ਭਉ ਖਾਣਾ ਪੀਣਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
भउ खाणा पीणा सुखु सारु ॥
Bẖa▫o kẖāṇā pīṇā sukẖ sār.
Those who eat and drink the Fear of God, find the most excellent peace.
|
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰੁ ॥
हरि जन संगति पावै पारु ॥
Har jan sangaṯ pāvai pār.
Associating with the humble servants of the Lord, they are carried across.
|
ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਬੋਲਾਵੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
सचु बोलै बोलावै पिआरु ॥
Sacẖ bolai bolāvai pi▫ār.
They speak the Truth, and lovingly inspire others to speak it as well.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੭॥
गुर का सबदु करणी है सारु ॥७॥
Gur kā sabaḏ karṇī hai sār. ||7||
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is the most excellent occupation. ||7||
|
ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਕਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਪਤਿ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
हरि जसु करमु धरमु पति पूजा ॥
Har jas karam ḏẖaram paṯ pūjā.
Those who take the Lord's Praises as their karma and Dharma, their honor and worship service

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਅਗਨੀ ਮਹਿ ਭੂੰਜਾ ॥
काम क्रोध अगनी महि भूंजा ॥
Kām kroḏẖ agnī mėh bẖūʼnjā.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤਉ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜਾ ॥
हरि रसु चाखिआ तउ मनु भीजा ॥
Har ras cẖākẖi▫ā ṯa▫o man bẖījā.
They taste the sublime essence of the Lord, and their minds are drenched with it.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੮॥੫॥
प्रणवति नानकु अवरु न दूजा ॥८॥५॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak avar na ḏūjā. ||8||5||
Prays Nanak, there is no other at all. ||8||5||

Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
राम नामु जपि अंतरि पूजा ॥
Rām nām jap anṯar pūjā.
Chant the Lord's Name, and worship Him deep within your being.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥
गुर सबदु वीचारि अवरु नही दूजा ॥१॥
Gur sabaḏ vīcẖār avar nahī ḏūjā. ||1||
Contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and no other. ||1||
|
ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ॥
एको रवि रहिआ सभ ठाई ॥
Ėko rav rahi▫ā sabẖ ṯẖā▫ī.
The One is pervading all places.
|
ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਜ ਚੜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
अवरु न दीसै किसु पूज चड़ाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Avar na ḏīsai kis pūj cẖaṛā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I do not see any other; unto whom should I offer worship? ||1||Pause||
|
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਜੀਅੜਾ ਤੁਝ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
मनु तनु आगै जीअड़ा तुझ पासि ॥
Man ṯan āgai jī▫aṛā ṯujẖ pās.
I place my mind and body in offering before You; I dedicate my soul to You.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੨॥
जिउ भावै तिउ रखहु अरदासि ॥२॥
Ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o rakẖahu arḏās. ||2||
As it pleases You, You save me, Lord; this is my prayer. ||2||
|
ਸਚੁ ਜਿਹਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਾਈ ॥
सचु जिहवा हरि रसन रसाई ॥
Sacẖ jihvā har rasan rasā▫ī.
True is that tongue which is delighted by the sublime essence of the Lord.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੩॥
गुरमति छूटसि प्रभ सरणाई ॥३॥
Gurmaṯ cẖẖūtas parabẖ sarṇā▫ī. ||3||
Following the Guru's Teachings, one is saved in the Sanctuary of God. ||3||
|
ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਕੀਏ ॥
करम धरम प्रभि मेरै कीए ॥
Karam ḏẖaram parabẖ merai kī▫e.
My God created religious rituals.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਕੀਏ ॥੪॥
नामु वडाई सिरि करमां कीए ॥४॥
Nām vadā▫ī sir karmāʼn kī▫e. ||4||
He placed the glory of the Naam above these rituals. ||4||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ॥
सतिगुर कै वसि चारि पदारथ ॥
Saṯgur kai vas cẖār paḏārath.
The four great blessings are under the control of the True Guru.
|
ਤੀਨਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਏਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਾਰਥ ॥੫॥
तीनि समाए एक क्रितारथ ॥५॥
Ŧīn samā▫e ek kirṯārath. ||5||
When the first three are put aside, one is blessed with the fourth. ||5||
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਏ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਧਿਆਨਾਂ ॥
सतिगुरि दीए मुकति धिआनां ॥
Saṯgur ḏī▫e mukaṯ ḏẖi▫ānāʼn.
Those whom the True Guru blesses with liberation and meditation
|
ਹਰਿ ਪਦੁ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਭਏ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ॥੬॥
हरि पदु चीन्हि भए परधाना ॥६॥
Har paḏ cẖīnėh bẖa▫e parḏẖānā. ||6||
realize the Lord's State, and become sublime. ||6||
|
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
मनु तनु सीतलु गुरि बूझ बुझाई ॥
Man ṯan sīṯal gur būjẖ bujẖā▫ī.
Their minds and bodies are cooled and soothed; the Guru imparts this understanding.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਕਿਨਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
प्रभु निवाजे किनि कीमति पाई ॥७॥
Parabẖ nivāje kin kīmaṯ pā▫ī. ||7||
Who can estimate the value of those whom God has exalted? ||7||
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
कहु नानक गुरि बूझ बुझाई ॥
Kaho Nānak gur būjẖ bujẖā▫ī.
Says Nanak, the Guru has imparted this understanding;

