ਹਣਵੰਤੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਧਰਿ ਲੰਕੂਰੁ ॥
हणवंतु जागै धरि लंकूरु ॥
Haṇvanṯ jāgai ḏẖar lankūr.
Hanuman with his tail is awake and aware.
|
ਸੰਕਰੁ ਜਾਗੈ ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ॥
संकरु जागै चरन सेव ॥
Sankar jāgai cẖaran sev.
Shiva is awake, serving at the Lord's Feet.
|
ਕਲਿ ਜਾਗੇ ਨਾਮਾ ਜੈਦੇਵ ॥੨॥
कलि जागे नामा जैदेव ॥२॥
Kal jāge nāmā Jaiḏev. ||2||
Naam Dayv and Jai Dayv are awake in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. ||2||
|
ਜਾਗਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ॥
जागत सोवत बहु प्रकार ॥
Jāgaṯ sovaṯ baho parkār.
There are many ways of being awake, and sleeping.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
गुरमुखि जागै सोई सारु ॥
Gurmukẖ jāgai so▫ī sār.
To be awake as Gurmukh is the most excellent way.
|
ਇਸੁ ਦੇਹੀ ਕੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਕਾਮ ॥
इसु देही के अधिक काम ॥
Is ḏehī ke aḏẖik kām.
The most sublime of all the actions of this body,
|
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਭਜਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥੨॥
कहि कबीर भजि राम नाम ॥३॥२॥
Kahi Kabīr bẖaj rām nām. ||3||2||
says Kabeer, is to meditate and vibrate on the Lord's Name. ||3||2||
|
ਜੋਇ ਖਸਮੁ ਹੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
जोइ खसमु है जाइआ ॥
Jo▫e kẖasam hai jā▫i▫ā.
The wife gives birth to her husband.
|
ਪੂਤਿ ਬਾਪੁ ਖੇਲਾਇਆ ॥
पूति बापु खेलाइआ ॥
Pūṯ bāp kẖelā▫i▫ā.
The son leads his father in play.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਣਾ ਖੀਰੁ ਪਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
बिनु स्रवणा खीरु पिलाइआ ॥१॥
Bin sarvaṇā kẖīr pilā▫i▫ā. ||1||
Without breasts, the mother nurses her baby. ||1||
|
ਦੇਖਹੁ ਲੋਗਾ ਕਲਿ ਕੋ ਭਾਉ ॥
देखहु लोगा कलि को भाउ ॥
Ḏekẖhu logā kal ko bẖā▫o.
Behold, people! This is how it is in the Dark Age of Kali Yuga.

ਸੁਤਿ ਮੁਕਲਾਈ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सुति मुकलाई अपनी माउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Suṯ muklā▫ī apnī mā▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
The son marries his mother. ||1||Pause||
|
ਪਗਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੁਰੀਆ ਮਾਰਤਾ ॥
पगा बिनु हुरीआ मारता ॥
Pagā bin hurī▫ā mārṯā.
Without feet, the mortal jumps.
|
ਬਦਨੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਖਿਰ ਖਿਰ ਹਾਸਤਾ ॥
बदनै बिनु खिर खिर हासता ॥
Baḏnai bin kẖir kẖir hāsṯā.
Without a mouth, he bursts into laughter.
|
ਨਿਦ੍ਰਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਰੁ ਪੈ ਸੋਵੈ ॥
निद्रा बिनु नरु पै सोवै ॥
Niḏrā bin nar pai sovai.
Without feeling sleepy, he lays down and sleeps.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਸਨ ਖੀਰੁ ਬਿਲੋਵੈ ॥੨॥
बिनु बासन खीरु बिलोवै ॥२॥
Bin bāsan kẖīr bilovai. ||2||
Without a churn, the milk is churned. ||2||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਅਸਥਨ ਗਊ ਲਵੇਰੀ ॥
बिनु असथन गऊ लवेरी ॥
Bin asthan ga▫ū laverī.
Without udders, the cow gives milk.
|
ਪੈਡੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਟ ਘਨੇਰੀ ॥
पैडे बिनु बाट घनेरी ॥
Paide bin bāt gẖanerī.
Without travelling, a long journey is made.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਟ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर बाट न पाई ॥
Bin saṯgur bāt na pā▫ī.
Without the True Guru, the path is not found.
|
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸਮਝਾਈ ॥੩॥੩॥
कहु कबीर समझाई ॥३॥३॥
Kaho Kabīr samjẖā▫ī. ||3||3||
Says Kabeer, see this, and understand. ||3||3||
|
ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਪਠਾਏ ਪੜਨ ਸਾਲ ॥
प्रहलाद पठाए पड़न साल ॥
Parahlāḏ paṯẖā▫e paṛan sāl.
Prahlaad was sent to school.
|
ਸੰਗਿ ਸਖਾ ਬਹੁ ਲੀਏ ਬਾਲ ॥
संगि सखा बहु लीए बाल ॥
Sang sakẖā baho lī▫e bāl.
