ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਮ ਸੇਵਕ ਤੇਰੇ
तू दाता हम सेवक तेरे ॥
Ŧū ḏāṯā ham sevak ṯere.
You are the Great Giver; I am Your slave.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਦੀਪਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
अम्रित नामु क्रिपा करि दीजै गुरि गिआन रतनु दीपाइआ ॥६॥
Amriṯ nām kirpā kar ḏījai gur gi▫ān raṯan ḏīpā▫i▫ā. ||6||
Please be merciful and bless me with Your Ambrosial Naam, and the jewel, the lamp of the Guru's spiritual wisdom. ||6||

ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਕੀਆ
पंच ततु मिलि इहु तनु कीआ ॥
Pancẖ ṯaṯ mil ih ṯan kī▫ā.
From the union of the five elements, this body was made.

ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮ ਪਾਏ ਸੁਖੁ ਥੀਆ
आतम राम पाए सुखु थीआ ॥
Āṯam rām pā▫e sukẖ thī▫ā.
Finding the Lord, the Supreme Soul, peace is established.

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
करम करतूति अम्रित फलु लागा हरि नाम रतनु मनि पाइआ ॥७॥
Karam karṯūṯ amriṯ fal lāgā har nām raṯan man pā▫i▫ā. ||7||
The good karma of past actions brings fruitful rewards, and man is blessed with the jewel of the Lord's Name. ||7||

ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ
ना तिसु भूख पिआस मनु मानिआ ॥
Nā ṯis bẖūkẖ pi▫ās man māni▫ā.
His mind does not feel any hunger or thirst.

ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਨਿਆ
सरब निरंजनु घटि घटि जानिआ ॥
Sarab niranjan gẖat gẖat jāni▫ā.
He knows the Immaculate Lord to be everywhere, in each and every heart.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਕੇਵਲ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
अम्रित रसि राता केवल बैरागी गुरमति भाइ सुभाइआ ॥८॥
Amriṯ ras rāṯā keval bairāgī gurmaṯ bẖā▫e subẖā▫i▫ā. ||8||
Imbued with the Lord's Ambrosial essence, he becomes a pure, detached renunciate; he is lovingly absorbed in the Guru's Teachings. ||8||

ਅਧਿਆਤਮ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ
अधिआतम करम करे दिनु राती ॥
Aḏẖi▫āṯam karam kare ḏin rāṯī.
Those who live a spiritual lifestyle, day and night,

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਤੀ
निरमल जोति निरंतरि जाती ॥
Nirmal joṯ niranṯar jāṯī.
sees the immaculate Divine Light deep within.

ਸਬਦੁ ਰਸਾਲੁ ਰਸਨ ਰਸਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਬੇਣੁ ਰਸਾਲੁ ਵਜਾਇਆ ॥੯॥
सबदु रसालु रसन रसि रसना बेणु रसालु वजाइआ ॥९॥
Sabaḏ rasāl rasan ras rasnā beṇ rasāl vajā▫i▫ā. ||9||
Enraptured with the delightful essence of the Shabad, the source of nectar, my tongue plays the sweet music of the flute. ||9||

ਬੇਣੁ ਰਸਾਲ ਵਜਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ
बेणु रसाल वजावै सोई ॥
Beṇ rasāl vajāvai so▫ī.
He alone plays the sweet music of this flute,

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ
जा की त्रिभवण सोझी होई ॥
Jā kī ṯaribẖavaṇ sojẖī ho▫ī.
who knows the three worlds.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬੂਝਹੁ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
नानक बूझहु इह बिधि गुरमति हरि राम नामि लिव लाइआ ॥१०॥
Nānak būjẖhu ih biḏẖ gurmaṯ har rām nām liv lā▫i▫ā. ||10||
O Nanak, know this, through the Guru's Teachings, and lovingly focus yourself on the Lord's Name. ||10||

ਐਸੇ ਜਨ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ
ऐसे जन विरले संसारे ॥
Aise jan virle sansāre.
Rare are those beings in this world,

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਹਿ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰੇ
गुर सबदु वीचारहि रहहि निरारे ॥
Gur sabaḏ vicẖārėh rahėh nirāre.
who contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and remain detached.

