ਹੀਣੌ ਨੀਚੁ ਬੁਰੌ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੁ
हीणौ नीचु बुरौ बुरिआरु ॥
Hīṇou nīcẖ burou buri▫ār.
the lowest of the low, the worst of the worst.

ਨੀਧਨ ਕੌ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ
नीधन कौ धनु नामु पिआरु ॥
Nīḏẖan kou ḏẖan nām pi▫ār.
I am poor, but I have the Wealth of Your Name, O my Beloved.

ਇਹੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
इहु धनु सारु होरु बिखिआ छारु ॥४॥
Ih ḏẖan sār hor bikẖi▫ā cẖẖār. ||4||
This is the most excellent wealth; all else is poison and ashes. ||4||

ਉਸਤਤਿ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ
उसतति निंदा सबदु वीचारु ॥
Usṯaṯ ninḏā sabaḏ vīcẖār.
I pay no attention to slander and praise; I contemplate the Word of the Shabad.

ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ
जो देवै तिस कउ जैकारु ॥
Jo ḏevai ṯis ka▫o jaikār.
I celebrate the One who blesses me with His Bounty.

ਤੂ ਬਖਸਹਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ
तू बखसहि जाति पति होइ ॥
Ŧū bakẖsahi jāṯ paṯ ho▫e.
Whomever You forgive, O Lord, is blessed with status and honor.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੫॥੧੨॥
नानकु कहै कहावै सोइ ॥५॥१२॥
Nānak kahai kahāvai so▫e. ||5||12||
Says Nanak, I speak as He causes me to speak. ||5||12||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ
प्रभाती महला १ ॥
Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਖਾਇਆ ਮੈਲੁ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਪੈਧੈ ਘਰ ਕੀ ਹਾਣਿ
खाइआ मैलु वधाइआ पैधै घर की हाणि ॥
Kẖā▫i▫ā mail vaḏẖā▫i▫ā paiḏẖai gẖar kī hāṇ.
Eating too much, one's filth only increases; wearing fancy clothes, one's home is disgraced.

ਬਕਿ ਬਕਿ ਵਾਦੁ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਣਿ ॥੧॥
बकि बकि वादु चलाइआ बिनु नावै बिखु जाणि ॥१॥
Bak bak vāḏ cẖalā▫i▫ā bin nāvai bikẖ jāṇ. ||1||
Talking too much, one only starts arguments. Without the Name, everything is poison - know this well. ||1||

ਬਾਬਾ ਐਸਾ ਬਿਖਮ ਜਾਲਿ ਮਨੁ ਵਾਸਿਆ
बाबा ऐसा बिखम जालि मनु वासिआ ॥
Bābā aisā bikẖam jāl man vāsi▫ā.
O Baba, such is the treacherous trap which has caught my mind;

ਬਿਬਲੁ ਝਾਗਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
बिबलु झागि सहजि परगासिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Bibal jẖāg sahj pargāsi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
riding out the waves of the storm, it will be enlightened by intuitive wisdom. ||1||Pause||

ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਇ
बिखु खाणा बिखु बोलणा बिखु की कार कमाइ ॥
Bikẖ kẖāṇā bikẖ bolṇā bikẖ kī kār kamā▫e.
They eat poison, speak poison and do poisonous deeds.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੨॥
जम दरि बाधे मारीअहि छूटसि साचै नाइ ॥२॥
Jam ḏar bāḏẖe mārī▫ah cẖẖūtas sācẖai nā▫e. ||2||
Bound and gagged at Death's door, they are punished; they can be saved only through the True Name. ||2||

ਜਿਵ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਵ ਜਾਇਸੀ ਕੀਆ ਲਿਖਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ
जिव आइआ तिव जाइसी कीआ लिखि लै जाइ ॥
Jiv ā▫i▫ā ṯiv jā▫isī kī▫ā likẖ lai jā▫e.
As they come, they go. Their actions are recorded, and go along with them.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
मनमुखि मूलु गवाइआ दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥३॥
Manmukẖ mūl gavā▫i▫ā ḏargėh milai sajā▫e. ||3||
The self-willed manmukh loses his capital, and is punished in the Court of the Lord. ||3||

