ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਇਹੁ ਗੁਫਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ
गुर कै सबदि इहु गुफा वीचारे ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ ih gufā vīcẖāre.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, search this cave.

ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ
नामु निरंजनु अंतरि वसै मुरारे ॥
Nām niranjan anṯar vasai murāre.
The Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides deep within the self.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
हरि गुण गावै सबदि सुहाए मिलि प्रीतम सुखु पावणिआ ॥४॥
Har guṇ gāvai sabaḏ suhā▫e mil parīṯam sukẖ pāvṇi▫ā. ||4||
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and decorate yourself with the Shabad. Meeting with your Beloved, you shall find peace. ||4||

ਜਮੁ ਜਾਗਾਤੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਕਰੁ ਲਾਏ
जमु जागाती दूजै भाइ करु लाए ॥
Jam jāgāṯī ḏūjai bẖā▫e kar lā▫e.
The Messenger of Death imposes his tax on those who are attached to duality.

ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਦੇਇ ਸਜਾਏ
नावहु भूले देइ सजाए ॥
Nāvhu bẖūle ḏe▫e sajā▫e.
He inflicts punishment on those who forget the Name.

ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹਤ ਕਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਲੇਵੈ ਰਤੀਅਹੁ ਮਾਸਾ ਤੋਲ ਕਢਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
घड़ी मुहत का लेखा लेवै रतीअहु मासा तोल कढावणिआ ॥५॥
Gẖaṛī muhaṯ kā lekẖā levai raṯī▫ahu māsā ṯol kadẖāvaṇi▫ā. ||5||
They are called to account for each instant and each moment. Every grain, every particle, is weighed and counted. ||5||

ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਚੇਤੇ ਨਾਹੀ
पेईअड़ै पिरु चेते नाही ॥
Pe▫ī▫aṛai pir cẖeṯe nāhī.
One who does not remember her Husband Lord in this world,

ਦੂਜੈ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਵੈ ਧਾਹੀ
दूजै मुठी रोवै धाही ॥
Ḏūjai muṯẖī rovai ḏẖāhī.
is being cheated by duality; she shall weep bitterly in the end.

ਖਰੀ ਕੁਆਲਿਓ ਕੁਰੂਪਿ ਕੁਲਖਣੀ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
खरी कुआलिओ कुरूपि कुलखणी सुपनै पिरु नही पावणिआ ॥६॥
Kẖarī ku▫āli▫o kurūp kulkẖaṇī supnai pir nahī pāvṇi▫ā. ||6||
She is from an evil family; she is ugly and vile. Even in her dreams, she does not meet her Husband Lord. ||6||

ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ
पेईअड़ै पिरु मंनि वसाइआ ॥
Pe▫ī▫aṛai pir man vasā▫i▫ā.
She who enshrines her Husband Lord in her mind in this world -

ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ
पूरै गुरि हदूरि दिखाइआ ॥
Pūrai gur haḏūr ḏikẖā▫i▫ā.
His Presence is revealed to her by the Perfect Guru.

ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਸਬਦੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਸੇਜ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
कामणि पिरु राखिआ कंठि लाइ सबदे पिरु रावै सेज सुहावणिआ ॥७॥
Kāmaṇ pir rākẖi▫ā kanṯẖ lā▫e sabḏe pir rāvai sej suhāvaṇi▫ā. ||7||
That soul-bride keeps her Husband Lord clasped tightly to her heart, and through the Word of the Shabad, she enjoys her Husband Lord upon His Beautiful Bed. ||7||

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਸਦਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ
आपे देवै सदि बुलाए ॥
Āpe ḏevai saḏ bulā▫e.
The Lord Himself sends out the call, and He summons us to His Presence.

ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਉ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ
आपणा नाउ मंनि वसाए ॥
Āpṇā nā▫o man vasā▫e.
He enshrines His Name within our minds.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨੮॥੨੯॥
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई अनदिनु सदा गुण गावणिआ ॥८॥२८॥२९॥
Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī an▫ḏin saḏā guṇ gāvaṇi▫ā. ||8||28||29||
O Nanak, one who receives the greatness of the Naam night and day, constantly sings His Glorious Praises. ||8||28||29||

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ
माझ महला ३ ॥
Mājẖ mėhlā 3.
Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਊਤਮ ਜਨਮੁ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਹੈ ਵਾਸਾ
ऊतम जनमु सुथानि है वासा ॥
Ūṯam janam suthān hai vāsā.
Sublime is their birth, and the place where they dwell.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਘਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਉਦਾਸਾ
सतिगुरु सेवहि घर माहि उदासा ॥
Saṯgur sevėh gẖar māhi uḏāsā.
Those who serve the True Guru remain detached in the home of their own being.

ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
हरि रंगि रहहि सदा रंगि राते हरि रसि मनु त्रिपतावणिआ ॥१॥
Har rang rahėh saḏā rang rāṯe har ras man ṯaripṯāvṇi▫ā. ||1||
They abide in the Lord's Love, and constantly imbued with His Love, their minds are satisfied and fulfilled with the Lord's Essence. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਪੜਿ ਬੁਝਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ
हउ वारी जीउ वारी पड़ि बुझि मंनि वसावणिआ ॥
Ha▫o vārī jī▫o vārī paṛ bujẖ man vasāvaṇi▫ā.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who read of the Lord, who understand and enshrine Him within their minds.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
गुरमुखि पड़हि हरि नामु सलाहहि दरि सचै सोभा पावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmukẖ paṛėh har nām salāhėh ḏar sacẖai sobẖā pāvṇi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The Gurmukhs read and praise the Lord's Name; they are honored in the True Court. ||1||Pause||

ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ
अलख अभेउ हरि रहिआ समाए ॥
Alakẖ abẖe▫o har rahi▫ā samā▫e.
The Unseen and Inscrutable Lord is permeating and pervading everywhere.

ਉਪਾਇ ਕਿਤੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ
उपाइ न किती पाइआ जाए ॥
Upā▫e na kiṯī pā▫i▫ā jā▫e.
He cannot be obtained by any effort.

ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
किरपा करे ता सतिगुरु भेटै नदरी मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥२॥
Kirpā kare ṯā saṯgur bẖetai naḏrī mel milāvaṇi▫ā. ||2||
If the Lord grants His Grace, then we come to meet the True Guru. By His Kindness, we are united in His Union. ||2||

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪੜੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ
दूजै भाइ पड़ै नही बूझै ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e paṛai nahī būjẖai.
One who reads, while attached to duality, does not understand.

ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਲੂਝੈ
त्रिबिधि माइआ कारणि लूझै ॥
Ŧaribaḏẖ mā▫i▫ā kāraṇ lūjẖai.
He yearns for the three-phased Maya.

ਤ੍ਰਿਬਿਧਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
त्रिबिधि बंधन तूटहि गुर सबदी गुर सबदी मुकति करावणिआ ॥३॥
Ŧaribaḏẖ banḏẖan ṯūtėh gur sabḏī gur sabḏī mukaṯ karāvaṇi▫ā. ||3||
The bonds of the three-phased Maya are broken by the Word of the Guru's Shabad. Through the Guru's Shabad, liberation is achieved. ||3||

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਵੈ
इहु मनु चंचलु वसि न आवै ॥
Ih man cẖancẖal vas na āvai.
This unstable mind cannot be held steady.

ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ
दुबिधा लागै दह दिसि धावै ॥
Ḏubiḏẖā lāgai ḏah ḏis ḏẖāvai.
Attached to duality, it wanders in the ten directions.

