Majh, Fifth Guru.

ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
कीनी दइआ गोपाल गुसाई ॥
Kīnī ḏa▫i▫ā gopāl gusā▫ī.
The world-nurser and the Lord of the universe has shown mercy,
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਵਸੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
गुर के चरण वसे मन माही ॥
Gur ke cẖaraṇ vase man māhī.
and the Guru's feet I have places within my mind.
|
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
अंगीकारु कीआ तिनि करतै दुख का डेरा ढाहिआ जीउ ॥१॥
Angīkār kī▫ā ṯin karṯai ḏukẖ kā derā dẖāhi▫ā jī▫o. ||1||
That Creator has taken my side and has demolished the abode of adversity.
|
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
मनि तनि वसिआ सचा सोई ॥
Man ṯan vasi▫ā sacẖā so▫ī.
Within my mind and body the True Lord abides,
|
ਬਿਖੜਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
बिखड़ा थानु न दिसै कोई ॥
Bikẖ▫ṛā thān na ḏisai ko▫ī.
and no place appears to be agonising for me.
|
ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਮਣ ਸਭਿ ਸਜਣ ਹੋਏ ਏਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
दूत दुसमण सभि सजण होए एको सुआमी आहिआ जीउ ॥२॥
Ḏūṯ ḏusmaṇ sabẖ sajaṇ ho▫e eko su▫āmī āhi▫ā jī▫o. ||2||
All the evil-doers and enemies have become friends as I long for but One Lord.
|
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥
जो किछु करे सु आपे आपै ॥
Jo kicẖẖ kare so āpe āpai.
Whatever He does, He does that all by Himself.
|
ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
बुधि सिआणप किछू न जापै ॥
Buḏẖ si▫āṇap kicẖẖū na jāpai.
By intellect and wisdom one cannot gauge His doings.

ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਲਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
आपणिआ संता नो आपि सहाई प्रभि भरम भुलावा लाहिआ जीउ ॥३॥
Āpṇi▫ā sanṯā no āp sahā▫ī parabẖ bẖaram bẖulāvā lāhi▫ā jī▫o. ||3||
Of His saints the Lord Himself is the succourer. He has cast away my doubt and misgiving.

ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
चरण कमल जन का आधारो ॥
Cẖaraṇ kamal jan kā āḏẖāro.
The Lord's lotus feet are the support of His serf.
|
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ॥
आठ पहर राम नामु वापारो ॥
Āṯẖ pahar rām nām vāpāro.
Day and night he deals in the Name of the pervading God.
|
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੩॥
सहज अनंद गावहि गुण गोविंद प्रभ नानक सरब समाहिआ जीउ ॥४॥३६॥४३॥
Sahj anand gāvahi guṇ govinḏ parabẖ Nānak sarab samāhi▫ā jī▫o. ||4||36||43||
In peace and pleasure he sings the praises of the World-Lord. Among all the Master is contained O Nanak.

Majh, Fifth Guru.
|
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
सो सचु मंदरु जितु सचु धिआईऐ ॥
So sacẖ manḏar jiṯ sacẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai.
True is the palace, where-in the True Lord is remembered.
|
ਸੋ ਰਿਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
सो रिदा सुहेला जितु हरि गुण गाईऐ ॥
So riḏā suhelā jiṯ har guṇ gā▫ī▫ai.
Illustrious is the soul which chants the God's glories.
|
ਸਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
सा धरति सुहावी जितु वसहि हरि जन सचे नाम विटहु कुरबाणो जीउ ॥१॥
Sā ḏẖaraṯ suhāvī jiṯ vasėh har jan sacẖe nām vitahu kurbāṇo jī▫o. ||1||
Beautiful is the land where God's slaves abide. I am a sacrifice unto the True Name.
|
ਸਚੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
सचु वडाई कीम न पाई ॥
Sacẖ vadā▫ī kīm na pā▫ī.
The worth of the greatness of the True Lord cannot be known,
|
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
कुदरति करमु न कहणा जाई ॥
Kuḏraṯ karam na kahṇā jā▫ī.
The Lord's power and bounty can not be described.
|
ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
धिआइ धिआइ जीवहि जन तेरे सचु सबदु मनि माणो जीउ ॥२॥
Ḏẖi▫ā▫e ḏẖi▫ā▫e jīvėh jan ṯere sacẖ sabaḏ man māṇo jī▫o. ||2||
Thine slaves, O Master! live by ever thinking of Thee. The True Gurbani their souls enjoy.

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
सचु सालाहणु वडभागी पाईऐ ॥
Sacẖ sālāhaṇ vadbẖāgī pā▫ī▫ai.
The praising of the True One is obtained by the greatest good fortune.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
गुर परसादी हरि गुण गाईऐ ॥
Gur parsādī har guṇ gā▫ī▫ai.
Through the Guru's grace God's eulogies are sung.
|
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
रंगि रते तेरै तुधु भावहि सचु नामु नीसाणो जीउ ॥३॥
Rang raṯe ṯerai ṯuḏẖ bẖāvėh sacẖ nām nīsāṇo jī▫o. ||3||
They who are imbued with Thy love are pleasing to Thee O Lord! The True Name is their distinguishing mark.
|
ਸਚੇ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
सचे अंतु न जाणै कोई ॥
Sacẖe anṯ na jāṇai ko▫ī.
No one knows the limits of the True Lord.
|
ਥਾਨਿ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
थानि थनंतरि सचा सोई ॥
Thān thananṯar sacẖā so▫ī.
In all the places and interspaces that True One is contained.
|
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੪॥
नानक सचु धिआईऐ सद ही अंतरजामी जाणो जीउ ॥४॥३७॥४४॥
Nānak sacẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫ī▫ai saḏ hī anṯarjāmī jāṇo jī▫o. ||4||37||44||
Nanak ever reflect on the True Being who is the searcher of hearts and the knower of everything.

ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
रैणि सुहावड़ी दिनसु सुहेला ॥
Raiṇ suhāvaṛī ḏinas suhelā.
Beautiful is the night and illustrious the day,
|
ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
जपि अम्रित नामु संतसंगि मेला ॥
Jap amriṯ nām saṯsang melā.
when man repeats the Nectarean Name and associates with the saints' congregation.
|
ਘੜੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਲ ਵੰਞਹਿ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਿਥਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
घड़ी मूरत सिमरत पल वंञहि जीवणु सफलु तिथाई जीउ ॥१॥
Gẖaṛī mūraṯ simraṯ pal vañahi jīvaṇ safal ṯithā▫ī jī▫o. ||1||
Fruitful is the mortal's life there where a moment a trice and an instant of his passes in the Lord's meditation.
|
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੋਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
सिमरत नामु दोख सभि लाथे ॥
Simraṯ nām ḏokẖ sabẖ lāthe.
By remembering the Name all the sins are effaces,
|
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
अंतरि बाहरि हरि प्रभु साथे ॥
Anṯar bāhar har parabẖ sāthe.
and within and without the Lord God keeps man's company.
|
ਭੈ ਭਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
भै भउ भरमु खोइआ गुरि पूरै देखा सभनी जाई जीउ ॥२॥
Bẖai bẖa▫o bẖaram kẖo▫i▫ā gur pūrai ḏekẖā sabẖnī jā▫ī jī▫o. ||2||
Fear, dread and doubt the Perfect Guru has dispelled from within me and I now see God in all the places.
|
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਡ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
प्रभु समरथु वड ऊच अपारा ॥
Parabẖ samrath vad ūcẖ apārā.
The Lord is omnipotent, great lofty and infinite.
|
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
नउ निधि नामु भरे भंडारा ॥
Na▫o niḏẖ nām bẖare bẖandārā.
The nine treasures and stores of His Name are brimful.
|
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
आदि अंति मधि प्रभु सोई दूजा लवै न लाई जीउ ॥३॥
Āḏ anṯ maḏẖ parabẖ so▫ī ḏūjā lavai na lā▫ī jī▫o. ||3||
In the Beginning in the end and in the middle is that Lord. Another I draw not near me.
|
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
करि किरपा मेरे दीन दइआला ॥
Kar kirpā mere ḏīn ḏa▫i▫ālā.
Take pity on me, O Beneficent to the poor!
|
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥
जाचिकु जाचै साध रवाला ॥
Jācẖik jācẖai sāḏẖ ravālā.
The beggar asks for the dust of the feet of the saints.
|
ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੫॥
देहि दानु नानकु जनु मागै सदा सदा हरि धिआई जीउ ॥४॥३८॥४५॥
Ḏėh ḏān Nānak jan māgai saḏā saḏā har ḏẖi▫ā▫ī jī▫o. ||4||38||45||
Serf Nanak, prays Thee, O Lord! for the grant of this gift, for ever and aye he may continue meditating on Thee.

|
ਐਥੈ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਆਗੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
ऐथै तूंहै आगै आपे ॥
Aithai ṯūʼnhai āgai āpe.
Here Thou art and here-after Thou Thyself shalt be.
|
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਥਾਪੇ ॥
जीअ जंत्र सभि तेरे थापे ॥
Jī▫a janṯar sabẖ ṯere thāpe.
All the human beings and other creatures are established by Thee.
|
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਤੇ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
तुधु बिनु अवरु न कोई करते मै धर ओट तुमारी जीउ ॥१॥
Ŧuḏẖ bin avar na ko▫ī karṯe mai ḏẖar ot ṯumārī jī▫o. ||1||
Without Thee there is no other, O Creator! Thou art my support and protection.
|
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
रसना जपि जपि जीवै सुआमी ॥
Rasnā jap jap jīvai su▫āmī.
The tongue is alive by ever uttering the Lord's Name.
|
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
पारब्रहम प्रभ अंतरजामी ॥
Pārbarahm parabẖ anṯarjāmī.
The Supreme Lord Master is the searcher of hearts.

ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
जिनि सेविआ तिन ही सुखु पाइआ सो जनमु न जूऐ हारी जीउ ॥२॥
Jin sevi▫ā ṯin hī sukẖ pā▫i▫ā so janam na jū▫ai hārī jī▫o. ||2||
He, who serves the Lord, obtains peace. He loses not his human life in the game of chance.

ਨਾਮੁ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
नामु अवखधु जिनि जन तेरै पाइआ ॥
Nām avkẖaḏẖ jin jan ṯerai pā▫i▫ā.
Thine worshipper, who obtains the panacea of Thy Name,
