ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
लख चउरासीह जीअ उपाए ॥
Lakẖ cẖa▫orāsīh jī▫a upā▫e.
The Lord has created eighty four lakhs of species of living beings.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
जिस नो नदरि करे तिसु गुरू मिलाए ॥
Jis no naḏar kare ṯis gurū milā▫e.
On whom He casts His merciful glance, him He causes to meet the Guru.

ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਦਾ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
किलबिख काटि सदा जन निरमल दरि सचै नामि सुहावणिआ ॥६॥
Kilbikẖ kāt saḏā jan nirmal ḏar sacẖai nām suhāvaṇi▫ā. ||6||
Washing off his sins, His slave is ever pure, and at the True Court looks illustrious with the Name.

ਲੇਖਾ ਮਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਨਿ ਦੀਐ ॥
लेखा मागै ता किनि दीऐ ॥
Lekẖā māgai ṯā kin ḏī▫ai.
When account is called, O who would then answer?
|
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਫੁਨਿ ਦੂਐ ਤੀਐ ॥
सुखु नाही फुनि दूऐ तीऐ ॥
Sukẖ nāhī fun ḏū▫ai ṯī▫ai.
No solace shall then accrue counting two and three (by rendering the account).

ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
आपे बखसि लए प्रभु साचा आपे बखसि मिलावणिआ ॥७॥
Āpe bakẖas la▫e parabẖ sācẖā āpe bakẖas milāvaṇi▫ā. ||7||
The True Lord Himself grants pardon, and having forgiven blends with his ownself.

ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
आपि करे तै आपि कराए ॥
Āp kare ṯai āp karā▫e.
He Himself does and Himself causes to be done.
|
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
पूरे गुर कै सबदि मिलाए ॥
Pūre gur kai sabaḏ milā▫e.
Through the perfect Guru's instruction, He is met.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੨॥੩॥
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई आपे मेलि मिलावणिआ ॥८॥२॥३॥
Nānak nām milai vadi▫ā▫ī āpe mel milāvaṇi▫ā. ||8||2||3||
Nanak through the Name greatness is obtained. The Lord Himself unites in His union.

