ਜੇਨ ਕਲਾ ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੰ ਨਹ ਛੇਦੰਤ ਜਠਰ ਰੋਗਣਹ ॥
जेन कला मात गरभ प्रतिपालं नह छेदंत जठर रोगणह ॥
Jen kalā māṯ garabẖ pariṯpālaʼn nah cẖẖeḏanṯ jaṯẖar rogṇah.
His Power provides nourishment in the womb of the mother, and does not let disease strike.

ਤੇਨ ਕਲਾ ਅਸਥੰਭੰ ਸਰੋਵਰੰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹ ਛਿਜੰਤਿ ਤਰੰਗ ਤੋਯਣਹ ॥੫੩॥
तेन कला असथ्मभं सरोवरं नानक नह छिजंति तरंग तोयणह ॥५३॥
Ŧen kalā asthambẖaʼn sarovaraʼn Nānak nah cẖẖijanṯ ṯarang ṯoyṇėh. ||53||
His Power holds back the ocean, O Nanak, and does not allow the waves of water to destroy the land. ||53||

ਗੁਸਾਂਈ ਗਰਿਸ੍ਟ ਰੂਪੇਣ ਸਿਮਰਣੰ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਜੀਵਣਹ ॥
गुसांई गरिस्ट रूपेण सिमरणं सरबत्र जीवणह ॥
Gusāʼn▫ī garist rūpeṇ simarṇaʼn sarbaṯar jīvṇah.
The Lord of the World is Supremely Beautiful; His Meditation is the Life of all.

ਲਬਧ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਗੇਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਸ੍ਵਛ ਮਾਰਗ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਣਹ ॥੫੪॥
लबध्यं संत संगेण नानक स्वछ मारग हरि भगतणह ॥५४॥
Labḏẖa▫yaʼn sanṯ sangeṇ Nānak savacẖẖ mārag har bẖagaṯ▫ṇėh. ||54||
In the Society of the Saints, O Nanak, He is found on the path of devotional worship of the Lord. ||54||

ਮਸਕੰ ਭਗਨੰਤ ਸੈਲੰ ਕਰਦਮੰ ਤਰੰਤ ਪਪੀਲਕਹ ॥
मसकं भगनंत सैलं करदमं तरंत पपीलकह ॥
Maskaʼn bẖagnanṯ sailaʼn karḏamaʼn ṯaranṯ papīlkėh.
The mosquito pierces the stone, the ant crosses the swamp,
|
ਸਾਗਰੰ ਲੰਘੰਤਿ ਪਿੰਗੰ ਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ਅੰਧਕਹ ॥
सागरं लंघंति पिंगं तम परगास अंधकह ॥
Sāgraʼn laʼngẖanṯ pi▫angaʼn ṯam pargās anḏẖkah.
the cripple crosses the ocean, and the blind sees in the darkness,
|
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣਿ ਸਿਮਰੰਤਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੫੫॥
साध संगेणि सिमरंति गोबिंद सरणि नानक हरि हरि हरे ॥५५॥
Sāḏẖ sangeṇ simranṯ gobinḏ saraṇ Nānak har har hare. ||55||
meditating on the Lord of the Universe in the Saadh Sangat. Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord, Har, Har, Haray. ||55||

ਤਿਲਕ ਹੀਣੰ ਜਥਾ ਬਿਪ੍ਰਾ ਅਮਰ ਹੀਣੰ ਜਥਾ ਰਾਜਨਹ ॥
तिलक हीणं जथा बिप्रा अमर हीणं जथा राजनह ॥
Ŧilak hīṇaʼn jathā biprā amar hīṇaʼn jathā rājnah.
Like a Brahmin without a sacred mark on his forehead, or a king without the power of command,
|
ਆਵਧ ਹੀਣੰ ਜਥਾ ਸੂਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਰਮ ਹੀਣੰ ਤਥਾ ਬੈਸ੍ਨਵਹ ॥੫੬॥
आवध हीणं जथा सूरा नानक धरम हीणं तथा बैस्नवह ॥५६॥
Āvaḏẖ hīṇaʼn jathā sūrar Nānak ḏẖaram hīṇaʼn ṯathā baisnvėh. ||56||
or a warrior without weapons, so is the devotee of God without Dharmic Faith. ||56||
|
ਨ ਸੰਖੰ ਨ ਚਕ੍ਰੰ ਨ ਗਦਾ ਨ ਸਿਆਮੰ ॥
न संखं न चक्रं न गदा न सिआमं ॥
Na saʼnkẖaʼn na cẖakaraʼn na gaḏā na si▫āmaʼn.
God has no conch-shell, no religious mark, no paraphernalia; he does not have blue skin.

