|
ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਆ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਕਰੇ ਸੋਇ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ॥
कीता किआ सालाहीऐ करे सोइ सालाहि ॥
Kīṯā ki▫ā salāhī▫ai kare so▫e sālāhi.
Why praise the created one, Praise thou Him, who creates all.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੀ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
नानक एकी बाहरा दूजा दाता नाहि ॥
Nānak ekī bāhrā ḏūjā ḏāṯā nāhi.
Nanak, without the One Lord, there is not another donor.
|
ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਕਾਰੁ ॥
करता सो सालाहीऐ जिनि कीता आकारु ॥
Karṯā so salāhī▫ai jin kīṯā ākār.
Praise thou the Creator-Lord, who has created the universe.
|
ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਜਿ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
दाता सो सालाहीऐ जि सभसै दे आधारु ॥
Ḏāṯā so salāhī▫ai jė sabẖsai ḏe āḏẖār.
Eulogise thou the Beneficent Lord, who gives sustenance to all.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ॥
नानक आपि सदीव है पूरा जिसु भंडारु ॥
Nānak āp saḏīv hai pūrā jis bẖandār.
Nanak, the Lord, brimful is whose treasure, is ever eternal Himself.
|
ਵਡਾ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
वडा करि सालाहीऐ अंतु न पारावारु ॥२॥
vadā kar salāhī▫ai anṯ na pārāvār. ||2||
Praise and eulogise thou Him, who has no end and limit.

Pauri.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
हरि का नामु निधानु है सेविऐ सुखु पाई ॥
Har kā nām niḏẖān hai sevi▫ai sukẖ pā▫ī.
Treasure of bliss is the God's Name, Serving it, peace is obtained.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਉਚਰਾਂ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਂਈ ॥
नामु निरंजनु उचरां पति सिउ घरि जांई ॥
Nām niranjan ucẖrāʼn paṯ si▫o gẖar jāʼn▫ī.
I utter the Name of the Immaculate Lord, that I may go to my home with honour.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
गुरमुखि बाणी नामु है नामु रिदै वसाई ॥
Gurmukẖ baṇī nām hai nām riḏai vasā▫ī.
The Supreme Guru's word is the Lord's name and this Name, I enshrine in my mind.

ਮਤਿ ਪੰਖੇਰੂ ਵਸਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
मति पंखेरू वसि होइ सतिगुरू धिआईं ॥
Maṯ pankẖerū vas ho▫e saṯgurū ḏẖi▫ā▫īʼn.
Dwelling on the True Guru, the mind bird comes under one's sway.

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥
नानक आपि दइआलु होइ नामे लिव लाई ॥४॥
Nānak āp ḏa▫i▫āl ho▫e nāme liv lā▫ī. ||4||
Nanak, if He, the Lord becomes merciful, the mortal comes to embrace love for His Name.

Shalok 2nd Guru.
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕੈਸਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ॥
तिसु सिउ कैसा बोलणा जि आपे जाणै जाणु ॥
Ŧis si▫o kaisā bolṇā jė āpe jāṇai jāṇ.
How should one speak to Him, who, of Himself, knows everything?
|
ਚੀਰੀ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
चीरी जा की ना फिरै साहिबु सो परवाणु ॥
Cẖīrī jā kī nā firai sāhib so parvāṇ.
Supreme is He, the Lord whose warrant can be challenged not.
|
ਚੀਰੀ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਚਲਣਾ ਮੀਰ ਮਲਕ ਸਲਾਰ ॥
चीरी जिस की चलणा मीर मलक सलार ॥
Cẖīrī jis kī cẖalṇā mīr malak salār.
He is the Lord, subject to whose writ, depart the king, nobles and commanders.
|
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
जो तिसु भावै नानका साई भली कार ॥
Jo ṯis bẖāvai nānkā sā▫ī bẖalī kār.
Whatever pleases Him, O Nanak; that alone is the good deed.
|
ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਚੀਰੀ ਚਲਣਾ ਹਥਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
जिन्हा चीरी चलणा हथि तिन्हा किछु नाहि ॥
Jinĥā cẖīrī cẖalṇā hath ṯinĥā kicẖẖ nāhi.
Nothing is in their hands, who have to walk subject to the Lord's command.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾ ਫੁਰਮਾਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਉਠੀ ਕਰਲੈ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
साहिब का फुरमाणु होइ उठी करलै पाहि ॥
Sāhib kā furmāṇ ho▫e uṯẖī karlai pāhi.
When the Lord's order is issued, they arise and take the road.
|
ਜੇਹਾ ਚੀਰੀ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤੇਹਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥
जेहा चीरी लिखिआ तेहा हुकमु कमाहि ॥
Jehā cẖīrī likẖi▫ā ṯehā hukam kamāhi.
As is the order, writ in the deed, so do they act.
|
ਘਲੇ ਆਵਹਿ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਦੇ ਉਠੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
घले आवहि नानका सदे उठी जाहि ॥१॥
Gẖale āvahi nānkā saḏe uṯẖī jāhi. ||1||
O Nanak, the mortals come, when they are sent by God and depart, when they are sent by God and depart, when called back.
|

