ਰਾਗੁ ਮਲਾਰ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਮਹਲਾ ਘਰੁ

Raag Malaar, Chau-Padas, First Mehl, First House:

ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सति नामु करता पुरखु निरभउ निरवैरु अकाल मूरति अजूनी सैभं गुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯ nām karṯā purakẖ nirbẖa▫o nirvair akāl mūraṯ ajūnī saibẖaʼn gur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying. Beyond Birth. Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace:

ਖਾਣਾ ਪੀਣਾ ਹਸਣਾ ਸਉਣਾ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਹੈ ਮਰਣਾ
खाणा पीणा हसणा सउणा विसरि गइआ है मरणा ॥
Kẖāṇā pīṇā hasṇā sa▫uṇā visar ga▫i▫ā hai marṇā.
Eating, drinking, laughing and sleeping, the mortal forgets about dying.

ਖਸਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਹਣਾ ॥੧॥
खसमु विसारि खुआरी कीनी ध्रिगु जीवणु नही रहणा ॥१॥
Kẖasam visār kẖu▫ārī kīnī ḏẖarig jīvaṇ nahī rahṇā. ||1||
Forgetting his Lord and Master, the mortal is ruined, and his life is cursed. He cannot remain forever. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ
प्राणी एको नामु धिआवहु ॥
Parāṇī eko nām ḏẖi▫āvahu.
O mortal, meditate on the One Lord.

ਅਪਨੀ ਪਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
अपनी पति सेती घरि जावहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Apnī paṯ seṯī gẖar jāvhu. ||1|| rahā▫o.
You shall go to your true home with honor. ||1 Pause||

ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੁਝੁ ਕਿਆ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਮਾਂਗਹਿ ਲੇਵਹਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਹੀ
तुधनो सेवहि तुझु किआ देवहि मांगहि लेवहि रहहि नही ॥
Ŧuḏẖno sevėh ṯujẖ ki▫ā ḏevėh māʼngėh levėh rahėh nahī.
Those who serve You - what can they give You? They beg for and receive what cannot remain.

ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਆ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੁਹੀ ॥੨॥
तू दाता जीआ सभना का जीआ अंदरि जीउ तुही ॥२॥
Ŧū ḏāṯā jī▫ā sabẖnā kā jī▫ā anḏar jī▫o ṯuhī. ||2||
You are the Great Giver of all souls; You are the Life within all living beings. ||2||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਸੂਚੇ ਹੋਹੀ
गुरमुखि धिआवहि सि अम्रितु पावहि सेई सूचे होही ॥
Gurmukẖ ḏẖi▫āvahi sė amriṯ pāvahi se▫ī sūcẖe hohī.
The Gurmukhs meditate, and receive the Ambrosial Nectar; thus they become pure.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮੈਲੇ ਹਛੇ ਹੋਹੀ ॥੩॥
अहिनिसि नामु जपहु रे प्राणी मैले हछे होही ॥३॥
Ahinis nām japahu re parāṇī maile hacẖẖe hohī. ||3||
Day and night, chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O mortal. It makes the filthy immaculate. ||3||

ਜੇਹੀ ਰੁਤਿ ਕਾਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੇਹਾ ਤੇਹੋ ਜੇਹੀ ਦੇਹੀ
जेही रुति काइआ सुखु तेहा तेहो जेही देही ॥
Jehī ruṯ kā▫i▫ā sukẖ ṯehā ṯeho jehī ḏehī.
As is the season, so is the comfort of the body, and so is the body itself.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰੁਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਸਾਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਰੁਤਿ ਕੇਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥
नानक रुति सुहावी साई बिनु नावै रुति केही ॥४॥१॥
Nānak ruṯ suhāvī sā▫ī bin nāvai ruṯ kehī. ||4||1||
O Nanak, that season is beautiful; without the Name, what season is it? ||4||1||

ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ
मलार महला १ ॥
Malār mėhlā 1.
Malaar, First Mehl:

ਕਰਉ ਬਿਨਉ ਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ
करउ बिनउ गुर अपने प्रीतम हरि वरु आणि मिलावै ॥
Kara▫o bin▫o gur apne parīṯam har var āṇ milāvai.
I offer prayers to my Beloved Guru, that He may unite me with my Husband Lord.

