काम क्रोध मद मतसर त्रिसना बिनसि जाहि हरि नामु उचारी ॥
Kām kroḏẖ maḏ maṯsar ṯarisnā binas jāhi har nām ucẖārī.
Lust, anger, egotism, jealousy and desire are eliminated by chanting the Name of the Lord.
इसनान दान तापन सुचि किरिआ चरण कमल हिरदै प्रभ धारी ॥
Isnān ḏān ṯāpan sucẖ kiri▫ā cẖaraṇ kamal hirḏai parabẖ ḏẖārī.
The merits of cleansing baths, charity, penance, purity and good deeds, are obtained by enshrining the Lotus Feet of God within the heart.
साजन मीत सखा हरि बंधप जीअ धान प्रभ प्रान अधारी ॥
Sājan mīṯ sakẖā har banḏẖap jī▫a ḏẖān parabẖ parān aḏẖārī.
The Lord is my Friend, my Very Best Friend, Companion and Relative. God is the Sustenance of the soul, the Support of the breath of life.
ओट गही सुआमी समरथह नानक दास सदा बलिहारी ॥९॥
Ot gahī su▫āmī samarthėh Nānak ḏās saḏā balihārī. ||9||
I have grasped the Shelter and Support of my All-powerful Lord and Master; slave Nanak is forever a sacrifice to Him. ||9||
आवध कटिओ न जात प्रेम रस चरन कमल संगि ॥
Āvaḏẖ kati▫o na jāṯ parem ras cẖaran kamal sang.
Weapons cannot cut that person who delights in the love of the Lord's Lotus Feet.
दावनि बंधिओ न जात बिधे मन दरस मगि ॥
Ḏāvan banḏẖi▫o na jāṯ biḏẖe man ḏaras mag.
Ropes cannot bind that person whose mind is pierced through by the Vision of the Lord's Way.
पावक जरिओ न जात रहिओ जन धूरि लगि ॥
Pāvak jari▫o na jāṯ rahi▫o jan ḏẖūr lag.
Fire cannot burn that person who is attached to the dust of the feet of the Lord's humble servant.
नीरु न साकसि बोरि चलहि हरि पंथि पगि ॥
Nīr na sākas bor cẖalėh har panth pag.
Water cannot drown that person whose feet walk on the Lord's Path.
नानक रोग दोख अघ मोह छिदे हरि नाम खगि ॥१॥१०॥
Nānak rog ḏokẖ agẖ moh cẖẖiḏe har nām kẖag. ||1||10||
O Nanak, diseases, faults, sinful mistakes and emotional attachment are pierced by the Arrow of the Name. ||1||10||
उदमु करि लागे बहु भाती बिचरहि अनिक सासत्र बहु खटूआ ॥
Uḏam kar lāge baho bẖāṯī bicẖrahi anik sāsṯar baho kẖatū▫ā.
People are engaged in making all sorts of efforts; they contemplate the various aspects of the six Shaastras.
भसम लगाइ तीरथ बहु भ्रमते सूखम देह बंधहि बहु जटूआ ॥
Bẖasam lagā▫e ṯirath baho bẖaramṯe sūkẖam ḏeh banḏẖėh baho jatū▫ā.
Rubbing ashes all over their bodies, they wander around at the various sacred shrines of pilgrimage; they fast until their bodies are emaciated, and braid their hair into tangled messes.
बिनु हरि भजन सगल दुख पावत जिउ प्रेम बढाइ सूत के हटूआ ॥
Bin har bẖajan sagal ḏukẖ pāvaṯ ji▫o parem badẖā▫e sūṯ ke hatū▫ā.
Without devotional worship of the Lord, they all suffer in pain, caught in the tangled web of their love.
पूजा चक्र करत सोमपाका अनिक भांति थाटहि करि थटूआ ॥२॥११॥२०॥
Pūjā cẖakar karaṯ sompākā anik bẖāʼnṯ thātėh kar thatū▫ā. ||2||11||20||
They perform worship ceremonies, draw ritual marks on their bodies, cook their own food fanatically, and make pompous shows of themselves in all sorts of ways. ||2||11||20||

Sava▫ī▫e mahle pahile ke 1
Swaiyas In Praise Of The First Mehl:
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
इक मनि पुरखु धिआइ बरदाता ॥
Ik man purakẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫e barḏāṯā.
Meditate single-mindedly on the Primal Lord God, the Bestower of blessings.
संत सहारु सदा बिखिआता ॥
Sanṯ sahār saḏā bikẖi▫āṯā.