2nd Guru.
|
ਸਿਫਤਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਕਉ ਬਖਸੀਐ ਸੇਈ ਪੋਤੇਦਾਰ ॥
सिफति जिना कउ बखसीऐ सेई पोतेदार ॥
Sifaṯ jinā ka▫o bakẖsī▫ai se▫ī poṯeḏār.
They, whom the Lord blesses with His praise; they alone are the Lord of the treasure.
|
ਕੁੰਜੀ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਦਿਤੀਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮਿਲੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
कुंजी जिन कउ दितीआ तिन्हा मिले भंडार ॥
Kunjī jin ka▫o ḏiṯī▫ā ṯinĥā mile bẖandār.
They who are blessed with the key; they alone are the Lord of the treasure.
|
ਜਹ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ਹੂ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਕਲਹਿ ਤੇ ਕੀਅਹਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
जह भंडारी हू गुण निकलहि ते कीअहि परवाणु ॥
Jah bẖandārī hū guṇ niklahi ṯe kī▫ah parvāṇ.
The treasures from whom virtues well up; they alone are approved by the Lord.
|
ਨਦਰਿ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੨॥
नदरि तिन्हा कउ नानका नामु जिन्हा नीसाणु ॥२॥
Naḏar ṯinĥā ka▫o nānkā nām jinĥā nīsāṇ. ||2||
They alone are blessed with God's grace, O Nanak, who bear the standard of His Name.

Pauri.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
नामु निरंजनु निरमला सुणिऐ सुखु होई ॥
Nām niranjan nirmalā suṇi▫ai sukẖ ho▫ī.
Immaculate and pure in the Lord's Name, hearing which peace is obtained.
|
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈਐ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
सुणि सुणि मंनि वसाईऐ बूझै जनु कोई ॥
Suṇ suṇ man vasā▫ī▫ai būjẖai jan ko▫ī.
Hearing, hearing it, one enshrines it in his mind, but rare is the one who realises it.
|
ਬਹਦਿਆ ਉਠਦਿਆ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ॥
बहदिआ उठदिआ न विसरै साचा सचु सोई ॥
Bahḏi▫ā uṯẖ▫ḏi▫ā na visrai sācẖā sacẖ so▫ī.
Down-sitting and up-standing I forget not that Trust of the true Lord.
|
ਭਗਤਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
भगता कउ नाम अधारु है नामे सुखु होई ॥
Bẖagṯā ka▫o nām aḏẖār hai nāme sukẖ ho▫ī.
The saints have the Name's support alone and through the Name, they are blest with peace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਈ ॥੫॥
नानक मनि तनि रवि रहिआ गुरमुखि हरि सोई ॥५॥
Nānak man ṯan rav rahi▫ā gurmukẖ har so▫ī. ||5||
Nanak, the Lord is pervading our soul and body and by the Guru's grace, He, the Lord is realised.

