ਭੂਲੇ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਮਝਾਏ
भूले सिख गुरू समझाए ॥
Bẖūle sikẖ gurū samjẖā▫e.
The Guru instructs His wandering Sikhs;

ਉਝੜਿ ਜਾਦੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ
उझड़ि जादे मारगि पाए ॥
Ujẖaṛ jāḏe mārag pā▫e.
if they go astray, He sets them on the right path.

ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਖਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
तिसु गुर सेवि सदा दिनु राती दुख भंजन संगि सखाता हे ॥१३॥
Ŧis gur sev saḏā ḏin rāṯī ḏukẖ bẖanjan sang sakẖāṯā he. ||13||
So serve the Guru, forever, day and night; He is the Destroyer of pain - He is with you as your companion. ||13||

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ
गुर की भगति करहि किआ प्राणी ॥
Gur kī bẖagaṯ karahi ki▫ā parāṇī.
O mortal being, what devotional worship have you performed to the Guru?

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿ ਮਹੇਸਿ ਜਾਣੀ
ब्रहमै इंद्रि महेसि न जाणी ॥
Barahmai in▫ḏar mahes na jāṇī.
Even Brahma, Indra and Shiva do not know it.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਲਖੀਐ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਖਸੇ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
सतिगुरु अलखु कहहु किउ लखीऐ जिसु बखसे तिसहि पछाता हे ॥१४॥
Saṯgur alakẖ kahhu ki▫o lakẖī▫ai jis bakẖse ṯisėh pacẖẖāṯā he. ||14||
Tell me, how can the unknowable True Guru be known? He alone attains this realization, whom the Lord forgives. ||14||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ
अंतरि प्रेमु परापति दरसनु ॥
Anṯar parem parāpaṯ ḏarsan.
One who has love within, obtains the Blessed Vision of His Darshan.

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਸੁ ਪਰਸਨੁ
गुरबाणी सिउ प्रीति सु परसनु ॥
Gurbāṇī si▫o parīṯ so parsan.
One who enshrines love for the Word of the Guru's Bani, meets with Him.

ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਬਾਈ ਘਟਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
अहिनिसि निरमल जोति सबाई घटि दीपकु गुरमुखि जाता हे ॥१५॥
Ahinis nirmal joṯ sabā▫ī gẖat ḏīpak gurmukẖ jāṯā he. ||15||
Day and night, the Gurmukh sees the immaculate Divine Light everywhere; this lamp illuminates his heart. ||15||

ਭੋਜਨ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ
भोजन गिआनु महा रसु मीठा ॥
Bẖojan gi▫ān mahā ras mīṯẖā.
The food of spiritual wisdom is the supremely sweet essence.

ਜਿਨਿ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਡੀਠਾ
जिनि चाखिआ तिनि दरसनु डीठा ॥
Jin cẖākẖi▫ā ṯin ḏarsan dīṯẖā.
Whoever tastes it, sees the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥
दरसनु देखि मिले बैरागी मनु मनसा मारि समाता हे ॥१६॥
Ḏarsan ḏekẖ mile bairāgī man mansā mār samāṯā he. ||16||
Beholding His Darshan, the unattached one meets the Lord; subduing the mind's desires, he merges into the Lord. ||16||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ
सतिगुरु सेवहि से परधाना ॥
Saṯgur sevėh se parḏẖānā.
Those who serve the True Guru are supreme and famous.

ਤਿਨ ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ
तिन घट घट अंतरि ब्रहमु पछाना ॥
Ŧin gẖat gẖat anṯar barahm pacẖẖānā.
Deep within each and every heart, they recognize God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੭॥੫॥੧੧॥
नानक हरि जसु हरि जन की संगति दीजै जिन सतिगुरु हरि प्रभु जाता हे ॥१७॥५॥११॥
Nānak har jas har jan kī sangaṯ ḏījai jin saṯgur har parabẖ jāṯā he. ||17||5||11||
Please bless Nanak with the Lord's Praises, and the Sangat, the Congregation of the Lord's humble servants; through the True Guru, they know their Lord God. ||17||5||11||

ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ
मारू महला १ ॥
Mārū mėhlā 1.
Maaroo, First Mehl:

ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੇ
साचे साहिब सिरजणहारे ॥
Sācẖe sāhib sirjaṇhāre.
The True Lord is the Creator of the Universe.

