ਆਪੇ ਖੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਰਤਾ ਐਸਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
Āpe kẖel kare sabẖ karṯā aisā būjẖai ko▫ī. ||3||
The Creator Himself plays all the games; only a few understand this. ||3||

ਨਾਉ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਛੋਡਹੁ ਦੁਨੀ ਪਰੀਤਾ
Nā▫o parbẖāṯai sabaḏ ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai cẖẖodahu ḏunī parīṯā.
Meditate on the Name, and the Word of the Shabad, in the early hours before dawn; leave your worldly entanglements behind.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਜਗਿ ਹਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਜੀਤਾ ॥੪॥੯॥
Paraṇvaṯ Nānak ḏāsan ḏāsā jag hāri▫ā ṯin jīṯā. ||4||9||
Prays Nanak, the slave of God's slaves: the world loses, and he wins. ||4||9||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ
Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਮਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਧਾਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਪੰਖੀ ਆਕਾਸਿ
Man mā▫i▫ā man ḏẖā▫i▫ā man pankẖī ākās.
The mind is Maya, the mind is a chaser; the mind is a bird flying across the sky.

ਤਸਕਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਆ ਨਗਰੁ ਵੁਠਾ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ
Ŧaskar sabaḏ nivāri▫ā nagar vuṯẖā sābās.
The thieves are overpowered by the Shabad, and then the body-village prospers and celebrates.

ਜਾ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥
Jā ṯū rākẖahi rākẖ laihi sābaṯ hovai rās. ||1||
Lord, when You save someone, he is saved; his capital is safe and sound. ||1||

ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਮੇਰੈ
Aisā nām raṯan niḏẖ merai.
Such is my Treasure, the Jewel of the Naam;

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਲਗਉ ਪਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
Gurmaṯ ḏėh laga▫o pag ṯerai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
please bless me with the Guru's Teachings, so that I may fall at Your Feet. ||1||Pause||

ਮਨੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਮਨੁ ਭੋਗੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਗਾਵਾਰੁ
Man jogī man bẖogī▫ā man mūrakẖ gāvār.
The mind is a Yogi, the mind is a pleasure-seeker; the mind is foolish and ignorant.

ਮਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਮਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ
Man ḏāṯā man mangṯā man sir gur karṯār.
The mind is the giver, the mind is the beggar; the mind is the Great Guru, the Creator.

ਪੰਚ ਮਾਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਐਸਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Pancẖ mār sukẖ pā▫i▫ā aisā barahm vīcẖār. ||2||
The five thieves are conquered, and peace is attained; such is the contemplative wisdom of God. ||2||

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਕਹਉ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ
Gẖat gẖat ek vakẖāṇī▫ai kaha▫o na ḏekẖi▫ā jā▫e.
The One Lord is said to be in each and every heart, but no one can see Him.

ਖੋਟੋ ਪੂਠੋ ਰਾਲੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਪਤਿ ਜਾਇ
Kẖoto pūṯẖo rālī▫ai bin nāvai paṯ jā▫e.
The false are cast upside-down into the womb of reincarnation; without the Name, they lose their honor.

ਜਾ ਤੂ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਤਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੩॥
Jā ṯū melėh ṯā mil rahāʼn jāʼn ṯerī ho▫e rajā▫e. ||3||
Those whom You unite, remain united, if it is Your Will. ||3||

ਜਾਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨਹ ਪੂਛੀਐ ਸਚ ਘਰੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਬਤਾਇ
Jāṯ janam nah pūcẖẖī▫ai sacẖ gẖar leho baṯā▫e.
God does not ask about social class or birth; you must find your true home.

ਸਾ ਜਾਤਿ ਸਾ ਪਤਿ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ
Sā jāṯ sā paṯ hai jehe karam kamā▫e.
That is your social class and that is your status - the karma of what you have done.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਛੂਟਸਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
Janam maran ḏukẖ kātī▫ai Nānak cẖẖūtas nā▫e. ||4||10||
The pains of death and rebirth are eradicated; O Nanak, salvation is in the Lord's Name. ||4||10||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ
Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਜਾਗਤੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਮੂਠੋ ਅੰਧਾ
Jāgaṯ bigsai mūṯẖo anḏẖā.
He is awake, and even happy, but he is being plundered - he is blind!

ਗਲਿ ਫਾਹੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਧੰਧਾ
Gal fāhī sir māre ḏẖanḏẖā.
The noose is around his neck, and yet, his head is busy with worldly affairs.

ਆਸਾ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਸਾ ਜਾਇ
Āsā āvai mansā jā▫e.
In hope, he comes and in desire, he leaves.

