ਗਾਵਤ ਸੁਨਤ ਦੋਊ ਭਏ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੀਕ ॥੧॥
गावत सुनत दोऊ भए मुकते जिना गुरमुखि खिनु हरि पीक ॥१॥
Gaavaṫ sunaṫ ḋo▫oo bʰa▫é mukṫé jinaa gurmukʰ kʰin har peek. ||1||
Both the singer and hearer are emancipated who in-drink the God’s Name-elixir; even for a moment, by the Guru’s grace.

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਟੀਕ ॥
मेरै मनि हरि हरि राम नामु रसु टीक ॥
Méræ man har har raam naam ras teek.
Within my mind is enshrined the Nectar of the Lord God Master’s Name.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੀਤਲ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੀਆ ਰਸੁ ਝੀਕ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमुखि नामु सीतल जलु पाइआ हरि हरि नामु पीआ रसु झीक ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmukʰ naam seeṫal jal paa▫i▫aa har har naam pee▫aa ras jʰeek. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
By the Guru’s grace, I have attained the refreshing Nectar of the Name. The Nectar of the Lord God’s Name, I now incessantly in-drink. Pause.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਗਾਨੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਊਜਲ ਟੀਕ ॥
जिन हरि हिरदै प्रीति लगानी तिना मसतकि ऊजल टीक ॥
Jin har hirḋæ pareeṫ lagaanee ṫinaa masṫak oojal teek.
They, whose mind is permeated with God’s love, their forehead is anointed with the pure frontal mark.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਿਉ ਵਿਚਿ ਉਡਵਾ ਸਸਿ ਕੀਕ ॥੨॥
हरि जन सोभा सभ जग ऊपरि जिउ विचि उडवा ससि कीक ॥२॥
Har jan sobʰaa sabʰ jag oopar ji▫o vich udvaa sas keek. ||2||
The magnificence of the Lord’s slave is manifest all the world over, as is of the moon amidst the stars.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸਿਓ ਤਿਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਜ ਫੀਕ ॥
जिन हरि हिरदै नामु न वसिओ तिन सभि कारज फीक ॥
Jin har hirḋæ naam na vasi▫o ṫin sabʰ kaaraj feek.
They, within whose mind the God’s Name abides not, insipid are all their affairs.

ਜੈਸੇ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਦੇਹ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਕਟੇ ਨਕ ਕੀਕ ॥੩॥
जैसे सीगारु करै देह मानुख नाम बिना नकटे नक कीक ॥३॥
Jæsé seegaar karæ ḋéh maanukʰ naam binaa nakté nak keek. ||3||
Without the name, embellishments of men’s body are as vain as that of a nose-shorn person, whose the Lord has make without o nose.

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਰਮਤ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਇ ਸਭ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਈਕ ॥
घटि घटि रमईआ रमत राम राइ सभ वरतै सभ महि ईक ॥
Gʰat gʰat rama▫ee▫aa ramaṫ raam raa▫é sabʰ varṫæ sabʰ mėh eek.
In every heart and each and all beings, the One All-pervading Lord Master, the King, is contained.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਘਰੀ ਮੀਕ ॥੪॥੩॥
जन नानक कउ हरि किरपा धारी गुर बचन धिआइओ घरी मीक ॥४॥३॥
Jan Naanak ka▫o har kirpaa ḋʰaaree gur bachan ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫o gʰaree meek. ||4||3||
God has shown mercy unto slave Nanak and by the Guru’s instructions, he now contemplates his God every moment.

ਅਗਮ ਦਇਆਲ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮ ਕਹੇ ॥
अगम दइआल क्रिपा प्रभि धारी मुखि हरि हरि नामु हम कहे ॥
Agam ḋa▫i▫aal kirpaa parabʰ ḋʰaaree mukʰ har har naam ham kahé.
My Unfathomable and Compassionate God, the Lord Master has shown mercy unto me and I now utter His Name with my mouth.

ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਓ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਲਹੇ ॥੧॥
पतित पावन हरि नामु धिआइओ सभि किलबिख पाप लहे ॥१॥
Paṫiṫ paavan har naam ḋʰi▫aa▫i▫o sabʰ kilbikʰ paap lahé. ||1||
I meditate on the Name of God, the Purifier of sinner and am rid of all my misdeeds and sins.

ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ॥
जपि मन राम नामु रवि रहे ॥
Jap man raam naam rav rahé.
O my soul, utter thou the Name of the All-pervading Lord.
|
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗਾਇਓ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਲਹੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
दीन दइआलु दुख भंजनु गाइओ गुरमति नामु पदारथु लहे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḋeen ḋa▫i▫aal ḋukʰ bʰanjan gaa▫i▫o gurmaṫ naam paḋaaraṫʰ lahé. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
I sing the praises of the Lord, Merciful to the meek and the Destroyer of pain and by the Guru’s instructions, gather the wealth of His Name. Pause.

ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰਿ ਨਗਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਓ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਹੇ ॥
काइआ नगरि नगरि हरि बसिओ मति गुरमति हरि हरि सहे ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa nagar nagar har basi▫o maṫ gurmaṫ har har sahé.
In the hamlet or Township of the body abides the Lord and through the counsel, counsel of the Guru, the Lord God becomes manifest.

ਸਰੀਰਿ ਸਰੋਵਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਘਰਿ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਹੇ ॥੨॥
सरीरि सरोवरि नामु हरि प्रगटिओ घरि मंदरि हरि प्रभु लहे ॥२॥
Sareer sarovar naam har pargati▫o gʰar manḋar har parabʰ lahé. ||2||
In the body pool, God’s Name has become manifest and within my home palace, I have obtained my Lord God.