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਗਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੮॥੬॥
नाम बिना गति किनै न पाई ॥८॥६॥
Nām binā gaṯ kinai na pā▫ī. ||8||6||
without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no one is emancipated. ||8||6||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
प्रभाती महला १ ॥
Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਇਕਿ ਧੁਰਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੀ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
इकि धुरि बखसि लए गुरि पूरै सची बणत बणाई ॥
Ik ḏẖur bakẖas la▫e gur pūrai sacẖī baṇaṯ baṇā▫ī.
Some are forgiven by the Primal Lord God; the Perfect Guru makes the true making.
|
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਸਰੇ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
हरि रंग राते सदा रंगु साचा दुख बिसरे पति पाई ॥१॥
Har rang rāṯe saḏā rang sācẖā ḏukẖ bisre paṯ pā▫ī. ||1||
Those who are attuned to the Love of the Lord are imbued with Truth forever; their pains are dispelled, and they obtain honor. ||1||
|
ਝੂਠੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥
झूठी दुरमति की चतुराई ॥
Jẖūṯẖī ḏurmaṯ kī cẖaṯurā▫ī.
False are the clever tricks of the evil-minded.
|
ਬਿਨਸਤ ਬਾਰ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
बिनसत बार न लागै काई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Binsaṯ bār na lāgai kā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
They shall disappear in no time at all. ||1||Pause||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਵਿਆਪਸਿ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
मनमुख कउ दुखु दरदु विआपसि मनमुखि दुखु न जाई ॥
Manmukẖ ka▫o ḏukẖ ḏaraḏ vi▫āpas manmukẖ ḏukẖ na jā▫ī.
Pain and suffering afflict the self-willed manmukh. The pains of the self-willed manmukh shall never depart.

ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥
सुख दुख दाता गुरमुखि जाता मेलि लए सरणाई ॥२॥
Sukẖ ḏukẖ ḏāṯā gurmukẖ jāṯā mel la▫e sarṇā▫ī. ||2||
The Gurmukh recognizes the Giver of pleasure and pain. He merges in His Sanctuary. ||2||
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਅਭ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਸਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਚਹਿ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥
मनमुख ते अभ भगति न होवसि हउमै पचहि दिवाने ॥
Manmukẖ ṯe abẖ bẖagaṯ na hovas ha▫umai pacẖėh ḏivāne.
The self-willed manmukhs do not know loving devotional worship; they are insane, rotting away in their egotism.