ਆਪਿ ਤਰਹਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਜਗਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੧੧॥
आपि तरहि संगति कुल तारहि तिन सफल जनमु जगि आइआ ॥११॥
Āp ṯarėh sangaṯ kul ṯārėh ṯin safal janam jag ā▫i▫ā. ||11||
They save themselves, and save all their associates and ancestors; fruitful is their birth and coming into this world. ||11||

ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਸੋਈ
घरु दरु मंदरु जाणै सोई ॥
Gẖar ḏar manḏar jāṇai so▫ī.
He alone knows the home of his own heart, and the door to the temple,

ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ
जिसु पूरे गुर ते सोझी होई ॥
Jis pūre gur ṯe sojẖī ho▫ī.
who obtains perfect understanding from the Guru.

ਕਾਇਆ ਗੜ ਮਹਲ ਮਹਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਤਖਤੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥੧੨॥
काइआ गड़ महल महली प्रभु साचा सचु साचा तखतु रचाइआ ॥१२॥
Kā▫i▫ā gaṛ mahal mahlī parabẖ sācẖā sacẖ sācẖā ṯakẖaṯ racẖā▫i▫ā. ||12||
In the body-fortress is the palace; God is the True Master of this Palace. The True Lord established His True Throne there. ||12||

ਚਤੁਰ ਦਸ ਹਾਟ ਦੀਵੇ ਦੁਇ ਸਾਖੀ
चतुर दस हाट दीवे दुइ साखी ॥
Cẖaṯur ḏas hāt ḏīve ḏu▫e sākẖī.
The fourteen realms and the two lamps are the witnesses.

ਸੇਵਕ ਪੰਚ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਚਾਖੀ
सेवक पंच नाही बिखु चाखी ॥
Sevak pancẖ nāhī bikẖ cẖākẖī.
The Lord's servants, the self-elect, do not taste the poison of corruption.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਨੂਪ ਨਿਰਮੋਲਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
अंतरि वसतु अनूप निरमोलक गुरि मिलिऐ हरि धनु पाइआ ॥१३॥
Anṯar vasaṯ anūp nirmolak gur mili▫ai har ḏẖan pā▫i▫ā. ||13||
Deep within, is the priceless, incomparable commodity; meeting with the Guru, the wealth of the Lord is obtained. ||13||

ਤਖਤਿ ਬਹੈ ਤਖਤੈ ਕੀ ਲਾਇਕ
तखति बहै तखतै की लाइक ॥
Ŧakẖaṯ bahai ṯakẖ▫ṯai kī lā▫ik.
He alone sits on the throne, who is worthy of the throne.

ਪੰਚ ਸਮਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਕ
पंच समाए गुरमति पाइक ॥
Pancẖ samā▫e gurmaṯ pā▫ik.
Following the Guru's Teachings, he subdues the five demons, and becomes the Lord's foot soldier.

ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ਸਹਸਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
आदि जुगादी है भी होसी सहसा भरमु चुकाइआ ॥१४॥
Āḏ jugāḏī hai bẖī hosī sahsā bẖaram cẖukā▫i▫ā. ||14||
He has existed from the very beginning of time and throughout the ages; He exists here and now, and will always exist. Meditating on Him, skepticism and doubt are dispelled. ||14||

ਤਖਤਿ ਸਲਾਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ
तखति सलामु होवै दिनु राती ॥
Ŧakẖaṯ salām hovai ḏin rāṯī.
The Lord of the Throne is greeted and worshipped day and night.

ਇਹੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲਿਵ ਜਾਤੀ
इहु साचु वडाई गुरमति लिव जाती ॥
Ih sācẖ vadā▫ī gurmaṯ liv jāṯī.
This true glorious greatness comes to those who love the Guru's Teachings.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਸਖਾਈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥੧॥੧੮॥
नानक रामु जपहु तरु तारी हरि अंति सखाई पाइआ ॥१५॥१॥१८॥
Nānak rām japahu ṯar ṯārī har anṯ sakẖā▫ī pā▫i▫ā. ||15||1||18||
O Nanak, meditate on the Lord, and swim across the river; they find the Lord, their best friend, in the end. ||15||1||18||

ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ
मारू महला १ ॥
Mārū mėhlā 1.
Maaroo, First Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਰੇ ਜਨ ਭਾਈ
हरि धनु संचहु रे जन भाई ॥
Har ḏẖan sancẖahu re jan bẖā▫ī.
Gather in the wealth of the Lord, O humble Siblings of Destiny.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਰਣਾਈ
सतिगुर सेवि रहहु सरणाई ॥
Saṯgur sev rahhu sarṇā▫ī.
Serve the True Guru, and remain in His Sanctuary.