ਅਸ੍ਚਰਜ ਰੂਪੰ ਰਹੰਤ ਜਨਮੰ ॥
अस्चरज रूपं रहंत जनमं ॥
Ascẖaraj rūpaʼn rahanṯ janmaʼn.
His Form is Wondrous and Amazing. He is beyond incarnation.

ਨੇਤ ਨੇਤ ਕਥੰਤਿ ਬੇਦਾ ॥
नेत नेत कथंति बेदा ॥
Neṯ neṯ kathanṯ beḏā.
The Vedas say that He is not this, and not that.
|
ਊਚ ਮੂਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਹ ॥
ऊच मूच अपार गोबिंदह ॥
Ūcẖ mūcẖ apār gobinḏah.
The Lord of the Universe is Lofty and High, Great and Infinite.
|
ਬਸੰਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਅਚੁਤ ਬੁਝੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਡਭਾਗੀਅਹ ॥੫੭॥
बसंति साध रिदयं अचुत बुझंति नानक बडभागीअह ॥५७॥
Basanṯ sāḏẖ riḏ▫yaʼn acẖuṯ bujẖanṯ Nānak badbẖāgī▫ah. ||57||
The Imperishable Lord abides in the hearts of the Holy. He is understood, O Nanak, by those who are very fortunate. ||57||

ਉਦਿਆਨ ਬਸਨੰ ਸੰਸਾਰੰ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ਸਿਆਲ ਖਰਹ ॥
उदिआन बसनं संसारं सनबंधी स्वान सिआल खरह ॥
Uḏi▫ān basanaʼn saʼnsāraʼn sanbanḏẖī savān si▫āl kẖarah.
Living in the world, it is like a wild jungle. One's relatives are like dogs, jackals and donkeys.

ਬਿਖਮ ਸਥਾਨ ਮਨ ਮੋਹ ਮਦਿਰੰ ਮਹਾਂ ਅਸਾਧ ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰਹ ॥
बिखम सथान मन मोह मदिरं महां असाध पंच तसकरह ॥
Bikẖam sathān man moh maḏiraʼn mahāʼn asāḏẖ pancẖ ṯaskarahi.
In this difficult place, the mind is intoxicated with the wine of emotional attachment; the five unconquered thieves lurk there.

ਹੀਤ ਮੋਹ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ਭ੍ਰਮਣੰ ਅਹੰ ਫਾਂਸ ਤੀਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਣ ਕਠਿਨਹ ॥
हीत मोह भै भरम भ्रमणं अहं फांस तीख्यण कठिनह ॥
Hīṯ moh bẖai bẖaram bẖarmaṇaʼn ahaʼn fāʼns ṯīkẖ▫yaṇ kaṯẖinėh.
The mortals wander lost in love and emotional attachment, fear and doubt; they are caught in the sharp, strong noose of egotism.

ਪਾਵਕ ਤੋਅ ਅਸਾਧ ਘੋਰੰ ਅਗਮ ਤੀਰ ਨਹ ਲੰਘਨਹ ॥
पावक तोअ असाध घोरं अगम तीर नह लंघनह ॥
Pāvak ṯo▫a asāḏẖ gẖoraʼn agam ṯīr nah langẖnah.
The ocean of fire is terrifying and impassable. The distant shore is so far away; it cannot be reached.

ਭਜੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਉਧਰਣ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ॥੫੮॥
भजु साधसंगि गोपाल नानक हरि चरण सरण उधरण क्रिपा ॥५८॥
Bẖaj sāḏẖsang gopāl Nānak har cẖaraṇ saraṇ uḏẖraṇ kirpā. ||58||
Vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the World, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; O Nanak, by His Grace, we are saved at the Lotus Feet of the Lord. ||58||

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੰਤ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲਹ ਸਗਲ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਰੋਗ ਖੰਡਣਹ ॥
क्रिपा करंत गोबिंद गोपालह सगल्यं रोग खंडणह ॥
Kirpā karanṯ gobinḏ gopālah sagal▫yaʼn rog kẖandṇah.
When the Lord of the Universe grants His Grace, all illnesses are cured.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗੇਣਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਮਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰਹ ॥੫੯॥
साध संगेणि गुण रमत नानक सरणि पूरन परमेसुरह ॥५९॥
Sāḏẖ sangeṇ guṇ ramaṯ Nānak saraṇ pūran parmesurėh. ||59||
Nanak chants His Glorious Praises in the Saadh Sangat, in the Sanctuary of the Perfect Transcendent Lord God. ||59||

ਸਿਆਮਲੰ ਮਧੁਰ ਮਾਨੁਖ੍ਯ੍ਯੰ ਰਿਦਯੰ ਭੂਮਿ ਵੈਰਣਹ ॥
सिआमलं मधुर मानुख्यं रिदयं भूमि वैरणह ॥
Si▫āmalaʼn maḏẖur mānukẖ▫yaʼn riḏ▫yaʼn bẖūm vairṇah.
The mortal is beautiful and speaks sweet words, but in the farm of his heart, he harbors cruel vengeance.

ਨਿਵੰਤਿ ਹੋਵੰਤਿ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਚੇਤਨੰ ਸੰਤ ਸ੍ਵਜਨਹ ॥੬੦॥
निवंति होवंति मिथिआ चेतनं संत स्वजनह ॥६०॥
Nivanṯ hovanṯ mithi▫ā cẖeṯnaʼn sanṯ savajniĥ. ||60||
He pretends to bow in worship, but he is false. Beware of him, O friendly Saints. ||60||

ਅਚੇਤ ਮੂੜਾ ਨ ਜਾਣੰਤ ਘਟੰਤ ਸਾਸਾ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਤੇ ॥
अचेत मूड़ा न जाणंत घटंत सासा नित प्रते ॥
Acẖeṯ mūṛā na jāṇanṯ gẖatanṯ sāsā niṯ parṯe.
The thoughtless fool does not know that each day, his breaths are being used up.

ਛਿਜੰਤ ਮਹਾ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਕਾਂਇਆ ਕਾਲ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਗ੍ਰਾਸਤੇ ॥
छिजंत महा सुंदरी कांइआ काल कंनिआ ग्रासते ॥
Cẖẖijanṯ mahā sunḏrī kāʼn▫i▫ā kāl kanniā garāsṯe.
His most beautiful body is wearing away; old age, the daughter of death, has seized it.

ਰਚੰਤਿ ਪੁਰਖਹ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਲੀਲਾ ਅਨਿਤ ਆਸਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਨੋਦ ॥
रचंति पुरखह कुट्मब लीला अनित आसा बिखिआ बिनोद ॥
Racẖanṯ pukẖah kutamb līlā aniṯ āsā bikẖi▫ā binoḏ.
He is engrossed in family play; placing his hopes in transitory things, he indulges in corrupt pleasures.

ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤਿ ਭ੍ਰਮੰਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਜਨਮ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮਯਹ ॥੬੧॥
भ्रमंति भ्रमंति बहु जनम हारिओ सरणि नानक करुणा मयह ॥६१॥
Bẖarmanṯ bẖarmanṯ baho janam hāri▫o saraṇ Nānak karuṇā ma▫yėh. ||61||
Wandering lost in countless incarnations, he is exhausted. Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Embodiment of Mercy. ||61||
|
ਹੇ ਜਿਹਬੇ ਹੇ ਰਸਗੇ ਮਧੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਤੁਯੰ ॥
हे जिहबे हे रसगे मधुर प्रिअ तुयं ॥
He jihbe he rasge maḏẖur pari▫a ṯu▫yaʼn.
O tongue, you love to enjoy the sweet delicacies.
|
ਸਤ ਹਤੰ ਪਰਮ ਬਾਦੰ ਅਵਰਤ ਏਥਹ ਸੁਧ ਅਛਰਣਹ ॥
सत हतं परम बादं अवरत एथह सुध अछरणह ॥
Saṯ haṯaʼn param bāḏaʼn avraṯ ethah suḏẖ acẖẖarṇėh.
You are dead to the Truth, and involved in great disputes. Instead, repeat the holy words:

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਮਾਧਵੇ ॥੬੨॥
गोबिंद दामोदर माधवे ॥६२॥
Gobinḏ ḏāmoḏar māḏẖve. ||62||
Gobind, Daamodar, Maadhav. ||62||
|
ਗਰਬੰਤਿ ਨਾਰੀ ਮਦੋਨ ਮਤੰ ॥
गरबंति नारी मदोन मतं ॥
Garbanṯ nārī maḏon maṯaʼn.
Those who are proud, and intoxicated with the pleasures of sex,
|
ਬਲਵੰਤ ਬਲਾਤ ਕਾਰਣਹ ॥
बलवंत बलात कारणह ॥
Balvanṯ balāṯ kārṇah.
and asserting their power over others,
|
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਹ ਭਜੰਤ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜਨਮਨਹ ॥
चरन कमल नह भजंत त्रिण समानि ध्रिगु जनमनह ॥
Cẖaran kamal nah bẖajanṯ ṯariṇ samān ḏẖarig janamnėh.
never contemplate the Lord's Lotus Feet. Their lives are cursed, and as worthless as straw.

ਹੇ ਪਪੀਲਕਾ ਗ੍ਰਸਟੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਤੁਯੰ ਧਨੇ ॥
हे पपीलका ग्रसटे गोबिंद सिमरण तुयं धने ॥
He papīlkā garaste gobinḏ simraṇ ṯu▫yaʼn ḏẖane.
You are as tiny and insignificant as an ant, but you shall become great, by the Wealth of the Lord's Meditation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਨਮੋ ਨਮਹ ॥੬੩॥
नानक अनिक बार नमो नमह ॥६३॥
Nānak anik bār namo namah. ||63||
Nanak bows in humble worship, countless times, over and over again. ||63||
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਣੰ ਤ ਮੇਰੰ ਸਹਕੰ ਤ ਹਰੀਅੰ ॥
त्रिणं त मेरं सहकं त हरीअं ॥
Ŧariṇ ṯa meraʼn sėhkaʼn ṯa harī▫aʼn.
The blade of grass becomes a mountain, and the barren land becomes green.

ਬੂਡੰ ਤ ਤਰੀਅੰ ਊਣੰ ਤ ਭਰੀਅੰ ॥
बूडं त तरीअं ऊणं त भरीअं ॥
Būdaʼn ṯa ṯarī▫aʼn ūṇaʼn ṯa bẖarī▫aʼn.
The drowning one swims across, and the empty is filled to overflowing.

ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਸੂਰ ਉਜਾਰੰ ॥
अंधकार कोटि सूर उजारं ॥
Anḏẖkār kot sūr ujāraʼn.
Millions of suns illuminate the darkness,
|
ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਦਯਾਰੰ ॥੬੪॥
बिनवंति नानक हरि गुर दयारं ॥६४॥
Binvanṯ Nānak har gur ḏeāraʼn. ||64||
prays Nanak, when the Guru, the Lord, becomes Merciful. ||64||
