ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ
नानक की प्रभ बेनती प्रभ मिलहु परापति होइ ॥
Nānak kī parabẖ benṯī parabẖ milhu parāpaṯ ho▫e.
Nanak makes this prayer to God: "Please, come and unite me with Yourself".

ਵੈਸਾਖੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਤਾਂ ਲਗੈ ਜਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
वैसाखु सुहावा तां लगै जा संतु भेटै हरि सोइ ॥३॥
vaisākẖ suhāvā ṯāʼn lagai jā sanṯ bẖetai har so▫e. ||3||
The month of Vaisaakh is beautiful and pleasant, when the Saint causes me to meet the Lord. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਜੇਠਿ ਜੁੜੰਦਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਗੈ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਵੰਨਿ
हरि जेठि जुड़ंदा लोड़ीऐ जिसु अगै सभि निवंनि ॥
Har jeṯẖ juṛanḏā loṛī▫ai jis agai sabẖ nivann.
In the month of Jayt'h, the bride longs to meet with the Lord. All bow in humility before Him.

ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣ ਦਾਵਣਿ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇਈ ਬੰਨਿ
हरि सजण दावणि लगिआ किसै न देई बंनि ॥
Har sajaṇ ḏāvaṇ lagi▫ā kisai na ḏe▫ī bann.
One who has grasped the hem of the robe of the Lord, the True Friend-no one can keep him in bondage.

ਮਾਣਕ ਮੋਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਉਨ ਲਗੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੰਨਿ
माणक मोती नामु प्रभ उन लगै नाही संनि ॥
Māṇak moṯī nām parabẖ un lagai nāhī sann.
God's Name is the Jewel, the Pearl. It cannot be stolen or taken away.

ਰੰਗ ਸਭੇ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਜੇਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਨਿ
रंग सभे नाराइणै जेते मनि भावंनि ॥
Rang sabẖe nārā▫iṇai jeṯe man bẖāvann.
In the Lord are all pleasures which please the mind.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਲੋੜੇ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਜੀਅ ਕਰੰਨਿ
जो हरि लोड़े सो करे सोई जीअ करंनि ॥
Jo har loṛe so kare so▫ī jī▫a karann.
As the Lord wishes, so He acts, and so His creatures act.

ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਈ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ਧੰਨਿ
जो प्रभि कीते आपणे सेई कहीअहि धंनि ॥
Jo parabẖ kīṯe āpṇe se▫ī kahī▫ahi ḏẖan.
They alone are called blessed, whom God has made His Own.

ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਕਿਉ ਰੋਵੰਨਿ
आपण लीआ जे मिलै विछुड़ि किउ रोवंनि ॥
Āpaṇ lī▫ā je milai vicẖẖuṛ ki▫o rovann.
If people could meet the Lord by their own efforts, why would they be crying out in the pain of separation?

ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣੰਨਿ
साधू संगु परापते नानक रंग माणंनि ॥
Sāḏẖū sang parāpaṯe Nānak rang māṇan.
Meeting Him in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, O Nanak, celestial bliss is enjoyed.

ਹਰਿ ਜੇਠੁ ਰੰਗੀਲਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਧਣੀ ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਮਥੰਨਿ ॥੪॥
हरि जेठु रंगीला तिसु धणी जिस कै भागु मथंनि ॥४॥
Har jeṯẖ rangīlā ṯis ḏẖaṇī jis kai bẖāg mathann. ||4||
In the month of Jayt'h, the playful Husband Lord meets her, upon whose forehead such good destiny is recorded. ||4||

ਆਸਾੜੁ ਤਪੰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੁ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਪਾਸਿ
आसाड़ु तपंदा तिसु लगै हरि नाहु न जिंना पासि ॥
Āsāṛ ṯapanḏā ṯis lagai har nāhu na jinna pās.
The month of Aasaarh seems burning hot, to those who are not close to their Husband Lord.

ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਕੈ ਮਾਣਸ ਸੰਦੀ ਆਸ
जगजीवन पुरखु तिआगि कै माणस संदी आस ॥
Jagjīvan purakẖ ṯi▫āg kai māṇas sanḏī ās.
They have forsaken God the Primal Being, the Life of the World, and they have come to rely upon mere mortals.

