ਤੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਕਿਹ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
तै साचा मानिआ किह बिचारि ॥१॥
Ŧai sācẖā māni▫ā kih bicẖār. ||1||
What thought has made thee deem it real?
|
ਧਨੁ ਦਾਰਾ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਗ੍ਰੇਹ ॥
धनु दारा स्मपति ग्रेह ॥
Ḏẖan ḏārā sampaṯ gareh.
Wealth, wife, property and house;
|
ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਸਮਝ ਲੇਹ ॥੨॥
कछु संगि न चालै समझ लेह ॥२॥
Kacẖẖ sang na cẖālai samajẖ leh. ||2||
nothing shall go with thee, understand thou this.
|
ਇਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
इक भगति नाराइन होइ संगि ॥
Ik bẖagaṯ nārā▫in ho▫e sang.
The Lord's meditation alone shall depart with thee;
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਤਿਹ ਏਕ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੩॥੪॥
कहु नानक भजु तिह एक रंगि ॥३॥४॥
Kaho Nānak bẖaj ṯih ek rang. ||3||4||
Says Nanak, remember thou Him with pure love.

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੯ ॥
बसंतु महला ९ ॥
Basanṯ mėhlā 9.
Basant 9th Guru.
|
ਕਹਾ ਭੂਲਿਓ ਰੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਲੋਭ ਲਾਗ ॥
कहा भूलिओ रे झूठे लोभ लाग ॥
Kahā bẖūli▫o re jẖūṯẖe lobẖ lāg.
Attached to false avarice, why get astray thou, O man?
|
ਕਛੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਨਾਹਿਨ ਅਜਹੁ ਜਾਗ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
कछु बिगरिओ नाहिन अजहु जाग ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Kacẖẖ bigri▫o nāhin ajahu jāg. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Nothing has been spoiled yet. Wake thou up even now. Pause.
|
ਸਮ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਕੈ ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
सम सुपनै कै इहु जगु जानु ॥
Sam supnai kai ih jag jān.
Know thou that this world is like a dream.
|
ਬਿਨਸੈ ਛਿਨ ਮੈ ਸਾਚੀ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
बिनसै छिन मै साची मानु ॥१॥
Binsai cẖẖin mai sācẖī mān. ||1||
It shall perish in a moment. Accept thou this as true.
|
ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਤ ਨੀਤ ॥
संगि तेरै हरि बसत नीत ॥
Sang ṯerai har basaṯ nīṯ.
God, ever abides with thee.
|
ਨਿਸ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਭਜੁ ਤਾਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥੨॥
निस बासुर भजु ताहि मीत ॥२॥
Nis bāsur bẖaj ṯāhi mīṯ. ||2||
Night and day remember thou Him, O my friend.
|
ਬਾਰ ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਸਹਾਇ ॥
बार अंत की होइ सहाइ ॥
Bār anṯ kī ho▫e sahā▫e.
At the last moment, God shall be thy succourer.
|
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਨ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਗਾਇ ॥੩॥੫॥
कहु नानक गुन ता के गाइ ॥३॥५॥
Kaho Nānak gun ṯā ke gā▫e. ||3||5||
Says Nanak, sing thou the praises of Him.

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਘਰੁ ੧ ਦੁਤੁਕੀਆ
बसंतु महला १ असटपदीआ घरु १ दुतुकीआ
Basanṯ mėhlā 1 asatpaḏī▫ā gẖar 1 ḏuṯukī▫ā
Basant 1st Guru. Ashtpadis Do-tukia.

