ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
पूरै सतिगुरि सोझी पाई ॥
Pūrai saṯgur sojẖī pā▫ī.
The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding.
|
ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
एको नामु मंनि वसाई ॥
Ėko nām man vasā▫ī.
I have enshrined the Naam, the One Name, within my mind.
|
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀ ਤੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
नामु जपी तै नामु धिआई महलु पाइ गुण गाहा हे ॥११॥
Nām japī ṯai nām ḏẖi▫ā▫ī mahal pā▫e guṇ gāhā he. ||11||
I chant the Naam, and meditate on the Naam. Singing His Glorious Praises, I enter the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||11||
|
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
सेवक सेवहि मंनि हुकमु अपारा ॥
Sevak sevėh man hukam apārā.
The servant serves, and obeys the Command of the Infinite Lord.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
मनमुख हुकमु न जाणहि सारा ॥
Manmukẖ hukam na jāṇėh sārā.
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the value of the Lord's Command.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੰਨੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
हुकमे मंने हुकमे वडिआई हुकमे वेपरवाहा हे ॥१२॥
Hukme manne hukme vadi▫ā▫ī hukme veparvāhā he. ||12||
By the Hukam of the Lord's Command, one is exalted; by His Hukam, one is glorified; by His Hukam, one becomes carefree. ||12||
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
गुर परसादी हुकमु पछाणै ॥
Gur parsādī hukam pacẖẖāṇai.
By Guru's Grace, one recognizes the Lord's Hukam.

ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ॥
धावतु राखै इकतु घरि आणै ॥
Ḏẖāvaṯ rākẖai ikaṯ gẖar āṇai.
The wandering mind is restrained, and brought back to the home of the One Lord.
|
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
नामे राता सदा बैरागी नामु रतनु मनि ताहा हे ॥१३॥
Nāme rāṯā saḏā bairāgī nām raṯan man ṯāhā he. ||13||
Imbued with the Naam, one remains forever detached; the jewel of the Naam rests within the mind. ||13||
|
ਸਭ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
सभ जग महि वरतै एको सोई ॥
Sabẖ jag mėh varṯai eko so▫ī.
The One Lord is pervasive throughout all the world.
|
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਈ ॥
गुर परसादी परगटु होई ॥
Gur parsādī pargat ho▫ī.
By Guru's Grace, He is revealed.
|
ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
सबदु सलाहहि से जन निरमल निज घरि वासा ताहा हे ॥१४॥
Sabaḏ salāhėh se jan nirmal nij gẖar vāsā ṯāhā he. ||14||
Those humble beings who praise the Shabad are immaculate; they dwell within the home of their own inner self. ||14||
|
ਸਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥
सदा भगत तेरी सरणाई ॥
Saḏā bẖagaṯ ṯerī sarṇā▫ī.
The devotees abide forever in Your Sanctuary, Lord.
|
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
अगम अगोचर कीमति नही पाई ॥
Agam agocẖar kīmaṯ nahī pā▫ī.
You are inaccessible and unfathomable; Your value cannot be estimated.
|
ਜਿਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਤੂ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
जिउ तुधु भावहि तिउ तू राखहि गुरमुखि नामु धिआहा हे ॥१५॥
Ji▫o ṯuḏẖ bẖāvėh ṯi▫o ṯū rākẖahi gurmukẖ nām ḏẖi▫āhā he. ||15||
As it pleases Your Will, You keep us; the Gurmukh meditates on the Naam. ||15||
|
ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ॥
सदा सदा तेरे गुण गावा ॥
Saḏā saḏā ṯere guṇ gāvā.
Forever and ever, I sing Your Glorious Praises.
|
ਸਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਾ ॥
सचे साहिब तेरै मनि भावा ॥
Sacẖe sāhib ṯerai man bẖāvā.
O my True Lord and Master, may I become pleasing to Your Mind.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥੧੦॥
नानकु साचु कहै बेनंती सचु देवहु सचि समाहा हे ॥१६॥१॥१०॥
Nānak sācẖ kahai benanṯī sacẖ ḏevhu sacẖ samāhā he. ||16||1||10||
Nanak offers this true prayer: O Lord, please bless me with Truth, that I may merge in the Truth. ||16||1||10||

Maaroo, Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਨਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
सतिगुरु सेवनि से वडभागी ॥
Saṯgur sevan se vadbẖāgī.
Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate.
|
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
अनदिनु साचि नामि लिव लागी ॥
An▫ḏin sācẖ nām liv lāgī.
Night and day, they remain lovingly attuned to the True Name.
|
ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਰਵਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
सदा सुखदाता रविआ घट अंतरि सबदि सचै ओमाहा हे ॥१॥
Saḏā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa ravi▫ā gẖat anṯar sabaḏ sacẖai omāhā he. ||1||
The Lord, the Giver of peace, abides forever deep within their hearts; they delight in the True Word of the Shabad. ||1||
|
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
नदरि करे ता गुरू मिलाए ॥
Naḏar kare ṯā gurū milā▫e.
When the Lord grants His Grace, one meets with the Guru.
|
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
हरि का नामु मंनि वसाए ॥
Har kā nām man vasā▫e.
The Name of the Lord is enshrined within the mind.
|
ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੇ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
हरि मनि वसिआ सदा सुखदाता सबदे मनि ओमाहा हे ॥२॥
Har man vasi▫ā saḏā sukẖ▫ḏāṯa sabḏe man omāhā he. ||2||
The Lord, the Giver of peace, abides forever within the mind; the mind is delighted with the Word of the Shabad. ||2||
|
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
क्रिपा करे ता मेलि मिलाए ॥
Kirpā kare ṯā mel milā▫e.
