ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋਮ ਪਾਕੁ ਹਿਰਹਿ ਪਰ ਦਰਬਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਝੂਠ ਗੁਮਾਨ
करहि सोम पाकु हिरहि पर दरबा अंतरि झूठ गुमान ॥
Karahi som pāk hirėh par ḏarbā anṯar jẖūṯẖ gumān.
The mortal eats the food which he has carefully prepared, and then steals the wealth of others. His inner being is filled with falsehood and pride.

ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬੇਦ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਮਨ ਕੈ ਮਾਨ ॥੨॥
सासत्र बेद की बिधि नही जाणहि बिआपे मन कै मान ॥२॥
Sāsṯar beḏ kī biḏẖ nahī jāṇėh bi▫āpe man kai mān. ||2||
He knows nothing of the Vedas or the Shaastras; his mind is gripped by pride. ||2||

ਸੰਧਿਆ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਵਰਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਸਫਰੀ ਦੰਫਾਨ
संधिआ काल करहि सभि वरता जिउ सफरी द्मफान ॥
Sanḏẖi▫ā kāl karahi sabẖ varṯā ji▫o safrī ḏamfān.
He says his evening prayers, and observes all the fasts, but this is all just a show.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਊਝੜਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭਿ ਕਰਮਾਨ ॥੩॥
प्रभू भुलाए ऊझड़ि पाए निहफल सभि करमान ॥३॥
Parabẖū bẖulā▫e ūjẖaṛ pā▫e nihfal sabẖ karmān. ||3||
God made him stray from the path, and sent him into the wilderness. All his actions are useless. ||3||

ਸੋ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੋ ਬੈਸਨੌ ਪੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਭਗਵਾਨ
सो गिआनी सो बैसनौ पड़्हिआ जिसु करी क्रिपा भगवान ॥
So gi▫ānī so baisnou paṛĥ▫ā jis karī kirpā bẖagvān.
He alone is a spiritual teacher, and he alone is a devotee of Vishnu and a scholar, whom the Lord God blesses with His Grace.

ਓੁਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਉਧਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਨ ॥੪॥
ओनि सतिगुरु सेवि परम पदु पाइआ उधरिआ सगल बिस्वान ॥४॥
On saṯgur sev param paḏ pā▫i▫ā uḏẖri▫ā sagal bisvān. ||4||
Serving the True Guru, he obtains the supreme status and saves the whole world. ||4||

ਕਿਆ ਹਮ ਕਥਹ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਥਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣਹ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਬੋੁਲਾਨ
किआ हम कथह किछु कथि नही जाणह प्रभ भावै तिवै बोलान ॥
Ki▫ā ham kathah kicẖẖ kath nahī jāṇah parabẖ bẖāvai ṯivai bolān.
What can I say? I don't know what to say. As God wills, so do I speak.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਇਕ ਮਾਂਗਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਇਓ ਸਰਾਨ ॥੫॥੨॥
साधसंगति की धूरि इक मांगउ जन नानक पइओ सरान ॥५॥२॥
Sāḏẖsangaṯ kī ḏẖūr ik māʼnga▫o jan Nānak pa▫i▫o sarān. ||5||2||
I ask only for the dust of the feet of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. Servant Nanak seeks their Sanctuary. ||5||2||

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ
सारग महला ५ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5.
Saarang, Fifth Mehl:

ਅਬ ਮੋਰੋ ਨਾਚਨੋ ਰਹੋ
अब मोरो नाचनो रहो ॥
Ab moro nācẖno raho.
Now, my dancing is over.

ਲਾਲੁ ਰਗੀਲਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਲਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
लालु रगीला सहजे पाइओ सतिगुर बचनि लहो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Lāl ragīlā sėhje pā▫i▫o saṯgur bacẖan laho. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I have intuitively obtained my Darling Beloved. Through the Word of the True Guru's Teachings, I found Him. ||1||Pause||

ਕੁਆਰ ਕੰਨਿਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਹੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਚਨ ਉਪਹਾਸ ਕਹੋ
कुआर कंनिआ जैसे संगि सहेरी प्रिअ बचन उपहास कहो ॥
Ku▫ār kanniā jaise sang saherī pari▫a bacẖan uphās kaho.
The virgin speaks with her friends about her husband and they laugh together;

ਜਉ ਸੁਰਿਜਨੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਇਓ ਤਬ ਮੁਖੁ ਕਾਜਿ ਲਜੋ ॥੧॥
जउ सुरिजनु ग्रिह भीतरि आइओ तब मुखु काजि लजो ॥१॥
Ja▫o surijan garih bẖīṯar ā▫i▫o ṯab mukẖ kāj lajo. ||1||
but when he comes home, she becomes shy, and modestly covers her face. ||1||

ਜਿਉ ਕਨਿਕੋ ਕੋਠਾਰੀ ਚੜਿਓ ਕਬਰੋ ਹੋਤ ਫਿਰੋ
जिउ कनिको कोठारी चड़िओ कबरो होत फिरो ॥
Ji▫o kaniko koṯẖārī cẖaṛi▫o kabro hoṯ firo.
When gold is melted in the crucible, it flows freely everywhere.

