Ram Das of the Sodhi dynasty.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਖੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਅਪੵਉ ॥
हरि का नामु अखै निधि अप्यउ ॥
Har kaa naam akʰæ niḋʰ ap▫ya▫o.
He was blessed with the inexhaustible treasure of the Lord’s Name.

ਅਪੵਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਖੈ ਨਿਧਿ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਫਲੁ ਲਹੀਅੰ ॥
अप्यउ हरि नामु अखै निधि चहु जुगि गुर सेवा करि फलु लहीअं ॥
Ap▫ya▫o har naam akʰæ niḋʰ chahu jug gur sévaa kar fal lahee▫aⁿ.
He was blessed with the treasure of the Lord’s Name; throughout the four ages, it is inexhaustible. Serving the Guru, He received His reward.

ਬੰਦਹਿ ਜੋ ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਹੀਅੰ ॥
बंदहि जो चरण सरणि सुखु पावहि परमानंद गुरमुखि कहीअं ॥
Banḋėh jo charaṇ saraṇ sukʰ paavahi parmaananḋ gurmukʰ kahee▫aⁿ.
Those who bow at His Feet and seek His Sanctuary, are blessed with peace; those Gurmukhs are blessed with supreme bliss.

ਪਰਤਖਿ ਦੇਹ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਦਿ ਰੂਪਿ ਪੋਖਣ ਭਰਣੰ ॥
परतखि देह पारब्रहमु सुआमी आदि रूपि पोखण भरणं ॥
Parṫakʰ ḋéh paarbarahm su▫aamee aaḋ roop pokʰaṇ bʰarṇaⁿ.
The Guru’s Body is the Embodiment of the Supreme Lord God, our Lord and Master, the Form of the Primal Being, who nourishes and cherishes all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਅਲਖ ਗਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ਤਾਰਣ ਤਰਣੰ ॥੧॥
सतिगुरु गुरु सेवि अलख गति जा की स्री रामदासु तारण तरणं ॥१॥
Saṫgur gur sév alakʰ gaṫ jaa kee saree Raamḋaas ṫaaraṇ ṫarṇaⁿ. ||1||
So, serve the Guru, the True Guru; His ways and means are inscrutable. The Great Guru Ram Das is the Boat to carry us across. ||1||
|
ਜਿਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਜਪਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਚਿਤਿ ਚਾਓ ॥
जिह अमृत बचन बाणी साधू जन जपहि करि बिचिति चाओ ॥
Jih amriṫ bachan baṇee saaḋʰoo jan jaapėh kar bichiṫ chaa▫o.
The Holy people chant the Ambrosial Words of His Bani with delight in their minds.

ਆਨੰਦੁ ਨਿਤ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
आनंदु नित मंगलु गुर दरसनु सफलु संसारि ॥
Aananḋ niṫ mangal gur ḋarsan safal sansaar.
The Blessed Vision of the Guru’s Darshan is fruitful and rewarding in this world; it brings lasting bliss and joy.

ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਸਫਲੁ ਗੰਗਾ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਰਸਨ ਪਰਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਗਤੇ ॥
संसारि सफलु गंगा गुर दरसनु परसन परम पवित्र गते ॥
Sansaar safal gangaa gur ḋarsan parsan param paviṫar gaṫé.
The Guru’s Darshan is fruitful and rewarding in this world, like the Ganges. Meeting Him, the supreme sacred status is obtained.

ਜੀਤਹਿ ਜਮ ਲੋਕੁ ਪਤਿਤ ਜੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਿਵ ਗੁਰ ਗੵਾਨਿ ਰਤੇ ॥
जीतहि जम लोकु पतित जे प्राणी हरि जन सिव गुर ग्यानि रते ॥
Jeeṫėh jam lok paṫiṫ jé paraaṇee har jan siv gur ga▫yaan raṫé.
Even sinful people conquer the realm of Death, if they become the Lord’s humble servants, and are imbued with the Guru’s spiritual wisdom.

ਰਘੁਬੰਸਿ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਦਸਰਥ ਘਰਿ ਮੁਨਿ ਬੰਛਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਸਰਣੰ ॥
रघुबंसि तिलकु सुंदरु दसरथ घरि मुनि बंछहि जा की सरणं ॥
Ragʰubans ṫilak sunḋar ḋasraṫʰ gʰar mun banchʰėh jaa kee sarṇaⁿ.
He is certified, like the handsome Ram Chander in the house of Dasrath of the Raghwa dynasty. Even the silent sages seek His Sanctuary.