When the Lord bestows His Mercy, He unites in His Union.
|
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਮਤਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਏ ॥
हउमै ममता सबदि जलाए ॥
Ha▫umai mamṯā sabaḏ jalā▫e.
Egotism and attachment are burned away by the Shabad.
|
ਸਦਾ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਕਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
सदा मुकतु रहै इक रंगी नाही किसै नालि काहा हे ॥३॥
Saḏā mukaṯ rahai ik rangī nāhī kisai nāl kāhā he. ||3||
In the Love of the One Lord, one remains liberated forever; he is not in conflict with anyone. ||3||
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे घोर अंधारा ॥
Bin saṯgur seve gẖor anḏẖārā.
Without serving the True Guru, there is only pitch-black darkness.
|
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਪਾਰਾ ॥
बिनु सबदै कोइ न पावै पारा ॥
Bin sabḏai ko▫e na pāvai pārā.
Without the Shabad, no one crosses over to the other side.
|
ਜੋ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਹਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
जो सबदि राते महा बैरागी सो सचु सबदे लाहा हे ॥४॥
Jo sabaḏ rāṯe mahā bairāgī so sacẖ sabḏe lāhā he. ||4||
Those who are imbued with the Shabad, are very detached. They earn the profit of the True Word of the Shabad. ||4||
|
ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
दुखु सुखु करतै धुरि लिखि पाइआ ॥
Ḏukẖ sukẖ karṯai ḏẖur likẖ pā▫i▫ā.
Pain and pleasure are pre-ordained by the Creator.
|
ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ॥
दूजा भाउ आपि वरताइआ ॥
Ḏūjā bẖā▫o āp varṯā▫i▫ā.
He Himself has caused the love of duality to be pervasive.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਅਲਿਪਤੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਵੇਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
गुरमुखि होवै सु अलिपतो वरतै मनमुख का किआ वेसाहा हे ॥५॥
Gurmukẖ hovai so alipaṯo varṯai manmukẖ kā ki▫ā vesāhā he. ||5||
One who becomes Gurmukh remains detached; how can anyone trust the self-willed manmukh? ||5||
|
ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਜੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
से मनमुख जो सबदु न पछाणहि ॥
Se manmukẖ jo sabaḏ na pacẖẖāṇėh.
Those who do not recognize the Shabad are manmukhs.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਭੈ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
गुर के भै की सार न जाणहि ॥
Gur ke bẖai kī sār na jāṇėh.
They do not know the essence of the Fear of the Guru.
|
ਭੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਮੁ ਕਾਢਿ ਲਏਗਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
भै बिनु किउ निरभउ सचु पाईऐ जमु काढि लएगा साहा हे ॥६॥
Bẖai bin ki▫o nirbẖa▫o sacẖ pā▫ī▫ai jam kādẖ la▫egā sāhā he. ||6||
Without this Fear, how can anyone find the Fearless True Lord? The Messenger of Death will pull the breath out. ||6||
|
ਅਫਰਿਓ ਜਮੁ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
अफरिओ जमु मारिआ न जाई ॥
Afri▫o jam māri▫ā na jā▫ī.
The invulnerable Messenger of Death cannot be killed.
|
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
गुर कै सबदे नेड़ि न आई ॥
Gur kai sabḏe neṛ na ā▫ī.
The Word of the Guru's Shabad prevents him from approaching.
|
ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣੇ ਤਾ ਦੂਰਹੁ ਭਾਗੈ ਮਤੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
सबदु सुणे ता दूरहु भागै मतु मारे हरि जीउ वेपरवाहा हे ॥७॥
Sabaḏ suṇe ṯā ḏẖūrahu bẖāgai maṯ māre har jī▫o veparvāhā he. ||7||
When he hears the Word of the Shabad, he runs far away. He is afraid that the self-sufficient Dear Lord will kill him. ||7||
|
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਸਿਰਕਾਰਾ ॥
हरि जीउ की है सभ सिरकारा ॥
Har jī▫o kī hai sabẖ sirkārā.
The Dear Lord is the Ruler above all.
|
ਏਹੁ ਜਮੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥
एहु जमु किआ करे विचारा ॥
Ėhu jam ki▫ā kare vicẖārā.
What can this wretched Messenger of Death do?
|
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਢਦਾ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
हुकमी बंदा हुकमु कमावै हुकमे कढदा साहा हे ॥८॥
Hukmī banḏā hukam kamāvai hukme kadẖ▫ḏā sāhā he. ||8||
As slave to the Hukam of the Lord's Command, the mortal acts according to His Hukam. According to His Hukam, he is deprived of his breath. ||8||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਕੀਆ ਅਕਾਰਾ ॥
गुरमुखि साचै कीआ अकारा ॥
Gurmukẖ sācẖai kī▫ā akārā.
The Gurmukh realizes that the True Lord created the creation.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
गुरमुखि पसरिआ सभु पासारा ॥
Gurmukẖ pasri▫ā sabẖ pāsārā.
The Gurmukh knows that the Lord has expanded the entire expanse.
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
गुरमुखि होवै सो सचु बूझै सबदि सचै सुखु ताहा हे ॥९॥
Gurmukẖ hovai so sacẖ būjẖai sabaḏ sacẖai sukẖ ṯāhā he. ||9||
One who becomes Gurmukh, understands the True Lord. Through the True Word of the Shabad, he finds peace. ||9||
|
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਕਰਮਿ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
गुरमुखि जाता करमि बिधाता ॥
Gurmukẖ jāṯā karam biḏẖāṯā.
The Gurmukh knows that the Lord is the Architect of karma.
