ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
सोभा सुरति सुहावणी जिनि हरि सेती चितु लाइआ ॥२॥
Sobẖā suraṯ suhāvaṇī jin har seṯī cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā. ||2||
Beautiful and sublime is the glory and the understanding of those who focus their consciousness on the Lord. ||2||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः २ ॥
Salok mėhlā 2.
Shalok, Second Mehl:

ਅਖੀ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਕੰਨਾ ਸੁਨਣਾ
अखी बाझहु वेखणा विणु कंना सुनणा ॥
Akẖī bājẖahu vekẖ▫ṇā viṇ kanna sunṇā.
To see without eyes; to hear without ears;

ਪੈਰਾ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਚਲਣਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਹਥਾ ਕਰਣਾ
पैरा बाझहु चलणा विणु हथा करणा ॥
Pairā bājẖahu cẖalṇā viṇ hathā karṇā.
to walk without feet; to work without hands;

ਜੀਭੈ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਇਉ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਣਾ
जीभै बाझहु बोलणा इउ जीवत मरणा ॥
Jībẖai bājẖahu bolṇā i▫o jīvaṯ marṇā.
to speak without a tongue-like this, one remains dead while yet alive.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ਕੈ ਤਉ ਖਸਮੈ ਮਿਲਣਾ ॥੧॥
नानक हुकमु पछाणि कै तउ खसमै मिलणा ॥१॥
Nānak hukam pacẖẖāṇ kai ṯa▫o kẖasmai milṇā. ||1||
O Nanak, recognize the Hukam of the Lord's Command, and merge with your Lord and Master. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः २ ॥
Mėhlā 2.
Second Mehl:

ਦਿਸੈ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਾਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ
दिसै सुणीऐ जाणीऐ साउ न पाइआ जाइ ॥
Ḏisai suṇī▫ai jāṇī▫ai sā▫o na pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
He is seen, heard and known, but His subtle essence is not obtained.

ਰੁਹਲਾ ਟੁੰਡਾ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਕਿਉ ਗਲਿ ਲਗੈ ਧਾਇ
रुहला टुंडा अंधुला किउ गलि लगै धाइ ॥
Ruhlā tundā anḏẖulā ki▫o gal lagai ḏẖā▫e.
How can the lame, armless and blind person run to embrace the Lord?

ਭੈ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਕਰ ਭਾਵ ਕੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਕਰੇਇ
भै के चरण कर भाव के लोइण सुरति करेइ ॥
Bẖai ke cẖaraṇ kar bẖāv ke lo▫iṇ suraṯ kare▫i.
Let the Fear of God be your feet, and let His Love be your hands; let His Understanding be your eyes.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਿਆਣੀਏ ਇਵ ਕੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
नानकु कहै सिआणीए इव कंत मिलावा होइ ॥२॥
Nānak kahai si▫āṇī▫e iv kanṯ milāvā ho▫e. ||2||
Says Nanak, in this way, O wise soul-bride, you shall be united with your Husband Lord. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ
पउड़ी ॥
Pa▫oṛī.
Pauree:

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ
सदा सदा तूं एकु है तुधु दूजा खेलु रचाइआ ॥
Saḏā saḏā ṯūʼn ek hai ṯuḏẖ ḏūjā kẖel racẖā▫i▫ā.
Forever and ever, You are the only One; You set the play of duality in motion.

ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੰਤਾ ਪਾਇਆ
हउमै गरबु उपाइ कै लोभु अंतरि जंता पाइआ ॥
Ha▫umai garab upā▫e kai lobẖ anṯar janṯā pā▫i▫ā.
You created egotism and arrogant pride, and You placed greed within our beings.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖੁ ਤੂ ਸਭ ਕਰੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਰਾਇਆ
जिउ भावै तिउ रखु तू सभ करे तेरा कराइआ ॥
Ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o rakẖ ṯū sabẖ kare ṯerā karā▫i▫ā.
Keep me as it pleases Your Will; everyone acts as You cause them to act.

ਇਕਨਾ ਬਖਸਹਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਤੁਧੈ ਲਾਇਆ
इकना बखसहि मेलि लैहि गुरमती तुधै लाइआ ॥
Iknā bakẖsahi mel laihi gurmaṯī ṯuḏẖai lā▫i▫ā.
Some are forgiven, and merge with You; through the Guru's Teachings, we are joined to You.