He is the Helper and Support of the Saints, manifest forever.
तासु चरन ले रिदै बसावउ ॥
Ŧās cẖaran le riḏai basāva▫o.
Grasp His Feet and enshrine them in your heart.
तउ परम गुरू नानक गुन गावउ ॥१॥
Ŧa▫o param gurū Nānak gun gāva▫o. ||1||
Then, let us sing the Glorious Praises of the most exalted Guru Nanak. ||1||
गावउ गुन परम गुरू सुख सागर दुरत निवारण सबद सरे ॥
Gāva▫o gun param gurū sukẖ sāgar ḏuraṯ nivāraṇ sabaḏ sare.
I sing the Glorious Praises of the most exalted Guru Nanak, the Ocean of peace, the Eradicator of sins, the sacred pool of the Shabad, the Word of God.
गावहि ग्मभीर धीर मति सागर जोगी जंगम धिआनु धरे ॥
Gāvahi gambẖīr ḏẖīr maṯ sāgar jogī jangam ḏẖi▫ān ḏẖare.
The beings of deep and profound understanding, oceans of wisdom, sing of Him; the Yogis and wandering hermits meditate on Him.
गावहि इंद्रादि भगत प्रहिलादिक आतम रसु जिनि जाणिओ ॥
Gāvahi inḏrāḏ bẖagaṯ par▫hilāḏik āṯam ras jin jāṇi▫o.
Indra and devotees like Prahlaad, who know the joy of the soul, sing of Him.
कबि कल सुजसु गावउ गुर नानक राजु जोगु जिनि माणिओ ॥२॥
Kab kal sujas gāva▫o gur Nānak rāj jog jin māṇi▫o. ||2||
KAL the poet sings the Sublime Praises of Guru Nanak, who enjoys mastery of Raja Yoga, the Yoga of meditation and success. ||2||
गावहि जनकादि जुगति जोगेसुर हरि रस पूरन सरब कला ॥
Gāvahi jankāḏ jugaṯ jogesur har ras pūran sarab kalā.
King Janak and the great Yogic heroes of the Lord's Way, sing the Praises of the All-powerful Primal Being, filled with the sublime essence of the Lord.
गावहि सनकादि साध सिधादिक मुनि जन गावहि अछल छला ॥
Gāvahi sankāḏ sāḏẖ siḏẖāḏik mun jan gāvahi acẖẖal cẖẖalā.
Sanak and Brahma's sons, the Saadhus and Siddhas, the silent sages and humble servants of the Lord sing the Praises of Guru Nanak, who cannot be deceived by the great deceiver.
गावै गुण धोमु अटल मंडलवै भगति भाइ रसु जाणिओ ॥
Gāvai guṇ ḏẖom atal mandlavai bẖagaṯ bẖā▫e ras jāṇi▫o.
Dhoma the seer and Dhroo, whose realm is unmoving, sing the Glorious Praises of Guru Nanak, who knows the ecstasy of loving devotional worship.
कबि कल सुजसु गावउ गुर नानक राजु जोगु जिनि माणिओ ॥३॥
Kab kal sujas gāva▫o gur Nānak rāj jog jin māṇi▫o. ||3||
KAL the poet sings the Sublime Praises of Guru Nanak, who enjoys mastery of Raja Yoga. ||3||
गावहि कपिलादि आदि जोगेसुर अपर्मपर अवतार वरो ॥
Gāvahi kapilāḏ āḏ jogesur aprampar avṯār varo.
Kapila and the other Yogis sing of Guru Nanak. He is the Avataar, the Incarnation of the Infinite Lord.
गावै जमदगनि परसरामेसुर कर कुठारु रघु तेजु हरिओ ॥
Gāvai jamaḏgan parasrāmesur kar kuṯẖār ragẖ ṯej hari▫o.
Parasraam the son of Jamdagan, whose axe and powers were taken away by Raghuvira, sing of Him.
उधौ अक्रूरु बिदरु गुण गावै सरबातमु जिनि जाणिओ ॥
Uḏẖou akrūr biḏar guṇ gāvai sarbāṯam jin jāṇi▫o.
Udho, Akrur and Bidur sing the Glorious Praises of Guru Nanak, who knows the Lord, the Soul of All.
कबि कल सुजसु गावउ गुर नानक राजु जोगु जिनि माणिओ ॥४॥
Kab kal sujas gāva▫o gur Nānak rāj jog jin māṇi▫o. ||4||
KAL the poet sings the Sublime Praises of Guru Nanak, who enjoys mastery of Raja Yoga. ||4||