ਜਿਨਿ ਧਰ ਚਕ੍ਰ ਧਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ
जिनि धर चक्र धरे वीचारे ॥
Jin ḏẖar cẖakar ḏẖare vīcẖāre.
He established and contemplates the worldly sphere.

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
आपे करता करि करि वेखै साचा वेपरवाहा हे ॥१॥
Āpe karṯā kar kar vekẖai sācẖā veparvāhā he. ||1||
He Himself created the creation, and beholds it; He is True and independent. ||1||

ਵੇਕੀ ਵੇਕੀ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਏ
वेकी वेकी जंत उपाए ॥
vekī vekī janṯ upā▫e.
He created the beings of different kinds.

ਦੁਇ ਪੰਦੀ ਦੁਇ ਰਾਹ ਚਲਾਏ
दुइ पंदी दुइ राह चलाए ॥
Ḏu▫e panḏī ḏu▫e rāh cẖalā▫e.
The two travelers have set out in two directions.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
गुर पूरे विणु मुकति न होई सचु नामु जपि लाहा हे ॥२॥
Gur pūre viṇ mukaṯ na ho▫ī sacẖ nām jap lāhā he. ||2||
Without the Perfect Guru, no one is liberated. Chanting the True Name, one profits. ||2||

ਪੜਹਿ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਰੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾ
पड़हि मनमुख परु बिधि नही जाना ॥
Paṛėh manmukẖ par biḏẖ nahī jānā.
The self-willed manmukhs read and study, but they do not know the way.

ਨਾਮੁ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਨਾ
नामु न बूझहि भरमि भुलाना ॥
Nām na būjẖėh bẖaram bẖulānā.
They do not understand the Naam, the Name of the Lord; they wander, deluded by doubt.

ਲੈ ਕੈ ਵਢੀ ਦੇਨਿ ਉਗਾਹੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਗਲਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
लै कै वढी देनि उगाही दुरमति का गलि फाहा हे ॥३॥
Lai kai vadẖī ḏen ugāhī ḏurmaṯ kā gal fāhā he. ||3||
They take bribes, and give false testimony; the noose of evil-mindedness is around their necks. ||3||

ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੜਹਿ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ
सिम्रिति सासत्र पड़हि पुराणा ॥
Simriṯ sāsṯar paṛėh purāṇā.
They read the Simritees, the Shaastras and the Puraanas;

ਵਾਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ਤਤੁ ਜਾਣਾ
वादु वखाणहि ततु न जाणा ॥
vāḏ vakāṇėh ṯaṯ na jāṇā.
they argue and debate, but do not know the essence of reality.

ਵਿਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤਤੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਚ ਸੂਚੇ ਸਚੁ ਰਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
विणु गुर पूरे ततु न पाईऐ सच सूचे सचु राहा हे ॥४॥
viṇ gur pūre ṯaṯ na pā▫ī▫ai sacẖ sūcẖe sacẖ rāhā he. ||4||
Without the Perfect Guru, the essence of reality is not obtained. The true and pure beings walk the Path of Truth. ||4||

ਸਭ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖੈ
सभ सालाहे सुणि सुणि आखै ॥
Sabẖ sālāhe suṇ suṇ ākẖai.
All praise God and listen, and listen and speak.

ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਾਖੈ
आपे दाना सचु पराखै ॥
Āpe ḏānā sacẖ parākẖai.
He Himself is wise, and He Himself judges the Truth.

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
जिन कउ नदरि करे प्रभु अपनी गुरमुखि सबदु सलाहा हे ॥५॥
Jin ka▫o naḏar kare parabẖ apnī gurmukẖ sabaḏ salāhā he. ||5||
Those whom God blesses with His Glance of Grace become Gurmukh, and praise the Word of the Shabad. ||5||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਆਖੈ ਕੇਤੀ ਬਾਣੀ
सुणि सुणि आखै केती बाणी ॥
Suṇ suṇ ākẖai keṯī baṇī.
Many listen and listen, and speak the Guru's Bani.

ਸੁਣਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਜਾਣੀ
सुणि कहीऐ को अंतु न जाणी ॥
Suṇ kahī▫ai ko anṯ na jāṇī.
Listening and speaking, no one knows His limits.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਬੁਧਿ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
जा कउ अलखु लखाए आपे अकथ कथा बुधि ताहा हे ॥६॥
Jā ka▫o alakẖ lakẖā▫e āpe akath kathā buḏẖ ṯāhā he. ||6||
He alone is wise, unto whom the unseen Lord reveals Himself; he speaks the Unspoken Speech. ||6||

ਜਨਮੇ ਕਉ ਵਾਜਹਿ ਵਾਧਾਏ
जनमे कउ वाजहि वाधाए ॥
Janme ka▫o vājėh vāḏẖā▫e.
At birth, the congratulations pour in;

ਸੋਹਿਲੜੇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਗਾਏ
सोहिलड़े अगिआनी गाए ॥
Sohilṛe agi▫ānī gā▫e.
the ignorant sing songs of joy.

ਜੋ ਜਨਮੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਰਪਰ ਮਰਣਾ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
जो जनमै तिसु सरपर मरणा किरतु पइआ सिरि साहा हे ॥७॥
Jo janmai ṯis sarpar marṇā kiraṯ pa▫i▫ā sir sāhā he. ||7||
Whoever is born, is sure to die, according to the destiny of past deeds inscribed upon his head by the Sovereign Lord King. ||7||

ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਵਿਜੋਗੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਏ
संजोगु विजोगु मेरै प्रभि कीए ॥
Sanjog vijog merai parabẖ kī▫e.
Union and separation were created by my God.

ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਦੁਖਾ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਏ
स्रिसटि उपाइ दुखा सुख दीए ॥
Sarisat upā▫e ḏukẖā sukẖ ḏī▫e.
Creating the Universe, He gave it pain and pleasure.

ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਰਾਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੀਲੁ ਸਨਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
दुख सुख ही ते भए निराले गुरमुखि सीलु सनाहा हे ॥८॥
Ḏukẖ sukẖ hī ṯe bẖa▫e nirāle gurmukẖ sīl sanāhā he. ||8||
The Gurmukhs remain unaffected by pain and pleasure; they wear the armor of humility. ||8||

ਨੀਕੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ
नीके साचे के वापारी ॥
Nīke sācẖe ke vāpārī.
The noble people are traders in Truth.

ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ
सचु सउदा लै गुर वीचारी ॥
Sacẖ sa▫uḏā lai gur vīcẖārī.
They purchase the true merchandise, contemplating the Guru.

ਸਚਾ ਵਖਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚੈ ਓਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
सचा वखरु जिसु धनु पलै सबदि सचै ओमाहा हे ॥९॥
Sacẖā vakẖar jis ḏẖan palai sabaḏ sacẖai omāhā he. ||9||
One who has the wealth of the true commodity in his lap, is blessed with the rapture of the True Shabad. ||9||

ਕਾਚੀ ਸਉਦੀ ਤੋਟਾ ਆਵੈ
काची सउदी तोटा आवै ॥
Kācẖī sa▫uḏī ṯotā āvai.
The false dealings lead only to loss.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ
गुरमुखि वणजु करे प्रभ भावै ॥
Gurmukẖ vaṇaj kare parabẖ bẖāvai.
The trades of the Gurmukh are pleasing to God.

ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸਾਬਤੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਚੂਕਾ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
पूंजी साबतु रासि सलामति चूका जम का फाहा हे ॥१०॥
Pūnjī sābaṯ rās salāmaṯ cẖūkā jam kā fāhā he. ||10||
His stock is safe, and his capital is safe and sound. The noose of Death is cut away from around his neck. ||10||