ਇਕਿ ਖੜੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਭਾਇਆ
इकि खड़े करहि तेरी चाकरी विणु नावै होरु न भाइआ ॥
Ik kẖaṛe karahi ṯerī cẖākrī viṇ nāvai hor na bẖā▫i▫ā.
Some stand and serve You; without the Name, nothing else pleases them.

ਹੋਰੁ ਕਾਰ ਵੇਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਇਕਿ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਇਆ
होरु कार वेकार है इकि सची कारै लाइआ ॥
Hor kār vekār hai ik sacẖī kārai lā▫i▫ā.
Any other task would be worthless to them-You have enjoined them to Your True Service.

ਪੁਤੁ ਕਲਤੁ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਹੈ ਇਕਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਇਆ
पुतु कलतु कुट्मबु है इकि अलिपतु रहे जो तुधु भाइआ ॥
Puṯ kalaṯ kutamb hai ik alipaṯ rahe jo ṯuḏẖ bẖā▫i▫ā.
In the midst of children, spouse and relations, some still remain detached; they are pleasing to Your Will.

ਓਹਿ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
ओहि अंदरहु बाहरहु निरमले सचै नाइ समाइआ ॥३॥
Ohi anḏrahu bāhrahu nirmale sacẖai nā▫e samā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Inwardly and outwardly, they are pure, and they are absorbed in the True Name. ||3||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः १ ॥
Salok mėhlā 1.
Shalok, First Mehl:

ਸੁਇਨੇ ਕੈ ਪਰਬਤਿ ਗੁਫਾ ਕਰੀ ਕੈ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਇਆਲਿ
सुइने कै परबति गुफा करी कै पाणी पइआलि ॥
Su▫ine kai parbaṯ gufā karī kai pāṇī pa▫i▫āl.
I may make a cave, in a mountain of gold, or in the water of the nether regions;

ਕੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਕੈ ਆਕਾਸੀ ਉਰਧਿ ਰਹਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਰਿ
कै विचि धरती कै आकासी उरधि रहा सिरि भारि ॥
Kai vicẖ ḏẖarṯī kai ākāsī uraḏẖ rahā sir bẖār.
I may remain standing on my head, upside-down, on the earth or up in the sky;

ਪੁਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਕਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਾ ਧੋਵਾ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਰਿ
पुरु करि काइआ कपड़ु पहिरा धोवा सदा कारि ॥
Pur kar kā▫i▫ā kapaṛ pahirā ḏẖovā saḏā kār.
I may totally cover my body with clothes, and wash them continually;

ਬਗਾ ਰਤਾ ਪੀਅਲਾ ਕਾਲਾ ਬੇਦਾ ਕਰੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ
बगा रता पीअला काला बेदा करी पुकार ॥
Bagā raṯā pī▫alā kālā beḏā karī pukār.
I may shout out loud, the white, red, yellow and black Vedas;

ਹੋਇ ਕੁਚੀਲੁ ਰਹਾ ਮਲੁ ਧਾਰੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਤਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ
होइ कुचीलु रहा मलु धारी दुरमति मति विकार ॥
Ho▫e kucẖīl rahā mal ḏẖārī ḏurmaṯ maṯ vikār.
I may even live in dirt and filth. And yet, all this is just a product of evil-mindedness, and intellectual corruption.

ਨਾ ਹਉ ਨਾ ਮੈ ਨਾ ਹਉ ਹੋਵਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
ना हउ ना मै ना हउ होवा नानक सबदु वीचारि ॥१॥
Nā ha▫o nā mai nā ha▫o hovā Nānak sabaḏ vīcẖār. ||1||
I was not, I am not, and I will never be anything at all! O Nanak, I dwell only on the Word of the Shabad. ||1||

ਮਃ
मः १ ॥
Mėhlā 1.
First Mehl:

ਵਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਖਾਲਿ ਪਖਾਲੇ ਕਾਇਆ ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਹੋਵੈ
वसत्र पखालि पखाले काइआ आपे संजमि होवै ॥
vasṯar pakẖāl pakẖāle kā▫i▫ā āpe sanjam hovai.
They wash their clothes, and scrub their bodies, and try to practice self-discipline.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਲਗੀ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੈ ਬਾਹਰਹੁ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵੈ
अंतरि मैलु लगी नही जाणै बाहरहु मलि मलि धोवै ॥
Anṯar mail lagī nahī jāṇai bāhrahu mal mal ḏẖovai.
But they are not aware of the filth staining their inner being, while they try and try to wash off the outer dirt.