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
There is but One God. By the True Guru's He is obtained.
|
ਜਗੁ ਕਊਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
जगु कऊआ नामु नही चीति ॥
Jag ka▫ū▫ā nām nahī cẖīṯ.
The world is like a crow that cherishes not the Lord's Name,
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਗਿਰੈ ਦੇਖੁ ਭੀਤਿ ॥
नामु बिसारि गिरै देखु भीति ॥
Nām bisār girai ḏekẖ bẖīṯ.
and forsaking the Name, falls on the bait that is sees.
|
ਮਨੂਆ ਡੋਲੈ ਚੀਤਿ ਅਨੀਤਿ ॥
मनूआ डोलै चीति अनीति ॥
Manū▫ā dolai cẖīṯ anīṯ.
The mind wabbles through evil-intent.
|
ਜਗ ਸਿਉ ਤੂਟੀ ਝੂਠ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
जग सिउ तूटी झूठ परीति ॥१॥
Jag si▫o ṯūtī jẖūṯẖ parīṯ. ||1||
So I have sundered my love with the false world.
|
ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਬਿਖੁ ਬਜਰੁ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
कामु क्रोधु बिखु बजरु भारु ॥
Kām kroḏẖ bikẖ bajar bẖār.
One carries the unbearable load of lust, wrath and other sins.
|
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੈਸੇ ਗੁਨ ਚਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
नाम बिना कैसे गुन चारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Nām binā kaise gun cẖār. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Without the Name, how can man obtain meritorious conduct? Pause.
|
ਘਰੁ ਬਾਲੂ ਕਾ ਘੂਮਨ ਘੇਰਿ ॥
घरु बालू का घूमन घेरि ॥
Gẖar bālū kā gẖūman gẖer.
That the body house is a whirlpool of sand,
|
ਬਰਖਸਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੁਦਬੁਦਾ ਹੇਰਿ ॥
बरखसि बाणी बुदबुदा हेरि ॥
Barkẖas baṇī buḏbuḏā her.
and bubble that are formed when the rain falls; thou realize this.
|
ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਬੂੰਦ ਤੇ ਧਰਿ ਚਕੁ ਫੇਰਿ ॥
मात्र बूंद ते धरि चकु फेरि ॥
Maṯar būnḏ ṯe ḏẖar cẖak fer.
When the Lord's wheel turns, then the human body is made from a mere bubble.
|
ਸਰਬ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਕੀ ਚੇਰਿ ॥੨॥
सरब जोति नामै की चेरि ॥२॥
Sarab joṯ nāmai kī cẖer. ||2||
All the souls are the hand-maidens of the Lord's Name.
|
ਸਰਬ ਉਪਾਇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੋਰੁ ॥
सरब उपाइ गुरू सिरि मोरु ॥
Sarab upā▫e gurū sir mor.
My great and supreme Lord has created all.
|
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਪਗ ਲਾਗਉ ਤੋਰ ॥
भगति करउ पग लागउ तोर ॥
Bẖagaṯ kara▫o pag lāga▫o ṯor.
O Lord, I perform Thy service and fall at Thine feet.
|
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੋ ਚਾਹਉ ਤੁਝ ਓਰੁ ॥
नामि रतो चाहउ तुझ ओरु ॥
Nām raṯo cẖāha▫o ṯujẖ or.
Imbued with Thy Name, O Lord, I ever desire to be Thy wards.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਦੁਰਾਇ ਚਲੈ ਸੋ ਚੋਰੁ ॥੩॥
नामु दुराइ चलै सो चोरु ॥३॥
Nām ḏurā▫e cẖalai so cẖor. ||3||
He who departs without making manifest the Lord's Name within himself is a thief.
|
ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ਬਿਖੁ ਅੰਚਲਿ ਪਾਇ ॥
पति खोई बिखु अंचलि पाइ ॥
Paṯ kẖo▫ī bikẖ ancẖal pā▫e.
Gathering sins in his skirt, man loses honour.
|
ਸਾਚ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੋ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
साच नामि रतो पति सिउ घरि जाइ ॥
Sācẖ nām raṯo paṯ si▫o gẖar jā▫e.
Imbued with the True Name's love, he goes to his home with honour.
|
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
जो किछु कीन्हसि प्रभु रजाइ ॥
Jo kicẖẖ kīnĥas parabẖ rajā▫e.
Whatever the Lord does; that is in His will.
|
ਭੈ ਮਾਨੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥੪॥
भै मानै निरभउ मेरी माइ ॥४॥
Bẖai mānai nirbẖa▫o merī mā▫e. ||4||
Whosoever lives in the Lord's fear; he becomes fear-free, O my mother.
|
ਕਾਮਨਿ ਚਾਹੈ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਭੋਗੁ ॥
कामनि चाहै सुंदरि भोगु ॥
Kāman cẖāhai sunḏar bẖog.
The woman desires beauteous pleasures of flesh.
|
ਪਾਨ ਫੂਲ ਮੀਠੇ ਰਸ ਰੋਗ ॥
पान फूल मीठे रस रोग ॥
Pān fūl mīṯẖe ras rog.
Betel-leaves, flower-garland and sweet dainties lead to maladies.
|
ਖੀਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਤੇਤੋ ਸੋਗ ॥
खीलै बिगसै तेतो सोग ॥
Kẖīlai bigsai ṯeṯo sog.
The more she sports and enjoys, the more she comes to grief.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਸਿ ਹੋਗ ॥੫॥
प्रभ सरणागति कीन्हसि होग ॥५॥
Parabẖ sarṇāgaṯ kīnĥas hog. ||5||
If she enters the Lord's refuge, what she wishes to do that comes to pass.
|
ਕਾਪੜੁ ਪਹਿਰਸਿ ਅਧਿਕੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
कापड़ु पहिरसि अधिकु सीगारु ॥
Kāpaṛ pahiras aḏẖik sīgār.
She wears robes and makes many decorations.
|
ਮਾਟੀ ਫੂਲੀ ਰੂਪੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ॥
माटी फूली रूपु बिकारु ॥
Mātī fūlī rūp bikār.
The body is but the dust mouled flower, and beauty leads to sins.
|
ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਬਾਂਧੋ ਬਾਰੁ ॥
आसा मनसा बांधो बारु ॥
Āsā mansā bāʼnḏẖo bār.
Hope and desire have barred the door to God.
|
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੂਨਾ ਘਰੁ ਬਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
नाम बिना सूना घरु बारु ॥६॥
Nām binā sūnā gẖar bār. ||6||
Without the Name, forlorn is one's hearth and home.
|
ਗਾਛਹੁ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਆਰਿ ॥
गाछहु पुत्री राज कुआरि ॥
Gācẖẖahu puṯrī rāj ku▫ār.
O princess, my daughter, hasten away from here.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਭਣਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਦੋਤੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ॥
नामु भणहु सचु दोतु सवारि ॥
Nām bẖaṇahu sacẖ ḏoṯ savār.
To embellish thine days, utter the True Name.
|
ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅਧਾਰਿ ॥
प्रिउ सेवहु प्रभ प्रेम अधारि ॥
Pari▫o sevhu parabẖ parem aḏẖār.
Leaning on His love, serve thou thy loved Lord.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਸ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥੭॥
गुर सबदी बिखु तिआस निवारि ॥७॥
Gur sabḏī bikẖ ṯi▫ās nivār. ||7||
By the Guru's word, abandon thou thy thirst for evil deeds.
|
ਮੋਹਨਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
मोहनि मोहि लीआ मनु मोहि ॥
Mohan mohi lī▫ā man mohi.
My fascinating Lord, has fascinated my mind.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨਾ ਤੋਹਿ ॥
गुर कै सबदि पछाना तोहि ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ pacẖẖānā ṯohi.
Through the Guru's word, I have recognised Thee.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਢੇ ਚਾਹਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
नानक ठाढे चाहहि प्रभू दुआरि ॥
Nānak ṯẖādẖe cẖāhėh parabẖū ḏu▫ār.
Standing at Thy door, O Lord, Nanak longs for Thy vision.

ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੮॥੧॥
तेरे नामि संतोखे किरपा धारि ॥८॥१॥
Ŧere nām sanṯokẖe kirpā ḏẖār. ||8||1||
I am content with Thy Name; Thou shower Thine benediction on me, O Lord!

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥
बसंतु महला १ ॥
Basanṯ mėhlā 1.

ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲਉ ਭਰਮਸਿ ਆਇ ਜਾਇ ॥
मनु भूलउ भरमसि आइ जाइ ॥
Man bẖūla▫o bẖarmas ā▫e jā▫e.
Straying in doubt, the soul comes and goes.
|
ਅਤਿ ਲੁਬਧ ਲੁਭਾਨਉ ਬਿਖਮ ਮਾਇ ॥
अति लुबध लुभानउ बिखम माइ ॥
Aṯ lubaḏẖ lubẖāna▫o bikẖam mā▫e.
The greed of poisonous mammon has greatly lured it.
|
ਨਹ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਏਕ ਭਾਇ ॥
नह असथिरु दीसै एक भाइ ॥
Nah asthir ḏīsai ek bẖā▫e.
It is seen not fixed in the love of One Lord.
|
ਜਿਉ ਮੀਨ ਕੁੰਡਲੀਆ ਕੰਠਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥
जिउ मीन कुंडलीआ कंठि पाइ ॥१॥
Ji▫o mīn kundlī▫ā kanṯẖ pā▫e. ||1||
Like the fish, its neck is pierced through with the hook of worldliness.
|
ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲਉ ਸਮਝਸਿ ਸਾਚ ਨਾਇ ॥
मनु भूलउ समझसि साच नाइ ॥
Man bẖūla▫o samjẖas sācẖ nā▫e.
The strayed soul is instructed through the True Name.
|
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੇ ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर सबदु बीचारे सहज भाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur sabaḏ bīcẖāre sahj bẖā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Then it naturally reflects on the Guru's word. Pause.