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
माझ महला ३ ॥
Mājẖ mėhlā 3.
Majh, Third Guru.
|
ਇਕੋ ਆਪਿ ਫਿਰੈ ਪਰਛੰਨਾ ॥
इको आपि फिरै परछंना ॥
Iko āp firai parcẖẖannā.
By Himself, the unique Lord is moving about undiscernibly.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭਿੰਨਾ ॥
गुरमुखि वेखा ता इहु मनु भिंना ॥
Gurmukẖ vekẖā ṯā ih man bẖinnā.
If I see Him, through the Guru, then is his soul of mine refreshed.
|
ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਜਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਏਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
त्रिसना तजि सहज सुखु पाइआ एको मंनि वसावणिआ ॥१॥
Ŧarisnā ṯaj sahj sukẖ pā▫i▫ā eko man vasāvaṇi▫ā. ||1||
Shedding desire and placing the One Lord in the mind, I have obtained the celestial bliss.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਇਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
हउ वारी जीउ वारी इकसु सिउ चितु लावणिआ ॥
Ha▫o vārī jī▫o vārī ikas si▫o cẖiṯ lāvaṇi▫ā.
I am a sacrifice, my soul is sacrifice unto those who fix their attention on one God.
|
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਸਚੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰੰਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
गुरमती मनु इकतु घरि आइआ सचै रंगि रंगावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Gurmaṯī man ikaṯ gẖar ā▫i▫ā sacẖai rang rangāviṇ▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By Guru's instruction, my mind has come to into its only home, and his dyed in the true dye. Pause.
|
ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਤੈਂ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
इहु जगु भूला तैं आपि भुलाइआ ॥
Ih jag bẖūlā ṯaiʼn āp bẖulā▫i▫ā.
This world has gone astray. Thou Thyself hast put it on wrong track.
|
ਇਕੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਇਆ ॥
इकु विसारि दूजै लोभाइआ ॥
Ik visār ḏūjai lobẖā▫i▫ā.
Forgetting the One Lord it is engrossed in duality.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
अनदिनु सदा फिरै भ्रमि भूला बिनु नावै दुखु पावणिआ ॥२॥
An▫ḏin saḏā firai bẖaram bẖūlā bin nāvai ḏukẖ pāvṇi▫ā. ||2||
Night and day, it ever wanders beguiled by doubt, and without the Name suffers agony.
|
ਜੋ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥
जो रंगि राते करम बिधाते ॥
Jo rang rāṯe karam biḏẖāṯe.
They, who are imbued with the love of Destiny Scriber,
|
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਤੇ ॥
गुर सेवा ते जुग चारे जाते ॥
Gur sevā ṯe jug cẖāre jāṯe.
through the service of the Guru, are known through the four ages.
|
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥
जिस नो आपि देइ वडिआई हरि कै नामि समावणिआ ॥३॥
Jis no āp ḏe▫e vadi▫ā▫ī har kai nām samāvaṇi▫ā. ||3||
He who the Lord Himself grants greatness is merged in God's Name.
|
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
माइआ मोहि हरि चेतै नाही ॥
Mā▫i▫ā mohi har cẖeṯai nāhī.
Being in Love with wealth one thing not of God.
|
ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਬਧਾ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਹੀ ॥
जमपुरि बधा दुख सहाही ॥
Jampur baḏẖā ḏukẖ sahāhī.
Bound down in the city of death's myrmidon, he endures hardships.
|
ਅੰਨਾ ਬੋਲਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਾਪਿ ਪਚਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥
अंना बोला किछु नदरि न आवै मनमुख पापि पचावणिआ ॥४॥
Annā bolā kicẖẖ naḏar na āvai manmukẖ pāp pacẖāvaṇi▫ā. ||4||
Blind and deaf, as the perverse person is He sees nothing and is putrefied in sin.
|
ਇਕਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
इकि रंगि राते जो तुधु आपि लिव लाए ॥
Ik rang rāṯe jo ṯuḏẖ āp liv lā▫e.
Some whom, Thou attachest with Thy love, are imbued in Thine affection.
|
ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
भाइ भगति तेरै मनि भाए ॥
Bẖā▫e bẖagaṯ ṯerai man bẖā▫e.
Through affectionate devotion, they become pleasing to the thy mind, O Lord!
|
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਭ ਇਛਾ ਆਪਿ ਪੁਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥
सतिगुरु सेवनि सदा सुखदाता सभ इछा आपि पुजावणिआ ॥५॥
Saṯgur sevan saḏā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa sabẖ icẖẖā āp pujāvaṇi▫ā. ||5||
They serve the True Guru, the ever giver of peace and the Lord Himself fulfils all the their desires.
|
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
हरि जीउ तेरी सदा सरणाई ॥
Har jī▫o ṯerī saḏā sarṇā▫ī.
My venerable God! I ever see the asylum.
|
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿਹਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
आपे बखसिहि दे वडिआई ॥
Āpe bakẖsihi ḏe vadi▫ā▫ī.
Thyself Thou forgivest and grantest glory.
|
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥
जमकालु तिसु नेड़ि न आवै जो हरि हरि नामु धिआवणिआ ॥६॥
Jamkāl ṯis neṛ na āvai jo har har nām ḏẖi▫āvaṇi▫ā. ||6||
The courier of death draws not near him who reflects over the Name of the Lord God.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ॥
अनदिनु राते जो हरि भाए ॥
An▫ḏin rāṯe jo har bẖā▫e.
They who are pleasing to God, night and day remain tinged in his love.
|
ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
मेरै प्रभि मेले मेलि मिलाए ॥
Merai parabẖ mele mel milā▫e.
Causing to meet the society of the Saints my Master blends them with Himself.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਸਚੁ ਬੁਝਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥
सदा सदा सचे तेरी सरणाई तूं आपे सचु बुझावणिआ ॥७॥
Saḏā saḏā sacẖe ṯerī sarṇā▫ī ṯūʼn āpe sacẖ bujẖāvaṇi▫ā. ||7||
For ever and aye, O True Lord! I am under Thine protection. Thou Thyself makest me know the Truth.
|
ਜਿਨ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥
जिन सचु जाता से सचि समाणे ॥
Jin sacẖ jāṯā se sacẖ samāṇe.
They, who know the Truth, are absorbed in the True One.
|
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਵਖਾਣੇ ॥
हरि गुण गावहि सचु वखाणे ॥
Har guṇ gāvahi sacẖ vakẖāṇe.
God's praises they sing and tell the truth
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੩॥੪॥
नानक नामि रते बैरागी निज घरि ताड़ी लावणिआ ॥८॥३॥४॥
Nānak nām raṯe bairāgī nij gẖar ṯāṛī lāvaṇi▫ā. ||8||3||4||
Nanak, they who are tinged with the Name, remain aloof, and in their own home assume contemplative attitude.
|
ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
माझ महला ३ ॥
Mājẖ mėhlā 3.
Majh, Third Guru.
|
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਆ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
सबदि मरै सु मुआ जापै ॥
Sabaḏ marai so mu▫ā jāpai.
He, who dies by Guru's hymns, is deemed to be dead.
|
ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਚਾਪੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਸੰਤਾਪੈ ॥
कालु न चापै दुखु न संतापै ॥
Kāl na cẖāpai ḏukẖ na sanṯāpai.
Him, death crushes not, nor does agony annoy.
|
ਜੋਤੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥
जोती विचि मिलि जोति समाणी सुणि मन सचि समावणिआ ॥१॥
Joṯī vicẖ mil joṯ samāṇī suṇ man sacẖ samāvaṇi▫ā. ||1||
When man hears and merges in truthfulness his light meets and is absorbed in the Supreme Light.
|
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥
हउ वारी जीउ वारी हरि कै नाइ सोभा पावणिआ ॥
Ha▫o vārī jī▫o vārī har kai nā▫e sobẖā pāvṇi▫ā.
I am a sacrifice my life is a sacrifice unto those who drive glory from God's Name.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਚਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवि सचि चितु लाइआ गुरमती सहजि समावणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Saṯgur sev sacẖ cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā gurmaṯī sahj samāvaṇi▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
By the Guru instruction he, who serves the True Guru and fixes his attention on the True One blends with the Lord. Pause.
|
ਕਾਇਆ ਕਚੀ ਕਚਾ ਚੀਰੁ ਹੰਢਾਏ ॥
काइआ कची कचा चीरु हंढाए ॥
Kā▫i▫ā kacẖī kacẖā cẖīr handẖā▫e.
Human body is fragile and fragile is the garment which it wears.
|
ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
दूजै लागी महलु न पाए ॥
Ḏūjai lāgī mahal na pā▫e.
Attached to another's love, it obtained not the Lord mansion.
|
