ਹੈ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਕਤ ਦੂਰਿ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
Hai hajūr kaṯ ḏūr baṯāvhu.
God is present, right here at hand; why do you say that He is far away?

ਦੁੰਦਰ ਬਾਧਹੁ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ḏunḏar bāḏẖhu sunḏar pāvhu. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Tie up your disturbing passions, and find the Beauteous Lord. ||1||Pause||
|
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
Kājī so jo kā▫i▫ā bīcẖārai.
He alone is a Qazi, who contemplates the human body,
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਜਾਰੈ ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kī agan barahm parjārai.
and through the fire of the body, is illumined by God.
|
ਸੁਪਨੈ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਝਰਨਾ ॥
Supnai binḏ na ḏe▫ī jẖarnā.
He does not lose his semen, even in his dreams;
|
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਜੀ ਕਉ ਜਰਾ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
Ŧis kājī ka▫o jarā na marnā. ||2||
for such a Qazi, there is no old age or death. ||2||
|
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਰ ਤਾਨੈ ॥
So surṯān jo ḏu▫e sar ṯānai.
He alone is a sultan and a king, who shoots the two arrows,
|
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਨੈ ॥
Bāhar jāṯā bẖīṯar ānai.
gathers in his outgoing mind,
|
ਗਗਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
Gagan mandal mėh laskar karai.
and assembles his army in the realm of the mind's sky, the Tenth Gate.
|
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥
So surṯān cẖẖaṯar sir ḏẖarai. ||3||
The canopy of royalty waves over such a sultan. ||3||
|
ਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
Jogī gorakẖ gorakẖ karai.
The Yogi cries out, "Gorakh, Gorakh".
|
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
Hinḏū rām nām ucẖrai.
The Hindu utters the Name of Raam.
|
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕਾ ਏਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
Musalmān kā ek kẖuḏā▫e.
The Muslim has only One God.
|
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥
Kabīr kā su▫āmī rahi▫ā samā▫e. ||4||3||11||
The Lord and Master of Kabeer is all-pervading. ||4||3||11||

