ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ਘਰੁ ਦੁਤੁਕੇ
बसंतु महला ५ घरु १ दुतुके
Basanṯ mėhlā 5 gẖar 1 ḏuṯuke
Basant, Fifth Mehl, First House, Du-Tukay:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
Ik▫oaʼnkār saṯgur parsāḏ.
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਉ ਕਰਿ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ
गुरु सेवउ करि नमसकार ॥
Gur seva▫o kar namaskār.
I serve the Guru, and humbly bow to Him.

ਆਜੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਮੰਗਲਚਾਰ
आजु हमारै मंगलचार ॥
Āj hamārai mangalcẖār.
Today is a day of celebration for me.

ਆਜੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ
आजु हमारै महा अनंद ॥
Āj hamārai mahā anand.
Today I am in supreme bliss.

ਚਿੰਤ ਲਥੀ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੧॥
चिंत लथी भेटे गोबिंद ॥१॥
Cẖinṯ lathī bẖete gobinḏ. ||1||
My anxiety is dispelled, and I have met the Lord of the Universe. ||1||

ਆਜੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਬਸੰਤ
आजु हमारै ग्रिहि बसंत ॥
Āj hamārai garihi basanṯ.
Today, it is springtime in my household.

ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
गुन गाए प्रभ तुम्ह बेअंत ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gun gā▫e parabẖ ṯumĥ be▫anṯ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I sing Your Glorious Praises, O Infinite Lord God. ||1||Pause||

ਆਜੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਬਨੇ ਫਾਗ
आजु हमारै बने फाग ॥
Āj hamārai bane fāg.
Today, I am celebrating the festival of Phalgun.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੰਗੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੇਲਨ ਲਾਗ
प्रभ संगी मिलि खेलन लाग ॥
Parabẖ sangī mil kẖelan lāg.
Joining with God's companions, I have begun to play.

ਹੋਲੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਸੰਤ ਸੇਵ
होली कीनी संत सेव ॥
Holī kīnī sanṯ sev.
I celebrate the festival of Holi by serving the Saints.

ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਅਤਿ ਲਾਲ ਦੇਵ ॥੨॥
रंगु लागा अति लाल देव ॥२॥
Rang lāgā aṯ lāl ḏev. ||2||
I am imbued with the deep crimson color of the Lord's Divine Love. ||2||

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਓ ਅਤਿ ਅਨੂਪ
मनु तनु मउलिओ अति अनूप ॥
Man ṯan ma▫uli▫o aṯ anūp.
My mind and body have blossomed forth, in utter, incomparable beauty.

ਸੂਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਛਾਵ ਧੂਪ
सूकै नाही छाव धूप ॥
Sūkai nāhī cẖẖāv ḏẖūp.
They do not dry out in either sunshine or shade;

ਸਗਲੀ ਰੂਤੀ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ
सगली रूती हरिआ होइ ॥
Saglī rūṯī hari▫ā ho▫e.
they flourish in all seasons.

ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਦੇਵ ॥੩॥
सद बसंत गुर मिले देव ॥३॥
Saḏ basanṯ gur mile ḏev. ||3||
It is always springtime, when I meet with the Divine Guru. ||3||

ਬਿਰਖੁ ਜਮਿਓ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਜਾਤ
बिरखु जमिओ है पारजात ॥
Birakẖ jami▫o hai pārjāṯ.
The wish-fulfilling Elysian Tree has sprouted and grown.

ਫੂਲ ਲਗੇ ਫਲ ਰਤਨ ਭਾਂਤਿ
फूल लगे फल रतन भांति ॥
Fūl lage fal raṯan bẖāʼnṯ.
It bears flowers and fruits, jewels of all sorts.

ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਨੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਹ ਗਾਇ
त्रिपति अघाने हरि गुणह गाइ ॥
Ŧaripaṯ agẖāne har guṇah gā▫e.
I am satisfied and fulfilled, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੪॥੧॥
जन नानक हरि हरि हरि धिआइ ॥४॥१॥
Jan Nānak har har har ḏẖi▫ā▫e. ||4||1||
Servant Nanak meditates on the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||4||1||

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ
बसंतु महला ५ ॥
Basanṯ mėhlā 5.
Basant, Fifth Mehl:

ਹਟਵਾਣੀ ਧਨ ਮਾਲ ਹਾਟੁ ਕੀਤੁ
हटवाणी धन माल हाटु कीतु ॥
Hatvāṇī ḏẖan māl hāt kīṯ.
The shopkeeper deals in merchandise for profit.