He took many of his friends along with him.
|
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਪੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਵਸਿ ਆਲ ਜਾਲ ॥
मो कउ कहा पड़्हावसि आल जाल ॥
Mo ka▫o kahā paṛĥāvas āl jāl.
He asked his teacher, "Why do you teach me about worldly affairs?

ਮੇਰੀ ਪਟੀਆ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੋੁਪਾਲ ॥੧॥
मेरी पटीआ लिखि देहु स्री गोपाल ॥१॥
Merī patī▫ā likẖ ḏeh sarī gopāl. ||1||
Write the Name of the Dear Lord on my tablet."||1||
|
ਨਹੀ ਛੋਡਉ ਰੇ ਬਾਬਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ॥
नही छोडउ रे बाबा राम नाम ॥
Nahī cẖẖoda▫o re bābā rām nām.
O Baba, I will not forsake the Name of the Lord.

ਮੇਰੋ ਅਉਰ ਪੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਨ ਸਿਉ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मेरो अउर पड़्हन सिउ नही कामु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Mero a▫or paṛĥan si▫o nahī kām. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I will not bother with any other lessons. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸੰਡੈ ਮਰਕੈ ਕਹਿਓ ਜਾਇ ॥
संडै मरकै कहिओ जाइ ॥
Sandai markai kahi▫o jā▫e.
Sanda and Marka went to the king to complain.
|
ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਬੇਗਿ ਧਾਇ ॥
प्रहलाद बुलाए बेगि धाइ ॥
Parahlāḏ bulā▫e beg ḏẖā▫e.
He sent for Prahlaad to come at once.
|
ਤੂ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਨ ਕੀ ਛੋਡੁ ਬਾਨਿ ॥
तू राम कहन की छोडु बानि ॥
Ŧū rām kahan kī cẖẖod bān.
He said to him, "Stop uttering the Lord's Name.
|
ਤੁਝੁ ਤੁਰਤੁ ਛਡਾਊ ਮੇਰੋ ਕਹਿਓ ਮਾਨਿ ॥੨॥
तुझु तुरतु छडाऊ मेरो कहिओ मानि ॥२॥
Ŧujẖ ṯuraṯ cẖẖadā▫ū mero kahi▫o mān. ||2||
I shall release you at once, if you obey my words."||2||
|
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਹਾ ਸਤਾਵਹੁ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ॥
मो कउ कहा सतावहु बार बार ॥
Mo ka▫o kahā saṯāvahu bār bār.
Prahlaad answered, "Why do you annoy me, over and over again?
|
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਜਲ ਥਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਪਹਾਰ ॥
प्रभि जल थल गिरि कीए पहार ॥
Parabẖ jal thal gir kī▫e pahār.
God created the water, land, hills and mountains.
|
ਇਕੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਛੋਡਉ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਗਾਰਿ ॥
इकु रामु न छोडउ गुरहि गारि ॥
Ik rām na cẖẖoda▫o gurėh gār.
I shall not forsake the One Lord; if I did, I would be going against my Guru.
|
ਮੋ ਕਉ ਘਾਲਿ ਜਾਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਡਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
मो कउ घालि जारि भावै मारि डारि ॥३॥
Mo ka▫o gẖāl jār bẖāvai mār dār. ||3||
You might as well throw me into the fire and kill me."||3||
|
ਕਾਢਿ ਖੜਗੁ ਕੋਪਿਓ ਰਿਸਾਇ ॥
काढि खड़गु कोपिओ रिसाइ ॥
Kādẖ kẖaṛag kopi▫o risā▫e.
The king became angry and drew his sword.
|
ਤੁਝ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਤਾਇ ॥
तुझ राखनहारो मोहि बताइ ॥
Ŧujẖ rākẖanhāro mohi baṯā▫e.
Show me your protector now!
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਥੰਭ ਤੇ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਕੈ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥
प्रभ थ्मभ ते निकसे कै बिसथार ॥
Parabẖ thambẖ ṯe nikse kai bisthār.
So God emerged out of the pillar, and assumed a mighty form.
|
ਹਰਨਾਖਸੁ ਛੇਦਿਓ ਨਖ ਬਿਦਾਰ ॥੪॥
हरनाखसु छेदिओ नख बिदार ॥४॥
Harnākẖas cẖẖeḏi▫o nakẖ biḏār. ||4||
He killed Harnaakhash, tearing him apart with his nails. ||4||
|
ਓਇ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇਵਾਧਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
ओइ परम पुरख देवाधि देव ॥
O▫e param purakẖ ḏevāḏẖ ḏev.
The Supreme Lord God, the Divinity of the divine,
|
ਭਗਤਿ ਹੇਤਿ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਭੇਵ ॥
भगति हेति नरसिंघ भेव ॥
Bẖagaṯ heṯ narsingẖ bẖev.
for the sake of His devotee, assumed the form of the man-lion.
|
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਕੋ ਲਖੈ ਨ ਪਾਰ ॥
कहि कबीर को लखै न पार ॥
Kahi Kabīr ko lakẖai na pār.