ਬਿਖੁ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
बिखु का कीड़ा बिखु महि राता बिखु ही माहि पचावणिआ ॥४॥
Bikẖ kā kīṛā bikẖ mėh rāṯā bikẖ hī māhi pacẖāvaṇi▫ā. ||4||
It is a poisonous worm, drenched with poison, and in poison it rots away. ||4||

ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪੁ ਜਣਾਏ
हउ हउ करे तै आपु जणाए ॥
Ha▫o ha▫o kare ṯai āp jaṇā▫e.
Practicing egotism and selfishness, they try to impress others by showing off.

ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ
बहु करम करै किछु थाइ न पाए ॥
Baho karam karai kicẖẖ thā▫e na pā▫e.
They perform all sorts of rituals, but they gain no acceptance.

ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੂ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
तुझ ते बाहरि किछू न होवै बखसे सबदि सुहावणिआ ॥५॥
Ŧujẖ ṯe bāhar kicẖẖū na hovai bakẖse sabaḏ suhāvaṇi▫ā. ||5||
Without You, Lord, nothing happens at all. You forgive those who are adorned with the Word of Your Shabad. ||5||

ਉਪਜੈ ਪਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਾਹੀ
उपजै पचै हरि बूझै नाही ॥
Upjai pacẖai har būjẖai nāhī.
They are born, and they die, but they do not understand the Lord.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ
अनदिनु दूजै भाइ फिराही ॥
An▫ḏin ḏūjai bẖā▫e firā▫ī.
Night and day, they wander, in love with duality.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਹੈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
मनमुख जनमु गइआ है बिरथा अंति गइआ पछुतावणिआ ॥६॥
Manmukẖ janam ga▫i▫ā hai birthā anṯ ga▫i▫ā pacẖẖuṯāvaṇi▫ā. ||6||
The lives of the self-willed manmukhs are useless; in the end, they die, regretting and repenting. ||6||

ਪਿਰੁ ਪਰਦੇਸਿ ਸਿਗਾਰੁ ਬਣਾਏ
पिरु परदेसि सिगारु बणाए ॥
Pir parḏes sigār baṇā▫e.
The Husband is away, and the wife is getting dressed up.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੁ ਐਸੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ
मनमुख अंधु ऐसे करम कमाए ॥
Manmukẖ anḏẖ aise karam kamā▫e.
This is what the blind, self-willed manmukhs are doing.

ਹਲਤਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਲਤਿ ਢੋਈ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
हलति न सोभा पलति न ढोई बिरथा जनमु गवावणिआ ॥७॥
Halaṯ na sobẖā palaṯ na dẖo▫ī birthā janam gavāvṇi▫ā. ||7||
They are not honored in this world, and they shall find no shelter in the world hereafter. They are wasting their lives in vain. ||7||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਤਾ
हरि का नामु किनै विरलै जाता ॥
Har kā nām kinai virlai jāṯā.
How rare are those who know the Name of the Lord!

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ
पूरे गुर कै सबदि पछाता ॥
Pūre gur kai sabaḏ pacẖẖāṯā.
Through the Shabad, the Word of the Perfect Guru, the Lord is realized.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥
अनदिनु भगति करे दिनु राती सहजे ही सुखु पावणिआ ॥८॥
An▫ḏin bẖagaṯ kare ḏin rāṯī sėhje hī sukẖ pāvṇi▫ā. ||8||
Night and day, they perform the Lord's devotional service; day and night, they find intuitive peace. ||8||

ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ
सभ महि वरतै एको सोई ॥
Sabẖ mėh varṯai eko so▫ī.
That One Lord is pervading in all.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ
गुरमुखि विरला बूझै कोई ॥
Gurmukẖ virlā būjẖai ko▫ī.
Only a few, as Gurmukh, understand this.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੯॥੨੯॥੩੦॥
नानक नामि रते जन सोहहि करि किरपा आपि मिलावणिआ ॥९॥२९॥३०॥
Nānak nām raṯe jan sohėh kar kirpā āp milāvaṇi▫ā. ||9||29||30||
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam are beautiful. Granting His Grace, God unites them with Himself. ||9||29||30||