ਜੂਆਰੀ ਜੂਏ ਮਾਹਿ ਚੀਤੁ
जूआरी जूए माहि चीतु ॥
Jū▫ārī jū▫e māhi cẖīṯ.
The gambler's consciousness is focused on gambling.

ਅਮਲੀ ਜੀਵੈ ਅਮਲੁ ਖਾਇ
अमली जीवै अमलु खाइ ॥
Amlī jīvai amal kẖā▫e.
The opium addict lives by consuming opium.

ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥
तिउ हरि जनु जीवै हरि धिआइ ॥१॥
Ŧi▫o har jan jīvai har ḏẖi▫ā▫e. ||1||
In the same way, the humble servant of the Lord lives by meditating on the Lord. ||1||

ਅਪਨੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਰਚੈ
अपनै रंगि सभु को रचै ॥
Apnai rang sabẖ ko racẖai.
Everyone is absorbed in his own pleasures.

ਜਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जितु प्रभि लाइआ तितु तितु लगै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jiṯ parabẖ lā▫i▫ā ṯiṯ ṯiṯ lagai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
He is attached to whatever God attaches him to. ||1||Pause||

ਮੇਘ ਸਮੈ ਮੋਰ ਨਿਰਤਿਕਾਰ
मेघ समै मोर निरतिकार ॥
Megẖ samai mor nirṯikār.
When the clouds and the rain come, the peacocks dance.

ਚੰਦ ਦੇਖਿ ਬਿਗਸਹਿ ਕਉਲਾਰ
चंद देखि बिगसहि कउलार ॥
Cẖanḏ ḏekẖ bigsahi ka▫ulār.
Seeing the moon, the lotus blossoms.

ਮਾਤਾ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਦੇਖਿ ਅਨੰਦ
माता बारिक देखि अनंद ॥
Māṯā bārik ḏekẖ anand.
When the mother sees her infant, she is happy.

ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੨॥
तिउ हरि जन जीवहि जपि गोबिंद ॥२॥
Ŧi▫o har jan jīvėh jap gobinḏ. ||2||
In the same way, the humble servant of the Lord lives by meditating on the Lord of the Universe. ||2||

ਸਿੰਘ ਰੁਚੈ ਸਦ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਮਾਸ
सिंघ रुचै सद भोजनु मास ॥
Singẖ rucẖai saḏ bẖojan mās.
The tiger always wants to eat meat.

ਰਣੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੂਰੇ ਚਿਤ ਉਲਾਸ
रणु देखि सूरे चित उलास ॥
Raṇ ḏekẖ sūre cẖiṯ ulās.
Gazing upon the battlefield, the warrior's mind is exalted.

ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਅਤਿ ਧਨ ਪਿਆਰੁ
किरपन कउ अति धन पिआरु ॥
Kirpan ka▫o aṯ ḏẖan pi▫ār.
The miser is totally in love with his wealth.

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
हरि जन कउ हरि हरि आधारु ॥३॥
Har jan ka▫o har har āḏẖār. ||3||
The humble servant of the Lord leans on the Support of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ਸਰਬ ਰੰਗ ਇਕ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਹਿ
सरब रंग इक रंग माहि ॥
Sarab rang ik rang māhi.
All love is contained in the Love of the One Lord.

ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ
सरब सुखा सुख हरि कै नाइ ॥
Sarab sukẖā sukẖ har kai nā▫e.
All comforts are contained in the Comfort of the Lord's Name.

