ਲਬੁ ਅਧੇਰਾ ਬੰਦੀਖਾਨਾ ਅਉਗਣ ਪੈਰਿ ਲੁਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
लबु अधेरा बंदीखाना अउगण पैरि लुहारी ॥३॥
Lab aḏẖerā banḏīkẖānā a▫ugaṇ pair luhārī. ||3||
Avarice is the dark dungeon and the demerits are the fetters on the feet.

ਪੂੰਜੀ ਮਾਰ ਪਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਮੁਦਗਰ ਪਾਪੁ ਕਰੇ ਕੋੁਟਵਾਰੀ ॥
पूंजी मार पवै नित मुदगर पापु करे कोटवारी ॥
Pūnjī mār pavai niṯ muḏgar pāp kare kotvārī.
Wealth ever beats the soul with its mallet and sin does the duty of a police officer.

ਭਾਵੈ ਚੰਗਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਮੰਦਾ ਜੈਸੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
भावै चंगा भावै मंदा जैसी नदरि तुम्हारी ॥४॥
Bẖāvai cẖanga bẖāvai manḏā jaisī naḏar ṯumĥārī. ||4||
Whether good, whether bad; the man is, as Thou look upon him, O Lord.

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਉ ਅਲਹੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸੇਖਾਂ ਆਈ ਵਾਰੀ ॥
आदि पुरख कउ अलहु कहीऐ सेखां आई वारी ॥
Āḏ purakẖ ka▫o alhu kahī▫ai sekẖāʼn ā▫ī vārī.
The Primal Lord is called Allah, The Turn the Muslim divines has come.

ਦੇਵਲ ਦੇਵਤਿਆ ਕਰੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਐਸੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਚਾਲੀ ॥੫॥
देवल देवतिआ करु लागा ऐसी कीरति चाली ॥५॥
Ḏeval ḏeviṯi▫ā kar lāgā aisī kīraṯ cẖālī. ||5||
Tax is levied on the temples of goods Such a practice has come into vogue.

ਕੂਜਾ ਬਾਂਗ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਮੁਸਲਾ ਨੀਲ ਰੂਪ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
कूजा बांग निवाज मुसला नील रूप बनवारी ॥
Kūjā bāʼng nivāj muslā nīl rūp banvārī.
The ablution-pots, calls to prayer, prayers and prayer-carpets are seen everywhere and the Lord appears in blue form.

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਮੀਆ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਜੀਆਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਅਵਰ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੬॥
घरि घरि मीआ सभनां जीआं बोली अवर तुमारी ॥६॥
Gẖar gẖar mī▫ā sabẖnāʼn jī▫āʼn bolī avar ṯumārī. ||6||
In every house all the persons say 'Mian', your language has become different, O men.

ਜੇ ਤੂ ਮੀਰ ਮਹੀਪਤਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਉਣ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
जे तू मीर महीपति साहिबु कुदरति कउण हमारी ॥
Je ṯū mīr mahīpaṯ sāhib kuḏraṯ ka▫uṇ hamārī.
If Thou, O Lord, wish to appoint Mir Babar the King of earth; what power have I to challenge it?

ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਟ ਸਲਾਮੁ ਕਰਹਿਗੇ ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
चारे कुंट सलामु करहिगे घरि घरि सिफति तुम्हारी ॥७॥
Cẖāre kunt salām karhige gẖar gẖar sifaṯ ṯumĥārī. ||7||
In the four directions the mortals make Thee obeisance and in every house Thine praises are sung, O Lord.

ਤੀਰਥ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁੰਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਿਛੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਦਿਹਾੜੀ ॥
तीरथ सिम्रिति पुंन दान किछु लाहा मिलै दिहाड़ी ॥
Ŧirath simriṯ punn ḏān kicẖẖ lāhā milai ḏihāṛī.
The profit, which is obtained as wages from pilgrimages to shrines, reading of Simritis, and giving of alms and charities,

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਮੇਕਾ ਘੜੀ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੮॥
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई मेका घड़ी सम्हाली ॥८॥१॥८॥
Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī mekā gẖaṛī samĥālī. ||8||1||8||
is gained in a moment by remembering the glory-bestowing Name, O Nanak!

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹਿੰਡੋਲੁ ਘਰੁ ੨ ਮਹਲਾ ੪
बसंतु हिंडोलु घरु २ महला ४

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By the True Guru's grace, He is obtained.

ਕਾਂਇਆ ਨਗਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਪਲੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਈ ॥
कांइआ नगरि इकु बालकु वसिआ खिनु पलु थिरु न रहाई ॥
Kāʼn▫i▫ā nagar ik bālak vasi▫ā kẖin pal thir na rahā▫ī.
Within the township of the body abides a child, who rests not even for a trice and a moment.

ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੇ ਬਾਰੰ ਬਾਰ ਭਰਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
अनिक उपाव जतन करि थाके बारं बार भरमाई ॥१॥
Anik upāv jaṯan kar thāke bāraʼn bār bẖarmā▫ī. ||1||
I have grown weary of making various efforts and endeavours, but it wanders incessantly.
|
ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੁ ॥
मेरे ठाकुर बालकु इकतु घरि आणु ॥
Mere ṯẖākur bālak ikaṯ gẖar āṇ.
O my Master, bring the child mind to the home of Oneness.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु मिलै त पूरा पाईऐ भजु राम नामु नीसाणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṯgur milai ṯa pūrā pā▫ī▫ai bẖaj rām nām nīsāṇ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
If man meets the True Guru, then obtains he the Perfect Lord. Contemplating the Lord, he becomes renowned. Pause.
|
ਇਹੁ ਮਿਰਤਕੁ ਮੜਾ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਵਸਿਆ ॥
इहु मिरतकु मड़ा सरीरु है सभु जगु जितु राम नामु नही वसिआ ॥
Ih mirṯak maṛā sarīr hai sabẖ jag jiṯ rām nām nahī vasi▫ā.
These bodies of all the men are like the dead corpses, in which the Lord's Name abides not.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਦਕੁ ਚੁਆਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਆ ਰਸਿਆ ॥੨॥
राम नामु गुरि उदकु चुआइआ फिरि हरिआ होआ रसिआ ॥२॥
Rām nām gur uḏak cẖu▫ā▫i▫ā fir hari▫ā ho▫ā rasi▫ā. ||2||
When the Guru made man taste the water the Guru made man taste the water of the Lord's Name, he enjoyed it and flowered again.
|
ਮੈ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਨਿਰਖਤ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਖੋਜਿਆ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਚਲਤੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥
मै निरखत निरखत सरीरु सभु खोजिआ इकु गुरमुखि चलतु दिखाइआ ॥
Mai nirkẖaṯ nirkẖaṯ sarīr sabẖ kẖoji▫ā ik gurmukẖ cẖalaṯ ḏikẖā▫i▫ā.
I have examined, examined and searched my entire body, and the supreme Guru, has shown me a wondrous spectacle.

ਬਾਹਰੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਮੁਏ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
बाहरु खोजि मुए सभि साकत हरि गुरमती घरि पाइआ ॥३॥
Bāhar kẖoj mu▫e sabẖ sākaṯ har gurmaṯī gẖar pā▫i▫ā. ||3||
All the mammon-worshipers perished by searching without, but I, by the Guru's instruction found he Lord within my home.
|
ਦੀਨਾ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਜਿਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਬਿਦਰ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
दीना दीन दइआल भए है जिउ क्रिसनु बिदर घरि आइआ ॥
Ḏīnā ḏīn ḏa▫i▫āl bẖa▫e hai ji▫o krisan biḏar gẖar ā▫i▫ā.
The Lord has become compassionate to the meekest of the meek like Krishana, who went to Bidur's house.

ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੁਦਾਮਾ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਧਾਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਗੈ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
मिलिओ सुदामा भावनी धारि सभु किछु आगै दालदु भंजि समाइआ ॥४॥
Mili▫o suḏāmā bẖāvnī ḏẖār sabẖ kicẖẖ āgai ḏālaḏ bẖanj samā▫i▫ā. ||4||
Embracing love for him, Sudama met Krishana, upon which Krishana shattered and removed his poverty by sending everything before his arrival at home.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਰਖਾਈ ॥
राम नाम की पैज वडेरी मेरे ठाकुरि आपि रखाई ॥
Rām nām kī paij vaderī mere ṯẖākur āp rakẖā▫ī.
Great is the glory of the Lord's Name, My Lord, of Himself, has enshrined it within me,
|
ਜੇ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਰਹਿ ਬਖੀਲੀ ਇਕ ਰਤੀ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਘਟਾਈ ॥੫॥
जे सभि साकत करहि बखीली इक रती तिलु न घटाई ॥५॥
Je sabẖ sākaṯ karahi bakẖīlī ik raṯī ṯil na gẖatā▫ī. ||5||
Even if all the apostates practise slandering me, it diminishes not even by a trice and an iota.
|
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥
जन की उसतति है राम नामा दह दिसि सोभा पाई ॥
Jan kī usṯaṯ hai rām nāmā ḏah ḏis sobẖā pā▫ī.
The Lord's Name is His slave's praise, by which he attains honour in ten directions.
|
ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਖਵਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਅਪਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਲੂਕੀ ਲਾਈ ॥੬॥
निंदकु साकतु खवि न सकै तिलु अपणै घरि लूकी लाई ॥६॥
Ninḏak sākaṯ kẖav na sakai ṯil apṇai gẖar lūkī lā▫ī. ||6||
The slanderers and mammon worshipper can endure it not even a bit. They set fire to their own house.
|
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥
जन कउ जनु मिलि सोभा पावै गुण महि गुण परगासा ॥
Jan ka▫o jan mil sobẖā pāvai guṇ mėh guṇ pargāsā.
The saint meeting with the saint gathers glory and reflecting on the Lord's virtues, their virtues becomes manifest.

ਮੇਰੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੋ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੭॥
मेरे ठाकुर के जन प्रीतम पिआरे जो होवहि दासनि दासा ॥७॥
Mere ṯẖākur ke jan parīṯam pi▫āre jo hovėh ḏāsan ḏāsā. ||7||
My Lords slaves, who are the servants of His servants, are dear and sweet unto Him.
|
ਆਪੇ ਜਲੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥
आपे जलु अपर्मपरु करता आपे मेलि मिलावै ॥
Āpe jal aprampar karṯā āpe mel milāvai.
The Infinite Creator is Himself the life's water and Himself unites one in His union.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਜਿਉ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੮॥੧॥੯॥
नानक गुरमुखि सहजि मिलाए जिउ जलु जलहि समावै ॥८॥१॥९॥
Nānak gurmukẖ sahj milā▫e ji▫o jal jalėh samāvai. ||8||1||9||
As water blends with water, so does the supreme Guru, unite the mortal with the Lord.
