ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
दरि साचै सचु सोभा होइ ॥
Ḏar sācẖai sacẖ sobẖā ho▫e.
In the Court of the True Lord, he obtains true glory.
|
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
निज घरि वासा पावै सोइ ॥३॥
Nij gẖar vāsā pāvai so▫e. ||3||
He comes to dwell in the home of his own inner being. ||3||
|
ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
आपि अभुलु सचा सचु सोइ ॥
Āp abẖul sacẖā sacẖ so▫e.
He cannot be fooled; He is the Truest of the True.
|
ਹੋਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਭੂਲਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
होरि सभि भूलहि दूजै पति खोइ ॥
Hor sabẖ bẖūlėh ḏūjai paṯ kẖo▫e.
All others are deluded; in duality, they lose their honor.
|
ਸਾਚਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
साचा सेवहु साची बाणी ॥
Sācẖā sevhu sācẖī baṇī.
So, serve the True Lord, through the True Bani of His Word.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੯॥
नानक नामे साचि समाणी ॥४॥९॥
Nānak nāme sācẖ samāṇī. ||4||9||
O Nanak! Through the Naam, merge in the True Lord. ||4||9||

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
बसंतु महला ३ ॥
Basanṯ mėhlā 3.
Basant, Third Mehl:

ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥
बिनु करमा सभ भरमि भुलाई ॥
Bin karmā sabẖ bẖaram bẖulā▫ī.
Without the grace of good karma, all are deluded by doubt.
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
माइआ मोहि बहुतु दुखु पाई ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mohi bahuṯ ḏukẖ pā▫ī.
In attachment to Maya, they suffer in terrible pain.
|
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
मनमुख अंधे ठउर न पाई ॥
Manmukẖ anḏẖe ṯẖa▫ur na pā▫ī.
The blind, self-willed Manmukhs find no place of rest.
|
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
बिसटा का कीड़ा बिसटा माहि समाई ॥१॥
Bistā kā kīṛā bistā māhi samā▫ī. ||1||
They are like maggots in manure, rotting away in manure. ||1||
|
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
हुकमु मंने सो जनु परवाणु ॥
Hukam manne so jan parvāṇ.
That humble being who obeys the Hukam of the Lord’s Command is accepted.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर कै सबदि नामि नीसाणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ nām nīsāṇ. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, he is blessed with the insignia and the banner of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
साचि रते जिन्हा धुरि लिखि पाइआ ॥
Sācẖ raṯe jinĥā ḏẖur likẖ pā▫i▫ā.
Those who have such preordained destiny are imbued with the Naam.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
हरि का नामु सदा मनि भाइआ ॥
Har kā nām saḏā man bẖā▫i▫ā.
The Name of the Lord is forever pleasing to their minds.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
सतिगुर की बाणी सदा सुखु होइ ॥
Saṯgur kī baṇī saḏā sukẖ ho▫e.
Through the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, eternal peace is found.
|
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
जोती जोति मिलाए सोइ ॥२॥
Joṯī joṯ milā▫e so▫e. ||2||
Through it, one’s light merges into the Light. ||2||
|
ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
एकु नामु तारे संसारु ॥
Ėk nām ṯāre sansār.
Only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save the world.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
गुर परसादी नाम पिआरु ॥
Gur parsādī nām pi▫ār.
By Guru’s Grace, one comes to love the Naam.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
बिनु नामै मुकति किनै न पाई ॥
Bin nāmai mukaṯ kinai na pā▫ī.
Without the Naam, no one obtains liberation.
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
पूरे गुर ते नामु पलै पाई ॥३॥
Pūre gur ṯe nām palai pā▫ī. ||3||
Through the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained. ||3||
|
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
सो बूझै जिसु आपि बुझाए ॥
So, būjẖai jis āp bujẖā▫e.
He alone understands whom the Lord Himself causes to understand.
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੑਾਏ ॥
सतिगुर सेवा नामु द्रिड़्हाए ॥
Saṯgur sevā nām ḏariṛ▫ā▫e.
Serving the True Guru, the Naam is implanted within.
|
ਜਿਨ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
जिन इकु जाता से जन परवाणु ॥
Jin ik jāṯā se jan parvāṇ.
Those humble beings who know the One Lord are approved and accepted.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
नानक नामि रते दरि नीसाणु ॥४॥१०॥
Nānak nām raṯe ḏar nīsāṇ. ||4||10||
O Nanak! Imbued with the Naam, they go to the Lord’s Court with His banner and insignia. ||4||10||

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
बसंतु महला ३ ॥
Basanṯ mėhlā 3.
Basant, Third Mehl:

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
क्रिपा करे सतिगुरू मिलाए ॥
Kirpā kare saṯgurū milā▫e.
Granting His Grace, the Lord leads the mortal to meet the True Guru.
|
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
आपे आपि वसै मनि आए ॥
Āpe āp vasai man ā▫e.
The Lord Himself comes to abide in his mind.
|
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ ਧੀਰ ॥
निहचल मति सदा मन धीर ॥
Nihcẖal maṯ saḏā man ḏẖīr.
His intellect becomes steady and stable, and his mind is strengthened forever.
|
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰ ॥੧॥
हरि गुण गावै गुणी गहीर ॥१॥
Har guṇ gāvai guṇī gahīr. ||1||
He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Ocean of Virtue. ||1||
|
ਨਾਮਹੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
नामहु भूले मरहि बिखु खाइ ॥
Nāmhu bẖūle marėh bikẖ kẖā▫e.
Those who forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord - those mortals die eating poison.
|
ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ब्रिथा जनमु फिरि आवहि जाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Baritha janam fir āvahi jā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Their lives are wasted uselessly, and they continue coming and going in reincarnation. ||1||Pause||
|
ਬਹੁ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
बहु भेख करहि मनि सांति न होइ ॥
Baho bẖekẖ karahi man sāʼnṯ na ho▫e.
They wear all sorts of religious robes, but their minds are not at peace.
|
ਬਹੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
बहु अभिमानि अपणी पति खोइ ॥
Baho abẖimān apṇī paṯ kẖo▫e.
In great egotism, they lose their honor.
|
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥
से वडभागी जिन सबदु पछाणिआ ॥
Se vadbẖāgī jin sabaḏ pacẖẖāṇi▫ā.
But those who realize the Word of the Shabad, are blessed by great good fortune.
|
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਦਾ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
बाहरि जादा घर महि आणिआ ॥२॥
Bāhar jāḏā gẖar mėh āṇi▫ā. ||2||
They bring their distractible minds back home. ||2||
|
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
घर महि वसतु अगम अपारा ॥
Gẖar mėh vasaṯ agam apārā.
Within the home of the inner self is the inaccessible and infinite substance.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
गुरमति खोजहि सबदि बीचारा ॥
Gurmaṯ kẖojėh sabaḏ bīcẖārā.
Those who find it, by following the Guru’s Teachings, contemplate the Shabad.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
नामु नव निधि पाई घर ही माहि ॥
Nām nav niḏẖ pā▫ī gẖar hī māhi.
Those who obtain the nine treasures of the Naam within the home of their own inner being,
|
ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
सदा रंगि राते सचि समाहि ॥३॥
Saḏā rang rāṯe sacẖ samāhi. ||3||
are forever dyed in the color of the Lord’s Love; they are absorbed in the Truth. ||3||
|
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
आपि करे किछु करणु न जाइ ॥
Āp kare kicẖẖ karaṇ na jā▫e.
God Himself does everything; no one can do anything at all by himself.
|
ਆਪੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
आपे भावै लए मिलाइ ॥
Āpe bẖāvai la▫e milā▫e.
When God so desires, He merges the mortal into Himself.
|
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਨੇੜੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
तिस ते नेड़ै नाही को दूरि ॥
Ŧis ṯe neṛai nāhī ko ḏūr.
All are near Him; no one is far away from Him.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
नानक नामि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥४॥११॥
Nānak nām rahi▫ā bẖarpūr. ||4||11||
O Nanak! The Naam is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||4||11||

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥
गुर सबदी हरि चेति सुभाइ ॥
Gur sabḏī har cẖeṯ subẖā▫e.
Through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad, remember the Lord with love,
|
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਘਾਇ ॥
राम नाम रसि रहै अघाइ ॥
Rām nām ras rahai agẖā▫e.
and you shall remain satisfied by the sublime essence of the Lord’s Name.
|
ਕੋਟ ਕੋਟੰਤਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
कोट कोटंतर के पाप जलि जाहि ॥
Kot kotanṯar ke pāp jal jāhi.
The sins of millions upon millions of lifetimes shall be burnt away.
|
ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
जीवत मरहि हरि नामि समाहि ॥१॥
Jīvaṯ marėh har nām samāhi. ||1||
Remaining dead while still alive, you shall be absorbed in the Lord’s Name. ||1||
|
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
हरि की दाति हरि जीउ जाणै ॥
Har kī ḏāṯ har jī▫o jāṇai.
The Dear Lord Himself knows His own bountiful blessings.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुर कै सबदि इहु मनु मउलिआ हरि गुणदाता नामु वखाणै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gur kai sabaḏ ih man ma▫oli▫ā har guṇḏāṯā nām vakẖāṇai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
This mind blossoms forth in the Guru’s Shabad, chanting the Name of the Lord, the Giver of virtue. ||1||Pause||
|
ਭਗਵੈ ਵੇਸਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
भगवै वेसि भ्रमि मुकति न होइ ॥
Bẖagvai ves bẖaram mukaṯ na ho▫e.
No one is liberated by wandering around in saffron-colored robes.
|
ਬਹੁ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
बहु संजमि सांति न पावै कोइ ॥
Baho sanjam sāʼnṯ na pāvai ko▫e.
Tranquility is not found by strict self-discipline.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
गुरमति नामु परापति होइ ॥
Gurmaṯ nām parāpaṯ ho▫e.
But by following the Guru’s Teachings, one is blessed to receive the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
वडभागी हरि पावै सोइ ॥२॥
vadbẖāgī har pāvai so▫e. ||2||
By great good fortune, one finds the Lord. ||2||
|
ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
कलि महि राम नामि वडिआई ॥
Kal mėh rām nām vadi▫ā▫ī.
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, glorious greatness comes through the Lord’s Name.