ਜਗੁ ਖੋਟੌ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੌ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀਂ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ
जगु खोटौ सचु निरमलौ गुर सबदीं वीचारि ॥
Jag kẖotou sacẖ nirmalou gur sabḏīʼn vīcẖār.
The world is false and polluted; only the True One is Pure. Contemplate Him through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਤੇ ਨਰ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੪॥
ते नर विरले जाणीअहि जिन अंतरि गिआनु मुरारि ॥४॥
Ŧe nar virle jāṇī▫ahi jin anṯar gi▫ān murār. ||4||
Those who have God's spiritual wisdom within, are known to be very rare. ||4||

ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰੈ ਨੀਝਰੁ ਝਰੈ ਅਮਰ ਅਨੰਦ ਸਰੂਪ
अजरु जरै नीझरु झरै अमर अनंद सरूप ॥
Ajar jarai nījẖar jẖarai amar anand sarūp.
They endure the unendurable, and the Nectar of the Lord, the Embodiment of Bliss, trickles into them continuously.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਲ ਕੌ ਮੀਨੁ ਸੈ ਥੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੫॥੧੩॥
नानकु जल कौ मीनु सै थे भावै राखहु प्रीति ॥५॥१३॥
Nānak jal kou mīn sai the bẖāvai rākẖo parīṯ. ||5||13||
O Nanak, the fish is in love with the water; if it pleases You, Lord, please enshrine such love within me. ||5||13||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ
प्रभाती महला १ ॥
Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਗੀਤ ਨਾਦ ਹਰਖ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ
गीत नाद हरख चतुराई ॥
Gīṯ nāḏ harakẖ cẖaṯurā▫ī.
Songs, sounds, pleasures and clever tricks;

ਰਹਸ ਰੰਗ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਸਿ ਕਾਈ
रहस रंग फुरमाइसि काई ॥
Rahas rang furmā▫is kā▫ī.
joy, love and the power to command;

ਪੈਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਣੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਚੀਤਿ ਪਾਈ
पैन्हणु खाणा चीति न पाई ॥
Painĥaṇ kẖāṇā cẖīṯ na pā▫ī.
fine clothes and food - these have no place in one's consciousness.

ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥੧॥
साचु सहजु सुखु नामि वसाई ॥१॥
Sācẖ sahj sukẖ nām vasā▫ī. ||1||
True intuitive peace and poise rest in the Naam. ||1||

ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਕਰਾਵੈ
किआ जानां किआ करै करावै ॥
Ki▫ā jānāʼn ki▫ā karai karāvai.
What do I know about what God does?

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਤਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੁਖਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
नाम बिना तनि किछु न सुखावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nām binā ṯan kicẖẖ na sukẖāvai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, nothing makes my body feel good. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋਗ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਸ੍ਵਾਦ ਆਨੰਦਾ
जोग बिनोद स्वाद आनंदा ॥
Jog binoḏ savāḏ ānanḏā.
Yoga, thrills, delicious flavors and ecstasy;

ਮਤਿ ਸਤ ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦਾ
मति सत भाइ भगति गोबिंदा ॥
Maṯ saṯ bẖā▫e bẖagaṯ gobinḏā.
wisdom, truth and love all come from devotion to the Lord of the Universe.

ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਾਰ ਨਿਜ ਸੰਦਾ
कीरति करम कार निज संदा ॥
Kīraṯ karam kār nij sanḏā.
My own occupation is to work to praise the Lord.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਤੌ ਰਾਜ ਰਵਿੰਦਾ ॥੨॥
अंतरि रवतौ राज रविंदा ॥२॥
Anṯar ravṯou rāj ravinḏā. ||2||
Deep within, I dwell on the Lord of the sun and the moon. ||2||

ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ
प्रिउ प्रिउ प्रीति प्रेमि उर धारी ॥
Pari▫o pari▫o parīṯ parem ur ḏẖārī.
I have lovingly enshrined the love of my Beloved within my heart.

ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥੁ ਪੀਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ
दीना नाथु पीउ बनवारी ॥
Ḏīnā nāth pī▫o banvārī.
My Husband Lord, the Lord of the World, is the Master of the meek and the poor.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਬ੍ਰਤਕਾਰੀ
अनदिनु नामु दानु ब्रतकारी ॥
An▫ḏin nām ḏān baraṯkārī.
Night and day, the Naam is my giving in charity and fasting.

ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਤਰੰਗ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
त्रिपति तरंग ततु बीचारी ॥३॥
Ŧaripaṯ ṯarang ṯaṯ bīcẖārī. ||3||
The waves have subsided, contemplating the essence of reality. ||3||

ਅਕਥੌ ਕਥਉ ਕਿਆ ਮੈ ਜੋਰੁ
अकथौ कथउ किआ मै जोरु ॥
Akthou katha▫o ki▫ā mai jor.
What power do I have to speak the Unspoken?

ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਕਰਾਇਹਿ ਮੋਰ
भगति करी कराइहि मोर ॥
Bẖagaṯ karī karā▫ihi mor.
I worship You with devotion; You inspire me to do so.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਚੂਕੈ ਮੈ ਮੋਰ
अंतरि वसै चूकै मै मोर ॥
Anṯar vasai cẖūkai mai mor.
You dwell deep within; my egotism is dispelled.

ਕਿਸੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥੪॥
किसु सेवी दूजा नही होरु ॥४॥
Kis sevī ḏūjā nahī hor. ||4||
So whom should I serve? There is no other than You. ||4||

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ
गुर का सबदु महा रसु मीठा ॥
Gur kā sabaḏ mahā ras mīṯẖā.
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is utterly sweet and sublime.

ਐਸਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਡੀਠਾ
ऐसा अम्रितु अंतरि डीठा ॥
Aisā amriṯ anṯar dīṯẖā.
Such is the Ambrosial Nectar I see deep within.

ਜਿਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਹੋਇ
जिनि चाखिआ पूरा पदु होइ ॥
Jin cẖākẖi▫ā pūrā paḏ ho▫e.
Those who taste this, attain the state of perfection.

ਨਾਨਕ ਧ੍ਰਾਪਿਓ ਤਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥੧੪॥
नानक ध्रापिओ तनि सुखु होइ ॥५॥१४॥
Nānak ḏẖarāpi▫o ṯan sukẖ ho▫e. ||5||14||
O Nanak, they are satisfied, and their bodies are at peace. ||5||14||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ
प्रभाती महला १ ॥

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਅਵਰੁ ਰਾਂਗਨਹਾਰਾ
अंतरि देखि सबदि मनु मानिआ अवरु न रांगनहारा ॥
Anṯar ḏekẖ sabaḏ man māni▫ā avar na rāʼnganhārā.
Deep within, I see the Shabad, the Word of God; my mind is pleased and appeased. Nothing else can touch and imbue me.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜੀਆ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਸਰਕਾਰਾ ॥੧॥
अहिनिसि जीआ देखि समाले तिस ही की सरकारा ॥१॥
Ahinis jī▫ā ḏekẖ samāle ṯis hī kī sarkārā. ||1||
Day and night, God watches over and cares for His beings and creatures; He is the Ruler of all. ||1||

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਾਂਗਿ ਘਣੌ ਅਤਿ ਰੂੜੌ
मेरा प्रभु रांगि घणौ अति रूड़ौ ॥
Merā parabẖ rāʼng gẖaṇou aṯ rūṛou.
My God is dyed in the most beautiful and glorious color.

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਨਮੋਹਨੁ ਅਤਿ ਰਸ ਲਾਲ ਸਗੂੜੌ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
दीन दइआलु प्रीतम मनमोहनु अति रस लाल सगूड़ौ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Ḏīn ḏa▫i▫āl parīṯam manmohan aṯ ras lāl sagūṛou. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Merciful to the meek and the poor, my Beloved is the Enticer of the mind; He is so very sweet, imbued with the deep crimson color of His Love. ||1||Pause||

ਊਪਰਿ ਕੂਪੁ ਗਗਨ ਪਨਿਹਾਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਣਹਾਰਾ
ऊपरि कूपु गगन पनिहारी अम्रितु पीवणहारा ॥
Ūpar kūp gagan panihārī amriṯ pīvaṇhārā.
The Well is high up in the Tenth Gate; the Ambrosial Nectar flows, and I drink it in.

ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਸੋ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
जिस की रचना सो बिधि जाणै गुरमुखि गिआनु वीचारा ॥२॥
Jis kī racẖnā so biḏẖ jāṇai gurmukẖ gi▫ān vīcẖārā. ||2||
The creation is His; He alone knows its ways and means. The Gurmukh contemplates spiritual wisdom. ||2||