ਸੁਣਿ ਘਨ ਘੋਰ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਰਾ ਲਾਲ ਰਤੀ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
सुणि घन घोर सीतलु मनु मोरा लाल रती गुण गावै ॥१॥
Suṇ gẖan gẖor sīṯal man morā lāl raṯī guṇ gāvai. ||1||
I hear the thunder in the clouds, and my mind is cooled and soothed; imbued with the Love of my Dear Beloved, I sing His Glorious Praises. ||1||

ਬਰਸੁ ਘਨਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ
बरसु घना मेरा मनु भीना ॥
Baras gẖanā merā man bẖīnā.
The rain pours down, and my mind is drenched with His Love.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਸੁਹਾਨੀ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਲੀਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
अम्रित बूंद सुहानी हीअरै गुरि मोही मनु हरि रसि लीना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Amriṯ būnḏ suhānī hī▫arai gur mohī man har ras līnā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The drop of Ambrosial Nectar pleases my heart; the Guru has fascinated my mind, which is drenched in the sublime essence of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਖੀ ਵਰ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ
सहजि सुखी वर कामणि पिआरी जिसु गुर बचनी मनु मानिआ ॥
Sahj sukẖī var kāmaṇ pi▫ārī jis gur bacẖnī man māni▫ā.
With intuitive peace and poise, the soul-bride is loved by her Husband Lord; her mind is pleased and appeased by the Guru's Teachings.

ਹਰਿ ਵਰਿ ਨਾਰਿ ਭਈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਸੁਖਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥
हरि वरि नारि भई सोहागणि मनि तनि प्रेमु सुखानिआ ॥२॥
Har var nār bẖa▫ī sohagaṇ man ṯan parem sukẖāni▫ā. ||2||
She is the happy soul-bride of her Husband Lord; her mind and body are filled with joy by His Love. ||2||

ਅਵਗਣ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਭਈ ਬੈਰਾਗਨਿ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਵਰੁ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਹਰੀ
अवगण तिआगि भई बैरागनि असथिरु वरु सोहागु हरी ॥
Avgaṇ ṯi▫āg bẖa▫ī bairāgan asthir var sohāg harī.
Discarding her demerits, she becomes detached; with the Lord as her Husband, her marriage is eternal.

ਸੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੀ ॥੩॥
सोगु विजोगु तिसु कदे न विआपै हरि प्रभि अपणी किरपा करी ॥३॥
Sog vijog ṯis kaḏe na vi▫āpai har parabẖ apṇī kirpā karī. ||3||
She never suffers separation or sorrow; her Lord God showers her with His Grace. ||3||

ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ
आवण जाणु नही मनु निहचलु पूरे गुर की ओट गही ॥
Āvaṇ jāṇ nahī man nihcẖal pūre gur kī ot gahī.
Her mind is steady and stable; she does not come and go in reincarnation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਹੀ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक राम नामु जपि गुरमुखि धनु सोहागणि सचु सही ॥४॥२॥
Nānak rām nām jap gurmukẖ ḏẖan sohagaṇ sacẖ sahī. ||4||2||
She takes the Shelter of the Perfect Guru. O Nanak, as Gurmukh, chant the Naam; you shall be accepted as the true soul-bride of the Lord. ||4||2||

ਮਲਾਰ ਮਹਲਾ
मलार महला १ ॥

Malaar, First Mehl:

ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਤ ਗਵਾਇਆ
साची सुरति नामि नही त्रिपते हउमै करत गवाइआ ॥
Sācẖī suraṯ nām nahī ṯaripṯai ha▫umai karaṯ gavā▫i▫ā.
They pretend to understand the Truth, but they are not satisfied by the Naam; they waste their lives in egotism.