ਜੋ ਨਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਉਦਿਆਨੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਹੇ ॥
जो नर भरमि भरमि उदिआने ते साकत मूड़ मुहे ॥
Jo nar bʰaram bʰaram uḋi▫aané ṫé saakaṫ mooṛ muhé.
The men who wander in the wilderness of doubt, those perverse and foolish ones are pillaged and plundered.

ਜਿਉ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਨਾਭਿ ਬਸੈ ਬਾਸੁ ਬਸਨਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿਓ ਝਾਰ ਗਹੇ ॥੩॥
जिउ म्रिग नाभि बसै बासु बसना भ्रमि भ्रमिओ झार गहे ॥३॥
Ji▫o marig naabʰ basæ baas basnaa bʰaram bʰarmi▫o jʰaar gahé. ||3||
They are like the deer, within whose navel abides the fragrant muck, but, who through doubt, roams and beats about the bushes.

ਤੁਮ ਵਡ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲਹੇ ॥
तुम वड अगम अगाधि बोधि प्रभ मति देवहु हरि प्रभ लहे ॥
Ṫum vad agam agaaḋʰ boḋʰ parabʰ maṫ ḋévhu har parabʰ lahé.
Thou, O God, the Lord Master, are great and Unapproachable and Thy comprehension is unfathomable. Bless me with wisdom that I may attain unto Thee.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ॥੪॥੪॥
जन नानक कउ गुरि हाथु सिरि धरिओ हरि राम नामि रवि रहे ॥४॥४॥
Jan Naanak ka▫o gur haaṫʰ sir ḋʰari▫o har raam naam rav rahé. ||4||4||
The Guru has placed his hand on the head of serf Nanak and he now utters ever the Name of His Lord God.

ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਵਡਫਾ ॥
मनि लागी प्रीति राम नाम हरि हरि जपिओ हरि प्रभु वडफा ॥
Man laagee pareeṫ raam naam har har japi▫o har parabʰ vadfaa.
My mind is in love with the Lord’s Name and contemplate, I, my Lord, God, yea, the great Lord God Master.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਖਾਨੇ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਫਾ ॥੧॥
सतिगुर बचन सुखाने हीअरै हरि धारी हरि प्रभ क्रिपफा ॥१॥
Saṫgur bachan sukʰaané hee▫aræ har ḋʰaaree har parabʰ kirpfaa. ||1||
God, yea, the Lord God has taken pity on me and the True Guru’s word has become pleasing to my mind.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਖਫਾ ॥
मेरे मन भजु राम नाम हरि निमखफा ॥
Méré man bʰaj raam naam har nimkʰafaa.
O my soul, moment, utter thou the Name of thy Lord God.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਸਫਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
हरि हरि दानु दीओ गुरि पूरै हरि नामा मनि तनि बसफा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Har har ḋaan ḋee▫o gur pooræ har naamaa man ṫan basfaa. ||1|| rahaa▫o.
The perfect Guru has blest me with the gift of Lord’s Name and the Lord’s Name abides within my mind and body. Pause.
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰਿ ਵਸਿਓ ਘਰਿ ਮੰਦਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਪਫਾ ॥
काइआ नगरि वसिओ घरि मंदरि जपि सोभा गुरमुखि करपफा ॥
Kaa▫i▫aa nagar vasi▫o gʰar manḋar jap sobʰaa gurmukʰ karpafaa.
God dwells in the abode and palace of the body township and, by the Guru’s grace, I dwell upon His meditation and praise.

ਹਲਤਿ ਪਲਤਿ ਜਨ ਭਏ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਰਫਾ ॥੨॥
हलति पलति जन भए सुहेले मुख ऊजल गुरमुखि तरफा ॥२॥
Halaṫ palaṫ jan bʰa▫é suhélé mukʰ oojal gurmukʰ ṫarfaa. ||2||
In the world, here and hereafter God’s slaves are embellished, their faces become bright and, by the Guru’s grace, they are ferried across.

ਅਨਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਮਖਫਾ ॥
अनभउ हरि हरि हरि लिव लागी हरि उर धारिओ गुरि निमखफा ॥
Anbʰa▫o har har har liv laagee har ur ḋʰaari▫o gur nimkʰafaa.
I am attuned to my Lord Master, the Fearless God and, through the Guru, I have enshrined the Lord within my mind, in a moment.

ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੇ ਦੋਖ ਸਭ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਇਕ ਪਲਫਾ ॥੩॥
कोटि कोटि के दोख सभ जन के हरि दूरि कीए इक पलफा ॥३॥
Kot kot ké ḋokʰ sabʰ jan ké har ḋoor kee▫é ik palfaa. ||3||
All the sins of millions and millions of births of his saint, the Lord washes off in an instant.

ਤੁਮਰੇ ਜਨ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਜਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਜਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਖਫਾ ॥
तुमरे जन तुम ही ते जाने प्रभ जानिओ जन ते मुखफा ॥
Ṫumré jan ṫum hee ṫé jaané parabʰ jaani▫o jan ṫé mukʰfaa.
Thine saints, O Lord, are known through Thee. As they realise their Lord, they become supreme amongst men.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਇਕਫਾ ॥੪॥੫॥
हरि हरि आपु धरिओ हरि जन महि जन नानकु हरि प्रभु इकफा ॥४॥५॥
Har har aap ḋʰari▫o har jan mėh jan Naanak har parabʰ ikfaa. ||4||5||
God, the Lord God has placed His ownself in His slave. As such, His slave and the Lord God are one and the same, O Nanak.