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਇਹੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ
तिसहि परापति इहु निधानु ॥
Ŧisėh parāpaṯ ih niḏẖān.
He alone receives this treasure,

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੨॥
नानक गुरु जिसु करे दानु ॥४॥२॥
Nānak gur jis kare ḏān. ||4||2||
O Nanak, unto whom the Guru gives His gift. ||4||2||

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ
बसंतु महला ५ ॥
Basanṯ mėhlā 5.
Basant, Fifth Mehl:

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ
तिसु बसंतु जिसु प्रभु क्रिपालु ॥
Ŧis basanṯ jis parabẖ kirpāl.
He alone experiences this springtime of the soul, unto whom God grants His Grace.

ਤਿਸੁ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ
तिसु बसंतु जिसु गुरु दइआलु ॥
Ŧis basanṯ jis gur ḏa▫i▫āl.
He alone experiences this springtime of the soul, unto whom the Guru is merciful.

ਮੰਗਲੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਏਕੁ ਕਾਮੁ
मंगलु तिस कै जिसु एकु कामु ॥
Mangal ṯis kai jis ek kām.
He alone is joyful, who works for the One Lord.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥
तिसु सद बसंतु जिसु रिदै नामु ॥१॥
Ŧis saḏ basanṯ jis riḏai nām. ||1||
He alone experiences this eternal springtime of the soul, within whose heart the Naam, the Name of the Lord, abides. ||1||

ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਗਨੀ
ग्रिहि ता के बसंतु गनी ॥
Garihi ṯā ke basanṯ ganī.
This spring comes only to those homes,

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਧੁਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ
जा कै कीरतनु हरि धुनी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Jā kai kīrṯan har ḏẖunī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
in which the melody of the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises resounds. ||1||Pause||

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮਉਲਿ ਮਨਾ
प्रीति पारब्रहम मउलि मना ॥
Parīṯ pārbarahm ma▫ul manā.
O mortal, let your love for the Supreme Lord God blossom forth.

ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਪੂਛਿ ਜਨਾਂ
गिआनु कमाईऐ पूछि जनां ॥
Gi▫ān kamā▫ī▫ai pūcẖẖ janāʼn.
Practice spiritual wisdom, and consult the humble servants of the Lord.

ਸੋ ਤਪਸੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗੁ
सो तपसी जिसु साधसंगु ॥
So ṯapsī jis sāḏẖsang.
He alone is an ascetic, who joins the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਸਦ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਰੰਗੁ ॥੨॥
सद धिआनी जिसु गुरहि रंगु ॥२॥
Saḏ ḏẖi▫ānī jis gurėh rang. ||2||
He alone dwells in deep, continual meditation, who loves his Guru. ||2||

ਸੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਭਉ ਪਇਆ
से निरभउ जिन्ह भउ पइआ ॥
Se nirbẖa▫o jinĥ bẖa▫o pa▫i▫ā.
He alone is fearless, who has the Fear of God.

ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ
सो सुखीआ जिसु भ्रमु गइआ ॥
So sukẖī▫ā jis bẖaram ga▫i▫ā.
He alone is peaceful, whose doubts are dispelled.

ਸੋ ਇਕਾਂਤੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਰਿਦਾ ਥਾਇ
सो इकांती जिसु रिदा थाइ ॥
So ikāʼnṯī jis riḏā thā▫e.
He alone is a hermit, who heart is steady and stable.

ਸੋਈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਚ ਠਾਇ ॥੩॥
सोई निहचलु साच ठाइ ॥३॥
So▫ī nihcẖal sācẖ ṯẖā▫e. ||3||
He alone is steady and unmoving, who has found the true place. ||3||

ਏਕਾ ਖੋਜੈ ਏਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ
एका खोजै एक प्रीति ॥
Ėkā kẖojai ek parīṯ.
He seeks the One Lord, and loves the One Lord.

ਦਰਸਨ ਪਰਸਨ ਹੀਤ ਚੀਤਿ
दरसन परसन हीत चीति ॥
Ḏarsan parsan hīṯ cẖīṯ.
He loves to gaze upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.

ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਾਣੁ
हरि रंग रंगा सहजि माणु ॥
Har rang rangā sahj māṇ.
He intuitively enjoys the Love of the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੩॥
नानक दास तिसु जन कुरबाणु ॥४॥३॥
Nānak ḏās ṯis jan kurbāṇ. ||4||3||
Slave Nanak is a sacrifice to that humble being. ||4||3||