Says Kabeer, no one can know the Lord's limits.
|
ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ॥੫॥੪॥
प्रहलाद उधारे अनिक बार ॥५॥४॥
Parahlāḏ uḏẖāre anik bār. ||5||4||
He saves His devotees like Prahlaad over and over again. ||5||4||
|
ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਮਧੇ ਮਦਨ ਚੋਰ ॥
इसु तन मन मधे मदन चोर ॥
Is ṯan man maḏẖe maḏan cẖor.
Within the body and mind are thieves like sexual desire,
|
ਜਿਨਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਹਿਰਿ ਲੀਨ ਮੋਰ ॥
जिनि गिआन रतनु हिरि लीन मोर ॥
Jin gi▫ān raṯan hir līn mor.
which has stolen my jewel of spiritual wisdom.
|
ਮੈ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਹਉ ਕਾਹਿ ॥
मै अनाथु प्रभ कहउ काहि ॥
Mai anāth parabẖ kaha▫o kāhi.
I am a poor orphan, O God; unto whom should I complain?
|
ਕੋ ਕੋ ਨ ਬਿਗੂਤੋ ਮੈ ਕੋ ਆਹਿ ॥੧॥
को को न बिगूतो मै को आहि ॥१॥
Ko ko na bigūṯo mai ko āhi. ||1||
Who has not been ruined by sexual desire? What am I? ||1||
|
ਮਾਧਉ ਦਾਰੁਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
माधउ दारुन दुखु सहिओ न जाइ ॥
Māḏẖa▫o ḏārun ḏukẖ sahi▫o na jā▫e.
O Lord, I cannot endure this agonizing pain.
|
ਮੇਰੋ ਚਪਲ ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਸਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
मेरो चपल बुधि सिउ कहा बसाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Mero cẖapal buḏẖ si▫o kahā basā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
What power does my fickle mind have against it? ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦਨ ਸਿਵ ਸੁਕਾਦਿ ॥
सनक सनंदन सिव सुकादि ॥
Sanak sananḏan siv sukāḏ.
Sanak, Sanandan, Shiva and Suk Dayv
|
ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਜਾਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿ ॥
नाभि कमल जाने ब्रहमादि ॥
Nābẖ kamal jāne barahmāḏ.
were born out of Brahma's naval chakra.
|
ਕਬਿ ਜਨ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਟਾਧਾਰਿ ॥
कबि जन जोगी जटाधारि ॥
Kab jan jogī jatāḏẖār.
The poets and the Yogis with their matted hair
|
ਸਭ ਆਪਨ ਅਉਸਰ ਚਲੇ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
सभ आपन अउसर चले सारि ॥२॥
Sabẖ āpan a▫osar cẖale sār. ||2||
all lived their lives with good behavior. ||2||
|
ਤੂ ਅਥਾਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਥਾਹ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
तू अथाहु मोहि थाह नाहि ॥
Ŧū athāhu mohi thāh nāhi.
You are Unfathomable; I cannot know Your depth.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਹਉ ਕਾਹਿ ॥
प्रभ दीना नाथ दुखु कहउ काहि ॥
Parabẖ ḏīnā nāth ḏukẖ kaha▫o kāhi.
O God, Master of the meek, unto whom should I tell my pains?
|
ਮੋਰੋ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਥਿ ਧੀਰ ॥
मोरो जनम मरन दुखु आथि धीर ॥
Moro janam maran ḏukẖ āth ḏẖīr.
Please rid me of the pains of birth and death, and bless me with peace.

ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਗੁਨ ਰਉ ਕਬੀਰ ॥੩॥੫॥
सुख सागर गुन रउ कबीर ॥३॥५॥
Sukẖ sāgar gun ra▫o Kabīr. ||3||5||
Kabeer utters the Glorious Praises of God, the Ocean of peace. ||3||5||
|
ਨਾਇਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਬਨਜਾਰੇ ਪਾਚ ॥
नाइकु एकु बनजारे पाच ॥
Nā▫ik ek banjāre pācẖ.
There is one merchant and five traders.
|
ਬਰਧ ਪਚੀਸਕ ਸੰਗੁ ਕਾਚ ॥
बरध पचीसक संगु काच ॥
Baraḏẖ pacẖīsak sang kācẖ.
The twenty-five oxen carry false merchandise.
|
ਨਉ ਬਹੀਆਂ ਦਸ ਗੋਨਿ ਆਹਿ ॥
नउ बहीआं दस गोनि आहि ॥
Na▫o bahī▫āʼn ḏas gon āhi.
There are nine poles which hold the ten bags.
|
ਕਸਨਿ ਬਹਤਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਤਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
कसनि बहतरि लागी ताहि ॥१॥
Kasan bahṯar lāgī ṯāhi. ||1||
The body is tied by the seventy-two ropes. ||1||
|
ਮੋਹਿ ਐਸੇ ਬਨਜ ਸਿਉ ਨਹੀਨ ਕਾਜੁ ॥
मोहि ऐसे बनज सिउ नहीन काजु ॥
Mohi aise banaj si▫o nahīn kāj.
I don't care at all about such commerce.