ਤਸਕਰੁ ਚੋਰੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
तसकरु चोरु न लागै ता कउ धुनि उपजै सबदि जगाइआ ॥१॥
Ŧaskar cẖor na lāgai ṯā ka▫o ḏẖun upjai sabaḏ jagā▫i▫ā. ||1||
This wealth cannot be stolen; the celestial melody of the Shabad wells up and keeps us awake and aware. ||1||

ਤੂ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਰਾਜਾ
तू एकंकारु निरालमु राजा ॥
Ŧū ekankār nirālam rājā.
You are the One Universal Creator, the Immaculate King.

ਤੂ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰਹਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਕਾਜਾ
तू आपि सवारहि जन के काजा ॥
Ŧū āp savārėh jan ke kājā.
You Yourself arrange and resolve the affairs of Your humble servant.

ਅਮਰੁ ਅਡੋਲੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਥਾਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
अमरु अडोलु अपारु अमोलकु हरि असथिर थानि सुहाइआ ॥२॥
Amar adol apār amolak har asthir thān suhā▫i▫ā. ||2||
You are immortal, immovable, infinite and priceless; O Lord, Your place is beautiful and eternal. ||2||

ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਊਤਮ ਥਾਨਾ
देही नगरी ऊतम थाना ॥
Ḏehī nagrī ūṯam thānā.
In the body-village, the most sublime place,

ਪੰਚ ਲੋਕ ਵਸਹਿ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ
पंच लोक वसहि परधाना ॥
Pancẖ lok vasėh parḏẖānā.
the supremely noble people dwell.

ਊਪਰਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਲਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
ऊपरि एकंकारु निरालमु सुंन समाधि लगाइआ ॥३॥
Ūpar ekankār nirālam sunn samāḏẖ lagā▫i▫ā. ||3||
Above them is the Immaculate Lord, the One Universal Creator; they are lovingly absorbed in the profound, primal state of Samaadhi. ||3||

ਦੇਹੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਨਉ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ
देही नगरी नउ दरवाजे ॥
Ḏehī nagrī na▫o ḏarvāje.
There are nine gates to the body-village;

ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੈ ਸਾਜੇ
सिरि सिरि करणैहारै साजे ॥
Sir sir karṇaihārai sāje.
the Creator Lord fashioned them for each and every person.

ਦਸਵੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਨਿਰਾਲਾ ਆਪੇ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
दसवै पुरखु अतीतु निराला आपे अलखु लखाइआ ॥४॥
Ḏasvai purakẖ aṯīṯ nirālā āpe alakẖ lakẖā▫i▫ā. ||4||
Within the Tenth Gate, dwells the Primal Lord, detached and unequalled. The unknowable reveals Himself. ||4||

ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਲੇਖੁ ਸਚੇ ਦੀਵਾਨਾ
पुरखु अलेखु सचे दीवाना ॥
Purakẖ alekẖ sacẖe ḏīvānā.
The Primal Lord cannot be held to account; True is His Celestial Court.

ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਏ ਸਚੁ ਨੀਸਾਨਾ
हुकमि चलाए सचु नीसाना ॥
Hukam cẖalā▫e sacẖ nīsānā.
The Hukam of His Command is in effect; True is His Insignia.

ਨਾਨਕ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹਹੁ ਘਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
नानक खोजि लहहु घरु अपना हरि आतम राम नामु पाइआ ॥५॥
Nānak kẖoj lahhu gẖar apnā har āṯam rām nām pā▫i▫ā. ||5||
O Nanak, search and examine your own home, and you shall find the Supreme Soul, and the Name of the Lord. ||5||