ਦੁਯੈ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਗੁਚੀਐ ਗਲਿ ਪਈਸੁ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ
दुयै भाइ विगुचीऐ गलि पईसु जम की फास ॥
Ḏuyai bẖā▫e vigucẖī▫ai gal pa▫īs jam kī fās.
In the love of duality, the soul-bride is ruined; around her neck she wears the noose of Death.

ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਲੁਣੈ ਮਥੈ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆਸੁ
जेहा बीजै सो लुणै मथै जो लिखिआसु ॥
Jehā bījai so luṇai mathai jo likẖi▫ās.
As you plant, so shall you harvest; your destiny is recorded on your forehead.

ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੀ ਉਠਿ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ ਨਿਰਾਸ
रैणि विहाणी पछुताणी उठि चली गई निरास ॥
Raiṇ vihāṇī pacẖẖuṯāṇī uṯẖ cẖalī ga▫ī nirās.
The life-night passes away, and in the end, one comes to regret and repent, and then depart with no hope at all.

ਜਿਨ ਕੌ ਸਾਧੂ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਸੋ ਦਰਗਹ ਹੋਇ ਖਲਾਸੁ
जिन कौ साधू भेटीऐ सो दरगह होइ खलासु ॥
Jin kou sāḏẖū bẖetī▫ai so ḏargėh ho▫e kẖalās.
Those who meet with the Holy Saints are liberated in the Court of the Lord.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੋਇ ਪਿਆਸ
करि किरपा प्रभ आपणी तेरे दरसन होइ पिआस ॥
Kar kirpā parabẖ āpṇī ṯere ḏarsan ho▫e pi▫ās.
Show Your Mercy to me, O God; I am thirsty for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ
प्रभ तुधु बिनु दूजा को नही नानक की अरदासि ॥
Parabẖ ṯuḏẖ bin ḏūjā ko nahī Nānak kī arḏās.
Without You, God, there is no other at all. This is Nanak's humble prayer.

ਆਸਾੜੁ ਸੁਹੰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਲਗੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੫॥
आसाड़ु सुहंदा तिसु लगै जिसु मनि हरि चरण निवास ॥५॥
Āsāṛ suhanḏā ṯis lagai jis man har cẖaraṇ nivās. ||5||
The month of Aasaarh is pleasant, when the Feet of the Lord abide in the mind. ||5||

ਸਾਵਣਿ ਸਰਸੀ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਪਿਆਰੁ
सावणि सरसी कामणी चरन कमल सिउ पिआरु ॥
Sāvaṇ sarsī kāmṇī cẖaran kamal si▫o pi▫ār.
In the month of Saawan, the soul-bride is happy, if she falls in love with the Lotus Feet of the Lord.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਸਚ ਰੰਗਿ ਇਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ
मनु तनु रता सच रंगि इको नामु अधारु ॥
Man ṯan raṯā sacẖ rang iko nām aḏẖār.
Her mind and body are imbued with the Love of the True One; His Name is her only Support.

ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰੰਗ ਕੂੜਾਵਿਆ ਦਿਸਨਿ ਸਭੇ ਛਾਰੁ
बिखिआ रंग कूड़ाविआ दिसनि सभे छारु ॥
Bikẖi▫ā rang kūṛāvi▫ā ḏisan sabẖe cẖẖār.
The pleasures of corruption are false. All that is seen shall turn to ashes.

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਪੀਵਣਹਾਰੁ
हरि अम्रित बूंद सुहावणी मिलि साधू पीवणहारु ॥
Har amriṯ būnḏ suhāvaṇī mil sāḏẖū pīvaṇhār.
The drops of the Lord's Nectar are so beautiful! Meeting the Holy Saint, we drink these in.

ਵਣੁ ਤਿਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸੰਮ੍ਰਥ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਪਾਰੁ
वणु तिणु प्रभ संगि मउलिआ सम्रथ पुरख अपारु ॥
vaṇ ṯiṇ parabẖ sang ma▫oli▫ā samrath purakẖ apār.
The forests and the meadows are rejuvenated and refreshed with the Love of God, the All-powerful, Infinite Primal Being.

ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਣੈ ਨੋ ਮਨੁ ਲੋਚਦਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ
हरि मिलणै नो मनु लोचदा करमि मिलावणहारु ॥
Har milṇai no man locẖḏā karam milāvaṇhār.
My mind yearns to meet the Lord. If only He would show His Mercy, and unite me with Himself!

ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੰਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ
जिनी सखीए प्रभु पाइआ हंउ तिन कै सद बलिहार ॥
Jinī sakẖī▫e parabẖ pā▫i▫ā haʼn▫u ṯin kai saḏ balihār.
Those brides who have obtained God-I am forever a sacrifice to them.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜੀ ਮਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ
नानक हरि जी मइआ करि सबदि सवारणहारु ॥
Nānak har jī ma▫i▫ā kar sabaḏ savāraṇhār.
O Nanak, when the Dear Lord shows kindness, He adorns His bride with the Word of His Shabad.

ਸਾਵਣੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਸੁਹਾਗਣੀ ਜਿਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰਿ ਹਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
सावणु तिना सुहागणी जिन राम नामु उरि हारु ॥६॥
Sāvaṇ ṯinā suhāgaṇī jin rām nām ur hār. ||6||
Saawan is delightful for those happy soul-brides whose hearts are adorned with the Necklace of the Lord's Name. ||6||

ਭਾਦੁਇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗਾ ਹੇਤੁ
भादुइ भरमि भुलाणीआ दूजै लगा हेतु ॥
Bẖāḏu▫e bẖaram bẖulāṇī▫ā ḏūjai lagā heṯ.
In the month of Bhaadon, she is deluded by doubt, because of her attachment to duality.

ਲਖ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਜਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੇਤੁ
लख सीगार बणाइआ कारजि नाही केतु ॥
Lakẖ sīgār baṇā▫i▫ā kāraj nāhī keṯ.
She may wear thousands of ornaments, but they are of no use at all.

ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਨਸਸੀ ਤਿਤੁ ਵੇਲੈ ਕਹਸਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੁ
जितु दिनि देह बिनससी तितु वेलै कहसनि प्रेतु ॥
Jiṯ ḏin ḏeh binsasī ṯiṯ velai kahsan pareṯ.
On that day when the body perishes-at that time, she becomes a ghost.

ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਨਿ ਦੂਤ ਜਮ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇਨੀ ਭੇਤੁ
पकड़ि चलाइनि दूत जम किसै न देनी भेतु ॥
Pakaṛ cẖalā▫in ḏūṯ jam kisai na ḏenī bẖeṯ.
The Messenger of Death seizes and holds her, and does not tell anyone his secret.

ਛਡਿ ਖੜੋਤੇ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਾਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਗਾ ਹੇਤੁ
छडि खड़ोते खिनै माहि जिन सिउ लगा हेतु ॥
Cẖẖad kẖaṛoṯe kẖinai māhi jin si▫o lagā heṯ.
And her loved ones-in an instant, they move on, leaving her all alone.

ਹਥ ਮਰੋੜੈ ਤਨੁ ਕਪੇ ਸਿਆਹਹੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੇਤੁ
हथ मरोड़ै तनु कपे सिआहहु होआ सेतु ॥
Hath maroṛai ṯan kape si▫āhhu ho▫ā seṯ.
She wrings her hands, her body writhes in pain, and she turns from black to white.

ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋ ਲੁਣੈ ਕਰਮਾ ਸੰਦੜਾ ਖੇਤੁ
जेहा बीजै सो लुणै करमा संदड़ा खेतु ॥
Jehā bījai so luṇai karmā sanḏ▫ṛā kẖeṯ.
As she has planted, so does she harvest; such is the field of karma.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਚਰਣ ਬੋਹਿਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਤੁ
नानक प्रभ सरणागती चरण बोहिथ प्रभ देतु ॥
Nānak parabẖ sarṇāgaṯī cẖaraṇ bohith parabẖ ḏeṯ.
Nanak seeks God's Sanctuary; God has given him the Boat of His Feet.

ਸੇ ਭਾਦੁਇ ਨਰਕਿ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਖਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੇਤੁ ॥੭॥
से भादुइ नरकि न पाईअहि गुरु रखण वाला हेतु ॥७॥
Se bẖāḏu▫e narak na pā▫ī▫ah gur rakẖaṇ vālā heṯ. ||7||
Those who love the Guru, the Protector and Savior, in Bhaadon, shall not be thrown down into hell. ||7||

ਅਸੁਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਮਾਹੜਾ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਇ
असुनि प्रेम उमाहड़ा किउ मिलीऐ हरि जाइ ॥
Asun parem umāhṛā ki▫o milī▫ai har jā▫e.
In the month of Assu, my love for the Lord overwhelms me. How can I go and meet the Lord?