ਜਬ ਤੇ ਸੁਧ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਬਾਰਹਿ ਤਬ ਤੇ ਥਾਨ ਥਿਰੋ ॥੨॥
जब ते सुध भए है बारहि तब ते थान थिरो ॥२॥
Jab ṯe suḏẖ bẖa▫e hai bārėh ṯab ṯe thān thiro. ||2||
But when it is made into pure solid bars of gold, then it remains stationary. ||2||

ਜਉ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਿ ਤਊ ਲਉ ਬਜਿਓ ਮੂਰਤ ਘਰੀ ਪਲੋ
जउ दिनु रैनि तऊ लउ बजिओ मूरत घरी पलो ॥
Ja▫o ḏin rain ṯa▫ū la▫o baji▫o mūraṯ gẖarī palo.
As long as the days and the nights of one's life last, the clock strikes the hours, minutes and seconds.

ਬਜਾਵਨਹਾਰੋ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰਿਓ ਤਬ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਾਜੁ ਭਇਓ ॥੩॥
बजावनहारो ऊठि सिधारिओ तब फिरि बाजु न भइओ ॥३॥
Bajāvanhāro ūṯẖ siḏẖāri▫o ṯab fir bāj na bẖa▫i▫o. ||3||
But when the gong player gets up and leaves, the gong is not sounded again. ||3||

ਜੈਸੇ ਕੁੰਭ ਉਦਕ ਪੂਰਿ ਆਨਿਓ ਤਬ ਓੁਹੁ ਭਿੰਨ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੋ
जैसे कु्मभ उदक पूरि आनिओ तब ओहु भिंन द्रिसटो ॥
Jaise kumbẖ uḏak pūr āni▫o ṯab ohu bẖinn ḏaristo.
When the pitcher is filled with water, the water contained within it seems distinct.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁੰਭੁ ਜਲੈ ਮਹਿ ਡਾਰਿਓ ਅੰਭੈ ਅੰਭ ਮਿਲੋ ॥੪॥੩॥
कहु नानक कु्मभु जलै महि डारिओ अम्भै अम्भ मिलो ॥४॥३॥
Kaho Nānak kumbẖ jalai mėh ḏāri▫o ambẖai ambẖ milo. ||4||3||
Says Nanak, when the pitcher is emptied out, the water mingles again with water. ||4||3||

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ
सारग महला ५ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5.
Saarang, Fifth Mehl:

ਅਬ ਪੂਛੇ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਾ
अब पूछे किआ कहा ॥
Ab pūcẖẖe ki▫ā kahā.
Now if he is asked, what can he say?

ਲੈਨੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਨੀਕੋ ਬਾਵਰ ਬਿਖੁ ਸਿਉ ਗਹਿ ਰਹਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
लैनो नामु अम्रित रसु नीको बावर बिखु सिउ गहि रहा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Laino nām amriṯ ras nīko bāvar bikẖ si▫o gėh rahā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He was supposed to have gathered the sublime essence of the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, but instead, the mad-man was busy with poison. ||1||Pause||

ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਪਾਇਓ ਜਾਤਉ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲਹਾ
दुलभ जनमु चिरंकाल पाइओ जातउ कउडी बदलहा ॥
Ḏulabẖ janam cẖirankāl pā▫i▫o jāṯa▫o ka▫udī baḏlahā.
This human life, so difficult to obtain, was finally obtained after such a long time. He is losing it in exchange for a shell.

ਕਾਥੂਰੀ ਕੋ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਆਇਓ ਲਾਦਿਓ ਕਾਲਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਜਿਵਹਾ ॥੧॥
काथूरी को गाहकु आइओ लादिओ कालर बिरख जिवहा ॥१॥
Kāthūrī ko gāhak ā▫i▫o lāḏi▫o kālar birakẖ jivhā. ||1||
He came to buy musk, but instead, he has loaded dust and thistle grass. ||1||

ਆਇਓ ਲਾਭੁ ਲਾਭਨ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ਮੋਹਨਿ ਠਾਗਉਰੀ ਸਿਉ ਉਲਝਿ ਪਹਾ
आइओ लाभु लाभन कै ताई मोहनि ठागउरी सिउ उलझि पहा ॥
Ā▫i▫o lābẖ lābẖan kai ṯā▫ī mohan ṯẖāga▫urī si▫o ulajẖ pahā.
He comes in search of profits, but he is entangled in the enticing illusion of Maya.