ਅੰਧਾ ਭੂਲਿ ਪਇਆ ਜਮ ਜਾਲੇ
अंधा भूलि पइआ जम जाले ॥
Anḏẖā bẖūl pa▫i▫ā jam jāle.
The blind go astray, caught by the noose of Death.

ਵਸਤੁ ਪਰਾਈ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਘਾਲੇ
वसतु पराई अपुनी करि जानै हउमै विचि दुखु घाले ॥
vasaṯ parā▫ī apunī kar jānai ha▫umai vicẖ ḏukẖ gẖāle.
They see other people's property as their own, and in egotism, they suffer in pain.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ
नानक गुरमुखि हउमै तुटै ता हरि हरि नामु धिआवै ॥
Nānak gurmukẖ ha▫umai ṯutai ṯā har har nām ḏẖi▫āvai.
O Nanak, the egotism of the Gurmukhs is broken, and then, they meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੇ ਨਾਮੋ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
नामु जपे नामो आराधे नामे सुखि समावै ॥२॥
Nām jape nāmo ārāḏẖe nāme sukẖ samāvai. ||2||
They chant the Naam, meditate on the Naam, and through the Naam, they are absorbed in peace. ||2||

ਪਵੜੀ
पवड़ी ॥
Pavṛī.
Pauree:

ਕਾਇਆ ਹੰਸਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ
काइआ हंसि संजोगु मेलि मिलाइआ ॥
Kā▫i▫ā hans sanjog mel milā▫i▫ā.
Destiny has brought together and united the body and the soul-swan.

ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ
तिन ही कीआ विजोगु जिनि उपाइआ ॥
Ŧin hī kī▫ā vijog jin upā▫i▫ā.
He who created them, also separates them.

ਮੂਰਖੁ ਭੋਗੇ ਭੋਗੁ ਦੁਖ ਸਬਾਇਆ
मूरखु भोगे भोगु दुख सबाइआ ॥
Mūrakẖ bẖoge bẖog ḏukẖ sabā▫i▫ā.
The fools enjoy their pleasures; they must also endure all their pains.

ਸੁਖਹੁ ਉਠੇ ਰੋਗ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਾਇਆ
सुखहु उठे रोग पाप कमाइआ ॥
Sukẖhu uṯẖe rog pāp kamā▫i▫ā.
From pleasures, arise diseases and the commission of sins.

ਹਰਖਹੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਖਪਾਇਆ
हरखहु सोगु विजोगु उपाइ खपाइआ ॥
Harkẖahu sog vijog upā▫e kẖapā▫i▫ā.
From sinful pleasures come sorrow, separation, birth and death.

ਮੂਰਖ ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਇ ਝਗੜਾ ਪਾਇਆ
मूरख गणत गणाइ झगड़ा पाइआ ॥
Mūrakẖ gaṇaṯ gaṇā▫e jẖagṛā pā▫i▫ā.
The fools try to account for their misdeeds, and argue uselessly.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਨਿਬੇੜੁ ਝਗੜੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ
सतिगुर हथि निबेड़ु झगड़ु चुकाइआ ॥
Saṯgur hath nibeṛ jẖagaṛ cẖukā▫i▫ā.
The judgment is in the Hands of the True Guru, who puts an end to the argument.

ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ਚਲੈ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
करता करे सु होगु न चलै चलाइआ ॥४॥
Karṯā kare so hog na cẖalai cẖalā▫i▫ā. ||4||
Whatever the Creator does, comes to pass. It cannot be changed by anyone's efforts. ||4||

ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ
सलोकु मः १ ॥

Shalok, First Mehl:

ਕੂੜੁ ਬੋਲਿ ਮੁਰਦਾਰੁ ਖਾਇ
कूड़ु बोलि मुरदारु खाइ ॥
Kūṛ bol murḏār kẖā▫e.
Telling lies, they eat dead bodies.