ਉਰਝੀ ਤਾਣੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਸਾਇ ॥੧॥
Urjẖī ṯāṇī kicẖẖ na basā▫e. ||1||
The strings of his life are all tangled up; he is utterly helpless. ||1||

ਜਾਗਸਿ ਜੀਵਣ ਜਾਗਣਹਾਰਾ
Jāgas jīvaṇ jāgaṇhārā.
The Lord of Awareness, the Lord of Life is awake and aware.

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
Sukẖ sāgar amriṯ bẖandārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He is the Ocean of peace, the Treasure of Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||

ਕਹਿਓ ਬੂਝੈ ਅੰਧੁ ਸੂਝੈ ਭੋਂਡੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ
Kahi▫o na būjẖai anḏẖ na sūjẖai bẖoʼndī kār kamā▫ī.
He does not understand what he is told; he is blind - he does not see, and so he does his evil deeds.

ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੨॥
Āpe parīṯ parem parmesur karmī milai vadā▫ī. ||2||
The Transcendent Lord Himself showers His Love and Affection; by His Grace, He bestows glorious greatness. ||2||

ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਛੀਜੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਘਟਾਈ
Ḏin ḏin āvai ṯil ṯil cẖẖījai mā▫i▫ā moh gẖatā▫ī.
With the coming of each and every day, his life is wearing away, bit by bit; but still, his heart is attached to Maya.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਡੋ ਠਉਰ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਬ ਲਗ ਦੂਜੀ ਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
Bin gur būdo ṯẖa▫ur na pāvai jab lag ḏūjī rā▫ī. ||3||
Without the Guru, he is drowned, and finds no place of rest, as long as he is caught in duality. ||3||

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਜੀਆ ਦੇਖਿ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪੁਰਬਿ ਕਮਾਈ
Ahinis jī▫ā ḏekẖ samĥālai sukẖ ḏukẖ purab kamā▫ī.
Day and night, God watches over and takes care of His living beings; they receive pleasure and pain according to their past actions.

ਕਰਮਹੀਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
Karamhīṇ sacẖ bẖīkẖi▫ā māʼngai Nānak milai vadā▫ī. ||4||11||
Nanak, the unfortunate one, begs for the charity of Truth; please bless him with this glory. ||4||11||

ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ
Parbẖāṯī mėhlā 1.
Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਮਸਟਿ ਕਰਉ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਜਗਿ ਕਹੀਆ
Masat kara▫o mūrakẖ jag kahī▫ā.
If I remain silent, the world calls me a fool.

ਅਧਿਕ ਬਕਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਲਿਵ ਰਹੀਆ
Aḏẖik baka▫o ṯerī liv rahī▫ā.
If I talk too much, I miss out on Your Love.

ਭੂਲ ਚੂਕ ਤੇਰੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ
Bẖūl cẖūk ṯerai ḏarbār.
My mistakes and faults will be judged in Your Court.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਆਚਾਰ ॥੧॥
Nām binā kaise ācẖār. ||1||
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, how can I maintain good conduct? ||1||

ਐਸੇ ਝੂਠਿ ਮੁਠੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ
Aise jẖūṯẖ muṯẖe sansārā.
Such is the falsehood which is plundering the world.

ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਨਿੰਦੈ ਮੁਝੈ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
Ninḏak ninḏai mujẖai pi▫ārā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The slanderer slanders me, but even so, I love him. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਿੰਦਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ
Jis ninḏėh so▫ī biḏẖ jāṇai.
He alone knows the way, who has been slandered.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ
Gur kai sabḏe ḏar nīsāṇai.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he is stamped with the Lord's Insignia in His Court.

ਕਾਰਣ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਗਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ
Kāraṇ nām anṯargaṯ jāṇai.
He realizes the Naam, the Cause of causes, deep within himself.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਈ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੨॥
Jis no naḏar kare so▫ī biḏẖ jāṇai. ||2||
He alone knows the way, who is blessed by the Lord's Glance of Grace. ||2||

ਮੈ ਮੈਲੌ ਊਜਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ
Mai mailou ūjal sacẖ so▫e.
I am filthy and polluted; the True Lord is Immaculate and Sublime.

ਊਤਮੁ ਆਖਿ ਊਚਾ ਹੋਇ
Ūṯam ākẖ na ūcẖā ho▫e.
Calling oneself sublime, one does not become exalted.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਖੂਲ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ
Manmukẖ kẖūliĥ mahā bikẖ kẖā▫e.
The self-willed manmukh openly eats the great poison.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਰਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੩॥
Gurmukẖ ho▫e so rācẖai nā▫e. ||3||
But one who becomes Gurmukh is absorbed in the Name. ||3||

ਅੰਧੌ ਬੋਲੌ ਮੁਗਧੁ ਗਵਾਰੁ
Anḏẖou bolou mugaḏẖ gavār.
I am blind, deaf, foolish and ignorant,