Fifth Mehl:
|
ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਕਹਤੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
Jo pāthar ka▫o kahṯe ḏev.
Those who call a stone their god-
|
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ॥
Ŧā kī birthā hovai sev.
their service is useless.
|
ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਂਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Jo pāthar kī pāʼn▫ī pā▫e.
Those who fall at the feet of a stone god-
|
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਅਜਾਂਈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
Ŧis kī gẖāl ajāʼn▫ī jā▫e. ||1||
their work is wasted in vain. ||1||
|
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਸਦ ਬੋਲੰਤਾ ॥
Ŧẖākur hamrā saḏ bolanṯā.
My Lord and Master speaks forever.
|
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sarab jī▫ā ka▫o parabẖ ḏān ḏeṯā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
God gives His gifts to all living beings. ||1||Pause||
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਧੁ ॥
Anṯar ḏe▫o na jānai anḏẖ.
The Divine Lord is within the self, but the spiritually blind one does not know this.
|
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਪਾਵੈ ਫੰਧੁ ॥
Bẖaram kā mohi▫ā pāvai fanḏẖ.
Deluded by doubt, he is caught in the noose.
|
ਨ ਪਾਥਰੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
Na pāthar bolai nā kicẖẖ ḏe▫e.
The stone does not speak; it does not give anything to anyone.
|
ਫੋਕਟ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਹੈ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥
Fokat karam nihfal hai sev. ||2||
Such religious rituals are useless; such service is fruitless. ||2||
|
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੜਾਵੈ ॥
Je mirṯak ka▫o cẖanḏan cẖaṛāvai.
If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil,
|
ਉਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Us ṯe kahhu kavan fal pāvai.
what good does it do?
|
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਰੁਲਾਈ ॥
Je mirṯak ka▫o bistā māhi rulā▫ī.
If a corpse is rolled in manure,
|
ਤਾਂ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
Ŧāʼn mirṯak kā ki▫ā gẖat jā▫ī. ||3||
what does it lose from this? ||3||
|
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਕਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥
Kahaṯ Kabīr ha▫o kaha▫o pukār.
Says Kabeer, I proclaim this out loud -
|
ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
Samajẖ ḏekẖ sākaṯ gāvār.
behold, and understand, you ignorant, faithless cynic.
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
Ḏūjai bẖā▫e bahuṯ gẖar gāle.
The love of duality has ruined countless homes.
|
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥
Rām bẖagaṯ hai saḏā sukẖāle. ||4||4||12||
The Lord's devotees are forever in bliss. ||4||4||12||
|
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਮੀਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੇਧੇ ॥
Jal mėh mīn mā▫i▫ā ke beḏẖe.
The fish in the water is attached to Maya.
|
ਦੀਪਕ ਪਤੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਛੇਦੇ ॥
Ḏīpak paṯang mā▫i▫ā ke cẖẖeḏe.
The moth fluttering around the lamp is pierced through by Maya.
|
ਕਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
Kām mā▫i▫ā kuncẖar ka▫o bi▫āpai.
The sexual desire of Maya afflicts the elephant.
|
ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖਾਪੇ ॥੧॥
Bẖu▫i▫angam bẖaring mā▫i▫ā mėh kẖāpe. ||1||
The snakes and bumble bees are destroyed through Maya. ||1||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਐਸੀ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਭਾਈ ॥
Mā▫i▫ā aisī mohnī bẖā▫ī.
Such are the enticements of Maya, O Siblings of Destiny.
|
ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਡਹਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jeṯe jī▫a ṯeṯe dėhkā▫ī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
As many living beings are there are, have been deceived. ||1||Pause||
|
ਪੰਖੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
Pankẖī marig mā▫i▫ā mėh rāṯe.
The birds and the deer are imbued with Maya.
|
ਸਾਕਰ ਮਾਖੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥
Sākar mākẖī aḏẖik sanṯāpe.
Sugar is a deadly trap for the flies.
|
ਤੁਰੇ ਉਸਟ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਭੇਲਾ ॥
Ŧure usat mā▫i▫ā mėh bẖelā.
Horses and camels are absorbed in Maya.
|
ਸਿਧ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲਾ ॥੨॥
Siḏẖ cẖa▫orāsīh mā▫i▫ā mėh kẖelā. ||2||
The eighty-four Siddhas, the beings of miraculous spiritual powers, play in Maya. ||2||
|
ਛਿਅ ਜਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ॥
Cẖẖi▫a jaṯī mā▫i▫ā ke banḏā.
The six celibates are slaves of Maya.
|
ਨਵੈ ਨਾਥ ਸੂਰਜ ਅਰੁ ਚੰਦਾ ॥
Navai nāth sūraj ar cẖanḏā.
So are the nine masters of Yoga, and the sun and the moon.
|
ਤਪੇ ਰਖੀਸਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਤਾ ॥
Ŧape rakẖīsar mā▫i▫ā mėh sūṯā.
The austere disciplinarians and the Rishis are asleep in Maya.
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਅਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤਾ ॥੩॥
Mā▫i▫ā mėh kāl ar pancẖ ḏūṯā. ||3||
Death and the five demons are in Maya. ||3||
|
ਸੁਆਨ ਸਿਆਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Su▫ān si▫āl mā▫i▫ā mėh rāṯā.
Dogs and jackals are imbued with Maya.
|
ਬੰਤਰ ਚੀਤੇ ਅਰੁ ਸਿੰਘਾਤਾ ॥
Banṯar cẖīṯe ar singẖāṯā.
Monkeys, leopards and lions,
|
ਮਾਂਜਾਰ ਗਾਡਰ ਅਰੁ ਲੂਬਰਾ ॥
Māʼnjār gādar ar lūbrā.
cats, sheep, foxes,
|
ਬਿਰਖ ਮੂਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥
Birakẖ mūl mā▫i▫ā mėh parā. ||4||
trees and roots are planted in Maya. ||4||
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
Mā▫i▫ā anṯar bẖīne ḏev.
Even the gods are drenched with Maya,
|
ਸਾਗਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਅਰੁ ਧਰਤੇਵ ॥
Sāgar inḏrā ar ḏẖarṯev.
as are the oceans, the sky and the earth.
|
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਦਰੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Kahi Kabīr jis uḏar ṯis mā▫i▫ā.
Says Kabeer, whoever has a belly to fill, is under the spell of Maya.

ਤਬ ਛੂਟੇ ਜਬ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੫॥੧੩॥
Ŧab cẖẖūte jab sāḏẖū pā▫i▫ā. ||5||5||13||
The mortal is emancipated only when he meets the Holy Saint. ||5||5||13||
|
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
Jab lag merī merī karai.
As long as he cries out, "Mine! Mine!",
|
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਰੈ ॥
Ŧab lag kāj ek nahī sarai.
none of his tasks is accomplished.

ਜਬ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
Jab merī merī mit jā▫e.
When such possessiveness is erased and removed,