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
सलोक महला १ ॥
Salok mėhlā 1.
Slok 1st Guru.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਲੀਅਹਿ ਤੋਲ ਜੇ ਜੀਉ ਪਿਛੈ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
नानक तुलीअहि तोल जे जीउ पिछै पाईऐ ॥
Nānak ṯulī▫ah ṯol je jī▫o picẖẖai pā▫ī▫ai.
Nanak, if man puts hearty love in the hind scale, then alone can he be deemed to be of the full weight.
|
ਇਕਸੁ ਨ ਪੁਜਹਿ ਬੋਲ ਜੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ॥
इकसु न पुजहि बोल जे पूरे पूरा करि मिलै ॥
Ikas na pujėh bol je pūre pūrā kar milai.
Nothing can equal the utterance of the one Name, which making mortal perfect, unites him with the Perfect Lord.
|
ਵਡਾ ਆਖਣੁ ਭਾਰਾ ਤੋਲੁ ॥
वडा आखणु भारा तोलु ॥
vadā ākẖaṇ bẖārā ṯol.
To call the Lord grand, carries great weight.
|
ਹੋਰ ਹਉਲੀ ਮਤੀ ਹਉਲੇ ਬੋਲ ॥
होर हउली मती हउले बोल ॥
Hor ha▫ulī maṯī ha▫ule bol.
Light are other intellects and light other utterances.
|
ਧਰਤੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਰਬਤ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
धरती पाणी परबत भारु ॥
Ḏẖarṯī pāṇī parbaṯ bẖār.
The weight of the earth, the ocean and the mountain,
|
ਕਿਉ ਕੰਡੈ ਤੋਲੈ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੁ ॥
किउ कंडै तोलै सुनिआरु ॥
Ki▫o kandai ṯolai suni▫ār.
how can this be weighed by a goldsmith,
|
ਤੋਲਾ ਮਾਸਾ ਰਤਕ ਪਾਇ ॥
तोला मासा रतक पाइ ॥
Ŧolā māsā raṯak pā▫e.
with his balance using the weights of a tola, 1/12 of a tola and a jequitery?
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੁਛਿਆ ਦੇਇ ਪੁਜਾਇ ॥
नानक पुछिआ देइ पुजाइ ॥
Nānak pucẖẖi▫ā ḏe▫e pujā▫e.
When questioned, t he satisfies the questioner, O Nanak.

ਮੂਰਖ ਅੰਧਿਆ ਅੰਧੀ ਧਾਤੁ ॥
मूरख अंधिआ अंधी धातु ॥
Mūrakẖ anḏẖi▫ā anḏẖī ḏẖāṯ.
Blind is the running about of the blind fools.
|
ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਕਹਾਇਨਿ ਆਪੁ ॥੧॥
कहि कहि कहणु कहाइनि आपु ॥१॥
Kahi kahi kahaṇ kahā▫in āp. ||1||
The more they say, utter and talk, the more they expose themselves.
|

ਆਖਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਸੁਨਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਜਾਪੀ ਆਖਿ ॥
आखणि अउखा सुनणि अउखा आखि न जापी आखि ॥
Ākẖaṇ a▫ukẖā sunaṇ a▫ukẖā ākẖ na jāpī ākẖ.
Difficult it is to utter the Lord's Name and difficult it is to hear it. The Lord's Name can be uttered not with the month.
|
ਇਕਿ ਆਖਿ ਆਖਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਭਾਖਹਿ ਅਰਧ ਉਰਧ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
इकि आखि आखहि सबदु भाखहि अरध उरध दिनु राति ॥
Ik ākẖ ākẖahi sabaḏ bẖākẖahi araḏẖ uraḏẖ ḏin rāṯ.
Some, the low and the high, with their mouth, day and night speak of God and utter His Name.
|
ਜੇ ਕਿਹੁ ਹੋਇ ਤ ਕਿਹੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਜਾਪੈ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
जे किहु होइ त किहु दिसै जापै रूपु न जाति ॥
Je kihu ho▫e ṯa kihu ḏisai jāpai rūp na jāṯ.
If God be in some form, then something may be seen, but His form and kind can be seen not.
|
ਸਭਿ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਘਟ ਅਉਘਟ ਘਟ ਥਾਪਿ ॥
सभि कारण करता करे घट अउघट घट थापि ॥
Sabẖ kāraṇ karṯā kare gẖat a▫ugẖat gẖat thāp.
The Creator-Lord does all the deeds and establishes He all places, high and low.