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਊਭਿ ਪਇਆਲੀ ਜਬ ਲਗਿ ਸਬਦ ਨ ਜਾਨੇ ॥੩॥
इहु मनूआ खिनु ऊभि पइआली जब लगि सबद न जाने ॥३॥
Ih manū▫ā kẖin ūbẖ pā▫i▫ālī jab lag sabaḏ na jāne. ||3||
This mind flies in an instant from the heavens to the underworld, as long as it does not know the Word of the Shabad. ||3||
|
ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਜਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਪਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਏ ॥
भूख पिआसा जगु भइआ तिपति नही बिनु सतिगुर पाए ॥
Bẖūkẖ pi▫āsā jag bẖa▫i▫ā ṯipaṯ nahī bin saṯgur pā▫e.
The world has become hungry and thirsty; without the True Guru, it is not satisfied.

ਸਹਜੈ ਸਹਜੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੪॥
सहजै सहजु मिलै सुखु पाईऐ दरगह पैधा जाए ॥४॥
Sahjai sahj milai sukẖ pā▫ī▫ai ḏargėh paiḏẖā jā▫e. ||4||
Merging intuitively in the Celestial Lord, peace is obtained, and one goes to the Lord's Court wearing robes of honor. ||4||

ਦਰਗਹ ਦਾਨਾ ਬੀਨਾ ਇਕੁ ਆਪੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
दरगह दाना बीना इकु आपे निरमल गुर की बाणी ॥
Ḏargėh ḏānā bīnā ik āpe nirmal gur kī baṇī.
The Lord in His Court is Himself the Knower and Seer; the Word of the Guru's Bani is Immaculate.

ਆਪੇ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਸਚੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਸਿ ਆਪੇ ਬੂਝੈ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੫॥
आपे सुरता सचु वीचारसि आपे बूझै पदु निरबाणी ॥५॥
Āpe surṯā sacẖ vīcẖāras āpe būjẖai paḏ nirbāṇī. ||5||
He Himself is the Awareness of Truth; He Himself understands the state of nirvaanaa. ||5||
|
ਜਲੁ ਤਰੰਗ ਅਗਨੀ ਪਵਨੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
जलु तरंग अगनी पवनै फुनि त्रै मिलि जगतु उपाइआ ॥
Jal ṯarang agnī pavnai fun ṯarai mil jagaṯ upā▫i▫ā.
He made the waves of water, the fire and the air, and then joined the three together to form the world.

ਐਸਾ ਬਲੁ ਛਲੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
ऐसा बलु छलु तिन कउ दीआ हुकमी ठाकि रहाइआ ॥६॥
Aisā bal cẖẖal ṯin ka▫o ḏī▫ā hukmī ṯẖāk rahā▫i▫ā. ||6||
He blessed these elements with such power, that they remain subject to His Command. ||6||
|
ਐਸੇ ਜਨ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜਗ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
ऐसे जन विरले जग अंदरि परखि खजानै पाइआ ॥
Aise jan virle jag anḏar parakẖ kẖajānai pā▫i▫ā.
How rare are those humble beings in this world, whom the Lord tests and places in His Treasury.

ਜਾਤਿ ਵਰਨ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਅਤੀਤਾ ਮਮਤਾ ਲੋਭੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
जाति वरन ते भए अतीता ममता लोभु चुकाइआ ॥७॥
Jāṯ varan ṯe bẖa▫e aṯīṯā mamṯā lobẖ cẖukā▫i▫ā. ||7||
They rise above social status and color, and rid themselves of possessiveness and greed. ||7||
|
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥
नामि रते तीरथ से निरमल दुखु हउमै मैलु चुकाइआ ॥
Nām raṯe ṯirath se nirmal ḏukẖ ha▫umai mail cẖukā▫i▫ā.
Attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, they are like immaculate sacred shrines; they are rid of the pain and pollution of egotism.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਖਾਲੈ ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੭॥
नानकु तिन के चरन पखालै जिना गुरमुखि साचा भाइआ ॥८॥७॥
Nānak ṯin ke cẖaran pakẖālai jinā gurmukẖ sācẖā bẖā▫i▫ā. ||8||7||
Nanak washes the feet of those who, as Gurmukh, love the True Lord. ||8||7||