ਕਾਚ ਬਾਦਰੈ ਲਾਲੁ ਖੋਈ ਹੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਕਦਿ ਲਹਾ ॥੨॥
काच बादरै लालु खोई है फिरि इहु अउसरु कदि लहा ॥२॥
Kācẖ bāḏrai lāl kẖo▫ī hai fir ih a▫osar kaḏ lahā. ||2||
He loses the jewel, in exchange for mere glass. When will he have this blessed opportunity again? ||2||

ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਧ ਏਕੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਛੋਡਹ ਦਾਸਿ ਭਜਹਾ
सगल पराध एकु गुणु नाही ठाकुरु छोडह दासि भजहा ॥
Sagal parāḏẖ ek guṇ nāhī ṯẖākur cẖẖodah ḏās bẖajhā.
He is full of sins, and he has not even one redeeming virtue. Forsaking his Lord and Master, he is involved with Maya, God's slave.

ਆਈ ਮਸਟਿ ਜੜਵਤ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਜਿਉ ਤਸਕਰੁ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਂਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਹਾ ॥੩॥
आई मसटि जड़वत की निआई जिउ तसकरु दरि सांन्हिहा ॥३॥
Ā▫ī masat jaṛvaṯ kī ni▫ā▫ī ji▫o ṯaskar ḏar sāʼnniĥā. ||3||
And when the final silence comes, like inanimate matter, he is caught like a thief at the door. ||3||

ਆਨ ਉਪਾਉ ਕੋਊ ਸੂਝੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਸਰਣੀ ਪਰਿ ਰਹਾ
आन उपाउ न कोऊ सूझै हरि दासा सरणी परि रहा ॥
Ān upā▫o na ko▫ū sūjẖai har ḏāsā sarṇī par rahā.
I cannot see any other way out. I seek the Sanctuary of the Lord's slaves.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਛੁਟੀਐ ਜਉ ਸਗਲੇ ਅਉਗਨ ਮੇਟਿ ਧਰਹਾ ॥੪॥੪॥
कहु नानक तब ही मन छुटीऐ जउ सगले अउगन मेटि धरहा ॥४॥४॥
Kaho Nānak ṯab hī man cẖẖutī▫ai ja▫o sagle a▫ugan met ḏẖarhā. ||4||4||
Says Nanak, the mortal is emancipated, only when all his demerits and faults are erased and eradicated. ||4||4||

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ
सारग महला ५ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5.
Saarang, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਾਈ ਧੀਰਿ ਰਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਰਾਗਿਓ
माई धीरि रही प्रिअ बहुतु बिरागिओ ॥
Mā▫ī ḏẖīr rahī pari▫a bahuṯ birāgi▫o.
O mother, my patience is gone. I am in love with my Husband Lord.

ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਆਨੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਰੇ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚੈ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
अनिक भांति आनूप रंग रे तिन्ह सिउ रुचै न लागिओ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Anik bẖāʼnṯ ānūp rang re ṯinĥ si▫o rucẖai na lāgi▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
There are so many kinds of incomparable pleasures, but I am not interested in any of them. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਮੁਖਿ ਟੇਰਉ ਨੀਦ ਪਲਕ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਗਿਓ
निसि बासुर प्रिअ प्रिअ मुखि टेरउ नींद पलक नही जागिओ ॥
Nis bāsur pari▫a pari▫a mukẖ tera▫o nīʼnḏ palak nahī jāgi▫o.
Night and day, I utter, "Pri-a, Pri-a - Beloved, Beloved" with my mouth. I cannot sleep, even for an instant; I remain awake and aware.

ਹਾਰ ਕਜਰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਅਨਿਕ ਸੀਗਾਰ ਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਸਭੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਲਾਗਿਓ ॥੧॥
हार कजर बसत्र अनिक सीगार रे बिनु पिर सभै बिखु लागिओ ॥१॥
Hār kajar basṯar anik sīgār re bin pir sabẖai bikẖ lāgi▫o. ||1||
Necklaces, eye make-up, fancy clothes and decorations - without my Husband Lord, these are all poison to me. ||1||
